a gorgeous multicoloured chimera, a masterpiece. i will go to KYOTO one day.

The impression the novel gives is one about coping mechanisms after hitting absolute lows. The characters grapple with their trauma and become so pathetic it evokes almost disgust. The emotional context that is absent or implied in the anime is actually properly explained here, making it more enjoyable. Circumstances are introduced and reintroduced- quite explicitly, in case you forget. The common thread of characters is dealing with loss, guilt, or both. It's a story that starts so low you wonder how they can heal, and ends on a hopeful note.
However, the development is quite casual and serendipitous, accelerates to break-neck pace at the climax, and concludes with the feeling of a precarious happiness. The simplistic "fun things are good things" takeaway, the deterministic outlook of the tanuki, and message to accept the ephemerality of good times seems to me stereotypically Japanese and stale.
In addition, despite the character of Benten and her trauma, a different kind of trauma, being the primary drivers of the conflict, the mystery she casts looms over the rest of the novel. As the first book in what is a planned trilogy, it is understandable, but a little frustrating for this novel to serve in large part as a prequel to her story. With the way the titular heroes' stories are resolved, they become like minor characters to their own debut novel. Although in-theme with the tanuki nature, I found it a somewhat depressing affirmation of the things being the way they are.

Một Kyoto đầy mới mẻ dưới góc nhìn của 1 con Tanuki. Hóa ra ở đây không chỉ có con người mà còn có Tanuki giỏi biến hình, Thiên Cẩu bay lượn trên trời cao và cả Bán-Thiên Cẩu được Thiên Cẩu dạy dỗ ra. Sư phụ Thiên Cẩu đã già, lại khó chịu nên chỉ còn duy nhất 1 đệ tử Tanuki còn hay đến thăm nom. Sư phụ Thiên Cẩu đem lòng yêu đệ tử con người của mình, nhưng cô ấy sau khi học hành thành tài thì gần như không đến thăm sư phụ nữa. Câu chuyện dần dần mở ra theo bước đi của Tanuki đệ tử, cái chết của người cha, cơn sợ hãi Lôi thần của người mẹ, và những tranh đấu trong nội bộ Tanuki. Đúng là ngu ngốc mà, nhưng thoải mái thì mới vui.

Thực ra mình đã xem anime trước rồi mới đọc sách nhưng mà phải công nhận là anime chuyển thể làm tốt quá sức tưởng tượng, tất cả những gì mình đọc được trong quyển 1 đều được anime truyền tải vô cùng thành công. Tác giả Morimi Tomihiko đem đến một Kyoto rất là thân thuộc luôn, kể cả lúc đọc sách hay xem anime đều có cảm giác như hồi tưởng lại chuyện của mình trong quá khứ 😂 mặc dù rõ ràng mình chưa từng đến Kyoto luôn

狸貓下鴨家的爸爸自從被人類的「星期五俱樂部」當火鍋料吃掉後，留下來的四個小孩，就負擔起要重振父親名聲的任務。四個小孩中，老大矢一郎正經有餘，能力不足；老二矢二郎是最後和父親見面喝酒的人，為父親的死自責，變成一隻井底蛙，不想再當狸貓；矢三郎是故事的中心角色，什麼都以「好玩、有趣」為原則，是家族中最靈活的一個；老么矢四郎膽子最小，是個還沒長大的小孩子。
這樣的下鴨四兄弟，與爸爸反目的叔叔一家爭取貍貓族中的地位，免不了來番你來我往的惡鬥。放寬心來看，整本書應該就像封底說的，是本「樂翻天」的書。
可能嚴謹慣了，還是最近生活太過認真，我始終無法進入書中上天入地無厘頭的情節當中。
應該有很多其他的人喜歡，不然不會叫做暢銷書，只是，那一大夥人中沒有我就是了。

這本比春宵苦短還要脫線，或許是因為主角是狸貓天狗吧
不過同一件事反覆來回重新說一次，反而沒有春宵苦短一氣呵成的感覺
難道原本是連載小說嗎?

Một cuộc đọc vô cùng sảng khoái dễ chịu. Mà công lao không nhỏ thuộc về bản dịch hay ho hài hước (*^o^*).

故事很有趣，一如往常 有些场景和字句很激励人心，最重要的是喜欢那一股的科幻构造！

大好きな作品。
アニメ作品を視聴してから原作を手にとった。ちょっともったいぶった言い回しは嫌味でなく作者の個性として魅力的。同作者の別作品はなかなか読み進むのに時間がかかってしまうのだが有頂天家族シリーズはグイグイと引き込まれる。可愛い毛玉が家族のために粉骨砕身洛中を走り回る物語は家族愛をテーマとした名作。

小旅行で伊豆に向かう鈍行の中で読み始めて、帰路で読了しました。次は京都に行かなくっちゃ！！と思いました。あまり多くは説明したくないですが、世界観が大好きです。

August 2, 2017I wish wish wish that this will be translated soon! The anime is incredible and sophisticated compared to other series. And the NHK World show "Imagine Nation" interviewed Morimi-sensei and he was pleased with the anime adaptation. I REALLY want to read the trilogy translated.
