Die größte Stärke des Buches war zeitgleich seine größte Schwäche, denn das Buch war ein super entspannendes Wohlfühlbuch für mich. Aber dadurch gab es halt auch nicht allzu viel Spannung oder Drama, auch wenn ich das nicht immer brauche, war hier alles doch seeeeeehr Friede, Freude, Eierkuchen. Alles so perfekt und vorherbestimmt. Dennoch war das Buch wie gesagt ein absolutes Wohlfühlbuch, was zum kurzweiligen Genießen einlädt, einige charmante Charaktere enthält sowie in einem klasse Setting spielt! Und ja ich habe die ersten 18 Bände (noch) nicht gelesen, da netterweise die Möglichkeit hatte Band 19 als Rezi-Exemplar zu lesen. Aber ich kam auch so gut rein, trotz sehr vielen Namen (auch in dieser Reihe geht es um eine große Familie, so wie bei der Green-Mountains-Reihe der Autorin). Außerdem sind die Bücher in sich gut abgeschlossen und ganz ehrlich was soll ich mich bei solchen Wohlfühlbüchern auch groß spoilern? Man weiß doch, wenn man ehrlich ist, eh wie die Lovestories ausgehen ;)
Der Schreibstil ist hier wirklich sehr simpel, aber man kann ihn gut und flüssig lesen. Unsere Protagonisten mochte ich auch gerne, auch wenn zumindest so manche Charakterzüge etwas überspitzt dargestellt waren. Kurz gefasst: die Bücher dieser Reihe sind vermutlich die perfekten kleinen Lückenfüller so für zwischendurch, wenn man einfach kurzweilig unterhalten werden will.

I have a huge soft spot for the McCarthy clan and 19 books in they still have the charm, charisma and pull that won me over when I picked up the first book six years ago. And having got to know Riley McCarthy a little better over the past couple of books, I was ready for him.
I, for one, am very happy to have you as our nine-hundred and fiftieth resident.”
Marie Force takes us right into the heart of the family who make Gansett Island the place it is, not only bringing Riley and Nikki’s story, but those of a handful of previous beloved couples whose own lives continue to evolve, flourish and inject some surprises. And it’s this aspect that keeps the series fresh, albeit with a certain degree of predictability, which itself is no bad thing as I know I can expect romance, sexiness, humour and feeling, and Riley and Nikki are another couple to fall in love with.
As Riley and Nikki grow closer, we begin discover there is more to her than you can imagine and whilst a little fearful over the depth of her feelings for Riley, he steps up to the mark with his patient, gentle nature, honesty and desires.

Mine After Dark is an enjoyable addition to the series and I can’t wait to discover who will be the one to knock Riley’s brother Finn off his stride: with some hilarious banter flying between the brothers and their cousins—as always Mac is in fine form—I’m already looking forward to my next trip to the island.

Auch die Geschichte von Riley und Nikki hat mir wieder gut gefallen. Es war wie immer toll und schnell zu lesen. Bin gespannt wie es Finn und Chloe im nächsten Band ergeht.

My favorite literary family!
The McCarthy's will always be my favorite family. With every new book, I am more invested in their stories. Riley and Nikki are a great couple. I loved their instant attraction, and that they were both hoping to see each other again when she returned to the island. He was unbelievable when dealing with her anxiety and the horrific things she endured in her past. He showed such great care and concern for her. He was so sweet and romantic, and they had incredible chemistry. Mac and Maddy still remind as hilarious and crazy as ever. I laugh so hard with every scene of theirs. There were so many wonderful things going on in the family, which will continue with every new addition to the family. Loved every word, as I always do.

This is one of my favourites series. I love meeting and learning more about the McCarthy's of Gansett Island.
This is an extremely well written book full of love and family and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
I loved everything about his book and was riveted from the first chapter. The added bonus of the Christmas novella at the end was simply the icing ion the cake for me.
I really liked Riley and and Nikki both separately and together and the chemistry between them was scorching. I love how caring and sweet Riley is to Nikki after he finds out about the horror from her past, he is such a class act. Can Riley and Nikki forge a path together or will they be split apart by the love and commitment Nikki has to her twin sister?
I love catching up with the McCarthy's and their extended family. Marie Force brings Gansett Island to life for me and I so want to visit.

I sound like a broken record at this point but I will say it again—> I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ this series. I’m determined to be the long lost sibling to Mac, Adam, Grant and the rest of the gang. This series makes me giddy just getting a peak at what’s going on with everyone.
So many small stories wrapped around Riley and Nikki’s adorable love story. Riley was yet another sweet McCarthy family member. Nikki was so lovely and devoted to her sister and the perfect match for Riley. Their story is sweet and the end of the book came too soon.

Gansett Island steals your heart......again!
Another truly amazing visit to Gansett Island, it's like returning to visit family who welcome you with open arms. You are sucked straight into the madness that is the McCarthy's and Gansett Island, but it is the love that makes you want to stay and make it your home!
Riley has the usual McCarthy charm and goodness, but he is also sweeter and less cocky than his cousins, allowing him to steal your heart right from the first chapter.
Nikki has had a pretty rough life so far, there are many people who would scoff at this when they see her working for Jordan - but glitz and glam are not always what they seem. She is just as sweet as Riley, with a heart the size of Gansett, but her heart has been shattered numerous time and always by the people closest to her - can she take a chance and trust Riley to help her rebuild her heart? Returning to her 'safe place' of Gansett Island is only the start and more than once their struggles, fights with demons past and present and their unwavering love bring a tear to your eye.
Combine this with the long awaited wedding of Kevin and Chelsea, numerous babies (yes more babies for Gansett), heart break and the usual crazy antics this book once again leaves you emotionally dizzy but on a high and wanting more. We may be 19 books in but this series just keeps getting better and better!

I always love a trip to Gansett Island. My heart is always so happy and full of love when I leave, and I hate to leave until the next trip. When I read these stories I feel like I am there on the island. I just get pulled right in at the first chapter. Riley and Nikki were a great addition to the couples who spend their life on this great little island. Their story shows that you can even find love in the winter on a island. I enjoyed to catch ups with all the other couples also. Once you meet the McCarthy family you can't get enough of them, and their friends. I would recommend this book and all in the series to anyone looking for a great romance story.

Today I had one of those V-8 moments. I have loved every one of the Gansett Island books. I have devoured them. I have worshipped them. But until today, other than the amazing writing abilities of the author, I couldn't figure out why.
While I have read many series, only this one seems to be a continuation of the complete story. There might be a main couple in each and every wonderful story, but the lives of past couples and residents continue on. The author understands the reader. She gets that we don't want to forget the stories of the past. The characters continue to touch our hearts long after each epilogue.
What made this story special was that the primary characters, Nikki and Riley, deserved every minute of happiness they could get. She had, for the most part, been taken advantage of by her famous sister. He had struggled first with his mother's affair and then accepting his father's relationship and desire for children with a much younger woman.
The fantastic, gut laughing, family relationships continue in the McCarthy family. If you are like me, you may not want to be drinking anything while reading. I washed my Kindle, not on purpose, but still.....And now I must wait to visit future McCarthy love stories, but it will be worth the wait.

She is living at her grandmother's house which needs updating in the worst way. Nikki has come here to regroup after leaving her twin sister's employment. She has had enough.
Some of the funniest moments in this book are when Finn and Riley interact. The two of them are hysterical and so much fun. Maddie and Mack are featured as well as Chelsea and Kevin and Adam and Abbey. Also Katie and Shane are a part of the story as well. There are surprises left and right in this installment.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The family is so large that it would be hard to feature everyone but the family does appear here and there in not in a smaller storyline within the book.

Here we are again off to Gansett Island and Ms. Force does not disappoint! Loved Riley and Nikki’s story from beginning to end plus what a pleasure to catch up.with other family members on the Island. Truly feels as though I have been away and missed out on what has been happening that is how real these characters are. I have to pinch myself that this is just a book full of wonderful ,entertaining,funny, loving people that we should all be blessed to have as family. From this glowing review you know it has to be 5 Stars all the way run,rush to get your copy and enjoy the journey. If you have been on another planet this past decade you have a superb treat in store start with book 1 Maid for Love and go from there. Cannot wait for the next book Well done!

This wonderful series returns with the sweet love story of Riley & Nikki. You get the pleasure of reading the adventures of new love with hiccup or two, the necessary HEA, and a new couple to love on the Island. Each book in the series features a different couple and many of those characters appear and you are brought up to date on their lives. The true stars of this series for me is, and always will be, are Mac and Maddie. Mac and Maddie are always good for smiles and laughs, they also bring me to tears. They have an honest true love full of commitment. They truly understand each other and are supportive. Their relationship continues to grow in each book and it’s wonderful to experience. While this is the love story of Riley & Nikki, Marie has a gift of including many characters into the story. There are multiple on-going storylines and it reads in real-life time frame. These “secondary” storylines never take away from the main storyline but enhance your reading. Past storylines are recalled in a way where you don’t feel it’s being repeated. It is always a true pleasure to take a break when a new Gansett Island book is released. I get swept away and all is right in the world again. And of course, they are wonderful to revisit/reread again and again.

I LOVE ALL OF YOUR BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was awesome.........but I was a little annoyed with Jordan! And with Nikki if I’m being honest, I hated how she kept dropping the things she loved for her sister. At some point Jordan has to take responsibility for herself and her crazy actions. Going back to a situation you can get yourself out of, isn’t smart. But Nikki and Riley finally getting together, was everything I hoped it would be.........so thanks for that. Now my heart went out to Maddie, for all her suffering..... but I’m with Mac, that on everything and everyone in their lives are a blessing. And I’m soooooo ecstatic for Abby and Adam....I know her pain when it comes to PCOS.... such a pain in the ass.....especially when things regulate only to further cause more heartache..... but everything works out for the best.... awesome read. Exceptional author and novel. Can’t wait for more!

It was a choppy ferry ride back to Gansett Island and a rollercoaster ride for Nikky and Riley. Riley, cousin to Mac and the rest of the McCarthy clan has been pining for Nikky since she left her Grandmothers house months before. Upon hearing of her return its not long before they are falling for each other big time. Nikky has a secret that she is worried if she tells Riley will scare him away. It's a ride full of laughter, sadness and angst as we follow their story as well as catch up with our favourites .. and mine as well of Mac & Maddie - these guys are hilarious, Shane & Katie who together fight their way through a tragedy and Adam & Abby who receive some surprising news … look forward to reading more about them. Finnbar & Nicholas OMG crackup. Cannot wait to see where Finn's story goes.

What a wonderful book! Great news for all the Gansett Island Families throughout the story. Riley & his brother, Finn, are such fantastic brothers. They read each other very easily in good & bad times. Riley met Nik while fixing her grandmother’s roof. Instant attraction occurred, but Nik & her celebrity sister, Jordan, suddenly left the island without saying goodbye. Riley’s depression started for no known reason. Finn figured out it was because of Nik. Jordon decided to return to her Rocker husband who was on tour. Nik had enough of their situation & walked away from the troubled couple & returned to Gansett Island. Once Nik returns, Riley goes to see her. Nik has many hidden secrets & emotional issues to her personal life. This is an emotional story, intriguing ride, to find love & personal happiness. Add all the other family members & friends updates, it was a fantastic read. Can’t wait for the next one! You can not get tired of this series no matter how many times you read it.! Great writing once again.

I went back to my reading log and saw that I've been reading this series for six years now. Six. Every book and every character introduced I've fallen in love with. Actually, I'm in love with this island. My friends, whom are reading this series as well, and I are want to go over to Gansett Island and meet EVERYONE. Including the two new characters in this installment, Nikki and Riley.
Mine After Dark is about taking a chance on love. Nikki has walls around her heart, her emotions that will make it hard for Riley to walk through. Thank goodness he's a construction worker and know how to use a sledgehammer. He's going to need to break those walls so Nikki can welcome his love in her heart.

One of the things I loved about this particular book, it was focused on Riley and Nikki. Marie Force created a truly heart felt romance with them. It was sensual and sweet, which helps with this couple who are coping with their own issues. I loved this book. I love this series. I just love a good series, and these Gansett Island books are one of my favourite reads.
In fact I just love how Marie keeps coming up with these great little stories of Island life and all it’s inhabitants that we love to visit with so much.

Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist total flüssig, liest sich super und ist sehr leicht verständlich. Das Buch wurde abwechselnd aus der Sicht von Riley und Nikki und ein paar anderen Charakteren geschrieben.

Ich fande alle Charaktere von Anfang an total sympathisch und liebenswert. Desweitern gibt es noch ein paar andere Charaktere. . Meiner Meinung nach sind alle Charakter sehr gelungen und haben einen sehr guten Platz im Buch bekommen.

Awww =) Ich will auch auf Gansett Island :) Als ich das Buch gelesen habe, war es wie, nach Hause kommen. Das Gefühl von Geborgenheit und Liebe. Ich bin ja eh ein ganz großer Fan von Marie Force. Ihre Bücher sind alle so mit viel Leidenschaft und Gefühl geschrieben, was mir persönlich sehr gut gefällt und was ich auch total mag. An der Gansett Reihe liebe ich, das man einfach sich total wohl und geborgen fühlt beim Lesen. Riley und Nikki habe ich auch von Anfang an in mein Herz geschlossen. Man kann zwar die Bände getrennt voneinander lesen, weil im jedem Buch ein anders Pärchen die Hauptrolle hat. Aber ich würde trotzdem vorschlagen, dass man die Reihe nacheinander lesen soll. Da man sich einfach teilweise spoilert. Aber bei der Reihe ist es auch nicht so schlimm in welcher Reihenfolge man sie liest, weil man sich kaum alle 18 bis 19 Bücher merken kann. Also ich zu mindestens nicht. Und ich lese auch nicht die ganze Reihe auf einmal und hintereinander. Denn ich brauche auch mal ein bisschen Abwechslung. So gerne ich die Bücher von Marie mag und so gerne ich auch Liebesromane lese, aber ein bisschen unrealistisch sind ja schon, wenn jeder sein Happy End bekommt. Aber ich freue mich schon auf ganz viele weitere Teile der Reihe. Sie zählt zu meinen absoluten Lieblingen. Von mir bekommt das Buch sehr verdiente 5 Sterne und eine klare Leseempfehlung. Wer keine zu hohen Ansprüche an Liebesgeschichten hat, ist bei der Reihe genau an der richtigen Stelle. Sie sind wirklich perfekt für einen lockeren Leseabend um einfach nur zu entspannend und sich wohlzufühlen.

Meinung:
Ich habe bis jetzt zwei Bücher von Marie Force gelesen und bei beiden war es total gemütlich. Wie ich das meine? Die beiden Bücher von ihr die ich bis jetzt gelesen habe, sind einfach wohlfühl Bücher. Das Familien leben in ihren Büchern ist einfach grandios man, will selber ein Teil der Familie sein.
Der Schreibstil ist einfach locker und leicht und lässt sich dadurch auch sehr schnell lesen. Ich habe das Buch innerhalb von eineinhalb Tagen beendet. Ich bin quasi nur so durch die Seiten geflogen.
Das Buch ist in der dritten Person geschrieben und wird abwechselnd aus Nikkis und aus Rileys Sicht erzählt. Was mich leider etwas gestört hat war, das auch aus anderen Perspektiven erzählt wurde. Zwischendurch tauchten immer wieder die Sichtweisen von den anderen McCarthys auf und das hat mich verwirrt. Die Geschichte der anderen Familienmitglieder hat fast so viel Raum eingenommen wie die von Riley und Nikki.
Riley als Charakter hat mir ganz gut gefallen sowie auch Nikki. Riley ist gefühlvoll und weiß was er will. Nikki hat in ihrer Vergangenheit was sehr schlimmes erlebt und ist deshalb was Männer angeht richtig vorsichtig. Leider wurde für meinen Geschmack etwas zu wenig auf die Vergangenheit eingegangen. Außerdem hat mich ein Satz den Nikki gefühlt jedes mal gesagt hat, wenn etwas, ein wenig lustig war genervt. Sie hat jedes mal gesagt „das ist Lustig“ aber genau wegen diesem Satz fand ich es nicht mehr lustig :P Sie wirkte in solchen Szenen immer total gekünstelt. In ein paar Szenen konnte ich kein Knistern zwischen den beiden spüren, was leider etwas schade war.
Was mir, aber dann doch sehr gefallen hat war, dass es kein überflüssiges Drama gab in der Beziehung zwischen Nikki und Riley.
Mein Lieblingsfigur in dem Buch war auf jeden Fall Nikkis Großmutter, sie ist einfach toll und voll lustig, ich hätte mir sehr viel mehr Szenen mit ihr gewünscht.
Was mich auch etwas gewundert hat war die Titel auswahl. Vielleicht habe ich etwas nicht mitbekommen, aber ich habe ein Frühlingsbuch erwartet und die Geschichte spielt im Januar und es kamen gar keine Blüten vor.
Im großen und ganzen war es ein tolles Buch für zwischendurch und ich würde jedem Empfehlen die Bücher davor zu lesen, weil man sonst mit Namen erschlagen wird und ich es mir schöner vorstelle, wenn man die Personen von den anderen Büchern schon kennt. Riley trauert immer noch der Chance Nikki näher kennenzulernen hinterher. Diese ist Knall auf Fall ohne sich zu verabschieden mit ihrer Schwester abgereist.
Nikki ist nicht glücklich und als sie herausfindet, dass ihre Schwester wieder zurück zu ihrem Ehemann geht, kündigt sie. Sie geht zurück ins Haus ihrer Großmutter und freut sich auf Riley, bei dem sie sich noch für die überstürzte Abreise entschuldigen möchte.
Charaktere/Handlung:
Nikki ist die Zwillingsschwester eines Reality-TV-Stars. Früher hieß es zusammen durch dick und dünn. Aber seit ihre Schwester Jordan mit Zane verheiratet ist, kommt Nikki nicht mehr an sie heran. Als Zane ein Sexvideo mit Jordan veröffentlicht, scheint sie von ihm wegzukommen. Aber bei ihrer Rückkehr muss Nikki feststellen, dass Zane etwas mit der überstürzten Abreise von Gansett Island zu tun hat und so löst sie sich aus dem Wahnsinn und Chaos und kündigt. Ihre Rückkehr nach Gansett Island hat auch was mit dem sexy Handwerker zu tun. Aber sie hat auch schlimmes hinter sich und hier zeigte sich der Zusammenhalt der Schwestern!
Riley fand Nikki auf den ersten Blick interessant. Aber die Chance war zunichte gemacht als die beiden Schwestern überstürzt abreisten.
Nikki kommt zurück und Riley und sie lernen sich besser kennen. Der ganze McCarthy Clan ist auch wieder mit von der Partie und gerade Maddie und Mac fand ich herrlich! Die Dialoge der Beiden luden oft zum lauthals lachen ein!
Der Schreibstil ist wieder in der dritten Person, wobei aus Nikkis und Rileys Sicht erzählt wird. Um das Ganze etwas aufzulockern werden aus der Sicht von den Anderen auch kleine Ausschnitte erzählt. Finde ich persönlich eine sehr schöne Sache, denn man bekommt immer wieder kleine Einblicke in das weitere Leben!
Mein Fazit:
Inzwischen ist das der 19. Band der Reihe und es wird nicht langweilig! Die Autorin schafft es in ihren Geschichten einen familiären Touch einzuhauchen und dies fühlt sich beim Lesen immer wie heimkommen an! Sicherlich sind manche Entwicklungen absehbar, aber das Buch unterhält und lädt zu einer kleinen Auszeit vom Alltag ein! Wunderbar! Ich freue mich auf weitere Bände!

Riley fand Nikki auf den ersten Blick interessant. Aber die Chance war zunichte gemacht als die beiden Schwestern überstürzt abreisten.
Nikki kommt zurück und Riley und sie lernen sich besser kennen. Der ganze McCarthy Clan ist auch wieder mit von der Partie und gerade Maddie und Mac fand ich herrlich! Die Dialoge der Beiden luden oft zum lauthals lachen ein!
Der Schreibstil ist wieder in der dritten Person, wobei aus Nikkis und Rileys Sicht erzählt wird. Um das Ganze etwas aufzulockern werden aus der Sicht von den Anderen auch kleine Ausschnitte erzählt. Finde ich persönlich eine sehr schöne Sache, denn man bekommt immer wieder kleine Einblicke in das weitere Leben!
Mein Fazit:
Inzwischen ist das der 19. Band der Reihe und es wird nicht langweilig! Die Autorin schafft es in ihren Geschichten einen familiären Touch einzuhauchen und dies fühlt sich beim Lesen immer wie heimkommen an! Sicherlich sind manche Entwicklungen absehbar, aber das Buch unterhält und lädt zu einer kleinen Auszeit vom Alltag ein! Wunderbar! Ich freue mich auf weitere Bände!

Meine Meinung:
Wunderschöner Liebesroman. Der Schreibstil hat mich sofort in den Bann gezogen. Die Geschichte ist von der ersten Seite weg sehr spannend und unterhaltsam. Die Autorin spielt sehr gekonnt mit den Emotionen der Protagonisten. Die Protas sind sehr sympathisch und haben ihre ganz besonderen Eigenheiten. Ganz besonders gefällt mir Nikki. Sie ist sehr sympathisch und bodenständig. Den Weg zu ihrer Persönlichkeit zu begleiten war für mich sehr spannend. Auch Riley gefällt mir sehr gut. Er ist sozusagen das Kücken unter den McCarthys und ich fand es sehr schön wie im Nikki ziemlich unter die Haut ging. Der Roman ist ein wenig ruhig gehalten und vor allem die emotionale Komponente macht ich ihn zu etwas ganz speziellem. Sehr schön fand ich wie die Protas aus den Vorbänden auch in dieser Geschichte ihren Platz gefunden haben. Der Abschluss war genau meins und ich bin schon sehr gespannt welcher Bewohner von Gansett Island der Hauptprota vom nächsten Band wird.

Wunderschöner Roman. Er ist ruhig aber emotionsgeladen. Ich mag die beiden Protagonisten und habe mit den Beiden mitgefiebert.

The story of Riley McCarthy and Nikki Stokes.
Riley is the older son of Kevin McCarthy, brother of Big Mac, making Riley part of the cousin tribe of McCarthys on Gansett Island.
Nikki has a twin sister named Jordan. Theirs is a troubled background, a mom with addictions problems and a dad who has a secret second family. The twins have come to hide out at the Hopper house on Gansett, an old mansion owned by their grandmother, who has been a safe harbor for them much as the Lawry clan's grandparents were. The Stokes girls have need to hide out because Jordan is married to a high profile music star who is abusive and he has released a sex tape featuring her. Jordan needs to be out of the public eye and Nikki is her sister's personal assistant.
Riley comes to the Hopper house to do some repairs and meets Nikki and instantly feels drawn to her. Their encounters only amount to a couple of conversations before Jordan up & decides to go back to her music star and Nikki accompanies her sister to California.
Riley sinks into a malaise over the next few months and decides he will move back to the mainland, but just as he takes steps to do this, Nikki abruptly shows up on the island and their love story begins.
As always, there are wrinkles--Nikki is a sexual assault survivor and is very reluctant to have a physical relationship with Riley. In addition, she has had no examples in her own life of men who stay and treat family lovingly.
