Rate this book
Follow Fizz through his police dog academy tryouts and training to become a dog detective, and on to his first cases. In Fizz and the Show Dog Jewel Thief (Book 3), Fizz's heart is beating fast. Today he begins his first case as an undercover police dog. At the last three show dog championships the winner's tiara has been stolen, and now it's up to him to find the criminal and protect the jewels.Told in simple but very lively language, with lots of playful repetition, short chapters and Stephen Michael King's quirky cartoon-style illustrations throughout, we think this hilarious and action-packed series is perfect for newly confident readers.

In Book 3, Fizz is finally going on his first undercover assignment! I love that this series appeals to dog-lovers and at the beginning of each book the author has all the characters laid out for you. It's fun to see familiar faces and also to see who might be new to each book!

This book revisits the theme from Book 1 and 2 about bullying (from the same dog) and also brings in some elements of identity and self-confidence. I think as the series has progressed the clues become a little more elusive and the suspects are a little trickier to narrow down (for kids at least). Fizz and his co-workers are on the scene of a famous dog show trying to catch a thief. Teamwork, reasoning and even moments of self-awareness are all visited in this book. Again, great lessons to be learned here and challenging enough for independent readers, but still approachable to be read to younger ones.

The author wrote another great case/sequel. This time undercover police dog Fizz teams up with his undercover buddy dog and nemesis police dog. Fizz gets to live out his family's dream of competing in a dog show competition which is exactly what he didn't want to do. But he has to compete to solve the case. Naturally the nemesis police dog, Amadeus, wants to go it alone, but just like in the last story, Fizz and he end up working together to solve the case. Fizz has to think quickly and I laughed at the visuals. I couldn't wait to read the next one.

Another fantastic Fizz book. My first grade teachers are reading the Fizz books (so far first two in series) and the kids are mesmerized. The books definitely appeal to young kids. What the teachers like is that there are words kids won't know but can easily be figured out within the context of the statement. In this book I enjoyed the clues, as I know the younger kids will

I enjoyed the first two Fizz books more. Fizz the dog is an undercover cop dog who tries to nab the thief with the help from two other dogs. I love that there are pictures on the bottom of the page. My five year old asked me to read it because of that, though it is a chapter book. Great introduction to mystery books.

Fizz returns and will be solving his first case as an undercover police dog. Together with his team they enter a dog championship undercover and figure out who is stealing the tiaras. Plenty of humor for elementary readers. Also gives them a chance to solve the case before the dogs do.

Fizz goes undercover as a pink ribbon girly-girl dog. He gets teased plenty, but at the end of the day, he is able to catch the thief.

Great series to read with all 4 of my young children. Chapters are short, illustrations are wonderful (and get the giggles going!), and keep my kids asking for more!
