I read this for my School Law grad course but I would recommend it to everyone who is involved in education! Dayton lays everything out in easy-to-understand terms. As he points out, ignorance of the law is not a defense that will hold up in court - educators are responsible to know the laws that govern public education and to abide by them. There are chapters covering families' rights, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, search & seizure, due process, equal protection of the law, disability law, employment law, and tort law. You can buy this on Amazon for about $30 - which is a bargain given what other law books go for. Dayton has YouTube videos to supplement his chapters as well. Seriously - if you're involved in the world of public education in any way or if you work with pre-service educators - I highly recommend it!
