typical of Abdullah hussein

slow build up of different plots in different frames of time almost covering three generations of a family . so a slow story at start and abrupt revelation of all the lost strings in the final plot

setup was same like nashaib by the same author ، mostly in suburbs and some touch of a city life . major theme of feminism , religious self righteousness and exploitation of poor , uneducated folk by religion and landlord , specifically by peers etc .

What an exceptional way to describe the contamination of the souls of our society. Story grips the iron of your attention like a magnet. Plot spins around the life of 3 generations of a family.

Qaid finds its setting in a village located in the unpartitioned subcontinent. A village kid, at the onset of his puberty feels restless at night and decides to explore his village at night. His father was a Peer (spiritual master) who was known to cure the ailments of his mureedeen (followers) through his spiritual powers. He lived in his Hujra (small room) outside the village. The boy decides to reach that room and finds his father exploiting a village woman. Thus begins a story where men exploit and women get sexually exploited. The theme was how religion was used to exploit the lives of people. Another theme was the lack of representation of the women in the struggles carried out in the subcontinent. Feminism never really found its place here until very late. And how that lack of representation, combined with exploitation led towards violence and mental disorders. A very nice read indeed for those wanting to know about certain aspects of the indigenous culture of the subcontinent.

The story starts slow but covers 3 generations of a family,
It starts with a kid wondering at some odd aspects in his sorroundings, which are unfolded in the later part of story.
Story is awesome, build up is slow but it gradually unfolds all the different plots which connects all the dots as the story progressess.
It majorly addresses the religious aspects of our society, about how people follow others blindly without thinking, questioning or understanding.
Secondly it also points out at the end of the story that most people just focus on improving lives of people in society, include everyone except the females which are also the part of our society.
Story unflods some dark aspects of our society, such as bad deeds done by people are revealed, no matter if its revealed at the last part of the life.

AbdUllah Hussain couldn't decide whether he's writing in favour of Peer Mureed culture or against it .
This story is not at par with Udaas Naslen & Nadar Log .

After listening the story of Peer Karamat Ali Shah , Peer Salamat Ali Shah doesn't change himself and writer leaves him dreaming of "sleeping with the young girls of neighbouring mawaziaat."

بہت خوب صورت تحریر، افسانے کی طرز پر لکھا گیا ناول ہے۔۔۔
کیا ہی خوب صورت طریقے سے زمانے مختلف اوقات کو استعمال کیا گیا ہے۔
کہانی ذرا دھیمی شروع ہوتی ہے پھر اس کے تانے بانے کمال مہارت سے ایک ہی جگہ جوڑ دیئے جاتے ہیں۔۔۔
