SUBMISSION IS HER ONLY ESCAPE...

And punishment takes many forms. Seeking escape from her criminal past, a desperate woman enslaves herself to a dark trio of men who own an antiquated Louisiana plantation.

Known only as Lydia, she becomes controlled by three very different men -- malicious Preston, inflexible Kruin, and gentle Gabriel, all of whom introduce her to a world in which the lines between pleasure, pain, and shame are irrevocably blurred.

The plantation becomes both Lydia's haven and her prison as she surrenders to the desires of her unholy trinity. Lydia's submission is fraught with tension and hunger, but what happens when the outside world enters her dark, anonymous sanctuary?

This book contains graphic scenes of submission, dubious consent, explicit sex, and good food. Read at your own risk.

No pic of Lydia, I just want you all to enjoy the boys...:D

This story...this menage story...this bdsm menage story...is about love, obsession, rejection and finally retribution. The book opens with the guys discussing Lydia's fate.

Who will I become?
Preston had smiled then. Ours.

Why are they discussing her fate? Because she's done some illegal things and as a consequence must go into hiding or she'll end up in prison. After not seeing him in years, Preston conveniently swoops in and suggests she shack up with him and 2 other guys if she wants to go off the police's radar. She foolishly accepts his terms and all the kink begins.

The guys submit her to all kinds of fucked-up shit and she takes it all, even enjoying it at most times.

My thoughts

Menage? Sure, I was on-board with the idea. What could be kinkier than menage?

I had my answer when Preston enforced his douchebaggy authority over Lydia and

Preston...

I couldn't quite figure him out. He was jealous and all like She's mine and then he went and did a shitty thing like that just because she *disappointed*

Gabriel...he was kind of a blur for me. He was the middle man, if you will, the cushion for Lydia's falls. He was there to bridge the gap between Preston and Kruin, which is why I found him mediocre.

Kruin is another story altogether. He's my favorite of the trio. He's all bad-ass and muscly. A man of few words. He's the kind of guy that doesn't tell you twice. If he says

Drop'em.

you better go ahead and drop'em...guns, panties, whatever.

As for Lydia, she is every man's/woman's perfect sex slave. Even if she says she hates it, her body proves her a liar. Not very feminist of me, you accuse? Well fuck you too! :)) This is a bdsm menage book, not a biography. I'll rate it and enjoy it as such.

The writing was great, the vocabulary rich. So rich in fact, that I couldn't stop giggling every time I stumbled upon feminine oils, vulva, prick, stalk, shaft, nub and wait for it......................................................phallus. :))

5 stars!!

Jane aka Lydia is a woman who grew up in New Orleans to a wealthy family, and always had all of life's luxuries & indulgences. She gets herself into some trouble with the law, and then her options are limited. No knowing where to turn, she contacts a man named Preston Severine that was a childhood friend. She hasn't spoken to him in over ten years, and isn't aware Preston has always had an obsession with her. He grew up with a crush on her, that eventually turned into lust. He has fantasized about her, and kept up with her whereabouts over the years.

 photo 3dfbe4eb-803c-4ec2-bf04-230e82f52679.jpg

In Lydia's time of need Preston offers her a place to escape to, but there are strings attached. Lydia moves to a beautiful plantation called La Nouvelle Vie that Preston owns. He lives there with 2 other men named Gabriel & Kruin. Preston makes it clear what will be expected of Lydia if he gives her a new life where she no longer exists to the outside world. Her identity will be concealed from now on, and she will be under Preston's protection. For Lydia to continue to be free she agrees to be the willing captive of these 3 men for them to basically do with her as they please. She is reluctant but really is out of choices, so she decides to be enslaved to these men, and submit to them.

 photo 0ab3c1b8-01cb-4727-b9ff-03d6a875fec2.jpg

The men are all very different, but ultimately all want a woman they can mold & command. They want to teach her to give & take pleasure. She is a bit defiant at first, & her new life is a major adjustment, but eventually she surrender's to her circumstances, and revels in their authority over her. She finds herself craving their approval, and learns to appreciate each man separately. There is an unspoken level of understanding & trust between them all, and she feels like she has always belonged with them. She is closest to one of the men who has a gentleness about him the other men lack. I would love for her to eventually have a relationship with this man. I look forward to reading book 2! This was an EXTREMELY erotic book with a little bit of everything & I thought it was very enjoyable! ;))

-No one will ever find you. You will cease to exist. Who will I become?

-Preston had smiled then. Ours.

-And to be truthful, a hidden part of her was curiously mesmerized by the whole idea of being completely taken.

-If you want to leave La Nouvelle Vie, then please do. I wouldn't want to cause you any distress." "Liar. My distress is what excites you." "Perhaps. And perhaps it excites you as well."

This was 100% for sure a hard core sex book. Without a doubt. For sure. Holy shit.

The "story" is about Lydia. Lydia is not her real name. She was caught embezzling money from this big corporation she worked for. When she was about to be caught/put in jail/arrested/whatever, a man from her past shows up and offers her a deal she can't refuse.

Preston knew "Lydia" back when she was in middle school/high school. She was untouchable. Rich, beautiful, powerful. But now that she needs help, Preston comes to save her. But not without intentions and motivations of his own. He offers to let her stay at his place where she can disappear (they never say how that works) and all of her legal troubles will be behind her but she must submit to Preston and his housemates. Preston holds a similar power over his two housemates as well but her relationship will be much, much different from theirs.

Lydia agrees and comes to live with Preston at his giant Louisiana plantation/mansion where he lives with those two friends, Kruin and Gabriel. She soon comes to find that Gabriel is the sweet, gentle one. Kurin is the disciplined, stoic one. And Preston. Well Preston is the malicious one.

What does Lydia get out of the bargain and can she handle what that is? Can she submit to these three men after living the life of a high powered corporate executive?

This book...I don't know what to say. It was hot. Like Hell in the summertime hot. I mean, yikes yikes yikes! Yeah, that was THREE yikes!! So there's LOTS of BDSM here. LOTS. She's the submissive and the men are the doms. Lots of sex: oral, regular and anal. There's voyeurism, too. There's hetero sex and teensy bit of F/F sex. I mean, it was like going from Skinemax to hard core porn. Like the hard core porn with strangling and shit! LOL! Not that I've ever seen that.... I'm just sayin'!

So she moves in with these dudes and Gabriel is all sweet and stuff, Kurin doesn't say much but he really doesn't like when she disobeys. And Preston is a creep who has essentially been stalking this chick since she was like 15 years old, no exaggeration. He has photos of her that she clearly didn't know were being taken. And he shows up just at the right time to save her. Yuck. And when he's with her, its just mean and filthy.

I didn't know if I should be sympathetic to her or not. Was Preston a creepy jerk or did he care about her? I just don't know. ****SPOILER ALERT**** In the end, she gets used to her situation, finds freedom and peace in it and is finally happy and really loves where she's at. I could see her falling in love with these guys down the road if there were more books. So, its all good, I guess. But while I was reading the book, I didn't know whether or not to hate Preston. I didn't know if she deserved her debasement. I didn't know if Gabriel really WAS sweet or if he was going to come in and hack her ear off or some shit. Some of it was rough sex and some of the things that were said and done to her, I really, REALLY didn't like. And nothing was done to her that she didn't like by the time it was over and that's just fine but it just seemed like too much.

But clearly, it was just too much for ME. If you really dig BDSM, I think you might like this. If 50 Shades of Grey got you off and you wanted more (and by "more", I mean more intense BDSM), I think you should try this book. If you're happy with normal romance novels, don't go here. I don't know that you'll like it.

Whoa! What a book! I was really in the mood for Dark Erotica this week and I got that and then some! You all know how I love books that come with a warning, but this time I have to start my review with a warning. This is Dark Erotica (how fitting is that title?!) It contains dubious consent, enforced submission, and more than that, humiliation… lots of it. HOWEVER, if you love well written dark erotica, hot like the pits of hell and kinky as fuck, then you have to read this!

A woman arrives at the grounds of La Nouvelle Vie, a Louisiana plantation. The woman is seeking to disappear from a criminal past. Her options are limited since the authorities are looking for her. So she seeks out Preston, an old… friend if you will. Preston arranges for her her to ‘disappear’, and in exchange, she moves to La Nouvelle Vie.

This is utterly your choice. You contacted me, remember? And I promise you nothing, except the unequivocal guarantee that no one will ever find you. You will cease to exist.

Who will I become?

Ours.

Preston lives with two other men, Gabriel and Kruin and while the woman is ashamed of what she has to give the three men in return, she has no other choice. And the three men name her Lydia.

The men seek to control Lydia, but all in their own way. There’s malicious Preston. He’s known Lydia since they were kids, but she never gave him the time of day. Preston has obsessed about making Lydia submit for as long as he can remember, making him the most unpredictable and malicious of the three. Kruin on the other hand is what I thought of as your usual Master. He is inflexible, expects submission from Lydia and in return is protective. Anything less than submission however will be highly punished. Gabriel is the gentle one of the three. He expects submission just like the other two, but is gentle, endearing even.

The book is written in the omniscient point of view allowing the reader to really get into the heads of all four characters. I loved this. I got to really ‘connect’ with the characters, especially with Lydia, Preston and Gabriel. I will admit that I thought the pain and the humiliation was a bit much, especially the latter. I’ve read books with humiliation but never in this quantity. However, there was a really good story of self discovery. One that I really enjoyed reading. See Lydia was a very successful, powerful woman prior to coming to the plantation. So it was interesting to see her submitting, learning more about herself, her dark desires and learning to not only accept it, but to enjoy it all.

It was interesting to read about the three men. I won’t say much of Kruin’s character other than the fact that just like Lydia, I loved that what you saw is what you got. He was either pleased or displeased, no two ways about it. Preston scared me. In a normal world he could belong in a padded room. He was obsessive, even jealous of the other two men. Gabriel was the light in this dark tale. Like a hero in an Erotic Romance novel :)

I am in complete awe of Nina Lane’s writing. I felt it all, the anger, the humiliation, the hope, the jealousy, the lust… all of it. I even understood Lydia’s need to please these men she came to refer to as The Dark Triad.

What an incredible book. Not for the faint hearted, but certainly a must read for lovers of dark erotica, and erotica as a whole.

4.5 disturbingly erotic stars! And I’m already anxiously awaiting the sequel!

Finally I’d like to thank the author for providing this copy for my honest review.

Holy cow this book has to be the smuttiest one I've read yet and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I felt myself cringing quite a bit at a lot of the stuff Lydia had to go through but always in the back of my mind I kept reminding myself that she came to be with these three men of her own free will.
Gabriel was the one I liked out of the three men since he showed Lydia true tenderness although he sometimes had wicked tendencies.

Looking forward to the second book :)

i knew going into this book that a lot of my friends had given it only 1 star but as i got deeper into the book the more i became aware of my likes and dislikes of books. they are for sure different from my friends. which i'm totally okay with.

Finding Lydia This about sums up ALL that happened to Lydia. all the bad, worst and horrid things and believe me there were moments where i questioned why i was still reading this book. I'm not too familiar with the BDSM world but should punishments go as far as it did in this book? does the Dom get to do whatever they want when it comes to punishment? there just has to be some limit.

overall i was very pleased with this book. Preston, even tho he was an ass knew who she really was inside and with the help of Gabriel and Kruin they brought her true being out.

I haven't given a one star in a long time. There is so much I take issue with in this book I don't know where to begin. To start I really enjoy BDSM books and three men, one woman really sounded up my alley. However, someone reading this is led to believe that in a bdsm relationship, the submissive gets humilated and hurt over and over with no discernable reason besides the dominant that you agreed to become his slave actually holds malice towards you? Where was the concern for her limits, where was her after care, where was the trust? It was gross. They would literally just humilate her, finish with her and leave her in a pool of their fluids. Only one of the men was even kind to her outside of scenes. And I was reading this thinking please tell me Preston gets kneecapped and the other two guys realize the err of their ways. Please tell me she doesn't just wake up one day and realize how much she loves getting treated like garbage because they gave her a couple of orgasms. Because of course a good D to her s would take care of her in return for her submission. But as I suspected the men never grow any redeeming qualities and she realizes she never wants to leave their relationship anyways. Maybe in the second book they will treat her with some respect but I won't know because that was crappy.

Life events forced Lydia into hiding, and the only place she could turn was to an old friend from her past that has a rather kinky dark side and his two equally kinky friends.

The reason this book gets four stars (instead of just one or two) was because of the fact that it was consensual non-consent mingled with some aspects of BDSM. (Let's be clear though, this book is NOT about real BDSM, and does a very poor job of portraying a real BDSM relationship.)

That being said, for a consensual-non consent book, it was written rather well. I couldn't seem to put it down. The writing was superb and this little book (that I was sure I would hate and put away) wound up keeping me hooked until the very end. I, like Lydia, came to understand her appreciation of her captors.

Had the book not been tagged as BDSM, it may have gotten five stars. But at this point, I am just so tired of books that have someone literally forced into submission and then passing it off as BDSM. The author (Nina Lane) does have forced submission in this book, but "forced submission" and "BDSM" are not the same thing. In fact, forced submission is something everyone I know who lives the BDSM lifestyle stands AGAINST. This book is a whole lot of FANTASY and some of the toys used in BDSM, it is not something you should ever aspire to in real life. It is a work of fiction.

I would have liked this book a lot better if some of the words used to describe parts of the body had been different. If you're going to go all out, then go all out. Basically, instead of saying "globes/large cushions", just go for it and say ass. Overall, it could have been a hot, hot read, but the word choices brought me out of the moment every time.

In the interest of complete disclosure, I didn't care for how contrived the situation felt to start this story and it colored my complete enjoyment of the book.

Jane has done some things that will make her not even good life much worse. To avoid an arrest and the baggage that comes with it, Jane decides to take Preston, an old acquaintance, up on his unusual offer.

Welcome to a Nouvelle Vie (A New Life) where the rules are simple, but include: don't cross your legs around us; Jane no longer exists, she has been replaced by Lydia and; Lydia will live at their Louisiana plantations; the three men are both your saviors and your torturers, don't play them against each other. With that ominous beginning, the corner Jane had been painted in disappears and Lydia indentures herself to Gabriel, Kruin & Preston as a sex slave for an indefinite period. Throughout the book the sex is flaming hot for this quartet. The character personalities were well defined and there was never a chance of confusion which character or character set was currently front and center. In my mind they were clearly: Safe Harbor/Gabriel (sheltering arms and all); Rock of Gibraltar/Kruin (ever sure & clear with expectations and; Ocean/Preston (deceptively calm and treacherously dangerous simultaneously). Lydia (of course was the ship in my scenario) finding her place here is quite beguiling as she moved between, tender, anonymous and punishing sex. As Lydia struggles to find her place and her power in this household, she also has to decide if the plantation is her haven, her home or her prison.

The cover is exquisite; the sexual set pieces are flamingly hot. It is well written, with an intriguing plot and intertwining characters that keep you reading. Overall, while I enjoyed the flow of this medium paced read, I confess to feeling let down by the unevenness of approximately the last 10% of the read. Personally, I wanted to love this book but I didn't, I liked it quite a lot, my personal mindset kept me from loving it. Make no mistake if you are not into erotica this is definitely not the book for you. However if erotica is your poison - grab this book immediately!

I was confused by the description of this, since it sounded like some sort of play on dubious consent but then it was listed as "BDSM" which is not really the same thing. After reading the book, I'm still confused though I think it is more the former than the latter.

There are a few things you should know before reading this book. It's written in the omniscient point-of-view, which is quite rare these days and at first feels like head hopping. It's also got a lot of flowery, purple prose reminiscent of the old bodice rippers. It reminded me of the Lisa Valdez books (Passion and Patience), which I loved but is not everyone's cuppa. This would be the erotica version of those. There are glistening stalks and quivering buttons, if you get my drift.

The thing that redeemed this book was that it's insanely hot. The first quarter of the book was a struggle, due to the items mentioned above and the weird premise, but when I got past that stuff - man! Really freaking hot. This is also a pure fantasy type of book. There are no condoms or safe words or anything like that. There's some sex, some pain and a LOT of humiliation. This last part probably explains a lot, actually. If you don't like pain or humiliation then DO NOT READ THIS. Seriously.

Basically, if you loved Valdez' Patience but thought it could have done with less plot and more kinky sex and humiliation, there you go. Though the ending was satisfying, there's supposed to be a sequel coming and I will definitely buy it.

This is going to be a hard book for me to review. On one hand I ate it up with a spoon, and then licked it clean. On the other hand it was WAY out of my comfort zone in terms of kink. I don't like humiliation as a kink. It is a hard limit for me and ties my stomach into a thousand knots.

Humiliation and dubious consent is basically what this book is about. Sure Lydia "TECHNICALLY" had a choice, but let's be honest here, the options Preston gives her are not really choices at all. The things that Preston and Kruin do to Lydia are mean and debasing and I didn't like either of them throughout the whole book. Gabriel on the other hand I loved and then the author had to go and have Lydia see him Now there wasn't a committed relationship between the four of them, and had it been Preston or Kruin it probably wouldn't have been an issue. But Lydia and Gabriel had an almost caring relationship. So I didn't like it.

Like I said, this is a hard one for me to review. The book itself kept me engaged. The characters were interesting, if not wholly likable. I mean these are people hiding out because they are criminals. I found it erotic as hell even with the majority of the encounters being of the humiliation type. I also plan on reading the sequel...So I guess I'll give it 3.5 "UNCOMFORTABLE" stars.

Very twisted, but I've read better in this particular genre. I needed a good enough reason for why the protag put herself in this position to begin with. The reasons that were given didn't sit well with me and also the ending felt like it was all resolved rather quickly and abrupt.

Apparently there's a sequel to this. Not feeling so inclined to even bother reading it. Wasn't that impressed with the first book and I have no idea why there's even a need for a second book.

I'm just done.

This book was HOT! But be warned it's dark and not for everyone. You have to be ok with dark reads along the lines of Kitty Thomas. You won't find any hero professing his undying love and willing to change his ways for the heroine. You will find a heroine, in a crazy extreme circumstance, that goes on a fascinating journey of self-discovery. And three very different but HOT alphas!! Yum!

This book was hot, but I really don't go for reluctance or force. One of the "Doms" in this book wasn't a Dom at all, he was a sadist. There is a BIG difference.

This book was a little bit of a different read for me. It begins with Jane (who the men choose to rename her Lydia) showing up at a place called "La Nouvelle Vie" where three men await her to become whatever they want her to be..Lydia is in a situation where she needs to disappear from the world as she has done something illegal. She had approached Preston, a man she had known through out her adolescence and asked him for sanctuary. He agrees but only on the condition that she will submit to him, a man named Kruin, and lastly Gabriel. As the story progresses you are shown how the three men are very different and they each treat Lydia very different as well. Preston enjoyed humiliating and punishing Lydia and he became very aroused doing it. Her relationship with him started off with her hating him. I had a hard time with the relationship with these two. More than a few times I wanted to turn around and slap Preston myself. I did not care for his treatment of her at all and found it hard to enjoy the scenes they had together.
Kruin was a very hard man also, and he got off on punishing Lydia. She feared him and what he might do to her. As much as Lydia feared him, she also craved his approval and she was confused as to why.
Then there is my favorite and that is Gabriel, who I thought of as the gentle soul. Lydia also developed trust and feelings for Gabriel pretty much from the start because he did treat her so kindly.
So the book goes through the relationships and the sex with these three men and Lydia. The sex scenes were hot and as the story progressed I started to see the relationships between Lydia and the men develop and get better. Another book that had me go through a roller coaster of feelings which in my opinion always makes for a good book. I look forward to the next book and I only recommend this book to people who don't mind some conflict, humiliation, and punishment dished out in the relationships of the characters.

Overall: I just want to start out by saying that this book needs a warning label with a big red sticker on it and than maybe another warning label on the first chapter. lol I also want to say that i did "like" the idea for the book, but at times the humiliation and other things kind of left me a little upset because i wasn't used to it and I couldn't understand why Lydia was putting herself through it. But as the book progressed and the point of views would change, I was able to get a better understanding of the situation and also the men. Of course Gabriel was my favorite by far because he seemed to be so tender and sweet. I HATED Preston from the beginning to the end of the book and Kruin just seemed to be a background character. ( I hope he gets more love in book 2 ) I kind of wished the author would've blended Gabriel and Preston's character together because I think he would think that he would've been more "in love" with her because of all the years of obsessing over her. The masquerade party at the end of the book also threw me for a loop 1. because of the slime ball Wallace and 2. the public display Preston forced her to endure. It seemed after the morning after the party everything seemed to change for the trio and i hope it was for the better. For a dark erotica this was a very thrilling and adventurous read that is not for the light of heart.

Characters: Lydia ; Preston ; Gabriel ; Kruin

Page Turner: OMG YES! I don't think i put the book down

Series Cont: Yes and i can't wait to see where things go !! hehe lol

Recommend: Yes, but you have to be into dark erotic reads otherwise you won't care for this book.

This was one of those books that I felt so naughty reading, I shut my Kindle off every time my kids walked in the room. There was some serious kinky, dubious, "what the hell" moments going on.

Lydia decides to live with three extremely dominant men in order to avoid jail time, but she definitely gets more than she bargained for. She is at their mercy in all things. Not only is her body used for Gabriel, Kruin and Preston's sexual gratification, but Preston head fucks her as well. Preston was a full fledged looney in my book. I think jail sounds better than being his submissive. Kruin was unyielding and I felt he was secretive as well. You don't learn a lot about his character but you get the sense that he's the one you don't want to underestimate. Occasional moments of his softer side came out but for the most part, he was the silent threat. Gabriel was the only normal male in the bunch. He still got off on Lydia's pain and punishments, but he never humiliated her the way Preston did, nor was he so cold towards her like Kruin. Gabriel showed Lydia kindness and he was also protective of her.

The writing flowed nicely. The plot was original and it held my attention the entire way through.
This is one of those books you won't be able to easily forget.

Girl in trouble for embezzlement, guy offers her escape by whisking her away into his plantation and wiping her existence from the map. Sounds like something I've read a million times before BUT, it was a little different. Instead of one man who is the somewhat her new 'owner', there are three, strong , dominant in their own way men whom, enjoy her, but do not 'own' her.

I liked the story. It had a steam factor which i enjoyed. I think Preston was suppose to be unlikable, but i ended up liking him and his scenes with Lydia the most ( what does that say about me? lol). It ended well, although i think her moment with Gabriel was rushed and ened too quickly.

The writing was a little annoying because, ( especially Preston) spoke in a way that, made him seem older and British. And as far as i know, i think he was neither. Plus, u never do get a background on him. He excessively uses "darling" and the sentences like " for she thought something something...." and " for he saw her something something" were on every chapter.

I loved the cover though. Cover gets 5 stars, book, just 3.

Okay if you like romance move along if you like the darker side of sex, the one the straddles the line of decency this smutty erotic novel is for you. And me!

They called her 'Lydia' she had made her choice, in exchange for hiding her away from the authorities who wanted her for embezzlement they now owned her mind, body, and soul. They being, Preston, Gabriel and Kruin. These three are as different as can be and each touch a part of Lydia in a way she craves for but also in ways she despises.

This book is wrought with humiliation for Lydia. Steamy, slutty sex. Aspect of BDSM with the use of a cat o' nine tails, a whip, a cane etc. There is MFM, FMF, Group play, and more!

If you like it down and dirty you will enjoy this book. While the story isn't super strong the characters are and the sex, well the sex is just down right dirty!!!!!

4 hardon causing stars for this books for me.

I gave this two stars because it was well written and I did like it enough to finish but that is about it. I have read a lot of dark BDSM before. I have no problem reading about dubious consent, but this one did not work. It wasn't that I was offended, I just felt bad for her and wanted her to escape for 70% of the book. I never liked half the characters and the sex was not that hot. There was not enough of a story arch. At the end, it just seemed like she forced it to go a certain way, instead of letting the story tell itself. I do not recommend this book.

The title says it all, The Erotic Dark. This is not 'girl meets BDSM Dom and changes his wicked way's; this is dark, twisted, and raw, and extremely well written book. Lane's character studies in this book are powerful, and the character of Lydia is stripped literally and figuratively bare, down to the bareness of her stark essence.

“Yes, she had learned to fully live at La Nouvelle Vie, even to stretch the boundaries of what she had once thought living really was. This was no longer about her arousal. It was about becoming the role that had been assigned to her. It was about finally realizing that she was – that she had always been – Lydia.
The Erotic Dark is about the self-discovery of Lydia’s innermost sensual nature and her natural eroticism that is yet to be trained and explored. This is a dark yet fascinating story that will make you want more from the author, Nina Lane. I didn’t expect so much from this, but fuck me! the story was so good I think it topped most of my books in the favorites list. This is a complete package of my favorite materials: BDSM, ménage, sensuality, pure carnal pleasure, pain, total power exchange and erotica. The Erotic Dark is a short story that will put you at the edge of your seat and make you squeal from excitement, angst and humiliation.

The Erotic Dark photo makelove3_zps90d6df18.gif

The dynamics of the story is something to look forward too. It isn’t just about a simple exploration of the life of Lydia as a submissive but you will also see the common things to expect in a BDSM relationship and incorporating it into the story as if it was a natural thing to expect from the characters wasn’t an easy feat. There was no offhandedness from the story especially from the author’s characters. I’ve read some reviews before starting the book and I respectfully disagree with some comments. I love reading BDSM books especially with ménage and this has been a good one for me. I think their dislike with The Erotic Dark is quite unwarranted just because of Preston being a big asshole and jerk at the start of the story. Anyways, everyone is entitled to their own opinion so I wouldn’t question somebody else’s review. Well, let me just start with introducing the characters of the book and decide for yourself if this would be a good start for reading the book. ;)

The Dark Triad : Kruin, Gabriel and Preston.
Their slave/submissive/whateveryouwanttocallher : Lydia

“His name was Kruin. It sounded exotic and strange, like a name from the ancient deserts of Egypt or that of a cruel, medieval king.
Kruin
Kruin photo Kruin_zps604cbb30.jpg

Kruin is the hardest to please amongst the dominating trinity. ”Solid as a rock, hard as nails, as enigmatic as a puzzle.” He’s not very expressive and he keeps a straight face at whatever is laid upon him. However, his humongous, impressive cock is well very… participative and easily aroused. When it comes to punishments, Lydia would immediately go pale whenever she sees him. Later on, even from the severe spanking and belt-whipping of Kruin, Lydia has finally wanted to always please him and get praised.

“She looked at Gabriel. He was the one whose company she most enjoyed, the man with whom she wanted to spend long hours talking, laughing, and riding their horses. He aroused her with easy authority, making her want to pleasure him with the same intensity that she experience at his hands. He was a beautiful man – gentle and kind, but with a distinct edge of power that she found highly captivating.
Gabriel
Gabriel photo Gabriel_zpsed73ba6c.jpg

Gabriel is a soft-spoken man with an edge of authority and dominance to his voice. He’s gentle and very accommodating towards Lydia. He held off his sexual interest towards Lydia because he thought if he starts now, he won’t be able to stop. I guess it was a good thing because I’ve been looking forward to it ever since Lydia laid her eyes on Gabriel. He’s one hell of a hot and sexy guy! I want my own Gabriel now, please… By the way, have I mentioned his “prick” also rivals that of Kruin? Well I guess, you better read it for yourself. Haha!

“There was Preston, who had agreed to provide her with a sanctuary in exchange for his domination over her. His authority was edged with vindictiveness and a hint of cruelty, yet his need for revenge was tempered by his evident desire and affection for her.
Preston
Preston photo Preston_zps9863424a.jpg

Preston is a man beyond the word “asshole.” He was too much. And I somehow agree with some reviewers that he was quite over the top – the humiliation, the punishments and pain. However, I think he’s growing on me. His cockiness coupled with his ability to bring out the most pleasurable experience within Lydia earned him a soft spot in my heart. In the end, he’s been fundamental in Lydia’s development and self-discovery. If I may add, amongst the three dominants in the household, Preston doesn’t have his own share of a monstrous cock but he would compensate for it with his intensity and roughness which Lydia loves very much.

Lastly, we have Lydia. It is the name she earned from escaping the outside world and living in the plantation as a submissive. She’s not very pretty from what I’ve learned but as the story progresses, I imagine her to be quite beautiful, sensual and full of passion. Her need for control which most of the time slips out of her role and several transgressions would earn her a punishment or two, she still held her head high and finally realization dawned on her that control and power is still in her hands – in the role of a submissive.

Lydia photo sensual_zps0ad390d8.jpg

Overall, I like the pacing of the story. In a span of a few weeks I think a lot has already happened in the book, I didn’t even notice I’m already done with it. I said, ”That’s it? What the fuck! I want more!”. Thankfully, the very last page says it’ll have a second book, entitled ”The Erotic Light” It hasn’t shown its release date yet and the book hasn’t appeared yet in Nina’s GoodReads profile. I’ll be looking forward to it! I can’t wait!! The Erotic Dark has the perfect plot, storytelling, characters and setting. Moreover, the sensuous, descriptive writing of Nina Lane was always something to look forward to as the chapters go by. This is the first of her books that I’ve read but I’ve bump up my to read list with her book, Arouse.

Friends, if you’re looking for a short, sizzlingly sexy book, filled with sex and BDSM elements, this is the book for you. Grab a copy and start reading! ;)

5 stars Dark erotica, BDSM, Domestic Discipline, Humiliation, Dubious Consent

Summary

Jane was a bad girl that needed to disappear before she was arrested. She ask for help from an old neighborhood friend, that offers her help with a price attached.

Jane becomes Lydia, a plaything/slave for this three totally different man.

Lydia finds in each man something different, but within the triad and her new place, everything she was looking for but didn't know.

Cover 5 stars
A truly beautiful cover. I love how it represents perfectly the main characters and I also loved the black & white colors. I would definitely buy this book just by it's cover because I would know looking at it, that it would be erotica with submission. Masterpiece!

Characters 5 stars
Lydia - such a rich "heroine". An incredible multidimensional character, Lydia takes me into a roller coaster of emotions.
Yes she was a bad girl from the start, but she got her second chance/wind... and she really grabbed it.
I could relate with her, I did connect with her and at the end I understood her. What else could I expect from a character?
"Three men, all of whom had more control over her than anyone ever had in her entire life, all of whom had proven their ability to evoke infinite levels of both sensation and emotion in her physical body"

The triad:
Gabriel - Who wouldn't fall in love with him? He was the gentle soul, the safe harbor and the easiest to love of the triad.
I really enjoyed that even though she need the trio, she could love one, or better yet, she could feel loved by one of them. He was her favorite and he deserved to be.
He was the proud one. He only gave her, what she voiced for him. Even though he was the "Dom" she the "sub" he never gave her anything that she had not learned inside that she wanted.
"It might be the only thing keeping both her and me sane."

Kruin - His name really matches him. He is mysterious, but he is also the strength of the group. He made everyone feel protected, cared for.
He liked to discipline her. He was the more strict and them and the one she wanted approval from the most.
"Her warmth was also evoked by Kruin's enigmatic yet affectionate power"

Preston- He is a hard one to talk about. He is hateful really. He is in a quest for vengeance from some misgivings of a teenage that she wasn't even really aware. But I understood in the end how important his role is for the book and also for Lydia. He really knew her better than herself at some extent. He was obsessed with her since they were kids and to be able to understand and forgive him was a huge step for Lydia. In his crazy way he has always loved her. He liked humiliation and total submission.
"Your offer came with a heavy price, but if it weren't for you..." "You gave me a whole new life."

plot 5 stars
Lydia journey through self discovery is painful, hurtful, shocking, but so so so good. Really I did feel all of Lydia's emotions along the way. I did hurt and I did love with her.
The author explained so well her emotions and feelings.
She doesn't give us a lot of background on the man, but this book is all about Lydia and we learn and feel Lydia deep inside.
It was not a very easy story to follow at the beginning, but afterwards it gets the flow. I was always trying to guess what would happen next and the intensity of feelings grew along the way. I ended the book really wanting more. I want the second book NOW! lol

sex heat 5 stars
Wow! Yes it's mostly dubious consent, but is hot hot hot! Really really hot! Needing cold shower hot! Wow!

originality 5 stars
I love to rate thinking of what has the author offer me new.
Let me tell you, Nina Lane gave me a totally different book than anything I've read before. I do read a lot!
Is this all believable and credible? I'm not certain, but she sold it to me. :)

editing 5 stars
Excellent editing work. I remember only one typo mistake.
Her writing is also superb!

Impressions, Opinion

Nina Lane has a lyrical way of writing that it's not usually found in erotica read, specially contemporary books. I really like it, IMO it makes it richer and it matches her stories. But I know that it bother some people.

A book that takes me into a roller coasters of emotions, that offers me almost a cathartic experience is a wonderful book IMO!
So, for me, this book was PERFECT!

I'm really looking forward to the next book, because it does leave us with feelings of unfinished business.

I recommend to anyone that wants to read DARK erotica. I meant dark! It's not your usual BDSM books with predefined DOM/sub roles.

I discovered Nina Lane when I happened upon her truly gorgeous Spiral of Bliss trilogy – she really is a purveyor of elegant smut and that particular trio of books ranked and still ranks amongst my top reads of all time so I was delighted to discover that Nina had dived into the relatively murky waters of darkish erotica before she began the Spiral of Bliss trilogy and written a hidden little gem – The Erotic Dark.

The story centres around a woman (we’ll call her Lydia although that’s not her real name) – Lydia has embezzled some money and has pretty much picked herself up a one way ticket to jail. Her only chance of avoiding doing time is to disappear completely and the slightly strange and now alarmingly rich Preston Sevine, a kid from the wrong side of the tracks of her childhood, offers her just that option. But, of course, this doesn’t come without conditions. Along with his two housemates, Gabriel and Kruin, she must submit to their every sexual desire – when they want her, however they want her.

It’s deliciously dirty as all three of these men satisfy their fairly dark urges on Lydia who finds herself falling under their spell and relishing the peace away from the world that her enforced captivity has provided. Preston is strange, edgy and has been obsessed with Lydia since their childhood and he’s darkly sadistic and not fond of sharing. Kruin is dark, enigmatic and hard to please and only the gentle Gabriel offers her some kind of tenderness.

This really is high quality smut – highly titillating and very compelling. I found myself glued to the pages and desperate to move quickly onto book two, The Erotic Light, after finished the first book.

There’s a considerable gap in time between Nina writing these two books and I think you can tell – the first book really just is pure smut. Very enjoyable smut but smut none the less – it also uses quite flowery language to describe the sex scenes and the parts involved (!) and often it reminded me a little of that outrageous piece of Georgian porn, Fanny Hill: Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure.

It definitely feels like a more experienced hand has taken the reins of the second one and it’s far more romantic and moves us on from pure smut to real plot development as the story moves away from a captive situation to a more classic romance. I’m not telling you which of these three men Lydia ends up with but be prepared for plenty of twists an shocking plot developments.

I very much enjoyed both of these – Nina really is one of my faves – I found myself really rather addicted and couldn’t wait to get back to these books once I had had to put them down. So, it’s a fantastic piece of erotica and erotic romance. Definitely a recommended read.

I was at a loss for how to rate this book. Ultimately I decided 4 stars was pretty close, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable liking it that much, LOL. If Preston, one of the 3 male leads in this story, hadn't been such a complete asshat, and had there been a little real romance, I would have given it 5 stars. The sex was incredibly hot. The domination/submission elements made me sweat! What was uncomfortable was the relationship between Preston and Lydia, the female lead (and submissive). I have a problem with a Dom approaching any submissive with an attitude of anger, distain, and a desire for revenge. Because of that dynamic, I wanted to hate this book and couldn't. It is well written, and I can assure you it will mess with your mind and emotions! In the end you recognize Preston's obsession with "Lydia" has some degree of caring, but he rarely shows it. The other two Doms were great! Gabriel is strong but caring and develops a growing friendship with Lydia. Kruin, my favorite Dom, is strong and stern, protective and demanding. Lydia fears him, but is drawn to him and totally trusts him. Kruin is an AWESOME character!

Warning . . . . Erotic Dark is well named as it is very definately dark erotica, It is NOT for the faint of heart. It is NOT a romantic BDSM novel. It contains some scenes that will excite you and disturb you because they do. It contains a lot of humiliation including public humiliation, and some dub-con, but ultimately Lydia was in the situation because she chose to be, and as the story progresses you realize this is a process of her self discovery.

Warning for Spiral of bliss lovers from Nina Lane. This is not a romance, it’s erotica.

Ever have had fantasies about a stern character you wanted to please, a twisted man you couldn’t help but to get aroused in spite of him being nasty to you, or a caring and gentle one? It goes without saying all three are different but gorgeous and well endowed. In this book you’ll find the three together.

The fantasy is set. The leading female character, Lidia, is not a pleasing one. She agrees to enslave herself because she has done some kind of financial crime. Preston, the nasty one, remembers her as being haughty, full of herself and disdaining. She is like a world away from Livy in Arouse. But I feel that this is what makes this novel believable. It wouldn’t make any sense with Liv’s character.

Bottom line: good, hot, slightly kinky erotica.

I was really surprised with 'The Erotic Dark'. It was an actually good story with the dark eroticism elements. It's sometimes hard to find good erotica with an actual good plot story that doesn't come off as reading like a lame porno script. This story was able to overcome that. All the characters had there own personalities and own kink. The plot line was about the h, Lydia, skimming money from her clients, she's caught and about to be investigated. She knows she guilty so instead of risking a chance at trail she calls apon an old friend Preston. He offers her a deal to live in his house and be the submissive him and two friends and he will help her disappear forever. She agrees, which starts off the story. I read this book straight threw. I couldn't put it down. My only complaint was I thought it was going to be a little darker, but this is only the first book, there is going to be a second latter in summer, which I fully plan on reading. Overal, I am very happy with my purchase.

The erotic dark has a very interesting plot and start to the book. A few things really annoyed me and made me give this a lower rating.

You don't know what is going on in Gabriel's and Kruin's head for most of the book maybe even perhaps all of the book.

I get that Preston pined over Lydia for years but him constantly humiliating her got a little old. He finally has her. Enjoy her.

The ending (the last 10% of the book) seemed like the author was just over with this part of the story (since there is supposed to be another book in the near future). It didn't flow well with the book. You see the three guys starting to care for her in their own way but I think it would have been better to get into that a bit more.

I want to know more about Kruin. I don't feel that he got enough book time so hopefully he gets more in the next installment.

Of course I will be picking up the next book. It was a good read for the most part and had good writing.
