Rate this book
You met them in DREAM A LITTLE DREAM OF ME. Now prepare to fall in love with THE YOUNGERS, a brand-new series from Iris Morland, full of sexy men, passionate women, and the love stories you can't get enough of.

A free-spirited artist and animal activist, Thea Younger only wants to make the world a better place. She’s a lover, not a fighter—except when it comes to people like the ruthless billionaire Anthony Bertram.

Anthony represents everything that she detests, no matter how handsome or rich he is. When Thea has the opportunity to take part in a social media campaign to hurt his company, she jumps at the chance.

Merciless and driven, Anthony Bertram built his company from the ground-up, dedicating every waking moment to creating one of the most powerful corporations in the world.

Yet he almost lost it all when his marriage fell apart. Embittered from his divorce, Anthony knows from experience that love only makes you weak.

When his company is threatened a second time by a slanderous social media campaign, Anthony vows to discover who is behind the lies and to take that person down.

But then fate intervenes. Thea’s much-needed vacation takes a turn when she finds herself trapped in a cabin with none other than Anthony himself.

Thea wants to hate Anthony, but as she gets to know the man behind the mask, she realizes he isn’t a monster at all. He’s all man—and one whose kisses she can’t resist. Desire flames between them until both surrender to exquisite temptation.

But as secrets loom over them, Thea and Anthony must look inside their hearts and find the courage to take a chance on love.

I have to say that I always try with everything that I've got, to give the author a fair chance & finish the book. I can't remember the last time I gave a DNF rating & was very tempted with this one. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the book, it was me, I could not connect with any of the characters. Not one. This began with two people disliking each other until they didn't. Feelings came into play, they misunderstood many situations & finally a HEA. The premise of the story was interesting, but It just wasn't for me.

I read an ARC copy of this.

I enjoyed this book but not as much as the first one this series. I just didn't like Thea and Anthony as much. They both a some tough personalities to deal with. I get that they both have had some hard times but it after awhile it was too much. I was glad that they got past everything and was able to work it out in the end.

When Thea and Anthony are forced to take refuge in a cabin to get away from a storm, neither realized it would end up changing their lives. Anthony is a bitter, hard man who runs his company the way he sees fit. Thea is a free-spirited woman who's intent on making him and his company see just how wrong they are for continuing to test their products on animals. Neither thought they'd end up falling love during that short stay at the cabin. And Anthony never realized Thea was the one who had been putting his company's reputation in the toilet.

I loved the premise of Taking a Chance on Love, unfortunately the execution left me lukewarm. I never connected to Anthony or Thea. Yes there's steam aplenty, but the emotional connection was certainly not present among all the steam. It's a shame that most interesting part of their relationship turned out to be just sex and not love.

I received an ARC via Hidden Gems Books for an honest review.

dnf at 8% I need realism in my stories unless they are fantasy or sci-fi.

Thea arrives at the cabin close to midnight. So where did she get the keys? Come on, no one would leave a cabin open for a guest. And of course someone is already inside, so it would have been locked anyway!!

And then she throws away the food in the fridge - remember its midnight by now - and then hears someone coming down the stairs so she goes and hides. Duh

The bit that had me nearly throwing my Kindle across the room was when she hides in the pantry armed with a butcher knife and launches herself at the intruder. THEN she recognises him!!

HOW?? Come ON. Get real. Its midnight. She is terrified and this guy - wearing only boxer shorts - has grabbed her and pushed her to the floor and she INSTANTLY recognises him as someone she has only ever seen on tv before??? Nope. Not going to happen.

I loathed Thea. She was smug and self-centred and selfish. She didnt give a damn about how her actions could hurt other people, whereas Anthony came across as a decent bloke.

The plot was built on quicksand and I gave up trying to believe it.

Not rating.

To look through the eyes of love, one has to listen with their heart. Iris Morland is a reminder that not everything is logical especially when it comes to feelings. Sometimes we have to shut off our brain and let our emotions guide us. Taking a Chance on Love is based on hope, but rooted in faith. Thea and Anthony are in for a surprise when it comes to the language of the heart. They may not know it, but the best is yet to come. I am in awe.

This is the first book I have read in this series. I'm not sure what to say. It was an ok book. There was a lot of hurt, anger, betrayal, and sex, but I didn't really feel any of it.

I read the words, but somehow they managed to not generate any of the associated emotions. Anthony and Thea's relationship read like it should be pretty intense, and I felt some of it while they were at the cabin. Then it seemed to fizzle out.

I was surprised regarding what occurred with her friend Mittens. Surprised at his action, her response, and the ultimate resolution. I didn't dislike this book. It was just an ok read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received from Hidden Gems.

Awesome story!! Anthony Bartram is your typical billionaire - confident, arrogant and all such dominating qualities that comes from the power of building his own empire. When his life's worth of work is criticised by the animal supporters claiming to bring down his company he is more than frustrated. He gets away from all these tension to a cabin also rented by Thea for a vacation away from her dead end job. What he doesn't know is that the campaign against his company was lead by Thea and her friend. Due to the storm, they happen to stay together in the cabin during which Thea glimpses the man behind the mask of the arrogant CEO. They're attracted to each other and Thea wants to reveal who she originally is. But all the chances of talking went out the door the moment they are together. What happens when Anthony realises who Thea is? And more than that how will he feel when his trust in her is shattered by her actions??
There are so many things to love in this book as,
✓Anthony knowing Thea's insecurity in exposing her talent, pushes her in that direction. That's how love works not only we do bring ourselves up but to support and help our loved ones in their growth.
✓Thea, when realising Anthony's true nature, feels guilty for having pegged him as the heartless man and makes her most to make him realise the man he is.
✓Anthony who considered his company was his life, realises his love for Thea and unselfishly decides to let go of the company for LOVE.
✓Thea, though tries to make him understand her side of the story, doesn't want to lose her self-worth by begging him.
✓Inspite of having a difficult childhood, Thea is sweet enough to forgive her parents showing her sweet nature and finally when she can't take any more crap and tells off her Boss, she is one true Badass woman.
✓The end where Anthony visits Thea at her art show - it's the sweetest moment of the book.
On the whole, TAKING A CHANCE ON LOVE is the story of two people who were actually kind of enemies, understood each other better, brought out the best in the other and fell in love. Yet another beautiful couple!!
I'm voluntarily reviewing the advanced copy of the book received through Hidden Gems ARC Program and this is my honest opinion of the book.

💕Can a torrential 💧downpour and its aftermath help Thea see the positive side of a man she detests!😯

Format: Kindle Edition
👍👍What a great 💜 romance, serious and humorous alike, and the amount of conflict versus romance and sharing their backgrounds and feelings was just right. I thought the story extremely well written, with MCs that I really liked and just the right amount of secondary characters to play off the MCs without creating confusion about who's who. The heat is there but Iris Morland did not go overboard with it, something that I appreciated. Unlike many romance writers, she gets it that sometimes "less is more!"

Nobody in this story is perfect and their preconceptions, prejudices and mistakes make the story all the better. Even Thea's friend Milton, who I thought was a bit of an opportunistic wheeler dealer, had his good points along with the bad. There were a couple of villains that darkened their doorstep and upped the angst, but most of the characters were likable despite their flaws. I was delighted by some plot twists at the end that I truly did not see coming, and with the way Anthony and Thea helped each other grow and go for what they truly wanted out of life. A bit uplifting, I'd say:-)

This story also piqued my interest in the lives and loves of Thea's four siblings, so I may have to go back to learn more about Teddy and Liz's, and Ash and Violet's stories, and look out for Phin's upcoming book, which is previewed (just a smidgen) in the epilogue.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Thea Younger never ended up getting her degree, and now works as an administrative assistant for an attorney’s firm. She is not happy with her job, but it pays well for her small town. She loved art, but a famous artist had put her art down when she was younger, so she lost all confidence in herself and won’t show it to anyone or pursue it. She became vegan a couple years ago and is against companies using animals to test their products on. Anthony Bertram is CEO of his cosmetics company who uses animals to test products. Thea came up with a campaign against the company to protest their using animals for testing. Thea went to a cabin in the mountains for two weeks to get away. Unfortunately there was a mix up and the cabin was rented to her and another individual. That individual was none other than the handsome CEO Anthony Bertram. This was where things got fun!

Anthony seemed to be a heartless man that didn’t care if anyone liked him or not. He didn’t have a loving family, and his wife has messed him over big time. So he puts all his effort into his company. Thea sees another side of Anthony that makes her think if she had done the right thing about protesting Anthony’s company. There is betrayal in the book that some as intentional and other unintentional. The back and forth between Thea and Anthony kept me on my toes. The changes that took place in each of their life’s made me happy. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read it. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

I loved reading this book!
The emotions, & their chemistry pulled
me in, & kept me hooked, till the end.
It is heartfelt, steamy & emotional story.
Thea is an artist & free spirit. She has
a two week vacation planned, in a
mountain cabin. Arriving at midnight,
due to a rainstorm, Thea just wants to
go to sleep. Hearing a noise upstairs,
she realizes she isn't there alone.
After Thea & Anthony scare each other
to death, they take a breathe from arguing. They find out that they've
both been scheduled for the same cabin,
at the same time.Their instant dislike
for one another in intense.
Thea & Anthony stand their ground,
trying to get the other one to leave,
except the rainstrom had other ideas.
Thea has a big secret. Anthony owns
the company she started a social media campaign against for animal testing. Anthony's life is craving in on him.
Between the animal activists, board of directors & his "ex wife" wanting more money, he needs a break. And since the
bridge washed away, no one was going anywhere. Thea & Anthony avoided
each other as much as they could.
When they weren't arguing, there was
no denying their chemistry is sizzling.
Finally back home, Thea & Anthony
can't stop thinking about each other.
He's shows up one night at her door. Anthony has to have Thea. He revealed a secret to her, that people didn't know about. He trusted her. That is, till the secret shows up on the front page. Thea's betrayl hurt Anthony deeply. Can they find a way to make it work, even after all the pain?
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!

Enjoyed the story and characters, but it needed a lot more. Not much happened. And I don’t get how they claimed to fall in love with each other when they barely spent any time together. Supposedly, they spent 2 weeks alone in a cabin together yet the author chose to have them completely ignoring each other 99% of the time! That time should have been spent on them getting to know each other and falling in love as it made NO SENSE that when they got back to the city that they missed each other and realized they were in love. Huh?! Wasn’t believable at all. This was a spin-off of her Thornton series and the 2nd book in the Younger series. It is my least favorite of all of them. So much could have been done with this, but wasn’t. Had I not enjoyed the characters and what there was of a story, it would have gotten a lower rating. I rated the other books in the series as 3’s also because I think there all okay, but not great. Grammar and flow of the story was very well done. I was immersed in the story. My rating system is 1 star hated it, 2 star- didn’t like it, 3 star- was okay/good, 4 star- really liked it (really enjoyed it and would likely read it again. 5 stars- loved it! I enjoyed the other books in both series, but I probably wouldn’t read them again. They got 3’s. A lot of them could have had the characters get to know each other better, and that was the main piece of the story missing for me in pretty much all the books. But in this book, there was basically NO getting to know each other at all! Disappointing really.

I received the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the third book I have read by this author in this series (or prior series). Fortunately I have received the last three books in order from Hidden Gems. I really enjoy some of the characters and the secondary ones that have been featured in other books by this author. This is definitely an opposites attract story with a HEA ending!! For me, it was a 3.5* story. This is the story of Thea Younger who meets her arch-nemesis, Anthony in a secluded cabin and gets stranded there.

Although I enjoyed the book, that was more to do with the author’s style as I had some issues with story. First, I was not a fan of Anthony and even though the author tried I did not feel like he ever redeemed himself. Not to say I was much of a fan of Thea. She works in a job that she hates and seems to think her boss should be okay with her attitude. She is an artist, but is still paralyzed by criticism from years ago and does not plan on pursuing her art as a career. I found her frustrating and difficult to relate. They both grow tremendously throughout the book, and especially once they are separated. It says a lot about the author's talent and environment she has created in this series that even though I had issues with the main characters, I still wanted to see where the story went and how they would come together.

Thea and Anthony are finding that the thin line between love and hate is razor sharp indeed and that sometimes the people you least expect are the ones you need the most. Thea is overworked, underappreciated, and unfulfilled. If all things were puppies and rainbows she would be a fabulous famous artist, but those dreams are long dead. The only remotely self actualizing thing she has done lately is take on a giant consortium for their heinous practice of animal testing. She figures she is just going to use this two week vacation in the woods to recharge and hopefully regroup. She never expected the man whose company she cyber bullied would get in the way of her R&R. Whomever organized this animal testing campaign must be trying to torture Anthony. Since it went viral, it has caused headache after headache for him and the train just seems to be gaining steam. Couple that with his ex-wife just really doing everything she can to make him miserable l, as though being a conniving heartless shrew wasn’t already enough, and he his just over it all. When he gets to his cabin in the woods for his peaceable working holiday the last thing he wanted to find was Thea. They couldn’t be more different if they tried. Fire and ice they find it impossible to not get under one enough’s skin. Soon they find that neither is who they appear at first glance, but when opposites attract there are bound to be resistance.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.

Taking a Chance on Love is the second book in The Youngers Series by Iris Morland. I've read lots of her books and really enjoy them. I loved her The Thorntons Series, but this book fell a bit flat for me compared to other books I have read from her. I liked Taking a Chance on Love, but it could have used a bit more work in my opinion.

I love a good enemies to lovers romance. My favorite part is the build up of the sexual tension, but there also has to be an emotional connection between the characters for the story to make sense. You need to see their connection develop on a deeper level and I feel like this was missing between Anthony and Thea in Taking a Chance on Love. There was lots of steam between them and I liked the steamy scenes, but I felt like that might have been the most interesting part of the story. Really wish I could have seen them connect on more than just a physical level.

I enjoyed reading Taking a Chance on Love, but it was not my favorite book by Iris Morland. I did not like Thea and Anthony as much. They had really complicated personalities that was hard to mesh. I was glad they got their happy-ever-after though. I'm looking forward to reading about the other members of the Younger family and can't wait for the next book to come out in September! I hope you give the Youngers and the Thorntons a chance and read their books. You won't regret it!

This is book two in the Younger Brothers series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed ‘Taking a Chance on Love’. I would characterize this as an enemies-to-lovers story, but for Anthony, it’s also a second-chance romance.

Thea is a spirited animal rights activist who hides her true love of art from others because of the comments from someone in her past. Anthony is a rigid CEO who many describe as heartless who was burned badly by his best friend and ex-wife. Thea was the brains behind a social media smear campaign that went viral against Anthony’s company because of their animal testing. She knows who he is, but he has no idea who she is, and when the two are inadvertently stuck together in a cabin for over a week due to a storm, Thea sees a new side of Anthony in the brief moments he lets his mask slip. Anthony is intrigued by and interested in Thea, but is determined to never let another woman close to him.

There is definite heat and chemistry between these two characters. I will admit, it was a bit hard to connect with, and fall in love with Anthony because he was so angry, mean, and crass. But, in the end, I did end up falling in love with him. Thea and Anthony connected in a way neither expected. Felt things neither expected. Hurt each other in a way neither intended. But in the end, love healed them in a way they both desperately needed.

I am looking forward to the next Younger story in this wonderful series.

Opposites attract...
Thea, an animal activist, a secretary in law firm needed a change of scenes. She did not enjoy where she worked so she decided to take a long vacation at the cabin away from everyone. When she arrives at the cabin, she finds another person occupying the cabin.. She didn’t know who the occupant was until she saw him under the light... Person she was trying to exploit of cruel animal testing in his company, Anthony Bertram...
Anthony needed a break from his company and his board members. Now social media campaign against his company is threatening his positions at his company. He needs to focus to prove to his board his company is thriving under scrutiny of this media campaign.
With snowstorm, they are stuck together and needs to figure out until they can get out. They learn about each other and falling for each other. Thea sees different side of Anthony she never thought he has and Anthony open up to her. Now she has to decide if she can continue her social campaign against him...
Nothing will come easy for both when they go back to their lives... But some of Anthony’s secrets were revealed and it will cause more problem for both...

I read the previous series and they are linked some way.You could read it as stand alone ( I didn’t read the first one) I would give 3 ⭐️ 1/2. It love felt bit rushed....

The hardest lesson to learn is forgiveness!

Thea is a wonderfully talented artist who is working a job that she just can't stand while secretly working on what she truly loves, her graphic novel. Thea is also an animal lover who is spearheading a campaign against the company owned by Anthony Bertram. Tired, and needing a break, Thea finally gets a cabin rental in the woods for a vacation. When she arrives, she finds a surprise in her cabin in the form of Anthony Bertram himself. Both seemingly victims of a reservation snafu and a flash flood, they are forced to stay in the cabin together. Neither one can leave because the flooding has taken out the bridge. Neither are happy about it, but what can you do? Craziness ensues, with bacon, bunnies, and an angry bag of quinoa. Thea starts to realize that maybe Anthony isn't the heartless man she thought he was. Anthony starts to let Thea behind his walls a little. Of course he doesn't know that Thea was behind the campaign to take him down. Will he ever be able to forgive her when he learns the truth? Will Thea ever believe in herself enough to do what she really loves. A great story about the power of forgiveness and also loving all the fur babies. Please give this a read. You will love it!

A romance where two people from opposite ends of the spectrum find themselves forced into close proximity with one another. Unfortunately, they are both keeping secrets from one another, and this is one of those situations where two wrongs do not make a right. So many times in life we do things in secret that come back to bite us, and the embarrassment when we realise that we did not have all the facts is often the main ingredient in nightmares. Anthony does not set out to impress, nor does he want to make an impression on Thea when he finds they have been double booked in a mountain cabin. Thea is horrified to realise that the man she considers public enemy number one is sharing her quarters with her. Although this story has a good plot with interesting characters, I found the continuous anger and arguments difficult to deal with, possibly because of my own baggage. I was, however, pleased that both parties found their true direction and were mature enough to make the necessary changes in their lives. I received a copy of this book for free through BookSprout as a gift, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

When Anthony and Thea wind up renting the same cabin they both want the other to leave. Even though they are attracted to each other, they push each other away. He had put up walls because his ex hurt him badly. She is pushing him away because she has a secret- she is the one responsible for the attack on his company.
When one thing after another happens that makes it impossible for either to leave, they slowly start learning that what they thought they knew about each other might not be all their is to know. When they finally admit their desire to each other, they both 'regret' it right away, for different reasons.
Once they are back home, they can't stay away from each other and even admit some truths that they don't share with anyone else. Unfortunately, just as things are going better than they expected, he finds out her secret.
Can Thea get him to understand why she didn't tell him sooner? Will Anthony let his walls down to give her a second chance? Will Anthony realize that he loves Thea before it is too late? How will he ever get her to give him another chance when he said some hurtful things to her?

Enjoyable

I read the first free book, which did not download fully, but enjoyed it enough to purchase this second book. An anumal rights activist meets the one man she despises most for testing products on animals. Trapped together through a double booking a log cabin in a winter wonderland, they despise each other, yet he saves her just before the crumbling bridge gives way completely and plunges into the river swollen by torrential rain. Her intent had been to save a rabbit in the middle of the river on a small piece of land. He rescues it to make her happy. I found his being able to cross the swollen river to be a bit unbelievable. He is the extremely arrogant CEO of his Company, but since he caught his ex-wife of only six months in his bed with his best friend, he has become very cynical about love. She is a different kind of woman. She is caring and sweet, but he doesn't know she almost ruined the Company he built up by exposing the cruel testing of products on animals. In addition she gives away his most private secret when drunk. Their mutual attraction is forged against this unlikely start.

Ms. Morland's, Taking A Chance On Love, is a sexy romp full of hot chemistry and a few misconceptions. This steamy romantic story is a real page-turner. Thea Younger is a vegan, discouraged artist working as an administrative assistant at a law firm, a job she truly dislikes.
Anthony Bertram is CEO of a cosmetics company. Thea is an animal activist and Anthony's company uses animals to test their products. She hates his company's policies and joins with a group of like-minded people to protest Anthony's company.

Needing a vacation Thea makes arrangements to stay at a mountain cabin. What she doesn't know is Anthony has also made the same arrangements. You can imagine their shock when they both discover that they are going be housemates for a couple of weeks. Can two adversaries find a common ground and learn to love each other or will an ugly betrayal ruin everything? This a novel is a real winner and a must read.

I received this ARC from the author and I agreed to write a fair and balanced review.

Thea and Anthony are like oil and water. Thea is opinionated a vegan whom will do almost anything to ruin a company particularly Anthony's that still tests on animals. Anthony is a tough one he built a company from nothing he is arrogant and doesn't believe in Love he thinks it only makes you weaker. He has his reasons. What happens when these two are stuck In a cabin together. Thea already knows whom he is, but Anthony has no idea that Thea and her best friends are the one behind the sabotaging of his company.

These two do get together but what happens whom Anthony finds out who Thea really is. Will he ever be able to forgive her betrayal. This story I did not really like the heroine only because she assumed things about someone she did not even know. She does have a right to her opinions but when someone sets out to destroy someone just because they don't practice the same beliefs. Anthony is just hurt he truly needs to see that not everyone is out to get him.
I give this story three stars.

I have to say that this romance book was a little different but it was still really really good. I have to say that Thea and Anthony had a more hate relationship in the beginning because they were both too stubborn to give in to what they really felt and wanted. Anthony had built such a solid wall around his heart and his life that he just refused to let anyone in. He felt that showed weakness and he honestly could not stand to be hurt again. When you hurt it really hurts. Thea was just so lonely and feeling like she was not worth anything at all. Her life was at a stand still she was not going forward or backwards just stuck in the same spot. She was so afraid to make a change. When they meet sparks fly but both will not let go of past hurts to let the other in. This book hooked me from the very first page. There was so much going on and I loved catching up with the other Youngers. I would highly recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received this arc from Honest Gems for an honest review!
This was a cute romance with the typical opposites attract premise but I found it a little too predictable for my liking. This book can be read as a standalone, however if I read the previous book in the series I may have enjoyed this one more.
Thea Younger is an administrative assistant who loathes her job and the way her male counterparts treat her. She is also an animal rights activist and is combatting an arrogant CEO named Anthony Bertram , who uses animals to test his products.
Anthony who has been hurt in the past by his ex wife and Thea , who just needs to get away, ultimately end up renting the same cabin to getaway in the secluded woods! What results is a neither party wanting to give in and leave the cabin but is there a fine love between love and hate?
This is a cute romance with some steamy scenes and a more to the story than appears

I’m having a great deal of trouble separating my reactions to the characters politics from my reactions to the story itself. I have to say that this story is extremely well written for me to have gotten so tangled up in the activism portion of the story. So tangled up, in fact, that I lost sight of the romance on several occasions. I loved the way this story ended, and I completely believe that all those explosive emotions can turn from hate into love. I’m just missing some connection in the story that fully takes my brain from the hate Thea and Anthony show, to the love. There’s a step there, or a progression of steps, that wasn’t fleshed out enough for me. I adored seeing the Younger clan in action again. And Phin’s already breaking my heart before we even get to his story.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.

This series has caught my attention. I loved the previous series that this was a spin off of. Its a standalone but it mixes up with previous books just enough to get glimpses of past books. Thea and Anthony are a weird match. I can’t see it. He’s from a company who tests on animals and she is protesting them. When they get stuck together they clash, but something else happens too. They each see different parts of themselves and each other. Can such passion for their lives move into passion for each other? Can they overcome such obstacles they hold dear? It took me awhile to get into the book but once i did it was good. Iris has always written books books I’ve loved this one was a bit hard to imagine for me though. I am so looking forward to the next brothers book, Phil. I love having series books. No worries no cliffhanger here. Enjoy!
