Ten years ago, Jared disappeared from my life. We were supposed to be best friends. We were supposed to tell each other everything. Then one day he was gone. Poof! Disappeared into thin air. Nobody knew where. Now he’s back and I know exactly where he’s been. He’s been building a business empire that’s made him stinkingly rich. But he’s not back because he wants to be friends again. He wants something else. Something specific. And I’m not going to give it to him.
Jared
Ten years made no difference to Elsie. She’s still as hot as ever. Same blue eyes, long legs and that irresistible body. I know we were supposed to be friends. But let’s be real. We weren’t just friends. She must have known. She would have seen the way I looked at her! Now that I’m back in her life, it’s time to pick up where we left off. Thing is, Elsie has other ideas. She’s determined to be my enemy.
This is a standalone novella of approximately 40,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhanger, and a wonderful HEA.
Suzanne Hart is a contemporary romance writer who loves the beach and super hot alpha males to populate it. As a hopeless romantic, Suzanne believes in happily ever afters and that's why all her books end with one.
For me, Elise’s and Jared’s story is the most emotionally encompassing story I’ve read in a long time. At one point, I was actually crying.
Elise and Jared lived next door to each other and couldn’t have come from more varying backgrounds; one fairly well grounded and the other extremely dysfunctional. Still they became best friends and were in love with each other. However, something happened before they expressed their feelings to each other and a decade passes before they meet again.
When the head recruiter informs Jared that he believes Elise is the right person for a position, Jared sets out to hire her himself. Understandably, Elise is as surprised when Jared shows up at her office as Jared was when the recruiter suggested her for the open position. Although they don’t have a great deal of time with each other, it’s enough time for them to act on their feelings even if they don’t express them. To say that Jared becomes aloof each time they’re intimate, is an understatement.
Ultimately, the act that separated them a decade earlier is made known and, for me, that is when the tears started flowing. Don’t take that the wrong way. This is a HEA story. My tears were just the result of my emotional connection to the story.

I read this book as part of an arc program. This was the story of childhood friends who reunited after ten years without contact. Elsie and Jared lived next door to one another and were friends throughout their teen years. Jared grew up in an abusive home and was the town bad boy, but Elsie saw through that and knew the real Jared. Jared always had plans to leave town and he loved Elsie, and she always thought she would go with him. Elsie loved Jared and when he left without a word, she was devastated. Ten years pass and Elsie still hasn't gotten over Jared leaving her and she now works with a non-profit working to bring drinking water to third world countries. Jared has mad himself into a billionaire and his businesses are growing. When Elsie is mentioned as a person for him to hire, he goes to see her. Jared is not surprised to see Elsie is angry at him, but he apologizes for leaving, but he can't tell her why. They have an attraction to one another and think if they give in they will get closure. Things keep getting more complicated for them and they fight about the past. I like this book, I liked their connection and chemistry. I thought Jared thought he was doing the right thing and I think Elsie wanted to get over him, but couldn't. Good one.
Bossing My Friend is the newest book in Suzanne Hart's writing. In this novel, 10 years have passed since Jared and Elsie have seen each other and under the circumstances, Elsie is not happy. She doesn't understand why Jared left their hometown a decade before and he won't explain. This results in anger, bitterness and resentment on Elsie's part. Jared would like to rekindle their friendship but can't get Elsie on board with that idea. Several meetings and events only add to the misunderstanding and distrust between them. Suzanne Hart has written a moving story with intriguing characters that are searching to find happiness, not necessarily with each other. There are some very poignant scenes where the characters are deeply saddened by choices made which I could relate to from my own youth. This book has steamy and fairly graphic sex scenes and uses some crude words for certain anatomical parts. This book has a lot of drama but no cheating and of course, there is an HEA ending. Overall, an enjoyable read. (I would have given 5 stars had the crude slang words not been used.) I received this book as an advanced reader's copy from Booksprout and voluntarily leave this review.
Poignant, second chance, former friends to enemies to lovers and HOT I wanted to dislike Jared b/c the way he left Elsie but as the story progressed I became suspicious of the reason WHY he did it and from that, I had grown to respect him. Elsie was Jared’s next-door neighbor, lived a good wholesome childhood whereas Jared lived with an abusive father and a promiscuous mother. Jared and Elsie shared so much as they grew up. She was Jared's encourager when he was having trouble at home, being the only one who could “talk him down” when he was enraged. One night when he was 20yo he left town in the dead of night, leaving Elsie who grieved his disappearance. Ten years later, Jared now the successful construction mogul needs an employee with very specific credentials. Oh My, guess who has those specific creds? Yep, Elsie! What follows is so up-and-down HOT and up-and-down angsty. Loved this story of second chances. It comes HIGHLY recommended! I was offered an ARC to review but decided to buy it instead. Glad I did. I can reread as often as I please…
Elsie and Jared have loved each other since they were children but life constantly kept throwing roadblocks up to keep them apart. The journey of there lives became the back drop to their struggle to each get past the roadblocks between them to find each other and celebrate their love. Both characters are a bit selfish in their fear and neither think they are good enough for the other, yet their hearts knew and helped guide them to their future.
The plot was well developed. The story well written. And, considering that the story is not an overly long one the characters are developed pretty well. I enjoyed the story very much, but must admit that a few times I wanted to reach into the pages and smack both Elsie and Jared for being stubborn and not fully communicating. Of course that is usual a sign of a good book.
I recommend you give this one a try.

Likeable characters that are well described. I like it is written in dual POV, which gives the reader both the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. That makes the story even more emotional and captivating. The twists and turns are unexpected.
Characters develop nicely through the story. Great chemistry and passion. A story about opening up and learning to accept what fate throws at you. Taking other people into your heart and show your feelings. Trust, love, family issues, romance and twists makes this story an enjoyable read.
This story has lot of lack of communication between the main characters. Elsie should have been asking Jared why he left earlier. Confronted him. Sometimes the characters annoyed me because of the lack of communication and that Elsie seemed a bit immature to me.
Jared and Elsie were childhood Best friends. They were inseparable. One day Elsie thought they would escape their town together. There is unrequited love both of them too scared to tell the other how they feel. But the night after her eighteenth birthday Jared disappears, no goodbyes....Ten years have passed and Jared is successful in business and he comes to his attention that the person that he wants to hire for a new project is Elsie. Elsie is working for a nonprofit building waters sources in other countries. She’s definitely not about the money. When Jared shows up she’s very angry. And Jared doesn’t explain the reasons why he left. He wants to be friends... This is a fantastic book. Lots of angst. The relationship between them breaks my heart. So many wasted years. A heartwarming HEA

Elsie and Jared were next-door neighbors and best friends. Jared has always been in love with Elsie. Jared leaves one day and breaks off all contact with Elsie and breaks her heart. 10 years later he offers her a job and she turns him down. She is still furious that he disappeared. Elsie has been in love with Jared since they were teenagers. However things are not looking good. Jared won’t tell her why he left and she can’t accept the fact that he won’t tell her why. They keep coming back to each other, but never resolve anything. Each one thinks that their love is one sided. A few twists and turns, and then everything starts to make sense. Thank goodness for meddling sisters. A beautiful story about how two teenagers keep their intense love for each other no matter what happens.
***SPOILER ALERT*** This was a great friends-to-lovers story. Actually more like a reunion story. I love that Jared and Elsie knew each other when they were younger. I just couldn't understand how they let 10 years go by without any contact. Or how Jared said he hadn't thought about her for years. You don't forget your first love that easily. There were a few cringe-worthy moments when they met up again; you know, those awkward moments between two adults who don't know how to communicate after years apart with only happy and bitter childhood memories. My heart broke for Elsie because she wanted answers that only one man could give but wasn't willing to provide them. All that matters is the end. It made me smile...HARD!!!
True love won’t be denied, no matter how they might try
Bossing My Friend by Suzanne Hart is an excellent and well written book. Her sweet and sexy heroine is just as angry and stubborn as her sexy alpha billionaire. Denial, stubbornness, pride and meddling seem to be recurring themes. I loved how this author took an element of antagonist and turned it into an action that brings the couple together in the end. This book is written from both Elsie and Jared’s perspectives and minimal secondary characters. It also has an excellent storyline that explores the past without overshadowing the present and giving the reader a very HEA.

First thing, I LOVE the cover for this book. Elsie and Jared lived next door to each other for most of their lives, but from the time she was thirteen and he was fifteen, they became best friends. She knew everything about him or so she thought. Then he just disappeared one day and that was the last she heard from him for ten years. Now that he is back in her life, trying to recruit her for a position on his construction team, she wants nothing to do with him. You will definitely want to pick this one up to see how things play out and what really caused him to leave the way he did. The twist in that was a big one.

This was an okay read, but I could see it being an irritating book if read at the wrong time. The main character, Elsie hasn't be right since her childhood best friend left town without a backward glance and without telling her. She was angry and stubborn. Jared has done well for himself and never thought he'd meet up with Elsie since he left town all those years ago. But now, he needs to confront his past, in the name of making money.
The main characters couldn't seem to break away once they were reconnected, even though it wasn't the welcome back that one would hope for. I didn't really connect with the characters and the book didn't suck me in. It was an entertaining read for a rainy day. This is an adult read with language and scenes. 2.5-3 stars
I am not always a big fan of second Chance romances as I feel once you mess up I don’t think you will be able to make it right. Having said that I did enjoy this book but was frustrated in some parts. Elsie and Jared are friends, neighbors since childhood. As they get older they both fall for each other but they never tell the other about their feelings. He leaves with out explanation and then ten years later he comes along to recite her for a job. I did find myself a bit frustrated with these two but a worth while read.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Elsie and Jared were best friend until he disappeared from her life without a word. Now 10 years later Jared arrives out of the blue and the attraction is still as explosive as it had always been. Elsie harbours a lot of anger and resentment against Jared, so she makes him work for her attention. Will Elsie and Jared have a second chance at love? This story is filled will drama, distrust, misunderstanding, steam, and is a sweet well written emotional rollercoaster ride. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all and cannot wait to read more from her!
This is a sweet, heartwarming second chance romance and I really enjoyed reading it. This book is about two people (Elsie & Jared) who loved each other but then the family got in the way. What you will find in this book is: a arrogant billionaire, a woman determined to be an enemy, drama, intrigue, twists & turns, anger, interference, pride, verbal conflict, regret, unplanned surprise, lack of communication, apologies, determination, lust, passion and love. The characters are well developed and react with emotional feelings to the situation they find themselves in. The story-line is well thought out and written. I would recommend this book.
First, in no moment has Jared bossed Elsie, so I find the title of this book very misleading. Second, although entertaining, this book lacked depth and in no moment I felt connected with either of the characters. Their fights were boring, the make ups even more. And I think what really threw me off was the fact that he admits from the beginning that he did not for a moment thought about her in the last ten years, while she was suffering and feeling abandoned, he was out there just working and not looking back. That's realistic until the point that Jared magically remembers that he loved her only after he discovers she is carrying their child. *rolling my eyes here, it was so predictable*

Elsie and Jared were best friends, shared all their troubles and triumphs, each wanted more but feared the other didn't feel the same, so they kept their true feelings to themselves. A gripping story about two people kept apart but eventually found their way back together. People make mistakes when keeping secrets from the people they love because secrets have a way of hurting more than they help. Elsie and Jared often made me want to shake some sense into them and yell, "Just tell the truth." I loved their story. I think you will too. Highly recommend to everyone.
Jared and Elsie are neighbours and friends when they are young. Their families are quite different - and Jared and his family is not well looked at. When he is twenty and she is eighteen, he leaves without a word. Ten years later they meet again..... This is my first book by Suzanne Hart. It was well written with good described characters. The story was sometimes very emotional and I could feel it in my body. I will look up other of this athours books.
This is a well written second chance romance between Elsie and Jared. They grew up together, loved each other up until the day he disappears. Fast forward ten years, they meet again. The chemistry is still there but can she forgive him for hurting her and can they make it work? It's an interesting read with strong characters and the story flows smoothly and quickly. The author brings drama, secrets and tons of emotion, making this a book well worth reading.
Emotional, erotic and lots of tears. Elise lived next door to Jared, who was the town's bad boy. They became friends through the rough life that Jared had at home. One day Jared disappeared and never looked back. After 10 years he comes back to offer Elise a job, but she wants answers as to why he left. Well written, could not put down, cried several times but so worth it.

Elsie and Jared were friends until he just disappeared. Now 10 years later he's back and wants to be more than friends. Elsie can't believe him after leaving the way he did. There is a lot of fighting and angry sex between these two. They are both afraid that they aren't good enough for the other. This is a quick second chance read. It is well written and I enjoyed it. I recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
A special friendship, abusive parents, a bad boy and so much more. Elise and Jared lived next door to each other and had plans to escape their small town. Jared left without a word to Elise, fast forward ten years later. Jared is a billionaire and Elise helps raise money for countries in need. These two make you a little frustrated at times but this is a good read.

Entretenido y absurdo a partes iguales. Que dos adultos, en esta época, se pongan a tener relaciones sexuales sin protección y que no se planteen siquiera que quizás no es buena idea... O tienes 15 años, o no cuela. Claro que, quizás, eso era lo que pretendía la autora, representar que esta pareja no actuaba como personas racionales cuando del otro se trataba, porque entonce lo clava por este y otros ejemplos.
Elsie and Jared shared their youth, young adulthood, distance, and reunion. Parents want what's best for their children, in most cases but they cannot see the future. It took 10 years for Elsie and Jared to have an open conversation. Read this story for the specifics of their journey.

Childhood friendship, failure to communicate and misunderstandings keep our couple at odds for many years. Suzanne Hart brings us a winner with well-developed characters and great chemistry between our couple. A good read that will not disappoint.
