Grace and company face enough rain and turmoil to swallow Shady Grove whole.
As spring rains cause the swamps to rise, Shady Grove and its citizens decide that it might be best to shut off the town from the rest of the human world. Grace Ann Bryant, the Queen of the Exiles, and Levi Rearden, her bard, unsuccessfully attempt to protect the town with a huge ward. They need the songbook that Jeremiah Freyman took into the Otherworld, but do they risk the unknown to retrieve the book from the Summer Realm.
During the midst of this crisis, Grace’s nemesis, Stephanie Davis, returns to Shady Grove despite being banished with a shocking announcement. Following her arrival, a flood of new problems including a traitor in the fairy council plague Grace’s life. How will Grace handle the nastier parts of her duties as queen? Can she make the tough decisions even if it means sending her servants into the Otherworld or executing a traitor? Will her father’s power drain her has it had once before?
Dylan, Levi, and Grace tread water while trying to keep the town from sinking in Gully Washer, Book 5 of The Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen.
Just a warning, Kimbra Swain’s fifth installment of the series ends with a cliffhanger. However, Moonshine in a Mason Jar, Book 6 of The Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen, will be released June 2nd. Then, on June 23rd, Hotter Than Blue Blazes, Book 7 will come out. Hold on for a crazy ride in this story arc for everyone’s favorite southern, sassy, exiled fairy queen, Grace Ann Bryant.
From early in life Kimbra Swain was indoctrinated in the ways of geekdom. Raised on Star Wars, Tolkien, Superheroes and Voltron, she found herself immersed in a world of imagination. She started writing in high school, and completed her English degree from the University of Alabama in 2003. Her writing is influenced by a gamut of authors including Jane Austen, J.R.R. Tolkien, L.M. Montgomery, Timothy Zahn, Kathy Reichs, Kevin Hearne and Jim Butcher. Born and raised in Alabama, Kimbra still lives there with her husband and 5 year old daughter. When she isn't reading or writing, she plays PC games, makes jewelry and builds cars.

This series has quickly risen among the ranks to possess a spot in the “favorite of all time” and “reread over and over” categories. What seems like a simple plot is definitely anything but! Kimbra Swain has truly outdone herself with every new addition to this awesome series! Just when i thought that we were rounding out- Grace was trying to be queen, get her family settled, protect the town, Kimbra made me realize we haven’t even scratched the surface. That the muddled waters of the bog just get deeper and deeper. I was shocked to realize there were things, gaps, events, timelines that I didn’t even know were missing! So many questions. Is he really dead? What now? What are we missing? What about the other world! I can’t wait to pick up the next book.
I am in so deep with it that the characters are completely real to me. I find myself thinking, "She's just going to have to kill Stephanie! That's all there is to it. No more Miss Nice Queen. It's time to bring it!" You know, like she's my friend, and I'm going to be giving her advice on how to handle things.
Either Kimbra Swain is a very good writer, or I'm losing the plot entirely! You need to read these to find out!
It just got real. Shady Grove prepares to protect itself from the possibility of war, but part of the plan fails. The regular humans have left. And Grace has to decide whether to live up to the duties befitting a Queen. All decisions have consequences, sometimes those consequences mean death. Can she handle the death of any under her aegis, whether enemy, friend, or other? A great read.
Fantastic continuation of a great series. Many revelations and some great developments. I don't even mind the cliffhanger. Looking forward to the next book!
While I enjoy the series, there are better books in the series. It's getting a little exhausting with all the drama and constant fighting. I may or may not continue the series.
Well it seems these books are starting to follow a pattern. Yet again Dylan is accused of being the father of a child and dies by the end of the book. Things with Levi are strained and it almost seemed that Winnie was forgotten in this book. The fight for the worlds is drawing near.

A whirlwind of a fast adventure. Pretty good read although, I don't understand why Grace has to be left in the dark for so many things, it just seems unnecessary. I think the author could have a different theme than that. Also I don't understand why we don't always know what fairy she is looking it. She will say she knows what it is but then she may or may not say what it is. I was a little confused by the extra chapters at the end, not sure if they were a prologue or part of the next chapter. Other than that a very good story
Grace accepts more of what it means to be a queen in this one, which is nice. I liked seeing her work through that. Levi decided to pitch a hissy fit, which was a bit annoying. The cliffhanger was pretty annoying. At the time of writing this book, I've also read the following one, which is actually technically a prequel, but necessary to read for the overall story. Anyway, this book gets an overall 4.5 stars for being really good in a lot of ways.
I devoured the series through the 10th book in just a week. Impatiently waiting for the next book due out in Feb '19. If you like all sorts of fairies, were wolves, demi_gods... set in modern day, you'll LOVE this series. Snarky comments included for free. She's a trailer park queen and proud of it. You can make her a queen, but her heart will always be in the trailer park. And what a big heart she has, don't let her tell you differently. Descriptive worlds and fleshed out characters. Love stories and battles. What more could you want. A new twist on the Seelie and Unseelie fairies. Once you start this series you're immediately hooked, but BEWARE, this series will rob you of sleep. Your mantra will be, "One more page, just one more chapter". I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. NEXT BOOK, PLEASE!
Another book, another cliffhanger! I'm still reading but I am running out of steam for this series. In the story arc there are two main strands, Shady Grove and the Otherworld. In theory, Grace is Queen of both - in reality she rules only Shady Grove, And, while the Otherworld more or less constantly undermines Shady Grove, the author opts to concentrate on Shady Grove almost without deviation. Kimbra Swain calls the series her 'ode to the South' - it is certainly that - but is craftily avoiding the larger issue - the battle for control of the Otherworld.
Gloriana must rule the Exiles while life keeps getting in the way. Old enemies and Dylan's old secrets threaten her harmony while current and all-too-real dangers threaten her well-being and that of those she loves. The complexities and nuances of this story begin to form a maelstrom surrounding what promised to be a fulfilling future and threaten to bring the queen to her knees just when she needs her strength the most.
I wasn't sure where this installment of the trailerverse was going at first. But as the plot unraveled I could not put this one down
With grand plans, new lands and epic scenes worthy of the big screen Gully Washer takes Grace and the crew on a adventure into Fae where we finally get some questions answered.
However this story is not for the faint of heart or people of sensitive dispositions! You are warned.....
I am a very avid reader and I have not been able to put these books down the story line is fantastic and they are all very will written I do not give 5 star ratings very often but these books deserve it I can't wait to finish them all thank you for writing such amazing books. And I love that its is a series with more then 4 or 5 books
Well, Stephanie is back with a child she claims is Dylan's. Grace finds she has another Uncle and is unsure whether or not he is friend or foe. Levi and Finley leave for the summer realm and Grace is left to manage everything without her trusted few. It is a huge mess.
I highly recommend this book and series. This one ends on a cliffhanger as does the next one (per the forward in this book) so I am off to hurriedly read those next two books.
I don't like cliffhanger endings. To be fair, the author was up-front about the fact. Also, since I'm binging the series, and the entire arc is issued, I cannot complain too much. I can, however, complain about the terrible things the author is doing to these people that she's written for us to care about!!
What an amazing book, suspense, magic, love and family of the heart. The Trailer Park Queen series, shows you how much we can love, how much we can have an intense dislike (my Mama said to never hate, because that emotion only hurt yourself) , how much we can hurt & how easily we can accept love. I am off to read the next installment of this series
I would have preferred this to not end on a cliffhanger but as earned up front, this is supposed to be the start of a trilogy cycle so I can't complain too much. Once again, this is more about the story of the Trailer Park Queen with a scattering of urban fantasy. Overall, another solid entity in the series.
These books are amazing..each character is unique and as you read you find yourself lost in there stories..do yourselves a favor and pick up book 1 and just read
Because this book leaves in a most horrible way! You have to wait till the next book for the rest of the story! I hate that! And be warned, it's a year jerker! I hated reading this one, but you can't miss it!!!
I don’t know if I’ll continue the series. I knew what was going to happen all along and from what I’m seeing one of the MCs won’t be making it through. Why make us fall in love with that relationship and have all the back and forth with Levi? It’s just too much and too predictable.
Can a book give you an anxiety attack? Because this one bit me so hard with all the ups and downs that my chest hurt. I laughed and cried until the end. My chest aches while taking the time to write a review instead of flying through the next book immediately.
I hate cliffhangers! Thankfully the next book is already released. A few new people show up in this one. I'm wondering if what I think happened really happened. I'm off to find out in the next book.
Love the genre - thought I'd take a look at this series. It was interesting - I liked the premise and could see the writing develop. I'm getting a sense of the characters, and I'm looking forwards to the next installment!
