Chris Clayman takes us on an exciting and faith-filled adventure into the amazing Superplan of God. From his home in Texas, Chris's journey into God's plan carries him from the academic halls of Cambridge, England to the parched lands of Bandogo, Mali before finally delivering him to New York City, where to his surprise, Chris discovers that God has delivered the ends of the earth to our own urban crossroads. A modern-day pilgrim's progress, Chris's story is the story of every disciple who surrenders his fate to the service of God. In New York's Bronx and Harlem, Chris meets remarkable men and women who inspire and shape his understanding of God's great salvation drama, a story that encompasses all the peoples of the earth. In New York, Chris co-founds Global Gates, a Christian ministry that seeks to reach the ends of the earth through engaging the world's least-reached people groups living in our own global gateway cities. Today, Global Gates is on the cutting edge of a new missiological breakthrough. Ministering the gospel to the world's least-reached peoples, Global Gates is the new frontier of Christian missions.Superplan is and inspirational and instructive story for Christians, missionaries, disciples, students, and everyone who suspects that God intended our lives with him to be extraordinary.
Chris Clayman is the executive director of Joshua Project, an initiative that provides a destination map for the Great Commission by highlighting peoples and places with the least access or response to the gospel so the Body of Christ can prioritize its prayer and missions efforts. He has been involved in pioneer mission work in West Africa and New York City among Muslim peoples, and he has initiated and helped develop numerous mobilization and outreach efforts focused on unreached peoples, including Global Gates, Heart for Muslims, Welcome Africans, and UPG North America. Chris is also the author of Superplan: a journey into God’s story and ethNYcity: The Nations, Tongues, and Faiths of Metropolitan New York. He lives with his wife Nichole and three children in New York City. Links to these initiatives and contact information can be found at linktr.ee/chrisclayman.
A great read and insight into Chris’s life/story. This book increased my faith into seeing God work in global cities. Shows the real hardships of saying yes to Jesus but the true joys of seeing the nations come into fellowship with Him!!!
This book brought a fabulous new term into my vocabulary- SUPERPLAN. ✨ This is a story of Chris Clayman's "journey into God's story" and we get a front row seat at how God used pain, closed doors, and seemingly impractical life decisions in His superplan. Finishing the book I'm left to decide, will I follow Jesus as far as is practical and lines up with my vision and gifts or will I go running into something bigger then me - God's superplan.
I loved reading this book. I know Chris and have heard his stories but it has been a few years. I was blessed in reading about God’s “Superplan” and know He has one for me as well.
This truly is a great book. I recommend it for every follower of Jesus. There are so many people who have no access to the gospel and that number is growing every day. If you want to be a part of reaching the world for Jesus Christ, this book is a great book to read. Hopefully it will motivate you get involved in the mission of Jesus, sharing the message of salvation with those who have not heard it, especially to those who right now have no access to this message.
Chris's book was very helpful to me. It is the kind of thing that usually only famous people try to write. That's why it's so good to me. I can find myself in his chronicles so much more easily. That, of course is the point. To hear how God is unfolding his own plan in your life. it's very good. Read.
Clayman’s driving point — a question of sorts — presents itself to the reader over and over: Will you be adamant about carrying out your own carefully crafted life plans (even if noble, mission-oriented ones) or will you allow your life to be caught up in God’s grand story — his Superplan?
He uses stories of his own life experience to show how he has learned to wrestle with this question through various (and sometimes quite difficult) life circumstances. As a Christian, I found the book quite convicting. I think it contains a great message for all believers — whether ambitious ones wanting to “do big things for God” or those oblivious to the amazing ways God is working through his spirit all over the world. Overall, well-written and encouraging. 4.5/5 stars.
This is an excellent well written book. It is a very interesting and encouraging story. Chris is honest in his sharing, both the hard things as well as the exciting things. It was great to hear how Global Gates was started. I am sorry I had this book on my to read shelf so long. I highly recommend it. It is a quick read, too.
A rich testimony of people going through difficult trials that don’t seem to make sense, but end up coming together for something much greater than they ever planned in the first place.
Superplan: a journey into God's story recounts the fascinating missionary experiences of Chris Clayman. Each chapter uses a biblical passage and a personal encounter to show how God has provided fresh guidance to join Him on the front lines of Christian mission among the least-reached people of the earth. Anyone who seeks to follow God's call to missions will be encouraged, and surprised, by this book.
