How to End the Autism Epidemic

Rate this book
In How to End the Autism Epidemic , Generation Rescue’s co-founder J.B. Handley offers a compelling, science-based explanation of what’s causing the autism epidemic, the lies that enable its perpetuation, and the steps we must take as parents and as a society in order to end it. While many parents have heard the rhetoric that vaccines are safe and effective and that the science is settled about the relationship between vaccines and autism, few realize that in the 1960s, American children received three vaccines compared to the thirty-eight they receive today. Or that when parents are told that the odds of an adverse reaction are “one in a million,” the odds are actually one in fifty. Or that in the 1980s, the rate of autism was one in ten thousand children. Today it’s one in thirty-six. Parents, educators, and social service professionals around the country are sounding an alarm that we are in the midst of a devastating public health crisis―one that corresponds in lockstep with an ever-growing vaccine schedule. Why do our public health officials refuse to investigate this properly―or even acknowledge it? In How to End the Autism Epidemic , Handley confronts and dismantles the most common lies about vaccines and autism. He then lays out, in detail, what the truth actually new published science links the aluminium adjuvant used in vaccines to immune activation events in the brains of infants, triggering autism; and there is a clear legal basis for the statement that vaccines cause autism, including previously undisclosed depositions of prominent autism scientists under oath. While Handley’s argument is unsparing, his position is ultimately moderate and we must continue to investigate the safety of vaccines, we must adopt a position of informed consent, and every individual vaccine must be considered on its own merits. This issue is far from settled. By refusing to engage with parents and other stakeholders in a meaningful way, our public health officials destroy the public trust and enable the suffering of countless children and families.

I read this book because a good friend was excited about it wanted my opinion, and because while I fully support vaccination I like to be educated on both sides of the issue. Full disclosure, I am a health care provider and a sister of someone on the Autism spectrum, so am no stranger to the topics discussed. That said, this book was an absolute garbage can full of dangerously incorrect information.

Even when it’s a subject I agree with, I am always wary when an author says anything along the lines of, “There is far too much complicated information on this subject for you to read for yourself, but don’t worry, I’ll explain it to you.” So, of course, I looked up every single article Handley referenced as I read along. Despite what he claims about doctors trying to hide information from you, all of them are easily available to the public via a simple Google search, and not one is accurately represented by the author. At best, he leaves out aspects of studies that are inconvenient to his argument. At worst, he lists incorrect statistics and states no changes to vaccine practice have been made when they have. This creates unnecessary fear in a reading population that is already wary and anxious about doing what is safest for their children, and it is appalling.

I could write a whole additional article about how autism is grossly misrepresented and how not one autistic person is cited in a volume entirely about them, but that would be giving this book more time and energy than it is worth, which I fear I have done already.

The one star is really for the referenced studies, which now that I’ve combed through I feel as though I can make and even stronger argument as to why correlation does not equal causation and that vaccines have not been proven to cause autism. The book itself deserves no such praise.

A total game-changer.

I wish I could clearly explain to you the range of emotions I experienced while reading this book...excitement, sadness, wonder, guilt, happiness, and yes, even intense anger. Having researched vaccines for 10 years, there was still so much information in this book of which I was unaware.

So many jaw-dropping revelations.

J.B. Handley delivers multiple well-researched, well-referenced blows to the tired, mainstream, pro-vax diatribe we hear day after day...and it's glorious.

Also included is the story of J.B.'s son, which gives readers a glimpse into the chaos and heartache vaccine injuries can cause families.

"The science is settled" regarding the vaccine/autism connection. Yea, I don't think so. There is zero chance an objective, rational person could read these pages and still believe that ridiculous mantra. Bottom line--please read How to End the Autism Epidemic with an open mind, truly absorb the impactful information within it's pages (particularly chapters 4-6), and, if possible, get this book into the hands of all your friends & family, every medical professional you know, and all your state & local politicians.

A MUST READ!

**I'd like to thank the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book, prior to it's release, in exchange for my honest review.**

There are no new lies about autism and vaccines found in this book

Copies of this book were sent out to several dozen autistic people before publication, as Advanced Reader Copies. The book has caused autistic people and their family members to start a petition begging the publisher to not publish it; in fact many autistic people have wished Handley to Hell because of this book--- a sure sign the book is evil, as the people Handly is pretending to advocate in defense and in support of have wished him in to Hell for excellent reasons.

Chapter One was where the writer claimed, falsely, that there is an "autism epidemic," even though there is no evidence at all to show any such thing. Autism rate among humans is about 1.2% for the general population, and about 1.9% for human males--- this ratio matches the other apes (Chimpanzees for example), not just human apes. Handley claimed the Centers for Disease Control's conclusions about there being no "autism epidemic" is a sinister lie. Hnadley cited the CDC as an authority on the subject, and then insisted the CDC is part of a global multi-generation conspiracy against humanity to make us all autistic. This behavior, I trust, will cause many readers to think Handley is not mentally composed.

Some readers will wonder why Handley wants many tens of millions of people to die in screaming agony. I will not venture a guess on the issue of "why."

In almost every chapter Handley used his "they are all out to get me" excuse to dismiss the facts and evidence showing there is no "autism epidemic," and that vaccines are both effective and safe. Handley supports none of his astonishing, extra-ordinary, and demonstrably false assertions even though he made many dozens of them.

Enraged conspiracy mongers who desperately need to be lied to will find this book a disappointment: there are no new lies, egregious or mild, found in this book. Anyone who needs to be lied to can go to several of many hundreds of web sites and be lied to with the same lies found in this book.

If you have ever been curious as to why the Vaccine & Autism theory just won't go away, reading this book is a must. Mr. Handley meticulously lays out several decades worth of disturbing evidence that vaccines can be harmful to a subset of genetically vulnerable children causing a terrible regression into the condition called autism. Chapter six is especially enlightening and devastating all at once as it details how duplicitous the government and mainstream medicine has been by covering up evidence that points to problems within the vaccine program.

Economic disclosure notice: I received this book to review from a pro-science pro-health anti-death charity for free; I was not given any remuneration for this review.

The book's first chapter started out with a bizarre "explanation" for why none of the world's medical experts have been able to find any evidence the supports Handley's paranoid alarmist hysteria; the first chapter also offered bizarre "explanations" for why all of the medical evidence shows Handley's claims are false. The book's claims then proceed, in the remaining chapters, to make even more false claims about what Handley falsely asserted is the "cause of autism," all of which are known by the world's experts in the subject to be false.

Some points found in the book that are demonstrably false:

1) The claim that the rate of autism has risen in the recent past and is continuing to rise. No experts anywhere in the world have discovered any such rise. The rate of autism has remained from 0.9% to 1.2% per demographic depending on air pollution extent and health care access per population.

2) The book claimed that autism rate has increased instead of the diagnostic prevalence rate; every medical expert in the subject has concluded the opposite. The freaky "graph" in Chapter One shows diagnostic swapping, not autism rates--- a fact noted on the medical care web site where Handley claimed to have received the numbers. Why did Handley deliberately conflate the two?

3) The book claimed that genetics does not explain the large (0.9% to 1.2%) autism rate among humanity, which is also of course false. The world's medical care experts have concluded that autism ranks #2 to #3 (depending on study) for heritable developmental disorders. Autism is from 83% to 90% heritable, chiefly passed from fathers to sons, and less frequently from fathers to daughters, and more infrequently from mothers to sons and daughters.

4) The book completely got the issue of "autism 'regression'" wrong, and the authors of at least on of the study whom Handley cited as the definitive source have stated Handley is wrong. Handley falsely claimed that developmental regression in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) occurs in infants and toddlers that show no signs of being autistic--- a fact not represented anywhere in the science literature and which is also known to be false. The data suggests that most children who demonstrate autism had demonstrated previous, subtle, developmental differences before being diagnosed as autistic. Handley could have spent a mere 15 seconds to check this, but he did not: why did he not?

5) Handley constantly linked autism to vaccines, though there has never been any such link either demonstrated nor even hinted anywhere in the medical literature; in fact, all of the evidence shows Handley's assertion is false. By actual count, there is a 0.000000834% chance of having an serious adverse effect to any vaccination; there is a 30% chance of dying before one's 30th birthday if humanity did not have vaccines. Handley would have us believe that sore arms and fainting at the sight of needles (the two most common vaccine injuries) is worse than suffering and dying.

6) Handley's book also claimed, falsely, that vaccines are linked to an increase in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome; the facts are the exact opposite--- SID among vaccinated babies is from 49% to 51% fewer than among non-vaccinated babies.

7) Handley was willing to admit that genetics "plays a part," while claiming epigenetics plays a vastly larger part in autism: that claim is also false. Epigenetics plays a minor role: (a) Air pollution; (b) age of father; (c) health of mother.

8) Handley insists throughout his book that autism is a disease: it is not--- it is a developmental disorder, present at birth. Evidence shows autism is almost always developed in the womb during pregnancy.

On a personal note, I am greatly saddened that this vile book exists; I wish I had not agreed to read it for review, as it has greatly decreased my hope that humanity would grow less evil as it matures. :-(

As parents our job is to be concerned about our children’s health. Yet every day in doctors’ offices around the country, American parents are told we are being ‘irresponsible’ or ‘selfish’ just for asking questions about vaccines. We all want to keep our children safe and healthy, both from infectious diseases and from overexposure to toxins. It’s reasonable to be concerned that there are too many vaccines on the schedule and that medications like antibiotics, acetaminophen, and ADHD drugs are being over-prescribed. What’s a worried parent to do? For starters, read this book! Sharing his personal story as the father of a boy with autism and taking a close look at the most recent and rigorous science, Stanford-educated J.B. Handley shows how the CDC’s aggressive childhood vaccine schedule is connected to the astonishing rise in autism in the United States. How to End the Autism Epidemic is a direct challenge to the American public health establishment and a gift to the millions of parents who find themselves caught in the crosshairs―uncertain of what to think or do―of the seemingly intractable debate about vaccines.

Vaccines don’t cause autism, the science is settled. We’ve all heard this- but a new book is causing doctors, scientists and parents to rethink this paradigm.

In one concise and powerhouse book, JB Handley delivers blow after blow to the false mainstream mantras surrounding the autism epidemic. Using undeniable scientific data, How to End the Autism Epidemic proves that autism hasn’t ‘always been here.’ Handley destroys the neuro-diversity argument with real facts about the difficulties and the realities of autism- from mortality rates to the high risk of sexual assault. Above all, it takes the reader through a scientific journey, showing exactly how vaccines can cause autism, and pointing out glaring inaccuracies in the claim that the ’science is settled’ regarding the vaccine autism connection. Explosive testimony from America’s leading pediatric neurologists back up these findings and shines a light on the gross mistreatment of vaccine injured children and their families in the US vaccine court system. Woven throughout this masterpiece is JB’s own personal story of his son’s vaccine injury, giving the reader a glimpse into a reality that so many families of vaccine injured children face today.

Bottom line- if you want to help end the autism epidemic across the world and in your own home, read this book.

This book is seriously a MUST READ. Chalk full of peer reviewed research in palatable form, parallel to the ridiculous politics, pressure and historial persistence of an industry that needs to put people and our precious children before profits once and for all. The perils and prevalence of vaccine injury are real and avoidable, with conditions like Autism that countless families have had to unnecessarily endure from environmental toxins being injected without prior genetic screening for vulnerabilities—including the author's own family with his son—just needs to stop before further collateral damage is done. Just like Big Tobacco hid and stamped out narratives that didn't align with their business objectives (and harnessed the influence of their large advertising budgets with media outlets to steer clear from any real reporting), so too have Big Pharma companies hid, squashed and obstructed true research and reporting with vaccines. The Supreme Court ruled that vaccines are “unavoidably unsafe” in 2016, 30 years after legislation was passed to protect vaccine manufacturers from being sued directly. No other industry benefits from this kind of protection, especially for a product that some try and would mandate for all without full informed consent, and yet the safety studies that were tasked to be done by Health and Human Services when the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act (42 U.S.C. §§ 300aa-1 to 300aa-34) was put into place have not been done on vaccines in over 30 years. However, in the meantime, nearly $4 BILLION has been awarded in settlements to families from the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, even for Autism. Enough is enough! Read this book to catch up on the most breaking science from around the world and what will be remembered as the largest scandal impacting Americans since the rise and fall of Big Tobacco. Read this book to join those who want the absolute truth to help protect our children, while ending the protection that Pharma plans on, lobbies around, and profits from, at the expense of our loved ones. Demand better policies and full disclosure once and for all, and let's follow J.B. Handley's lead and work to End the Autism Epidemic!

J. B. Handley is a brilliant, Stanford educated, father of an autistic child who feels without a doubt that vaccines caused his child's autism. His new book is a labor of love, and an impassioned plea for a desperately needed solution to the autism epidemic, which he feels is now finally within our grasp. While this is a nonfictional book, it reads like a thriller novel, as it reveals in colorful and accessible language the sorry state of our nation as we collectively blindly yield to ever increasing vaccine mandates while ignoring the parallel epidemic in autism that will eventually destroy this once great nation. While some chapters reveal the gross inadequacies of vaccine testing, the policies that protect the pharmaceutical industry from litigation, and the misdeads of the corrupted governmental agencies that are supposed to safeguard us from harm, other chapters recount in factual but easily comprehensible detail the mounting evidence from the scientific community that vaccines harm the brain in precisely the ways that have been found through multiple animal studies to induce autistic-like behavior. The last chapter discusses some of the nutritionally-based treatment protocols that have helped in improving the health of autistic kids, and, in rare cases, actually reversed the autism diagnosis. My only disappointment is in the fact that he left out any mention of glyphosate, the active ingredient in the pervasive herbicide, Roudndup, which has been found to be present as a contaminant in multiple vaccines, and which will, in my opinion, eventually be shown to be a major player alongside vaccines as a causal factor in the epidemic.

Yet another compendium of false antivax memes. For example:

1. Herd immunity doesn't exist (Fact check: Herd immunity is actually well-documented, as high rates of immunity in a population keep localized cases of disease from spreading).
2. "Vaccines Didn't Save Us" (this meme contends that large outbreaks of life-threatening disease were not eliminated by vaccines (whose introduction in every instance has led to huge drops in incidence of the corresponding diseases). Instead they claim diseases began vanishing because of factors like better sanitation and clean water (which do not figure into the spread of most vaccine-preventable diseases). Antivaxers would have us believe that the U.S. was a veritable Third World country with open sewers and lack of potable water until the 1960s, when measles incidence began dropping precipitously. Guess what - the fact that this happened directly after introduction of a measles vaccine was sheer coincidence!
3. Grossly exaggerates the number of vaccines children receive to highlight how immunization practices have changed over the years. Handley claims kids routinely get "38 vaccines". The actual number is a dozen. Handley and other antivaxers inflate the number by counting (often inaccurately) the number of doses. This is like telling someone with an infection, whose physician prescribed an antibiotic pill to be taken twice a day for two weeks, "Omigod! Your doctor is giving you 28 antibiotics!!!" The point of this obfuscation is to scare parents with an artificially high number. Receiving a dozen vaccines between infancy and age 18 is not excessive, and protects against serious diseases to which kids were highly vulnerable back in the 1960s.
4. Vaccine safety is horribly inadequate (Handley goes as far as to claim that vaccine trials don't use placebos (false) and that adverse reactions are only monitored for a few days (also false)).
5. Vaccines are enormously lucrative for drug companies and the medical experts who don't agree with antivaxers about alleged vaccine harms are on the take from Big Pharma. (Reality check: Drug companies could make far more money from antibiotics and other drugs to treat children with vaccine-preventable diseases (which would spread like wildfire without vaccines). And those medical experts antivaxers like Handley treat as bogeymen have children of their own, who they worry about and want the best for, which explains why the vast majority of physicians have their kids vaccinated according to the recommended pediatric schedule.
6. There's no genetic basis for autism. (Handley argues that because there isn't one single gene found to be the smoking gun in most or all autism cases (many different genes have been implicated), autism is not a genetically caused disorder! He denies the importance of genetics because that distracts from his anti-vaccine message).

Note: Handley is big on calling those who don't support his beliefs about vaccines and autism "deniers". The irony is extreme.

Handley gets meager credit for presenting something that isn't entirely old news. This involves depositions filed in a lawsuit in the case of a child, Yates Hazlehurst, which claims that he was vaccinated under improper circumstances and became autistic as a result. Much is made of the fact that two medical experts (Zimmermann and Kelley) testified at a deposition in support of the plaintiffs. What is brushed aside or ignored is that most other experts do not agree with the vaccines-cause-autism theory, that a enormous volume of well-conducted research refutes such a link, and that even Zimmerman and Kelley support vaccination to prevent a much more hazardous outcome - serious infectious disease. Kelley, who thinks some cases of regressive autism occur due to vaccination of those with mitochondrial disorders has said that "it is much better" to immunize kids with mitochondrial defects using the DTaP vaccine, than to risk serious injury from severe inflammation caused by full-blown pertussis infection.

And that's Handley's "bombshell" revelation - a deposition by two people holding minority views about autism causation, in connection with an unsettled lawsuit, which even if it was decided for the plaintiff would not establish that vaccination causes autism. Contrary to Handley's belief, courts don't determine science, scientists do.

Finally, Handley rolls out a twelve-point proposal to "end the autism epidemic". It's a mishmash of unscientific and illogical suggestions, including some intended to harass or eliminate oversight by key agencies and organizations protecting children's health (such as the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics). One proposal is to drastically reduce the number of vaccines given to children (from 13 to 4) because...well, because Handley mistakenly thinks they're unnecessary or toxic. This idea would again expose millions of children to dangerous preventable diseases. Apparently J.B. thinks he'll be viewed as a moderate for leaving a handful of vaccines on the schedule, but since he previously spends much of the book assuring us how unnecessary and toxic vaccines are, it's doubtful many parents buying into his arguments would want their kids to be vaccinated for anything. Handley also wants to eliminate giving vaccines to children who are sick or are on antibiotics, claiming that the CDC "discourages" this practice on its website. Leaving aside why Handley would believe anything the CDC says, seeing that he views it as the Great Satan, the CDC in reality says that children with mild illnesses can and should get vaccines on schedule, and that receiving antibiotics is not a problem either (an exception would be kids receiving Tamiflu to treat influenza). So Handley gets that one wrong too.

Every few years, it seems, antivaxers come up with some earth-shattering news or faux scandal that's supposed to rocket their views into public acceptance. Handley's book has been breathlessly termed a "game-changer" by the antivaccine movement. Sadly, it's just more of the same antivax games.

We owe it to autistic children, those at risk of developing autism in the future, and all kids at risk from dangerous vaccine-preventable diseases to not give in to anti-vaccine fearmongering.

Good online sources for information about vaccination include immunize.org and the section on vaccines at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia website. To hear from parents whose lives have been affected by pediatric infectious diseases, check out pkids.org and voicesforvaccines.com.

There is no way any objective person can read through these pages and state "the science is settled" on the connection between vaccines and autism.

First, JB unravels the lies about vaccines and autism, then hits you with the truth about vaccines and autism. He includes testimony from two very well respected autism experts, who now believe that in a certain subset of children, vaccines can cause a host of symptoms that we call "autism". These are not fringe lunatics, these are experts in their field. This alone should make everyone take a step back and reexamine what we have been told for years and years - that vaccines are safe and effective, and adverse reactions are extremely rare. This is simply not true.

This is absolutely a MUST READ for everyone! Even those in the staunchly pro vaccine camp will have a hard time coming to terms with the words on these pages.

Where does one even begin to review a book like this? It's so important, and yet, it may not be read by the very people who need to read it the most, the people who have the power to change the course of millions of children's lives around the world.

How to End the Autism Epidemic does no less than provide a plausible mechanism for the cause of autism (backed up by study after study, all meticulously referenced and noted; it says something about the research that went into this book when the notes section at the end constitutes a full 18% of the length). Do scientists know what causes autism? Yes, they do. The pieces started falling into place back in 2004, and since then the foundations for that explanation have only grown more solid and been built upon by others replicating the work. Does the CDC know what causes autism? Maybe they do, because they've spent decades denying, obfuscating, and trying to steer the conversation in a different direction, delaying help for millions of children who are suffering.

Something happened back in 1986 that changed the course of children's health in the developed world. It happened in the US, but because of their role as a leader in the world, many other countries have followed their example. In 1986, vaccine makers suddenly no longer had to be liable for any damage their products caused, thanks to an act signed by Ronald Reagan (rather begrudgingly, by the sounds of it). After that, the vaccine schedule exploded, going from 10 vaccines by age 5 in 1983 to 38 vaccines by age 5 in 2017. The potential toxicity (synergistic and cumulative) was never tested. Instead, the CDC relied (and continues to rely) on a handful of studies looking at one vaccine in isolation (MMR) and one vaccine ingredient (thimerosal) to conclude that all vaccines are safe and do not cause autism. However, as Handley clearly lays out in fine detail, those things—especially taken alone—may not be causing the problem at all.

So what is the problem? Immune activation. This leads to the brain being in a permanent state of inflammation. And what causes this immune activation? Well, an illness such as the flu can do it (which is why you may have heard about the increased risk of schizophrenia or autism in children born to mothers who had the flu while pregnant). But a huge source of immune activation—one that a vast majority of children will experience—is vaccines, and specifically the aluminum adjuvants within many of them. That's just how vaccines work: they're designed to activate the immune system. Unfortunately, this activation, if it takes place at just the wrong moment, can have disastrous consequences on brain development.

Handley states that in order to end the epidemic, it's important to know what caused it. He's done a great job of laying that out in great detail. He's also shown the corruption, the lies, and the "tobacco science" that's permeated the discussion about vaccines for far too long. The deposition of Dr. Stanley Plotkin in Chapter 4 was especially revealing... and chilling, considering his ideas have helped shape the vaccine program in the US. A vaccine patent holder, he already comes with conflicts of interest. But it's his admissions to using orphans, babies of prisoners, children in developing countries, and those with mental disabilities for experimental vaccine testing that might make one wonder if they're staring at pure evil:

"The question is whether we are to have experiments performed on fully functioning adults and on children who are potentially contributors to society or to perform initial studies in children and adults who are human in form but not in social potential."

In other words, he knows that testing vaccines is a dangerous business. He doesn't want to damage healthy people, but those he considers expendable ("human in form but not in social potential") are fair game.

Handley also takes on Silberman and the neurodiversity movement, and attacks the idea that autism (in its current, devastating form) has "always been here". He has the numbers to prove it hasn't.

While he does offer his own story about his family's journey with regressive autism, he manages to stay remarkably objective throughout the book. It would be difficult to find fault with most of it, since so much is based on studies, depositions, and legal proceedings. Facts are facts, and most of the ones explored in this book are going to be pretty difficult to explain away.

This could be the book that finally turns the tide of the autism epidemic. But it's not just autism, either. Today's younger generations are sicker than they've ever been. We've traded acute diseases for chronic ones, and potentially damaged the futures of millions with our zeal to eliminate all disease, no matter how mild. With vaccine makers free from liability, they have no incentive to make safe vaccines, and free reign to continue adding vaccines to an already bloated schedule. What's next? A vaccine for the common cold? (After they convince us that children are dying from the sniffles by the thousands, of course.) It's important to note that this is not an "anti-vaccine" book; in fact, Handley lays out ideas for a way to take us back to a time when the autism rates were more like 1 in 3000 (rather than 1 in 36, as they are today)... and it doesn't involve doing away with vaccines altogether. Instead, his focus is on eliminating those vaccines that have limited benefit (many of which aren't even given in other developed countries), identifying children who might react badly to vaccines, administering vaccines later to avoid those delicate periods of brain development when the most damage might occur, and testing for titres rather than giving booster shots (because if you already have immunity, you certainly don't need another vaccine dose). It's a common-sense approach that will probably go too far for some people, and not far enough for others. But if the CDC wants to keep any sort of public confidence in vaccines, they would do well to heed this sort of advice. (Unfortunately, with so many conflicts of interest and billions of dollars at stake, that may be too much to hope for.)

This is one of the most important—and most fascinating—books I've read in recent years. Read it with an open mind, and let the facts lead you to the truth. This is a highly charged, polarizing subject... but one that everyone needs to know about, given the still-climbing rates of autism and the effect that's going to have on all of us in the future.

Thank you… thank you… thank you! Handley’s son is a little younger than mine, and among the many emotions I felt as I read this engaging book is guilt in not having kept up the pace I had many years ago when my son was first diagnosed. Thankfully, Handley and others have, and they have come a long way in figuring out what is causing the autism crisis. If you have not been touched (or more like punched) by autism in your family, you more than likely will unless something is done. The rate has gone from 1 in 10,000 in the 1970’s to 1 in 36 children today. Among many topics, Handley describes why this increase is not due to increased awareness or relaxation of diagnostic criteria.

Literally the same propaganda machine that used to cast doubt on the link between smoking and cancer is now working feverishly to hide the link between vaccines and autism. Not only has ‘science’ been hijacked by the Big Pharma with its incredibly deep pockets, but the US government is complicit as you will see in the shenanigans it used in denying thousands of children justice when they had their day in ‘vaccine court’.

This is the book that many of us autism parents wish we had taken the time, energy, and commitment to write. This is a must read book for anyone who cares about the future of this country because if left unabated, the rising rate of autism will continue to demand more and more of our resources, not to mention the emotional toll in takes on so many of us.

The lies in this anti-science book have been debunked for over 20 years; there is no legitimate excuse for the author to keep spewing these lies.

Autism is not caused by any vaccine. Autism is the third most common hereditary disorder, passed down generations chiefly along the male side of a family.

Nor has the rate of autism increased any time in the past 100+ years; the rate of diagnosis of autism has increased, while other diagnoses of disorders have decreased--- the rate of autism has not increased.

There are no studies that support the lies in this book, and there are many scores of studies that refute and debunk them.

The correct question is, why is Handley lying to us?

Its insulting and full of misinformation. There is a multitude of respected literature that proves the safety of vaccines and that there is no link to Autism. This author is hurting children. Doctors don't get compensated by "the big vaccines company" because there is no big compensation. Doctors and scientists have reviewed this issue repeatedly and there is no link to vaccines and autism. There are so many good people that are doctors and to say that they are allowing kids to get autism is irresponsible.

This is the most important book for this critical moment in time. Every parent, doctor, elected official, public health offical-- everyone must read it. Autism in the 1970's was 1 in 10,000. Now, it's estimated to be about 1 in 38 and still rising. More than half of those with autism are non-verbal and/or low functioning, with health and emotional and developmental issues. A new study shows that only 14% of young adults with autism are able to hold down a job. Something has gone terribly wrong with the health of our children--who are our future.

This book gives undeniable evidence -- from rigorous peer-reviewed studies, sworn testimonies, legal depositions, and shocking data -- that while there are many environmental assaults harming the immunological and neurological development of children today, the most comprehensive and universal exposure is to one category. Vaccines. Which are DESIGNED to alter the immune system. In the past decade, it has been learned that autism is related to immune activation at critical stages of neurological development. Not everyone exposed to vaccines develops autism--just like not everyone who smokes gets cancer--there is genetic and current-health-status susceptibility. JB Handley's book reveals the truth about autism, gives hope for healing, and is a call for vaccine policy and industry reform. The opioid crisis is nothing compared to this -- same players -- far more victims.

This book is disgusting. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge about either vaccines or ASD should know that this is all fearmongering b.s. It’s the same false arguments over and over again, and to top it all off, it’s a slap in the face to any autistic person who might happen upon it. I’m not going to bother outlining why autism isn’t caused by vaccines— five minutes of googling will get the job done for you there. But really, honestly, if, and that is a humongous IF, vaccines were to cause autism, then would you really rather your kid have polio than be autistic? If you answered anything other than no to that, you are absolutely disgusting, and I mean that with 100% sincerity.

I had the opportunity to read this pre-release. Short summary: Wow!

As a parent of two children with autism, I have been in this fight for over 16 years. I have read a number of books on the topic, and an endless amount of articles and research papers related to autism. I felt I had a good understanding of the rabbit hole we've gone down, but this book has explosive new information not seen before.

If you work in the medical industry, please read this book. Understand that your industry has been influenced and corrupted by outside agencies. The result is multiple generations of sick children, compounding harm being done day after day, all in the name of "prevention".

Everything in this book of note is fact, not opinion. If you read it and choose not to accept the facts, you are doing a disservice to yourself and all children.

Read this, then act. Share it with others, share it with your child's physician, share it with other parents, other grandparents, all loved ones. This information must be widely known and understood.

We are selling the health of our children to an industry that has no compelling interest in their health, and no legal liability for any wrongdoing. They have been immune since 1986, and have taken full advantage of that fact. Government watchdogs haven't submitted safety reports as required by law every two years since the inception of the immunity for the manufactures. That's 30+ years of no one watching, and 30+ years of harm.

It's time to reconcile what we've done, end the harm going forward, and start to pick up the pieces of 1 in 36 children with autism. Read this book. Act now to end the epidemic.

If you search for "Autism" on Amazon or Audible, this is by far the most popular book with the most ratings.
AND it's the highest rated with the best reviews (4.9 stars).

Everyone who is involved with this, who gave it 5 stars, should feel bad about this for the rest of their lives, and the author should suffer from life-long depression.
I can't describe how maddening but also just how sad this is. It's like searching for "feminism" and the highest rated and most popular book is by Harvey Weinstein. (Which, as I understand, was roughly how our society treated women for hundreds of years. Also this is a very bad comparison. But in these horrible book times I do feel strongly sympathetic to groups which have been discriminated against in a similar way.) (Also cue other terrible analogies about how when you search for good books about Judaism, Amazon's top rated book is Mein Kampf.)
This book has much fewer positive ratings on Goodreads, Temple Grandin's books have roughly an order of magnitude more good reviews (inverted relationship to the Amazon world), which is why I like it here.

WOW!!! I speak from two standpoints. As a mom of twins with SEVERE Autism but also a student in the Public Health field and passionate about environmental health and safety, this book is JAW-DROPPING! ALL PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS MUST READ THIS BOOK!

This book contains NEW and VITAL information that covers every nook and cranny there is to discuss regarding the vaccines and Autism connection. What we did not know previously in this debate, we now know and cannot deny that VACCINES CAUSE AUTISM.

As public health officials, we must understand that this is typically how the truth presents itself. According to 19th century German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer, “All truth passes through three stages: First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident." We need to understand that it typically takes 20+ years for the research to show what we've known all along...

As public health officials, we know this to be true from history with the fight against the tobacco industry, the fight against DDT poisoning and Rachel Carson's controversial book "Silent Spring", the more recent fight for clean water in the Flint, Michigan lead water crisis, the fight for justice for children in Tom's River developing childhood cancer due to pollution from dumping chemicals into the water, and so on...

As public health officials, we understand corruption can exist in large corporations and in government when it comes to scientific experiments and other atrocities, such as in the Tuskegee study, Nazi human experiments, surgical experiments on slaves, Guatemala syphilis study, Flint Michigan lead water crisis, and so on...

As public health officials, we know that we must honor beneficence, nonmaleficence, autonomy, and justice...

As public health officials, we NEED to read this book and understand that the science was NEVER settled on vaccines and Autism and that the science is now there that proves vaccines can and do cause Autism.

As a mom of twins with Autism, I desperately beg for each one of you to read this book and see for yourself. Jb Handley lays out the information and the science behind the truth about the Autism epidemic so delicately and accurately that this book can be read by anyone and easily be understood. This book needs to be read by every single person who cares for a child because our children are sick, they are suffering, and they need our help.

God bless Jb for selflessly dedicating his time and research to gift us with this information so that we may know better and do better to help our future generations of children.

How to End the Autism Epidemic eviscerates pharmaceutical company and mainstream media propaganda that trumpets vaccine safety. It exposes how these industries that engage in the systematic character assassination of anyone who questions vaccine safety are engaged in power plays that are destroying the health of American children. With impeccable references to cutting edge science and historical and contemporary legal precedents, Handley demonstrates beyond a reasonable doubt the enormous extent to which vaccines play a role in the epidemic of encephalopathy colloquially known as autism.

I recommend this book to anyone with an interest in autism, autoimmunity, law, media, or politics. The book’s themes cut broadly across all these arenas, and the devastating outcomes of these intersections are both eye-opening and terrifying.

JB Handley's book is a masterpiece of scientific proportion. This book will open your eyes to the world of the greedy pharmaceutical companies and the lack of study that is currently not being done with vaccines. He asks the tough questions and has clearly done his research on the link between vaccines and autism. As a mother of a child who died after having 9 vaccines at one visit, he reminds us that not all children can handle vaccines. Certain tests need to be looked at before a child is ever vaccinated, to begin with. Vaccines need to be given the same amount of study (if not longer) than the few weeks that are only deemed necessary at this time. The CDC schedule as it stands needs to be reexamined so we can help stop the epidemic that is currently taking place.

10/5 stars. Amazing, articulate, thoroughly researched book which will light a fire in society if people will take the time to read it with an open mind.
The book has three sections: Lies about Vaccines, Truth about Vaccines, and Ending the Epidemic.

In the first section he basically addresses all the issues that vaccine advocates raise: "The science is settled" (when really very few studies have been done; for autism specifically only 1 of 13 vaccines children receive and 1 of 38 vaccine ingredients have ever been studied), "What about the polio vaccine" (polio was on the decrease before the introduction of the vaccine and is actually correlated with the banning of DDT), "There is no autism epidemic" (numbers have risen from less than 1 in 10,000 in the 1970s to 1 in 36 today, which cannot be solely explained by better detection or better studies), "The reward is never financial" (Sure, some scientists may develop vaccines out of philanthropic motives, but when they're receiving multiple millions for doing so, when pharmaceutical companies are the second biggest purchaser of advertising in the US and vaccine liability was removed in the 1980s because pharmaceutical companies were dealing with so many lawsuits that vaccines were no longer profitable, is it actually realistic to say money has no part to play in this discussion??).

The second section deals with actual studies that have been emerging definitively linking aluminum adjuvants with autism specifically and vaccines with autism (and other adverse reactions) generally. Now we not only know that vaccines can trigger autism, but we have the science and the data from multiple, highly credible sources (well-known scientists, even a Nobel laureate, publishing research at respected facilities) demonstrating exactly how vaccines could trigger autism or auto immune disorders. He also discusses the vaccine court in detail, explaining how the government has spent millions compensating families, including for vaccine-caused autism (so much for "the science is settled" that vaccines do not cause autism). In case you were thinking it's easy to get a vaccine settlement, he explains all the hoops families have to jump through in order to see a court and discusses the lack of due process (for instance, no jury in vaccine court) and how families spend even ten years trying to get compensation. He then tackles a 2008 omnibus case in which over 5,000 families suing for autism were ruled against based on outdated evidence (and through eliminating as a witness a previously-pro vax scientist and autism expert, Dr. Zimmerman, who reversed his opinion after doing further research).

Finally, in the third section of the book he goes on to talk about how children with autism have improved and actually recovered entirely from autism through specific protocols such as diet and aluminum detoxing. This was hugely exciting to me — and heartbreaking that because this healing links autism to aluminum, it hasn't been discussed in mainstream media. So many children who suffer from pain, brain inflammation, gut problems, and every other struggle associated with autism could benefit from this knowledge.

Please, if you have children or know children, if you consider yourself a pro-vaxxer or ex-vaxxer, read this book! The research speaks for itself.

In his new page turner, How to End the Autism Epidemic, the brilliant and big-hearted writer-activist, J. B. Handley, takes us on a gripping journey across the historical landscape of vaccine science and policy. Our vaccine program took off like wildfire after 1986 when President Reagan signed The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act that relieved pharmaceutical companies of any liability for harm done to children by vaccines. Before the NCVIA, Pharmaceutical companies had been faced with so many vaccine injury cases that they could not afford to stay in business and pay all the damages that were piling up. The Autism rate was 1 in 2,500 in 1986, up from 1 in 10,000 in 1970. Now, 30 years after the NCVIA, the rate of autism is 1 in 38. What happened? Even more curiously, what is still happening? Mr. Handley’s book lays it all out in exquisite detail: the history, the science, the policy, the legalities, and the tragic impact on our children. With an astonishing collection of primary source material, Mr. Handley opens many secret doors to conversations and testimony that we were never supposed to hear. Then, just when you think we are all sunk, he catches us up on the groundbreaking science in the field of autism from the last decade--science that opens up a new road of hope for putting an end to this epidemic.

In the title of his new book, How to End the Autism Epidemic, JB Handley makes three bold presuppositions: 1) that there IS an autism epidemic 2) that the epidemic should end and 3) if he knows how to end it, he knows how it BEGAN.

In the face of the staggering and increasing numbers of children diagnosed with autism, it’s difficult to understand how anyone can deny there is an epidemic and yet, the autism community is divided on this. The agencies who have been charged with finding the cause of autism have instead turned to embracing this growth as a new normal. Instead of an unrelenting search for the cause, scientists have fostered a tunnel-vision like tenacity on genetics, while support groups promote “acceptance.”

Presenting solid and often times damning evidence that the pharmaceutical industry, the CDC, and top scientist in the field of vaccinology have acted with little regard for the safety of patients while safeguarding the vaccine program like true zealots, Handley finally and definitively shows that the autism epidemic is real, that children are being (intentionally) harmed and that he knows both the cause of autism AND how to end it.

Be prepared to be angry.

Be prepared to heal, too. If the cause is known, a pathway to healing is possible.

Be encouraged, friends. The end is in sight.

The description of the discussion of vaccines and autism as being thermonuclear by JB Handley is spot on! It's one of the most polarizing subjects out there.

As I read through the introduction of this book I identified with so many similarities between our case and that of the Handley's. Reading through the book I nodded my head at the information I'd already learned on my nearly 12-year journey of having a child on the autism spectrum. It seems as if there's always something new to learn -- similar to peeling back the layers of an onion.

Through his presentation of studies, depositions and data, JB Handley lays out the facts in this compelling book. I urge you to read it and learn for yourself. I hope you'll be fuming after you read about Dr. Plotkin, like I was; my blood boiled at the deceit particularly when it came to the fact that Plotkin saw no correlation between him recommending products and the fact that the pharmaceutical companies making those products paid him.

It's possible after reading this book, you might just change your mind to everything you've ever heard about the subject. At the very least you'll come away with more knowledge than you ever thought possible by purchasing and reading this book.

"The autism rate was roughly 1 in 10,000 in the 1970s, based on thorough, large-scale studies in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and nationally. When my son was diagnosed in 2004, the rate was 1 in 150. Today, it's 1 in 36. A cottage industry has developed trying to explain away an epidemic. Books like NeuroTribes propagate myths that 'autism has always been with us.'"

This book is incredible. Hopefully, it starts a wave of direly needed independent research on vaccines and the vaccine industry. We truly live in a sort of technological Dark Age, where science is distorted for the profit of some very evil people.
