Back to the island of misfits. Take two. Well, not an island, rather a building that is manned by those that the regular police have deemed troublesome. A police division like no other, will actually get two new throwaways during this story. One, just released from a mental ward, believes he is or was, one of the three musketeers. Let me not forget to mention the police dog, and police rat. Sentenced to work on only cold cases, their fearless leader, Capistan, is surprised to be given a new murder. This murder will hit close to home.
Love this series, these characters who though misfits are so loyal to each other. Such a jumble of intriguing, comedic incidences, as they each blunder their way around the road blocks constantly blocking their paths. They work hard, and they play hard. If you like the books featuring Dept. Q. I think you will love this series too. The pages fly by accompanied by many chuckles.

حسناً...الرواية بعنوان " فرقة تحقيقات باريس " ، حيث تلتقي بفريق شرطة بقيادة " آن كابستان " وهو الفريق المُهمش والمُهمل من قِبل أفراد الشرطة ، ستفرض الظروف مشاركتهم فرق البحث والتدخل والشرطة الجنائية في التحقيق في مقتل المفتش " سيرج روفوس " ، وإذ بك سرعان ما تلتقي بمشهد مقتل أحدهم مشابهاً لمقتل المفتش ، ويبدأ الفريق بتقصي كل المعلومات المُمكنة من أجل الوصول إلى خيط مشترك بينهما ، ولكن هذا ليس كل شيء ، بانتظارك جريمة قتل ثالثة تدفعك للشك بأنك أمام قاتل سادي ليس نمطياً ويبدو إنه يقتل بدافع الإنتقام الذي طال انتظاره....

هنا الفريق الذي يبدو غريب الأطوار من رؤية القيادة العامة للشرطة ، يتمتع بروح تتسم بالإصرار والشجاعة ، لا تبالي بالإهانات التي تتلقاها من هنا وهناك ، روح الفريق تفضل العمل بمفردها لتثبت جدارتها وإستحقاقها للكفاءة والتقدير...
الجميل هنا بأن المشاعر لم تنحى جانباً ، تلتقي بتيارات الحزن ، نيران الغضب ، برودة اللامبالاة ، صوت الابتسامات...لا تندهش فلها صوت غير قابل للتوصيف ، وتعقيدات الحب غير المفهومة....

Stick Together is the second book in the Awkward Squad/Anne Capestan series by French author, Sophie Hénaff. It is translated from French by Sam Gordon. Their last case having lost them any friends they might have had is the Police Judiciaire of Paris, Anne Capestan and her team are wary of the new case that Directeur Buron is handing them. The mere fact that they will be working with Crim and BRI (Antigang Squad) pretty well ensures they won’t get a chance at any relevant information.
But Buron decides that Capestan has to be involved because the victim is her ex-father-in-law, Serge Rufus, a BRI legend, recently retired. Despite promised cooperation, it’s soon clear that the remit of their liaison with BRI, one Lt Basile Diament of the Verappe Division, is to block them from anything considered pertinent. The team needs to think laterally.
At the same time, they have a new recruit: Henri Saint-Lô is newly discharged from the psych ward but continues to believe that he existed formerly in the seventeenth Century as a King’s Musketeer, and is not enjoying being trapped in a century full of sneering unbelievers. Although Capestan’s squad have made him more welcome than any other…
But while Crim and BRI are focussing on potential gangland paybacks or score settling, Anne’s team have already linked this execution-style murder through certain common features to another, days earlier, in Provence. This entails a swift trip to attend a funeral, and Orsini uses his press contacts to learn more about the victim. But it’s Rosière’s quick thinking that garners a real clue.
When there’s a third murder in Lyon, cooperation from that city’s police provides the most solid lead to the murderer, but also presents Capestan with a dilemma that tests her trust in her team. And gives her the unenviable task of revealing to her ex-husband that his father might not have been as clean as all that. Renewed face-to-face contact brings the unwelcome confirmation that the attraction is still strong.
Anne’s squad of black sheep (aka the official dregs squad) are well used to everything that is issued to them being broken, worn out or substandard, so they either make do or get creative, and Dax’s improvisation for a lack of e-fit software is truly inspired. The banter between the team members is always entertaining and often clever and laugh-out-loud funny, especially the send-up of Diament.
This instalment provides some of Anne Capestan’s backstory, as well as filling out the rest of the team, and offering some delightful vignettes of their individual Christmas Eves. There’s a foot-chase, a string of ponies comes into play, a tibia is fractured, Rosière hires, much to Lewitz’s delight, a Porsche for covert surveillance, Merlot adopts a rat with the intention of training it for police work, and Torrez reveals a decidedly unexpected talent.
This novel can’t really stand alone, but why would a reader deny themselves the pleasure of the reading The Awkward Squad? Unlike Mick Herron’s tendency to knock off Slough House xxxs, Hénaff concludes this instalment with two new team members, a trip to Hawaii and a delicious hint at something that will have readers eager for the third book. And a fervent wish that Sam Gordon translates it into English soon). Very enjoyable French crime fiction.

Al igual que en la primera novela de esta serie, La brigada de Anne de Capestan, la autora derrocha humor y humanidad a partes iguales en este policial lleno de personajes poco convencionales - por decirlo suavemente.
Me ha resultado muy entretenida y la trama está bastante bien, aunque un poco previsible. Sophie Hénaff profundiza en cada uno de los componentes de la brigada y creo que exagera un poco el toque de humor, pero el conjunto funciona. Diferente.

Una muy buena continuación de la serie de Anne Capestan. Con intriga y humor, los componentes de la brigada se ven envueltos en el asesinato del suegro de Anne, así como en la investigación de una serie de “muertes anunciadas” para lo que tienen que desplazarse fuera de París.
Los personajes que forman el equipo de Anne se ven envueltos en nuevas situaciones surrealistas para tratar de resolver sus casos, además, en esta historia, tienen que competir con los compañeros de brigadas mucho más preparadas que ellos.

Anne Capestan and her squad of merry misfits are back for their second case.Previously, the squad had solved a case that exposed a high ranking police officer, making them unpopular pariahs among their peers.Morale is beginning to sag and new cases are not presenting themselves. Suddenly, the squad is brought into a new current case,the murder of Commissaire Serge Rufus. He is the father of Anne’s ex-husband. Soon it appears that his murder is linked to two other murders and the team rouses itself into action.Of course, the higher ups can not trust Anne’s misfits to totally handle the case and they are forced to coordinate with other police entities, setting off a storm of bureaucratic infighting and one upmanship.
This book is a delightful follow up to the first entry in the series,” The Awkward Squad”.We get reacquainted with the team members we have met previously and are introduced to some new additions. One new recruit believes that he is one of the Three Musketeers, D’Artagnan . Me lo he pasado genial con la brigada. Me lo fumé en 1 día. A pesar de que este tiene situaciones más surrealistas que el primer libro no tiene desperdicio. Entre una persecución en pony y una rata participando de una reyerta me lo pasé bien. Nuevos miembros a la brigada y otra perspectiva de la vida personal de cada uno de ellos. La química entre el equipo y la comisaria Capestan muy bien lograda. Se me hizo corto. Si hubiese publicado ya un tercer libro lo leería de inmediato.

Segundo libro protagonizado por la comisaria Anne Capestan y su brigada de apestados. En la línea del primero, esta novela policíaca está narrada con un estilo humorístico, llegando al absurdo, con situaciones tan surrealistas como una persecución a lomos de un pony.
Tenemos nuevos elementos en la brigada, de los que destacan un policía convencido de que es un mosquetero de la época de Richelieu y una nueva especie de policía, una rata, que viene a acompañar al auxiliar de policía, Pilú, el perro.
En este caso, investigan varios asesinatos cometidos por una misma persona, por causas que parecen venir de un pasado que afecta directamente a la vida personal de la brigada. Y por si fuera poco, si antes tenían poca ayuda de los estamentos oficiales, ahora son los parias, los apestados, debido al desenlace del primer libro.
En resumen, el libro me ha gustado tanto o más que el primero. Mezcla la investigación con el humor surrealista y logra que lo leas con una sonrisa.

Divertida y entretenida novela policíaca con toques de humor, con protagonistas un poco esperpénticos, pero con mucho encanto. Es el segundo libro de una serie, en la que nos volvemos a encontrar con la brigada de 'pringados' de la policía parisina, deshechados de sus sitios habituales, comandados por Anne Capestan, la única un poco normal. Tenemos a un crack informático, pero con lapsus de memoria debido al boxeo; una capitán de policía, que se ha hecho rica y famosa por escribir novelas policíacas basadas en sus compañeros, que siempre esta acompañada de su perro y se dedica a "amueblar" la comisaria con muebles clásicos, cuadros, sofás de cuero e incluso, una mesa de billar, y que para vigilancia, alquila Porsches; un "gafe" al que nadie quiere en su unidad por traer mala suerte y que en su tiempo libre se dedica a entrenar planchando ropa para ganar el prestigioso premio 'La plancha de oro',... y algún que otro elemento más.
A pesar de su idiosincrasia, resuelven casos que otras brigadas no pueden, sobre todo gracias a que Anne sabe extraer de cada uno de sus subordinados sus cualidades más importantes.
Muy recomendable para aligerar las neuronas.

On retrouve nos détectives excentriques, leurs méthodes non-conformistes, leurs traits d'humour et d'esprit à démêler des nœuds improbables. Ne vous y trompez pas, la lecture n'est pas seulement insolite ou superficielle, c'est certes un rendez-vous plein de fraîcheur, d'humour et de plaisir, mais l'histoire ne manque ni de cohérence ni de consistance. Cette série ne cesse de me réjouir, à quand la suite ?

Stick Together by Sophie Henaff, is the brilliant follow up to The Awkward Squad, which introduced us to the chaff of the French police service, transplanted into one investigation unit full of misfits, overseen by the eminently more sensible, though formerly trigger happy, Commissaire Anne Capestan. I love this collection of disparate souls, from there first outing solving cold cases, and now thrust into the limelight of a particularly baffling murder investigation. Fast, furious and funny.

On retrouve Anne Capestan et sa bande de bras cassés dans une enquête plus intime, mais toujours saupoudrée de scènes loufoques et cocasses !
Encore une fois, l'intrigue tient la route, et l'écriture de Sophie Henaff déborde d'enthousiasme !

Tras varios galardones recibidos por su primer libro “La Brigada de Anne Capestan”, nos adentramos en su segunda entrega: una nueva historia policíaca del singular cuerpo, que se ha incrementado con un nuevo miembro que vive en la era de los mosqueteros. También adoptarán a una nueva mascota que no será del agrado de todos sus integrantes.
A medida que se va desarrollando la investigación, la autora irá insertando capítulos en los que nos transportará a los inicios de la carrera de la comisaria. También dará voz a todos los excéntricos personajes de la brigada, desgranando sus vidas personsales y profundizando un poco más en cada uno de ellos.
Es una novela con un ritmo ágil y con un humor sutil, que suaviza los momentos más dramáticos de la investigación. Un libro que te hará pasar un buen rato. Esperemos que publiquen pronto el resto de la serie en español.

L'enquête est intéressante et complexe car lie les enquêteurs, les victimes et les coupables entre eux. Il faut démêler les faits pour trouver le sens de l'affaire.
On retrouve une nouvelle fois une enquête menée sous pression et les personnalités atypiques des "Poulets grillés" qui rendent ce livre haletant.
L'enquête est intéressante et complexe car lie les enquêteurs, les victimes et les coupables entre eux. Il faut démêler les faits pour trouver le sens de l'affaire.

The crew of misfits gains a new member in a cop who believes he’s D’Artagnan from the 1500’s who has time traveled to the present day. Yep….that’s the kind of officers Capestan’s boss supplies her with.
Also the case is personal to Capestan & some of her team this time.
I like the characters and their chemistry with each other. Looking at them on their own, they’re definitely misfits but grouping their individual peculiarities, they become a strong force to solve crimes.
While there are a lot of characters to keep track of, the story moves along quickly.
A twist towards the end. And who knew ironing was a competitive sport?
I enjoy reading books from foreign writers so I’m glad these books are being translated into English. I look forward to reading more.

3.5 stars. This is the second of the Awkward Squad books. The team gains a couple more members here, and the others are still around with their quirks. There is more information about Capestan, including her ex-husband Paul, and his father, who is one of the victims of the crimes the squad is investigating.

Al igual que en la primera novela de la saga me ha gustado la idea, el buen ambiente entre los personajes y lo originales que son. Y también al igual que en la primera novela me ha sorprendido el final por inesperado y porque contrasta con la positividad del libro.

Die Ermittler-Einheit von Kommissarin Anne Capestan ist wieder da. Sie hat sich um einen neuen schrägen Vogel bereichert, einen Polizisten, der sich für D’Artagnan, den Helden des Romans Die drei Musketiere von Alexandre Dumas hält. Und wieder wird der Truppe der Ausrangierten ein besonders pikanter Fall übertragen: Ein Mord auf offener Straße, das Opfer war ein hohes Tier bei der Polizei –und Anne Capestans Ex-Schwiegervater. Das bringt Anne gleich mehrfach in Schwierigkeiten. Denn wie soll sie es ihrem Exmann beibringen, wenn sie eigentlich nie mehr mit ihm sprechen will? Und das ist nur der Auftakt einer Mordserie …. Wieder löst die Truppe auf unkonventionelle Weise die verzwickten Fälle, und es offenbaren sich private und behördliche Verstrickungen, deren Aufdeckung der neuen Führungsriege von 36, Quai des Orfèvres äußerst unangenehm sind …(Klappentext)

Dies ist der 2. Teil der Kommando-Abstellgleis-Reihe und dieser schließt nahezu an den ersten Teil an.
Nach einem kurzen Auffrischen bezüglich der Charaktere, um sich in der Reihe wieder zurechtzufinden, geht es mit den Ermittlungen auch schon los.
Diesmal handelt es sich für Anne Capestan um einen sehr persönlichen Fall. Das Opfer ist nämlich niemand geringeres als ihr Schwiegervater, der auch gleichzeitig ein hohes Tier bei der Polizei ist und einer ihrer Ausbilder war. Obwohl ihre Brigade vom Polizeichef höchstpersönlich zu dem Fall hinzugezogen wurde, werden ihnen von den anderen "normalen" Ermittlern Steine in den Weg gelegt. Seit ihrem letzten Fall werden die Mitglieder der Brigarde Abstellgleis nämlich unter den Polizisten und Kripobeamten als Kollegenschweine angesehen. Doch dies stachelt die Truppe erst so richtig an und sie bedienen sich dabei so mancher unkonventioneller, äußerst schrägen und teil nicht ganz legalen Mitteln, um in dem Fall voranzukommen. Zu verlieren haben sie ja sowieso nichts. Und dann geschieht ein nahezu identischer Mord in der Provence und die Brigarde Abstellgleis hat durch diese Information bei den Ermittlungen auf einmal die Nase vorne.
Durch diese persönliche Komponente des Falls, erhält man diesmal auch Einblicke in Annes Vergangenheit und erfährt wieso ihr diese noch immer zu schaffen macht.
Aber auch der private Alltag der anderen Mitglieder der Brigade wird beschrieben - immer nur kurz und zwischendurch. Dadurch sind diese Einblicke keineswegs aufdringlich und unterbrechen somit auch nicht den Lesefluß. Im Gegenteil - ich fand es interessant und es bringt einem nach und nach die Protagonisten näher.
Der Schreibstil ist, wie schon im ersten Teil, flüssig und packend. Daher liest sich dieser französische Krimi relativ locker-flockig weg. Diesmal werden aber auch teils ruhigere, ja regelrecht poetische Töne angeschlagen.
"Am liebsten wäre er direkt zum Januar übergegangen, ins neue Jahr gekrochen wie ein Schiffbrüchiger am Strand, der sich die ersten Meter des Festlands hochschleppt..." (S. 53)
Doch auch die Situationskomik und der Humor kommen hier nicht zu kurz. Im Gegensatz zu so mancher französischer humoristischen Literatur jedoch keineswegs übertrieben und immer noch im Bereich des Möglichen.
"In Ordnung, wird notiert", erwiderte Dax und notierte tatsächlich "alle Hackingspuren beseitigen" auf ein Post-It, das er an den Rahmen seines Bildschirms klebte. So was würde einen tollen Eindruck hinterlassen, wenn eins der hohen Tiere ihnen irgendwann einen Besuch abstattete..." (S. 65)
Der Neuzugang der Brigade, Capitaine Henri Saint-Lô, trägt dazu natürlich auch bei. Dieser wurde gerade frisch aus der Psychiatrie entlassen. Der Aufenthalt in dieser scheint jedoch nichts gebracht zu haben. Noch immer ist er der festen Überzeugung er sei ein zeitreisendes Musketier und zwar kein geringeres als D'Artagnon. Dieser neu hinzugekommene Charakter passt mehr als nur gut zu den bereits vorhandenen skurrilen und schrulligen Ermittlern.
Die Spannung ist hier präsenter als im ersten Teil und daher muss man einfach immerzu weiterlesen, bis man endlich weiß wer der Täter ist. Das Ende hält diesbezüglich auch eine große Überraschung bereit.
Einziges Manko, bzw. Tipp an alle die sich dieses Buch zulegen wollen und, wie ich, immer den inneren Klappentext lesen: Verzichtet bitte dieses Mal unbedingt darauf. Dieser enthält nämlich eindeutig zu viele Informationen die einem so manche Überraschung und Komik verderben.
Abgesehen davon konnte mich auch wieder die tolle Aufmachung des Buches begeistern.
Fazit:
Hat mir schon der 1. Teil der Kommando-Abstellgleis-Reihe gefallen, so konnte mich dieser Teil noch mehr begeistern. Dieser ist spannender und rasanter, inklusive privater Einblicke der jeweiligen Charaktere der Brigade.
Um diesen Krimi jedoch vollends genießen und auskosten zu können, empfehle ich zuvor den 1. Teil "Kommando Abstellgleis" zu lesen. Von mir gibt es jedenfalls eine absolute Leseempfehlung.

Una gran continuación para la brigada de policía más pintoresca, sagaz y a priori, un tanto cómica. No obstante, aunque repudiados de sus brigadas, los policías de ese piso de Les Innocents, son todo menos inocentes y "palurdos", que es como les ven las demás brigadas. El piso, decorado y amueblado a todo lujo, mesa de billar incluida, con Pilú (o Piloto) y Ratafia como mascotas del cuerpo policial, se encuentran con 3 asesinatos (relacionados) que deben resolver.
La prosa te mantiene en vilo hasta la última letra, aunque puedas imaginar quién ha sido, quién ha hecho, la autora siempre da una vuelta, que los lectores agradecemos. Hénaff sigue con ese toque de novela negra con humor negro,. situaciones disparatadas, personajes disparatados... Pero no es una novela de humor al uso. Hay momentos para el drama etc.
Esperando con ansias el tercer libro.
La prosa te mantiene en vilo hasta la última letra, aunque puedas imaginar quién ha sido, quién ha hecho, la autora siempre da una vuelta, que los lectores agradecemos. I just realized that this one is missing on my Goodreads. I did listen to the audio and enjoyed it very much. It was lovely to meet the misfits from book one again, and seeing them evolve and even include some new members. The one that joins late in the book was a fav character of mine, I hope to see more of him in the next book. Anne and her crew continue to have a hard time of it, as they work under less than ideal circumstances. But it also gives them a kind of freedom and a chance to be better humans than the more official branches of the police.

Darum geht's:
Die Truppe der Pariser Ermittler auf dem Abstellgleis bekommt Verstärkung. D’Artagnan stößt direkt aus dem 17. Jahrhundert ... oder nein, besser gesagt kommt Capitaine Saint-Lo direkt aus der Psychiatrie zu ihnen und fügt sich perfekt in die Brigade ein. Der Auftrag, den Mord an einem hohen Polizeibeamten zu untersuchen, erweist sich in mehrerer Hinsicht als schwierig. Und doch nimmt das Revier der schrägen Vögel diese Ermittlung ernst und stürzt sich engagiert auf diese Aufgabe.
Meine Meinung dazu gibt’s hier

Un vrai plaisir de retrouver les membres haut en couleur de la brigade des « poulets grillés » du 36 !
Un polar léger, une enquête sans prise de tête, et surtout des personnages savoureux qui donnent toute sa saveur à cette série.
On ressort de notre lecture avec l’envie de replonger dans l’univers de Sophie Hénaff.
Un vrai plaisir de retrouver les membres haut en couleur de la brigade des « poulets grillés » du 36 !
