Fandom: Once Upon a Time (TV) Relationship: Evil Queen | Regina Mills/Emma Swan -------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between friendship and something more - something Regina knew nothing of. It was not as if she had many friends; truly Emma was the only one. And all she was certain of was that she cared for the stablehand; a deep feeling that pulled hard at her chest. That was what friendship was, wasn’t it? To care for someone so fiercely.

This story doesn't require the reader to have prior knowledge of the series, it is a narrative completely apart from the show. I had already read this narrative a long time ago, it is one of my favorites. In this story we are introduced to the characters of Regina, who is a young princess (although the story does not reveal the age, I think she should be no more than 18 years old) and Emma who is a stablehand. I imagine that story must revolve in medieval years, based on the clothes and customs described. Emma and Regina, right from the start, are exploring the physical side of their curiosities (or rather, Regina is exploring this since she is the more innocent of the two). And throughout the process Regina finds herself in love with Emma, who in turn has been nurturing these feelings for some time. The problem is ... Regina's mother has plans for her and uses magic to terrorize not only her daughter, but other people too. Emma is an orphan, as well as being very poor, which is a major obstacle to any plans for the two to be together. Regina ends up marrying a prince and changing kingdom, soon she is separated from Emma. The story deals with topics such as child and family abuse and marital rape. The story is not always dark, it has very explicit and exciting moments as well as action scenes. Reading Regina and Emma falling in love and being in love with each other is incredibly cute. There is a sequel to this story that has much deeper development and action. But it is still being constructed by the author. This is a great read for one who is willing to read something medieval with a touch of magic, anguish and plenty of eroticism.
