From the co-creator of "Yuri!!! on Ice" comes a dramatic, funny time-traveling high school story about what it means to cheer on a friend! What would you do if you had the chance to do everything... Again?
Back to the Past
Having seen Usami's lonely fate after the collapse of the ouendan , Kinichiro returns to the past again, more determined than ever. He flat-out tells Usami about his time traveling, and the two hatch their plan to change destiny. But when their newfound closeness is misunderstood, it sets off a gossip bomb that threatens to destroy everything. Has all of Kinichiro's time traveling been for naught?
Mitsurou Kubo (久保 ミツロウ, Kubo Mitsurō) is a Japanese manga artist, writer, and radio personality born in Sasebo in 1975. She is known for writing on Yuri!!! on Ice, an anime series co-created with Sayo Yamamoto. Two of her manga have been released in English; Moteki by Vertical and Again!! by Kodansha USA. She and Mineko Nomachi have a radio program called Mitsurou Kubo and Mineko Nomachi's All Night Nippon.
An exceedingly slow entry in the series as everyone just stews in their angst and rehashes their status quo for over half the book as they prepare for the first official performance of the ouendan (a high school pep squad). The performance itself is super awkward as it begins and more than a bit puzzling as it progresses, and we're asked to wait to the next volume to see how it is received.
So, not a strong outing, but I'm still eager to keep following this title.
I’ve been buddy reading this with a friend and my brother and they both really enjoyed this one. When I read it, I got let down.
This felt like a filler. There’s a fairly important event taking place for most of the volume that I suspect is one of the critical plot points. The pacing of the story really slowed down enough so I felt bored. I read through it, hoping that SOMETHING will happen but apparently not yet.
Love the art still. I hope the next volume will make up for this one!
The secret is out. After traveling back to his own time, Kinichiro needs help from his former classmates to get back where he belongs. In the meantime, the ouendan is in trouble - they need Kinichiro to wake up so they can continue.
So far this is probably my favorite book in the series. Incredibly intense, everything starts coming together and I can't wait to see where we go next.
It's intriguing to see where this will go from here. The end was quite the show and the time travel aspect of it is getting more and more interesting. I'm excited to see the next few volumes and how Imamura is going to keep this going.
I'm just tired of the same-ish story going on, the first three volumes were great but now the story is at a complete standstill. 50 chapters in and we still haven't had a stupid baseball match!
A bit of an iffy choice to tell someone about time traveling and the future but it worked out well. I'm glad that they're finally working together and winning over the crowd.
The wacky adventures of the Ouendan continue. It's the days leading up to the big practice game and our heroes are furiously trying to figure out a new way of cheering that will draw the crowd in with them. Not to mention dealing with the hospital kisses, Imamura's return from the future, and a gossip bomb that is engulfing the school.
Bring on volume 6 and the start of the actual game!
An ok addition to an ok series. I enjoyed that it mostly stuck to one storyline/day and was easier to follow than the rest. I really wish this series didn’t follow Ouendon as I’m not a fan of sports manga and love the plot, but it’s not completely boring... the characters are ok as well. This is a messy review I’m sorry ok bye
