“I’m lucky in having found the perfect partner to spend my life with.” –Sara Paretsky

First, let me just say… that is the best cover. OMG! Simply beautiful does not even come close. I love it. This clean, short story is part of the ‘Timeless Romance for the Busy Reader’ series of books by Christie Capps.

We have a small window of time where Darcy and Richard are visiting Kent during Easter. Of course, Elizabeth is visiting M/M Collins at the parsonage along with Maria Lucas. We are following canon until Elizabeth is in the Rosings library and pulls at a book on the bookshelf. The bookcase suddenly turns and Elizabeth finds herself trapped in a hidden passage behind the bookshelf wall.

Lady Catherine is unconcerned when it becomes evident that Elizabeth has gone missing. Darcy is in a panic and sets the servants off searching the house and grounds. In a last-ditch effort to find her… he goes to the last place she was known to be and suddenly realizes that something is different about the bookshelf. In short order, Darcy finds himself behind the bookshelf and in a hidden passage with Elizabeth.

The story now is focused on our dear couple. I am always pleased when D&E have page time together. This imposed imprisonment allows them to clear the air between them. She expresses her hurt and anger with him and he clears up her misunderstanding and sets straight Wickham’s lies. I liked how our author did not take the usual route to clearing their misunderstanding. Most JAFF fans can quote Darcy’s canon speech about Wickham. This was completely different and was very refreshing. It was so creative how they worked out their differences. Darcy was simply swoon worthy as he explained what was in his heart. OMG! I loved this story. Well done… well done.

Fear is a darkroom where negatives develop. ~ Usman B. Asif

What’s a girl to do when she discovers a man’s deepest fear?

Elizabeth disappears at Rosings (reminiscent of “Young Frankenstein”). Our hero must discover her whereabouts and together they must work to escape. As a side venture, the couple must move toward understanding and even … love.

A cat bitten once by a snake dreads even rope. ~ Arab Proverb

But if Darcy’s phobia is uncovered, can Elizabeth’s fear remain secret?

“Lost and Found” is a sweet and clean little romance with a shortcut to a HEA.

This is a very short story so I have no earthy explanation on how it took me 2 months to read it. In this short P&P what if first Lizzy and then Mr. Darcy gets trapped in a hidden corridor in the Rosings library. Their time together makes them reveal secrets, clear up misunderstands and learn to appreciate one another.

this short, clean read is just fun and realistic

This gem of a novella accelerates the HEA for Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet by locking them inside a secret passageway at Rosings. This occurs before Darcy has had a chance to offer his ill-phrased marriage proposal.

The passage is so secret that no living resident knows it's there. Elizabeth, left alone in the Rosings library, mysteriously disappears. Lady Catherine is certain her guest rudely has left Rosings without taking leave of her hostess, and she refuses to have her servants search beyond the obvious areas she might have gone.

Darcy is frantic and continues looking on his own, convinced there must be a trap door somewhere. (Colonel Fitzwilliam is off overseeing repairs of some tenants' roofs.) It doesn't take long for Darcy to trigger the hidden entry, which locks closed behind him. When he explores the passage, he becomes trapped in a smaller area along with Elizabeth. They're stuck in a cramped, pitch black space that appears to be inside the wardrobe of one of Rosings unused bedrooms.

The situation exposes Darcy's deepest, most irrational fear to the lady he admires. Recognizing and responding to his fear sympathetically, Elizabeth starts to see the "human" side of Darcy.

Their predicament is way outside the bounds of polite drawing room conversation. As a result, their dialogue is more direct and honest. Interestingly, it's a story Darcy shares about his childhood that exposes Wickham's malicious character rather than anything about the denied living or Georgiana. Elizabeth learns he has a sense of humor. Darcy finds she doesn't deplore him for his weakness. The two have a heated argument when each admits to an injustice committed against the other, but the situation prevents either from storming off in a huff. It's an obvious compromise demanding that they marry, but Darcy dreads the thought that she might be a reluctant bride.

This is a dialogue-driven story that's executed masterfully. There's problem-solving (oh, dear! Both had too much tea before they got locked in!), there's teasing, there are exchanges of personal philosophies, there are real concerns that they might not be released in time, there are admissions of prior and current feelings. The reader is SO ready for it when they finally kiss!

I just loved everything about this. Highly recommend!

I have to say that I also loved this book...short and totally satisfying. As others, and the story description, tell us Elizabeth goes missing when Lady Catherine sends her out of the parlor to the library. Rosings is searched...nothing! Darcy goes back to the library to begin over and notices something which might be a clue. But this leads to two, not one, people being trapped where no one realizes that there is a place in which to be trapped!

The author does not spare our eyes in writing for us even the bodily consequences of two bodies sealed in a small space and the fact that all humans are imperfect is further proven. Imagine... darkness...slithery creatures...too much tea and discussions of topics assumed to be true.

This short story for busy readers condenses the time it takes for our couple to come to know each other much better and to unravel previous false opinions.

You know, you do have to read this. What's your excuse...not enough time...not good enough. Its short, its sweet and it does have a happy ending.

Finding Understanding and Happiness Where You Least Expect It

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Oh dear! Poor Elizabeth has gotten herself into quite a situation while attending tea at Rosings! She has gone missing in the library! Mr. Darcy, who has just discovered that his fascination with this impertinent and lively miss is because he has already lost his heart to her, is greatly alarmed by Elizabeth’s disappearance and sets out find her. Only thing is, he botches the rescue and finds himself trapped in the same predicament she is in! What happens when Darcy and Elizabeth are trapped together for an extended period of time???

This story is an excellent blend of humor, honesty, and heartfelt moments that display tenderness and understanding. I loved this diverting premise of Darcy and Elizabeth being trapped together. Darcy, Elizabeth, and the reader go through quite a cycle of emotions during this experience. Lizzy is playful and doesn’t miss a chance to tease/provoke/argues with Mr. Darcy, but at the same time she is quick to detect Mr. Darcy’s stress and is amazing with how she helps him cope with a harrowing situation. In addition, I love how all was revealed between Darcy and Elizabeth during this strange time together. Ms. King (Christie Capps is a pen name for the lovely J. Dawn King) fleshes out Darcy’s and Elizabeth’s with new details and vulnerabilities. It was so refreshing to seem them be candid with each other, and to even go so far as to reveal secrets about themselves that few others know.

I adored both Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in this tale. Their actions and characters were believable, flawed, and at times adorable. I loved their playful exchanges and I especially loved what happened before they were rescued. And even though we don’t see much of Lady Catherine, Colonel Fitzwilliam, and Mr. and Mrs. Collins in this tale I delighted in their scenes in this story. Charlotte and Colonel Fitzwilliam do us proud, and Lady Catherine is too much!

This tale, like so many of others by Christie Capps, is an uplifting and diverting diversion that is perfect to enjoy in one sitting. Lost and Found is tied with A Forever Kind of Love as my favorites from by Christie Capps so far. With such troubling and stressful times, a novella by Christie Capps is just the thing to help your lose your troubles, escape your reality, and find some joy. See what I did there? 😆

Third Listen now.

How I love this Novella! It is sweet, heartwarming and has funny moments. Darcy is a little tease, but also prideful like in canon. ODC have their quarrel while stuck in small space, but like I said, also sweet and heartwarming moments.
I liked how we got to 'see' a vulnerable side of Darcy, even around Elizabeth. Same for Elizabeth.

It's narrated by Stevie Zimmerman, and let me tell you dear Readers. I think she's one of the best narrators and I listened to a lot so far.

Something to recommend :-) You can find it on J. Dawn King's Youtube account if you don't own it.

-Quick Read (108 pages)
-Low to non Angst
-Clean Content

Even now with my third listen, I have nothing to change.

I’m a big fan of the Pride and Prejudice-inspired novellas by Christie Capps (the pen name of J. Dawn King). These short and sweet stories are just the thing to help me relax when dealing with work-related stress and general busyness. Lost & Found is a Regency-era variation set at Rosings Park, when Mr. Darcy is fighting his feelings for Elizabeth Bennet. When a trip to Lady Catherine’s library ends with Elizabeth’s disappearance, only Mr. Darcy and Mrs. Collins are convinced that something is wrong. In search of Elizabeth, Darcy finds a secret passage, and in the darkness and confusion, he ends up locked in a wardrobe along with her.

In this unused area of the house, the pair are not likely to be found — at least not until Colonel Fitzwilliam returns from estate business and puts his childhood “hide and seek” prowess to good use. In the meantime, Darcy and Elizabeth slowly open up to one another, learning and helping each other through their darkest fears, discovering each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and realizing that their circumstances — though accidental — will have some serious consequences.

I thought this was a very touching story, with two very strong characters forced to reveal their weaknesses to one another. Their strange circumstances give Darcy and Elizabeth an opportunity to work through their differences in a way that propriety would not allow, and therefore, the foundation for their relationship is strong. I always find it interesting to see how they will work things out without the Hunsford proposal or Darcy’s letter. And all the chaos caused by their disappearance makes for a humorous scene at the end with Lady Catherine, Colonel Fitzwilliam, and the Collinses. I nearly cheered out loud for our dear couple!

This Pride and Prejudice story features our dear couple talking out all their difficulties while stuck in a space that they cannot escape. It is a beautiful conversation as you feel the flow of their discussion work through their misunderstandings. They also learn not only their strengths, but their weaknesses.

Only one thing jumped out at me was Elizabeth referring to oxygen and hydrogen atoms. I tried to look up the history of that information but it felt out of place. That being said, I loved this story! I look forward to reading it again.

This was an enjoyable and sweet quick read that I thought the author did a good job of developing the characters of Elizabeth and Darcy as well showing how they overcame some of their misunderstandings in a short amount of time. I also enjoyed watching how they helped each other overcome their individual fears.

This is a short story and took about half an hour read. It takes place at Rosings and all are in attendance, including Darcy, Colonel Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth. During a particular period of rudeness by Lady Catherine he suggests that Elizabeth would be interested in seeing the Rosings library. Half an hour later Elizabeth seems to have disappeared. Darcy manages to find her but a compromising suituation ensues in which they to talk and air the grievances in a most amusing manner.

There is some really good humour in this book. It's not a book to be taken too seriously - it's a short light read that is good fun. Usually I'm not a massive fan of the novella but I did enjoy this. The only real complaint I have about it is that I didn't like the end - I think it would have been better if the story had finished when Darcy and Elizabeth leave the library rather than follow them as they go outside. That last bit seemed a bit rushed.

I absolutely loved it!

Thrilling, captivating, funny and utterly unputdownable!

I love when ODC is potraited with imperfections. To me, PnP is not about two perfect human beings but it is about the magnetism that pulls two people towards each other, despite of any circumstance.

Elizabeth was lost at Rosings and mr Darcy went in search of her, despite his aunts protestations.
Trapped in a dark and cramped space, conversation ensue and secrets are revealed while misunderstandings are resolved.
Ends in a lovely epilogue.

Heartily recommend this book!

This is such a sweet story with nearly 95% Darcy and Elizabeth time. And what a time they have! A claustrophobic Darcy and a mercurial Elizabeth confined inside a wardrobe. They argue, they confess, they soothe each other, they comfort each other and every interaction was so enjoyable. I loved this novella.

I loved this short novella. It starts out with Elizabeth visiting Rosings Park. Elizabeth goes missing from the library in a secret passage inside Rosings. Darcy goes to find her and gets trapped inside with her. Here they talk and put all misunderstandings on the table. The dialogue is beautifully written by this author. I am moved by this story. They develop a strong bond and open their hearts to one another. Beautiful just, beautiful.

I forgot Christie Capps is J. Dawn King. I will not be reading either one any more.

This is one of those authors where I wonder if they’ve ever even read Pride and Prejudice. If she has, it’s time for another reading preferably with historical notes attached.

As far as the abuse shelf, Elizabeth first accidentally kicks Darcy then deliberately elbows him hard. It wouldn’t be funny if Darcy did it to her and in my opinion it’s not funny here. It makes Elizabeth seems like a hot headed idiot.

I love Christie Capp's P&P novellas. They are beautifully done, in keeping with what we know of Austen's characters but with enough new and surprising information to keep me turning pages.

My only two issues with this story:

Firstly, Darcy takes only half a second to freak out when a servant says that Miss Bennet is no longer in the library.... This seemed kind of ridiculous. It would surely take everyone much, much longer to think something has happened to someone in a house, rather than that she has just wondered off and got lost in an unfamiliar and massive house, or been waylaid talking to a servant, or had stomach troubles and needed to use the water closet in a hurry and is still there... All of those things seem more likely than sudden danger. I would have preferred a general search and discreet questioning of servants before Darcy's panic sets in.

The second, really minor fault I have with this, is that she describes Elizabeth as having sapphire blue eyes, and Austen's Elizabeth Bennet most definitely has 'dark eyes'.

Yes, I am that nitpicky, I can't help it. These are the kinds of ridiculous things that sound a klaxon in my brain and don't let me relax and fully enjoy a book.

Nevertheless, this is an excellent short story, I enjoyed it very much.

"His aunt's sycophantic parson, Mr. Collins, was accompanied this day by his wife, his wife's young sister, and a guest in their home - a young lady who had completely unsettled him when he had earlier visited Hertfordshire, Miss Elizabeth. Miss Elizabeth was… she was ….. Oooooh! He would think of her no more!

Lost & Found (2018, Quiet Mountain Press) by Christie Capps, is a standalone Pride and Prejudice variation - a romance, of course - set in Regency England, as in canon. I started this book on YouTube because I enjoy Christie Capps' bite-sized novellas!

Rating: 5 stars
Narration: 5 stars

Is it clean/chaste? Yes
Other content issues: No
Christian publication: No

The heroine: Elizabeth Bennet is the titular lost and then found person in the story. While visiting Darcy's aunt Catherine at Rosings Park, she disappears.

The hero: Mr. Darcy, naturally, finds her and promptly finds himself in the same predicament she was in, causing them BOTH to be missing. That provides ample opportunity for them to have an unchaperoned conversation that digs deep, which isn't quite the thing in the Regency era.

What I liked: I liked the dialogue. There were good lines for Lady Catherine, Elizabeth, and Darcy.

What I didn’t like: The cover is gorgeous, but the eye makeup is definitely too modern.

Audiobook: The full book narrated by my favorite, Stevie Zimmerman, is available on YouTube .

I look forward to reading more by Christie Capps aka Joy Dawn King. (Her webpage does not seem to have all of her Christie Capps books listed, but as far as I know, Goodreads does.)

Also consider trying: Mr. Darcy's Bad Day , also by Christie Capps.

Wonderful

The story begins during Elizabeth's visit with Charlotte Collins. The parsonage group attends dinner at Rosings one afternoon. Elizabeth tours the library, and inadvertently activates a secret passageway in a wall, and gets locked inside. Eventually she's missed, and while the staff is searching for her, Darcy remembers about secret passageways in Pemberly's library. Darcy finds the same one as Elizabeth. Unfortunately, he also gets locked in, so now they're both locked together in a small and dark space.

At the start, Elizabeth doesn't like Darcy very much, and Darcy is still struggling with his strong attraction to her. What follows is like a crash course in getting to know each other. Their isolation, and their enforced closeness, is the perfect environment for letting down their guard and revealing their true selves. They both quickly learn each other's strengths and weaknesses, and it's a major revelation for them both.

This is a swoon worthy Darcy, but one who also reveals his vulnerabilities, so he's also more human and endearing. Elizabeth is just how we love to see her: witty, smart, brave, kind, and compassionate. She also reveals vulnerabilities, which makes her more human as well. The dialogues between Elizabeth and Darcy are delightful.

The book is well written and well edited. I recommend it highly.

This Pride and Prejudice variation begins at Rosings Park during Lizzy's visit to the new Mrs. Collins. Lady Catherine has gathered the residents from the parsonage, including Lizzy and Darcy, to her parlor and is holding court. Lizzy is sent to the library, and when the servants look for her thirty minutes later, there is no sign of her. Darcy immediately goes on the alert and organizes a search. However, when he discovers her hiding place and is trapped along with her, the two use their time together to find more than the way out.

I really enjoyed this sweet variation! Lizzy and Darcy had plenty of page time together, and were able to discuss their differences without time apart. Their conversations were witty and the whole book was a pleasure. I've never been disappointed by a Christie Capps novella, and I can't wait for more to be published!

This is a sweet variation where Darcy and Elizabeth are forced to spend time together. In doing so, they learn more about their true selves and end up in a mutually appreciative relationship. The only thing I didn't love was not finding out who had moved the furniture ensuring the time together. I expected a confession after the fact that would indicate whether it was done on purpose to E&D or if they just happened to end up in the situation.
I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Stevie Zimmerman and it was very well done, as I've come to expect of her.
I enjoyed the story very much.

Lost & Found is a fun read

This is a cute P&P variation that find our couple at Rosings Park where Darcy realizes he is in love with Elizabeth. Darcy’s cousin,Anne, suggests that Elizabeth visit the Library before she returns to the Collins parsonage. She disappears. Darcy is beside himself and searches for her. They both become trap in a small closet with barely breathing room. I really feel sorry for Poor Elizabeth... NOT! This is a clean version that it is wonderfully funny!
