Yukko and Alice have escaped the cats! Poco is still outside, though, and Yukko refuses to abandon him. Can she get her dog inside and avoid getting eaten by the horde of hungry felines?
The series quickly loses the gonzo energy from the first volume as much time is spent with the government forces trying to cover up the fact that an entire neighborhood of people has shrunk to six inches in size and giving some backstory behind the event. Meanwhile the miniature people have quickly adapted to their situation and run around having adventures like their new size is hardly a problem at all, removing a lot of the horror and tension.
I have several more volumes on hand, so we'll see if it picks up from this nosedive.
Welcome back to Ishikawa's "Wonderland". Thank you for giving this comic a chance. It's by far my favorite project that I've worked on so far, and I can't wait for all of you to see what happens next.
17/12/19 Still really enjoying the pacing of the story! I definitely would say this was an improvement of volume 1 - it's still a bit choppy, but definitely not as much as previously. I'm excited to read the next volume, I'm hoping for the pacing to stay the same and getting to know the characters a bit more, because they're all still strangers to me - haven't been able to connect yet.
In this volume, Yukko and Alice team up with an old security guard named Genda and, after having narrowly escaped a horde of hungry cats, must now escape all manner of other dangers as they leave the shopping mall and try to reunite with Yukko's dog, Poco, from whom they've become separated.
This still isn't quite hitting home with me. I love the artwork, and I like the characters (Genda, with whom we become acquainted in this volume, is great). This volume moves at a slightly slower pace, something I also appreciate.
I still feel like some of the panels don't quite connect properly, and this makes for occasionally confusing reading.
I do really love the idea, though, and how Ishikawa has taken the fairytale-like concept of being or becoming tiny and turning it into something frightening and grotesque. The story is also frequently quite funny.
We're back with Yukko and Alice, where Pokko-Chan is stuck outside the gate with all the voracious cats. In this volume, we learn why the Fury Road wannabees look like that - because they WERE watching Fury Road when everyone got shrunk! We also get a bit of an understanding why everyone in this area has shrunken, and Alice was behind it all along. We are also introduced to someone Alice seems to hate - Iosef, who is unaffected by Alice's shrink powers, and can control the animals.
I continue to like the slow pace of information we are given in between the suspensful scenes of Yukko and Alice continuing to try to survive. There are still some horrible moments where tiny people are killed by their environment or animals, but there is a feel-good moment at the end of this volume that redeems the horrors of this volume. The art is still haunting as befits this tale of death and mystery.
Seven Seas rates this for older teen. The amount of gore/blood/violence makes this rating still appropriate.
The connection between Alice and the shrinking of the people in the prefecture is revealed. A new threat emerges somewhat under the control of the Special Defense Forces. And, good grief, the rats! I enjoyed the background we got into the cause of the event and felt that our story improved from the last volume. The art, however, is very inconsistent. The seamless incorporation of photo reference elements into the artist’s style is largely gone in this volume. There is an incongruity between back and foreground elements. Other details were abbreviated. The rat swam was just dark ink waves that you would not have guessed were rats had they not appeared in previous panels. I like the direction enough to follow a few more volumes, but I hope we see a return to the visuals of the first book.
Surviving the world when you are the size of a small toy.
In this volume we already get answers as to why people have been shrinking, how a group of tiny men that look like they live in a Mad Max movie came along, and we get to see what has been happening to the shrunken people that have been gassed and captured as we discover the organization behind the strange events up to know. Honestly without exposing any spoilers I had a feeling about who was responsible for the shrinking but I did not expect any other unusual characters or who was involved. I hope the truth surprises you too. :)
The violence and Gore is still just as graphic as the first volume now there's some kind of psychic powers that the one main character has, and a villian who also has psychic powers who is controlled by the government to be used as a weapon. While the concept is good, I'm not into horror. I won't be reading any other volumes.

Really enjoying this interesting take on the being shrunk/ Alice in wonderland concept. Art could be a little clearer at times and the Japanese sound affects can beca bit confusing but overall the art is great. Has a distinct Akira like / government conspiracy theme growing as the book goes on.
This manga is so interesting! It just keeps getting better, and we learn more about what's going on. Definitely looking forward to reading more, I think I can read the whole series today.
This is so interesting and even more strange characters are added. One of the scenes had me worried and sad, but I'm glad it worked out. I can't wait for the next volume!
We got more information on what’s going on but still need a real reason why. Other than Alice and boy named Iosif that have powers? I think anyways. Also, I’m so glad Poco ended up being ok!
