Ever since a satyress set her sights on Naoe, Elfuda has been guarding her friend round the clock. But when the satyress discovers Elfuda’s weakness for fast food, both Naoe and Elfuda are in for a whole ton of trouble!
Another great volume overall. Art style continues to impress me with how well it’s shaded and detailed with cartoon flair. The serious faces as the punchlines was hilarious and made me love this series more. Still has uncensored breasts and doesn’t feel hyper sexual. This is something that I would then say I could recommend this series for really everyone but really if you have the taste for bigger girls. Reminds me of “Do you like big girls?” Which I love lol but way more sexual; they both feature small guy with lots of bigger women around him in harem fashion. I like this version of slice of life because I also learn something about health and fitness in every chapter. They even have food recommendations and workouts for specific body areas; all while being hilarious and relatable.
Third book in and I’m sold. Hope the series continues to impress me! (Now I’m in a moment where the re-release is coming January next year so I’m bummed 😓 but I’ll wait lol)
One thing I find fascinating about this series so far is how little romance there is. It has the structure of a harem story but not the storyline. Naoe's relationship to these women is very professional and cordial and grows into something like true friendship and yet there is still no romantic tension between our male POV character and the female lead or any of the other women. There's no cringy attempts to seduce him, no overbearing reminders of Japanese gender norms while one of them obsesses over making him food (he actually does most of the cooking) or doing the cleaning. In other words, this isn't Shuffle! or Tenchi Muyo. It's not even Love Hina, because, despite having plenty of pervy scenes, most of them are weird mishaps directed at the other women and not him. There's a bit of a running gag that, because many of them see Naoe as their medical care provider, they could care less if he sees them naked, and he's generally unfazed by it, too. It's wildly refreshing, to be honest. I enjoy romantic stories quite a bit but sometimes it's nice to see male-female relationships that represent some kind of "platonic ideal".
Of course, this could change as we go along and maybe romantic tension will develop between him and our main elf character or maybe someone else. As long as it's handled well I'll be fine with it because at this point our story has sort of earned it by showing restraint.
It was much better then I was expecting. It still manages to include facts about how to exercise in a way that is healthy. Good story so far though I think the number of clients the "human-san" character has is getting overly much. This one seems to have taken it from being a manga about health to a manga about the girls who he is helping with a new way they got their selves fat each chapter and/or a new girl that might or might not stay for the later chapters.
My job requires me to constantly be reading in order to be able to better recommend books to our guests and I have been preaching the gospel of Plus Sized Elf since I picked up the first volume on a whim. I have lost count of how many copies I've hand-sold, but I'm glad to know some nerds out there are gawking at these monster girls and also working on their personal fitness goals.
