Andrea, a Brigham Young University graduate, is an avid reader and outdoor enthusiast (hiking, fishing, boating, biking, spending time in the Rocky Mountains, and taking walks). She spent a year and a half serving the Spanish speaking community in Toronto, Canada, and fluently speaks 2 ½ languages. She plays several instruments, not including the banjo, and loves putting together musical arrangements. Her favorite sports are basketball and football, though several knee surgeries and incurably awful coordination prevent her from playing them.

Andrea is always in the mood for a good movie with close friends and family (especially her husband and mom), with a large glass of milk and a bowl of overly buttered popcorn nearby. She also enjoys oil painting, making earrings, squeezing every bit of oxygen out of Ziploc bags, and she hopes to someday travel to Italy and Alaska.

Forsaken Prince is the first book in a series of teen epic fantasy.
What if you discovered that your a prince in another magical world?

Forsaken Prince is a significant rewrite of The Key of Kilenya. The basic story is the same and most of what the travelers encounter is the same, but it happens at a faster pace with more sophisticated vocabulary as it is intended for a more mature audiëntie.

From the very first page, the story just takes off. Even though I basically know what was going to happen having read The Key of Kilenya a few months ago, I was still sucked right in and could barely put the book down.

The editing is perfect. I didn’t notice a single typo or other mistake. I very highly recommend reading Forsaken Prince even if you’ve read The Key of Kilenya in the past. It’s totally worth it!!!!

This is a great fantasy book for young fantasy lovers. It moves at a quick pace and the writing is easy to read and understand. I think that it would be a great fit for an in-between reader, someone who needs a little more to a story and not ready for the in-depth plot of a more advanced book.

I enjoyed the story and the characters. Andrea Pearson did a great job at laying down the foundation for her series. A young man finds that he is a Prince from another world and is called to rescue his father and sister when they are kidnapped by one of the kingdom's enemies.

For me, the story lacked depth. It went a little too fast for my taste and brushed over details. Like I stated above, this is a perfect book for someone looking for a light fantasy or is a younger reader.

The book does contain some violence.

I got to 50%, then I just couldnt take it anymore.

The story starts average with a boy being told that he is a prince of some other planet. His father and sister are taken hostage by some evil dudes and he has to save them.
And his reaction is nonexistent to that. No screaming, shouting, telling them to solve their own problems?
Just "kay mommy, will do so." While his mom stays at home....
Seriously? He doesn`t klnow Sh... about it?!

And of course he has to have some super powers.
Seriously, the amazing revelation came around 50% of the book like
" You have magical abilities." and he`s like
"what, me? never!"
And I was like "NO FCKING SH.. SHERLOCK!"
ARE you serious, he just sounds like some Gary Sue in the making, it`s not like you saved yourself from some magically closed room or stuff like that, noooo, totally not

Also, there was literally no explanation why they had to run through the forest and the mud bubbles. None! The girl even said she took another way to the village which is way safer? So they would be way faster and not half dead when arriving wherever they wanted to go to?! That`s just ridiculous. And then there were descriptions of them walking...and walking...and walking...!!!!

And some fifteen meter fall, of course doesn`t break his legs, coz then the story would be way shorter....so only some of his ribs hurt...but he can walk with them for another few days.... and run...and jump Seriously?!

In general, everybody seems overpowered: The enemies, he will probably be as well, his one friend, the key they`re searching for....

I thought I might enjoy this book, but boy, was I wrong!

Excuse me for this rant, but I seriously had to get it out of my head!

This started off the way many of my shorter fantasy novels do, in a way that is too short and fast-moving to get across what it needed to.

However, I'm glad that wasn't the case with the rest of the novel. As the story went on, I actually did begin to feel for the three main characters, and I can say they were definitely not cardboard cutouts the way I was worried they would be.

I actually really enjoyed this. While it didn't have a lot of plot twists, there were some, and they were all important to the story. While I at first thought the story jumped around from place to place, the pacing was necessary to shape the story, as was the set up and all of the side characters.

I feel like Andrea Pearson does a good job of making the characters come on stronger at the end of the story in order to build up to The Ember Gods. At first, I figured I would just read the other books because I own the first three, but by the end of the novel I am actually looking forward to reading the next few installments. Andrea Pearson creates a world I am excited to return to.

Forsaken Prince

3.0/5.0 So from what I can gather, Forsaken Prince is the first book of a new series re-write/re-imagining of an older series just with the characters being a few years older. I have personally not read any of her other works so I have no frame of references for her older (original) series. The book itself is fast paced and is constantly moving; while this made for an exciting adventure, it did little for character development and growth. Slowing down the pace in strategic locations and lengthening the story would have also helped smooth out inconsistencies in character interactions and attitudes. For the most part, they fell a little flat for me and they really could have been given some time to get some depth and characterization. It is a shame, though, because the setting is actually really interesting and the plot is at least somewhat cohesive. The story itself has a kind of a LitRPG feel to it, but instead of a pure fantasy world I would have described it more of having an Alice and Wonderland feel to it, very cool idea.

For the most part, while I might see where the next book takes me, it’s a shame the characters seem to take a back seat. If the book had been fleshed out a bit more, with its interesting world, it could have been really something to gush over.

Fantastic Updated Series

I wasn't sure how I would feel about an update, because I loved the Kilenya series so much the first time. It far exceeded my expectations! There is so much action without a lot of boring descriptions and I love that Jacob is older! My daughter wanted a lot more information, because she hadn't read the series and was lost. I feel that this is a great restart to an amazing series!

I received a free e-book copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is a phantasy book aimed at teenagers/YA, but even as an adult I enjoyed it very much.
The book is about Jacob, a boy who finds out in reality he is a prince from another world and he has to fulfil a quest in order to save his father and sister from the evil creatures that have taken over their kingdom. Along the way he has to overcome many obstacles and fight for his life and his companions.
It is fast-paced but even so manages to be just the right amount of descriptive as not to be boring. I would definitely recommend it to YA who are into fantasy.

Received from Author in exchange for honest review

Key of Kilenya is one of my favourite books, so going into Forsaken Prince (which is Key of Kilenya rewritten) I was a bit reluctant. What if it isn’t as good? Well, it’s even better. 😏
Jacob is 16 year old boy. One day girl approaches him, to take him to Makalos so he can help find Key of Kilenya and he just dismisses her, thinking she talks crazy. 😏

He raised an eyebrow. “Excuse me?” Was that even English? “Key of . . . colon? Uh . . . Who hired you?”

When he gets home, there are monsters lying dead, his mom hurt and dad and sister kidnapped. He has no choice but to go with the girl in he wants to save them. There is evil in that world that is looking for him.

Forsake prince is past pace story of Jacob’s journey to save his family. He and his companions travel through new land full of dangers. The side characters are well developed and have important part in the story.

Can’t wait see what happens to Jacob in the next one. :)

This is a re-write of the book called The Key of Kilenya. At first I was un-sure how much more a re-write of this story could offer, and did I really want to re-read a book I found although good, but also quite young in vocabulary and action. I am glad I decided to see. This version offers the reader an older version of the main character and with that comes a more commercial range of readers who I believe will enjoy this story. Andrea Pearson has managed to add more depth to the characters, I no longer see a young boy, I see a more mature young man who faces and deals with situations that are the same, but are dealt with in a way you would expect in this age range. The characters journey's are complex and dangerous but meet with impetuous determination of a main character who now, much earlier on, has the support of the friends around him. Less time is spent on the surroundings as they travel, which I prefer because there is enough context given for you to be able to see in your minds eye the places they visit. The character development and relationships are introduced much earlier, giving you the chance to see how they are built together. The storyline is stilll very much the same, but now more description is given to the major events. Twists and turns follow all the way through, keeping your interest, but less time to sleep, as you will have the need to read as much as possible. The first version of this book was good, Andrea pearson has now made it exceptional. You can see how much work has gone into this re-write, and it is certainly a credit to a phenomenal writer. This has set the precedent for re-writes of the whole Kienya Chronicles series. In the first instance I only read the first book, however now, I look forward to continuing with the series. If you like the brilliant imagination and the way this author can transcribe onto paper raw emotions that you feel down to your toes, then take a look at the Mosaic Chronicles she has also written, I highly recommend them. The Forsaken Prince is unprecedented

I received this book in exhange for an honest review.
I've wanted to read this when it was known as The Key of Kilenya, and even though it's had some changes made, I'm so glad I finally read it. It's an easy read and since I wanted to read it, I knocked it out in two days.

Pearson doesn't hesitate to jump right into conflict, and that probably helped draw me in. I knew enough going on from reading the description, and then enough was explained after a tense moment, and then I was flying through the story. There wasn't really a dull moment in the story. There was either information, conflict, or insight into a person. I wasn't sitting there wondering when I thinks would pick up again.

All that is needed for a good story was there (such as world building), but since it's shorter there was not as much depth as other stories. That probably happens with shorter/easier reads. Even if it is a good story, there isn't as much content as a longer, harder book. The next book in the series will most likely delve into more aspects of the key, Jacob's future, and the future of the kingdom, but it was definitely "here's what's relevant."

When Aloren first entered, I wanted to scream at her several times. As the story progressed, I found myself warming up to her. I appreciate that Jacob accepted what he needed to do and didn't run around screaming "this isn't real!" because he couldn't handle it, but still wanted go back to his normal life. He also knew that in order to survive he needed to rely on people and information, and didn't try to do it himself.

The different creatures and species intrigued me. Their powers seemed amazing, and so the fact that there's a world that has all of them existing together (even the disgusting, vile ones, which with them I'm surprised some of the others lived as long) impressed me.

If you're looking for an easy read or something in the fantasy genre, I recommend that you pick up The Forsaken Prince. Following Jacob's adventures won't disappoint, and I'm wondering what he'll do next.

A big thank you to Inspired Kathy for this e-book.

Jacob Clark is your average teenager. All he worries about is school, and his afternoon job. And then he is thrown into this magical mess.
I have to say I like the way Jacob handles it. He doesn’t work hard to not believe the obvious. What is noteworthy about Jacob’s character, is how normal he is. Most human characters who stumble into magic worlds, always remark how weird things happened to them all the time, how they thought they were crazy, etc. Jacob is therefore one of the few such characters one can relate to. Seeing as we never jumped roofs, or had imaginary friends who turned out to be much more, we can easily put ourselves in Jacob’s shoes.
The character of Aloren was not fully explored, but I am guessing that is for future books. It is probably evident there is a spark between her and Jacob. To avoid spoilers, all I’m going to say is I like how slowly their relationship is developing. It is not a “That girl across the café is hot. I don’t care if she is dangerous.” Again, realistic. This is how real relationships develop in real life.
This was a real page turner. I liked the resolution. The issue of the novel was dealt with, and there is just enough for you to come back for number two. I am definitely looking forward to Ember Gods.

In The Forsaken Prince, Andrea Pearson begins the story of a teenager named Jacob. This book begins with finding out his mother was attacked, his dad and sister were kidnapped and there is a dead creature that isn’t from Earth in their house. He learns he is a prince and this begins his first adventure in Eklaron. What happens from there? I won’t spoil it, but let’s say that the author has set up an incredible world where interaction with Earth, magic, kind and intelligent people (similar to humans) assist Jacob in the journey of his lifetime. He makes friends, learns about evil enemies and learns a lot about himself. He questions a lot about the things he knows - or thought he knows about the world. So from the most basic plot, it is similar to other stories.... but it is so much more! Mrs. Pearson has the gift of storytelling and with the first book leads us into a number of intriguing books that all interconnect in some way. The depth of characters draws the reader in, the interesting situation entertains as well as educates and the ending makes you realize there is so much more for the author to tell. I recommend this book to everyone, and I believe it won’t be the last one you read by this author.

This was a great start to the first in this book series. It really grips you and takes you into the story and what happens to Jacob throughout it.

Jacob is an interesting character he doesnt know about his family history or where he really comes from he thinks he is human and an average one at that. Until Aloren comes to his town and starts talking about things he thinks are crazy. He blows her off until his family calls him numerous times he rushes home after they dont answer him and when he arrives two creatures are dead his mom is injured and his father and baby sister have been kidnapped and he has to go after them.

This story is all about his journey and learning about his homeland while going to save his family. Learning his father is a king and he is a prince with magical powers that start to bloom.

This is a great young adult book or for anyone that loves fantasy as an adult myself I totally fell in love with it. I cant wait to read the next book in the series.

This author is truly amazing and im so glad I came across her books. She really knows how to paint an amazing picture of this other world you get thrown into.

This book has a nice pace, though some parts didn't seem to make too much sense such as the part where they got separated around the start of the journey, and when Jacob gets out of the place the snake brought him in, Akeno doesn't seem too worried despite being apart, not bothering to answer Jacob until he is treated like a sack of potatoes for the first time (I could be missing something, I feel this is very obviously strange if I am reading it right).
But the story is very interesting and could be very good if some minor things were changed. I loved Jacob's uniquely thought-up powers as well.

It did improve greatly from the old books. I definitely recommend this book, and to read the rest as well.
Since a book with only conversations and serene walking the whole time isn't interesting, I also feel that the intense parts which we read for, with fighting and butt-clenching moments should have the pace slowed down, having more detail about thoughts, movement, to really see it in your head.

If you like fantasy, magic and adventure, you will like this book and series. Forsaken Prince is the first book in the Kilenya Chronicles series. This is an updated version of The Key to Kilenya series which was geared more towards middle schoolers. You can read this book as a standalone, but it does set the stage for future books. There is violence and use of magic.

The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. The characters are well written and multidimensional. The author does a good job of keeping a steady pace throughout the book to keep this reader interested. It keeps you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed in the pages ahead. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading future books in the Kilenya Chronicles series.

I received a copy of this book from the author and chose to leave a review for other readers.

Events start to happen quickly, and the action is immediate,
Jacob is soon on his way to rescue his father and sister as well as recover the stolen key of Kilenya that only he can activate and use.
Aloren's allows their friendship time to grow from the beginning, and also meet Akeno, Jacob's new friend among the Makalos.
It was my first book of the Kilenya Chronicles. The storytelling is treat, full of heart; Relationships are introduced earlier, giving you the chance to see how they are built together. Twists and turns follow all the way through. Interesting, its exceptional. Brilliant imagination, raw emotions that you feel down to your toes.
When I'm finish this one, I'll have no doubt to immediately continue with the rest of the series I'm glad I ask this book and book 2.

Fantasy and action lovers you need to read this book. First book in this series. Great for teens and up. I couldn't put it down so I think it has it all. It starts right away into the action and then the fun begins. I don't like to tell much of the story when I write a review but here goes... Jacob comes home to find ugly creatures from a sci fi movie dead in his home and no Mother or baby sister. He was told a strange story earlier by some stranger that says she knows who he is and that she needs his help. He has no idea what is what right now and it just goes on from there. Hope that peaks your interest. This author deserves it. She has the brain of a beautiful fairy and also a master of cunning and craftiness. Read this you will at least like it. But don't be surprised if you love it like I do.

KICKING UP DUST!!!
Talk about playing for keeps. This is another solid gold creation by Andrea. She really rocks this page turning bombshell 100%. If you're looking for an action packed, fast paced, hard hitting read, congrats my friends you've found it. Twists and turns abound bringing more suspense to keep your attention on the pages and your rear glued to your seat. It doesn't hurt that Andrea knows how to tell a story either. The characters are well developed and believable. Their personalities are unique individuals with traits of the person they portray with perfect balance. The scenes are so graphic and descriptive it paints a fantastic backdrop that really makes the storyline pop. Andrea did a fabulous job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Great job Andrea, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.

Jacob Clark lives a normal life until a girl in outlandish clothes finds him at his work and insists he must come with her. He doesn’t understand most of what she is talking about and refuses her request. Then he returns home to find evidence that she may not be crazy after all. After his mom confirms the existence of another world, he joins Aloren to travel back to his birthplace. Hopefully, he can tap into heritage he didn’t know had been passed down to him before more people are injured or killed. But to do that, he has to learn more about Kilenya and all the peoples and creatures who live there.

Definitely an entrancing story. I feel like I need to know more about some of the creatures to understand a story beneath the surface though. On to book two then…

If you love fantasy stories with enough "real life" in them that they could almost be true, this is the series for you !! Jacob is told he is a "Prince" from another world by a girl named Aloren, he telks ger she's stark raving crazy, until Demons attack, leaving his Mom beaten and his sister and Dad prisoners in the other world. Jacob has a limited amount of time to master his magical powers and find a way to get his family back without plunging the new world into a war that will leave it steeped in blood and darkness . If you like your fantasy clean, with good triumphing over evil with lots of magic involved, this is the story and series for you !! 5⭐'s

This book is the rewritten version of "The Key of Kilenya", book 1 in the Kilenya Chronicles. The beginning starts off just right with action and revealed secrets. This time we are not overwhelmed with a barrage of characters all at the beginning. Great for teens and adults alike. A fun and mysterious book that is so well written, it draws you into a whole new world. Magic, monsters, and mythical beings make up this new universe. This is a clean read with no sex or swearing. However, the fighting is intense. This book does have a small cliffhanger, however, the main storyline for this book is concluded satisfactorily.

Imagine coming home from school and finding your Mother hurt, your Father and Sister kidnapped and a few dead monsters in your house. AND that's not all, someone else wants you to leave and come to another planet and save your Father and Sister by finding the key. This sounds unreal to Jacob but he has to try.
As you read the story you will discover the amazing and horrifying adventures of Jacob, Akeneo and Alaren. The adventure also brings out the best of Jacob. He is slowly learning to be a prince. He is also learning to care for people and to feel bad because he can't save everyone.
The author, Andrea Pearson, has not only written a story for YA but a story for all ages.

Hidden Prince find out his heritage and goes on a quest to find his kidnapped father.
Jacob is approached by a young woman asking him questions. What she tells him has him headed home where he finds his mother injured and his father and sister kidnapped. He then receives a message telling him to find the Key of Kilenya and bring it to them. if he didn't his father and sister would die. This sets him off on a fast paced adventure full of monsters and traps. A great read for sitting and relaxing.

Continuous Action

Jacob is rudely yanked into a world of fantasy that is real yet has been hidden from him. He can't believe that he is a prince or that his subjects are depending on him to right what is wrong with their world. I like the action, watching his growth, and his concern for his friends and all people as he seeks to rescue his father and sister. Will there be a bit of romance when he goes off to rescue Aloren in the next book? I am about to start the next book.

I enjoyed this book. I thought the writing was excellent as was the character development. I had a lot of distractions going on when I was reading this, nevertheless, I could easily pick up the thread of the story. I still have questions about why the main character’s (the prince) parents didn’t tell him anything and didn’t train him. Seems like a crime. I guess this will be revealed in a sequel.

I received this book free with the intention to review, this didn't effect my opinion of the book.
This is a very intriguing fantasy, Jacob a Junior in high school is suddenly thrown into another world in order to save his dad and little sister, but the world is quite dangerous especially for one not familiar with it. This book was fun to read and held my interest throughout. I would recommend it to all lovers of fantasy.

The forsaken prince is easy pleasant reading. A boy discovers he is a prince from another world. His father and sister are abducted by strange creatures and he has to go back into that world to rescue them. One thing that did confuse me slightly is that he had an older brother who did not take part in this quest nor does he appear to know anything about this land despite moving to their current life when his younger brother was born.
