A hefty dose of mystery, horror, and suspense

This story hooked me from the start. Hints dropped along the way – inklings that things are not as they seem – had my danger-seeking radar on alert. I didn’t have to wait long for the story to escalate into a deadly situation for the main character, Maia.

On the run for survival and forced to leave behind the only family left to her, Maia has no choice but to work through the mystery surrounding the startling truth of who and what she is. A life-altering revelation that puts her on a path where there is no turning back.

The author does a great job of putting us in the moment, ratcheting up the tension and suspense. I’d like to see this world expanded into a series.

Demon Veil by Grace Hudson is well worth a read!

Maia has spent all afternoon stringing twinkly lights around the front of the Loaded Star. The bar is owned by her uncle, Rob, the only family she can claim since the deaths of both her parents. It hadn’t done a whole lot of business for a while, but after a renovation, Maia, Rob and the others who worked there were finally having some success. Until the night Maia learned that her life was a lot more complicated than she thought. Until the night of the murders. Until Maia comes to the conclusion she is not who she always thought herself to be.

Demon Veil is full of twists and surprises. Ms. Hudson is adept at keeping her readers guessing and turning pages as quickly as they can to find out what happens next. Intriguing, scary, gruesome and incredibly well written. This book will stick with me for quite some time.

Maia's normal day turns into the day from hell, literally. Demons exist and Maia is caught in the middle. I liked the character of Maia and the 'changes' she goes through. I would recommend it.

Demons, rockstars and a mystery; what else can a Girl ask for? This was an outstanding journey, the story is the strongest of all. It has adrenaline, funny moments and adventure, but I’ve never actually liked the main character as much. I don’t know, her decisions sometimes were reckless or plain weird, and I get that’s part of her personality but I couldn’t connect with that.

Everything else was awesome, I would love to see this book turn into a duet or a series.

Thank you, Netgalley.

Maia's uncle is killed by a demon and she flees his killer. I liked where the story was going but I thought the ending was a little rushed. I'm not sure if this is the beginning of a series because I think there is a lot more of the story to tell. An entertaining read.

I would like to thank the author and the Netgalley site for allowing me to read this book.

It all begins when an ancient evil is unleashed. Maia runs her uncle's bar except one night it goes wrong. She finds herself alone and totally scared and she has to run away from an evil she can't name. From now on she is a killer and if she wants to get out of it she will always have to be one step ahead of her pursuers. And whoever's following her knows her better than she does.

I immediately got hooked on the story which is so captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters.
