Beginning on Boundary is a memoir based on Margaret D'Arcangelo Capanna's life story. The book traces her parents' journey to America, her early life, and the fight over her parents' estate. Rosemary Capanna spent seven years with the award-winning Expression Christian Newspaper in Pittsburgh as a staff writer, photographer, music editor, interim editor, and webmaster. For many years she served as the staff photographer for the long-running television program, Lightmusic. Later, she provided creative input and wrote several episodes.
Continuing to merge her interests in faith and media, Rosemary was employed for ten years as the scriptwriter for the daily television show, His Place. Lightmusic and His Place were broadcast worldwide and won numerous awards. (Lightmusic: Billboard’s Best Video Show three years in a row. His Place: Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasting Award of Excellence/Public Affairs Program or Program Series.)
A fascinating read about the daughter of two Italian immigrants. Rosemary Capanna went searching for her mothers ancestry, and came away with this story. This book draws you in and won't let you put it down until you are finished. A well written story about family and the search for identity.
Rosemary Capanna's touching memoir based on the life of her mother, Margaret, explores the rich history of the American immigrant experience, the mysteries of personal identity, and the meaning of family in the modern world. Part personal narrative, part guidebook to the sometimes heartbreaking practice of digging into family history and mysteries, this book is beautifully written and deeply satisfying.
I loved the heartfelt story of this immigrant family’s journey. The believable characters were brought to life in a way that made me love and root for them. I found the prose to be terse yet captivating. A real page-turner. I especially liked the fact that Ms. Capanna included the back story of how she found the missing pieces of her mother’s memories. I found the book on a whole to be truly inspiring.
