Not really a fan of Adesuwa's struggle love stories, tried this on a friend's recommendation and as expected the struggle struggled.

I love her writing style and how realistic they are - but I'm a lover girl and I want to experience jooyyyy from start to finish 🫣

This story was so complicated and I wish we got more of the "happily ever after" at the end

Workplace romance and drama! Ose meets and falls in love with the perfect guy, Chuba. Chuba, let me just say—you deserve all the flowers 💐. After a disagreement between Chuba and Ose concerning Chuba’s ex-fiancée, Ose finds herself in a bar where she meets her long-time ex-fling, Kese. After a drunken encounter with Kese, Ose discovers she is pregnant.

This review won’t be complete if I don’t rant about Ose’s decisions. For a guy she claims to love with everything in her, it didn’t take long at all for her to jump into bed with another man—not just any man, but the one she has a tumultuous history with, Kese. Even after revealing the pregnancy to Chuba, he still said, okay, I will love you even if you are carrying another man’s child. And you would think this would make Ose cherish what she has with Chuba, but no!!! This girl wants to stress Chuba, thereby stressing me!!!!

Forgive me, but Ose always thought that even when she was in the wrong, Chuba would come crawling back to her. He would always come begging. Why?? Ose, in my opinion, didn’t value Chuba enough. At every point of disagreement she’s always quick to move on, to jump to the next thing!

Also, avoid dating your colleague or your boss, most especially if your workplace is a small to medium-sized start-up!!!! Please ooo, don’t say I didn’t tell you. Make your co-workers no use you and yours do free entertainment!

Overall, I loved the family dynamics displayed in this novel. A close-knit family is the best support system ever! Chuba’s and Ose’s relationship might not be one for the books, but I love Chuba!

Thank you Adesuwa O’man Nwokedi for the opportunity to read this book.

This is an emotionally rich, character-driven story that begins with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger and unfolds over the course of 20 years.

We meet Ose at a pivotal moment, finding out she’s unexpectedly pregnant. From there, the story takes us back in time, exploring her traumatic childhood, complicated family dynamics, close friendships, and romantic relationships. It’s a deeply layered narrative that slowly reveals how her past shaped the woman she is today.

What I love most is how Adesuwa handles themes like love, loss, trauma, identity, and resilience. Ose is a deeply human, flawed, yet inspiring character, and her growth throughout the novel is truly powerful. The emotional journey is authentic, the pacing solid, and the writing, as always; phenomenal.

Adesuwa proves once again why she’s one of my favorite writers. This story is more than just a romance, it’s a portrait of a life fully lived, and I highly recommend it.

For the longest time, i have always wanted to read this book, but out of nowhere, i thought about it today 😅 imagine i started this book this morning, and here i am in the evening writing my review 😀

This book is a mixture of pain, anger 😠 😡 happiness sadness all wrapped in one book
Angry for Ose decisions
Sad for how badly 😢 she was treated by her own biological parents and half siblings
Happiness for her maternal Aunty always being there for her and the forever love she found in chuba.
Pained for how her supposed boyfriend, kese, treated her when she genuinely thought she had found love ❤️ 😍

say no to work place relationship cause it sure can get messy at times.

Adesuwa sure knows how to tell a good story that will she mess with you emotional 😢 but of course, i love it 😀

Hmm, it's a 3.5 stars though but I don't know how good reads works yet.
Annoying FMC, indecisive and has of embarrassing moments, shame wore me Armai Capel, for her (you'd get this if you are Nigerian). It was a funny read and I learnt done lessons, I won't be sharing(read so you can learn). And Kese is such an arrogant man, urghhh
