These speeches by the then Indian Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri outline India's Policy, approach towards Pakistan in 1965 and response to its belligerent neighbor. The speeches are measured but forthright.
To be honest, these are just the communication from our former prime minister shastriji, our condition back then was really poor, now in defence, finance, education, food security and technology India is among top countries unfortunately in the path for gaining all these I believe we have weakened our unity. Now when nutorious neighbors misbehave, we are questioning our own armed forces and our own government which we collectively elected. I urge to all my fellow Indian to start prioritizing collective gain of nation before any selfish gains. If there is India then and only then their will be our own family/community/friends.
First of all there should have been description for the book in store. Well here is one from me :
It's collection of speeches given during 1965 war by then Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Shastri on various occasion.
It's short book. It gives little bit insight of struggles of government and people of India at that time and hence makes us appreciate freedom and infrastructure we have today. And you'll see how reaction of Pakistan in those times and in current situation (Feb 2019 terrorist attack) is almost similar, And how we, current generation, is taking our freedom for granted this days (myself included).
Collection of speeches of former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. In his speeches in the house or message to the people of India- he addressed present situation with Pakistan and China in 1965.How UN involved into the India-Pakistan pre-war discussion and cease fire came into picture from both sides? How Pakistan started war against India after discussion peace after Kuchh,Gujarat trial? How China gave threats of war to our country? He also appealed people of this great country about what are their duties towards keeping India freedom intact and not threaten by someone. He expressed his gratitude to Indian soldiers.
I picked up this book because I thought it would give a good perspective of Lal Bahadur Shastri's political idealogies. However, this book is just transcript of speeches by Lal Bahadur Shastri in August - September 1965. So it was a let down. The only other historical perspective one can draw from this book is that the India-Pakistan-China tensions have been just the same over 54 years. The calendars have changed, the tensions and expediency hasn't.
Present generation should read this book to understand from what depths india has arisen and from what perils it has survived. Today we see a strong India, a self reliant country, a well respected nation. But of course it was not always so. This book is an unbiased attempt to present the situation in such troublesome times and how the learnings from that era stand as foundations of what our nation is today.
This is a collection of speeches delivered by former prime minister of india late L B shashtri in Parliament in a span of fifteen days during Indo pakistan war of 1965.
