Decoding Your Dreams is a beginner’s guide to understanding the true source of our dreams, dream classifications, and even dream symbols. This book answers questions
Can we control our dreams?I used to dream all the time. Why has my dream life suddenly ceased?Should I pray for the gift of dream interpretation? What does it mean if I see people in my dreams who have already passed away? When do I share a dream I’ve received and when do I keep it to myself?Where does déjà vu fit into the world of dreams? Why should I pay attention to my children’s dreams? There are dozens of mentions of dreams in the Bible. From Abraham to Joseph, from Daniel all the way to Pontius Pilot’s wife, God has communicated with His people through dreams throughout recorded history.
Why would God choose to speak to us while we sleep? Perhaps it’s because we are too distracted during the day to sit still long enough for Him to share the deep secrets of His heart.
Jennifer LeClaire is convinced God speaks to us in ways that are very personal. At times he may use pictures, memories, impressions, or even a still small voice.
Let Decoding Your Dreams help you embrace your Spirit-inspired dreams!
Jennifer LeClaire is a prophetic voice and teacher with a growing media ministry. She directs IHOP-Fort Lauderdale and serves as news editor of Charisma magazine. In addition, she writes one of Charisma's most popular prophetic columns, "The Plumb Line," and frequently contributes to Charisma's Prophetic Insight newsletter. Her media ministry includes her website, 40,000 followers on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and a growing newsletter list. She lives in south Florida.
LeClaire reminds us that God spoke in dreams in the Bible and He does so today. Sleep studies indicate we usually dream at least four times each night. She gives tips on how to remember more dreams and suggestions on understanding what the dreams mean. It is important, she says, that we stay within the realm of biblical resources and do not turn to non-Christian resources. Scripture is our constant foundation.
If we wonder why God would use dreams to speak to us, LeClaire gives some theories. If we are ready to listen to what God has to say in our dreams, she suggests we ask God to speak to us this way and have an attitude of expectation.
LeClaire includes much on dream interpretation, including dreaming about biblical places, numbers, colors, symbols, etc. I was surprised to find out that culture has an influence in that symbols have different connotations for different people groups. For example, there is a hand gesture representing the University of Texas mascot, the head and horns of cattle. But that same gesture represents Satanism in Europe. (Loc. 1469/2812) What a change in meaning. Understanding the cultural aspects of symbols is very important in understanding dreams and I think she is the first I've seen point them out. And then there are the subjective symbols, meaningful to one person but meaningless to another.
She is also quick to remind us that not all dreams are from God and gives good ways to be discerning on dream sources. We can evaluate the fruit produced from the dream as well as know that a dream from God would never go against Scripture. She gives several examples of her own dreams to help us understand the process. She reminds us that dreams are subjective and symbols could have different meanings in different situations.
Dreams and their interpretation can be a difficult subject. LeClaire's book is very helpful in understanding the entire topic. I've read a few books on dreams yet learned some new and valuable information in this one. I like her emphasis that we ask the Lord as the interpretation belongs to Him. I like her pointing out that our emotional state influences our dream interpretation so it is important to seek out others who are wise in dream interpretation. I like the practical steps she gives.
I do recommend this book to Christians who desire to understand why God speaks in dreams and want some insight into discerning the meaning of dreams.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
This is a book that helps people learn to understand their dreams from God better. The author really stresses that dream interpretation is from God but she gives some helpful clues people can use to try to decode what their dreams might mean if they came from God. She goes into a lot of depth about different ways God speaks to us (not just through dreams). She gives examples of people God spoke to through dreams in the Bible. She gives some steps to interpreting dreams and explains how God may speak to people with colors, numbers, symbols, and different languages to get through to people in their dreams. She also gives some common dream meanings to what certain things might mean in dreams like when people dream of being chased, arriving late to an appointment, flying, etc.
I enjoy learning about how God might be speaking to people in their dreams since I have a lot of dreams and try to write them down after I wake up so I can remember them later. This book helped me learn that maybe not all the dreams I have come from God and they can be brought on by something I watched in a film, tv show, etc. or even just could be an attack from the enemy.
Learning about what dreaming about being at school might mean for some people spiritually was very interesting to me since I have many dreams about being at school in different classes, and others about trying to make it to other classes and the doors being shut and maybe locked, and also me missing the school bus a lot.
I also didn't know that there was a thing called watches in the middle of the night in Israel and that demons were active during the fourth watch between 3 - 6 a.m., which this author explains that is when Yeshua (Jesus) walked on water in Matthew 14:25-33 during a storm during the fourth watch.
It was also encouraging to read that it would help to review the dreams we write down periodically so we can see if they are maybe tied to other dreams we have later. Some people might also find it helpful to know that God might speak to us in dreams about something that may happen far down the road and the information he reveals to us in the dreams might help us prepare more for that time or maybe just know about what will be coming.

Great insights and direction on how to understand, interpret and respond to dreams
I have read a lot of books lately about dream interpretation. I believe that we are in the last days when many people will dream prophetic dreams, as described in Joel 2:28. This book is different from other dream interpretation books that I have read, in that Jennifer LeClaire provides more instruction on how to record, determine the source of, and understand what dreams may be telling us.
The author has a very useful chapter on interpreting some common dream motifs, such as colors and numbers. Another chapter which is unique compared to other books I have read is that she talks about how some of these motifs may be different in their interpretations, depending on the nation or the culture where you live and then gives specific examples. She also talks about the subjectivity of dreams, based on personal history and experience. She includes dreams and interpretations from her own life to illustrate her explanations. And she includes a chapter with commonly asked questions about dreams and interpretation.
In the back is a suggested format for recording your dreams. The author also encourages people to look back on previous dreams, especially if trams begin to re-occur. She constantly encourages readers to remember that ultimately it is not books, online dictionaries, or other people that most help us interpret our dreams, but that interpretations belong to God.
This book has helped me to become more intentional about journaling and asking the Lord about the meaning of and the response He desires to my dreams. Hopefully it will help me to understand what the Holy Spirit is trying to say to me (or others) through my dreams. If you are looking for a book that will make you more “dream literate“ then this is a good resource.
Adults dream four to six times a night. Sometimes we remember the dreams; sometimes not. Because many people are fascinated by dreams there is a plethora of books, many new age books, on how to interpret dreams. LeClaire believes that many, but not all dreams come from God. The Bible is filled with dreams from Abraham and Jacob to Daniel and Paul, even Herod’s wife had a dream that played a part in Jesus’ crucifixion story.
The book discusses the various types of dreams and includes sections on dream symbols and interpretation. I liked the fact that in addition to biblical symbols, the author presented a section on cultural symbols. We often don’t think about it, but the same symbol can be interpreted differently in different cultures.
The author also includes descriptions of dreams and their interpretation. Even though we try to interpret our dreams, we’re unsure of how the information we glean should be used. I found the section on application of dream revelations to be particularly interesting. She gives examples of how to take advantage of dream information, but cautions against trying to force revelations into reality.
I recommend this book for anyone interested in dream interpretation with an emphasis on the biblical aspects of dreams.
I received this book from BookLookBloggers for this review.
God speaks to us in many ways, including through our dreams. Just as He came to Joseph and Daniel and others throughout the Bible, He also comes to us. We must be open to receive. Jennifer LeClaire helps us understand the importance of our dreams in "Decoding Your Dreams". She shows us, through Bible stories and personal experience, what God is doing in our dream life. She also helps us recognize the way He speaks to us and helps us interpret our dreams.
While she doesn't offer specific dream analysis, she does share certain dream classifications using biblical symbolism. She is very careful to advise readers to search the Scriptures and seek God for interpretation and warns against turning to online sources and especially to those requesting money to interpret your dreams.
"Decoding Your Dreams" is a helpful resource if you are looking for wisdom and encouragement in interpreting your dreams.

I have read a few books on dreams and I must say I really enjoyed Jennifer LeClaire's Biblical insight into them. She hit on some very familiar thing in dreams which you seems to find in all kinds of Christian books about the topic, like the source of a dream, common dreams, write down your dream, ect... But she does hit on some new interesting things. I love how she talked about culture playing a role in how we interpret. What something means to an American, may not mean the same thing to someone in Brazil. This is great to remember when helping someone interpret dreams. She gives tons of examples to this form, numbers, animals, phrases and so forth. Very interesting and something I haven't seen in the books I have read.
I also, appreciate her being pushy on the importance of judging our dreams and that the interpretation comes from the Lord. To many times we either toss dreams away like they are worthless (not being a good steward) or we take everything to heart and react hastily. It's important that we seek God and ask Him about the dream.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and feel like the author added a new depth to my understanding of Biblical dream interpretation!
I recieved this book from the publishers for my honest review.
If you believe in the faith based teachings in this book and also remember your dreams, this can be a really neat read. While some may think it implements thought about what to dream or may cause the kinds of dreams after you read about them. It is a huge discussion in the world and I think that if you love the meanings and find yourself interested in wanting to choose to use the interpretations, that is wonderful. The book is not a dream dictionary and covers a wider spectrum in each section.
I appreciate Jennifer LeClaire’s book about dreams, where they come from, potential meanings, and her repeated warnings and exhortations to bring all before the LORD for His interpretation. In this age of many touting thoughts on spiritual things, her advise to seek first the LORD and His Word for understanding rings true.
This book has opened up my eyes to a lot of my dreams, it gived me so much biblical insight about the dream world. I enjoyed reading this book I would love to read more of her books. I recommend this book anyone that may want more dreams and to get the necessary steps and tools to gain a better understanding of your dreams.
This is a good introduction to an interesting topic. While she does go into some possible meansing for symbols, numbers, and names within the book, she also covers a lot of foundational information, like if God still speaks through dreams, other possible sources for dreams and how to tell the difference, and how to get better at remembering and interpreting your dreams.
For anyone looking for more information about dreams/dreaming, this is a great book to read. Lots of scriptural references to help build your understanding and give you a great foundation to build on.
This is a great book. I have questions about dreams I dream and always needed answers and this book helped me to understand some things. It doesn’t tell you the meaning of your dreams, but helps you to trust God for discernment and wisdom in finding what he’s trying to tell you, if it’s a dream from Him....I would recommend the book to everyone...Thank you to Net Galley and publishers of Decoding Your Dreams for opportunity to read and review with my honest opinion.
As someone who dreams this helped tremendously. However I do wish she would’ve added why many of us have blockages to our dreams many times. This I’ve had to learn as to why some might be sin, other times it’s cause our sleep schedule is too late, other times it’s things like lust, or a going to bed angry or frustrated. All in all a good book. Although one thing to keep in mind when dreaming is that usually God will reveal dreams to you in ways you understand as many dreams are often symbolic
I really liked the Christian perspective on dreams in this book. There were some parts that left me in wondering a little but for the most part, I really liked it! READ THE FULL REVIEW HERE ~> http://bit.ly/2GBB7cJ
Thanks to NetGalley for the ecopy for my Kindle. Although there were a lot of references to scripture and reasons why we might dream the way we do, the author is using her personal theories and speculations. The important thing is to remember not all dreams are God inspired.
Impresionante one of changing life book thank now I really understand how Important are dreams. A dream of God is in the same level as a prophecy. Wow be bless in the name of Jesus! My wife a me enjoy so much. A said is a fantastic book!!!!
Decoding Your Dreams What the Lord May Be Saying to You While You Sleep By Jennifer LeClaire is an informative and insightful read that is sure to make you stop and think. A book that shares what your dreams mean based on scripture. Decoding Your Dreams What the Lord May Be Saying to You While You Sleep is a book that you will read again and again. This would make a lovely gift or a nice addition to your own library.
Great book for anyone wanting to know more about the power that dreams often have. While using the Bible, it reminded me of many passages. Would be good for a new or a seasoned person to religion who has a open mind. Littered with meaningful examples but not with daunting language that’s not understood.
Thank you to the author and Netgalley for this ARC for an honest review.
This is a great book about the dreams (or perhaps messages??) that God sends us while we sleep. We often dream but many times cannot remember our dream or think it is simply sporadic moments. Jennifer LeClaire helps us to see that God does speak to us in our dreams similar to those that he spoke to in the Bible. She gives examples from the Bible of people falling asleep and God speaking to them. They remember the dream as a message from God and act on it. We tend to be too busy and callous to believe God would speak to us. This book shows exactly that not only can he, but God does.
I recommend this book for anyone trying to get closer to God by learning what he has to say to each of us.
This is a great book. I have questions about dreams I dream and always needed answers and this book helped me to understand some things.
