I’ve always been driven to succeed at everything I’ve tried. I graduated secondary school at age thirteen, earned a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering at sixteen, and finished my medical residency at twenty-two. My focus as Dr. Galen Hunter Christensen has been traveling the world to give medical care to people in remote villages…until now.
Sierra Jade Evans has pulled me into her orbit. This last year I’ve been preoccupied with finding ways to talk with her, wanting to know everything about her. Our likes and dislikes are almost identical, and the differences only complement our personalities, but we do have two problems: Her ability to trust has been shaken, and she’s hung up on being six years my senior.
Fate finally led us to spend one night exploring what could be, before sending us separate directions. But now I’m back.
I have an unquenchable thirst for Sierra—the only woman to ever fill the void in my life and not object to my dominance and kinky desires. I know I’ll have to work a miracle to gain her trust, but I’ll do anything to keep her close and make her mine.
**NOTE** For mature audiences, age 18+, due to strong language and sexual scenes. This is a standalone novel that does reference members from the Need Series and Titan Security, but you do not have to read those to read this. If you love an unlikely romance, a lot of steam, a little kink, and a little edge of your seat suspense, then you might want to check this book out. It covers several holidays from Halloween to Valentine's Day.
I grew up in a small town in South Florida and moved to Central Florida to attend college. I married my friend, love, and soul mate and still reside in the area with our amazing son, and a feisty, four-legged little doggie boy.
In my books, I draw on my background in healthcare, business, and science, along with my husband’s engineering and wireless technology knowledge.
I love to cook and create in the kitchen and on the bbq grill. I sometimes lose myself in a song at the piano. I enjoy crafting, amusement parks, and the beach!
Cynthia P O'Neill has written an exciting new story with “Keep Me Close”. Sierra has quit her job to move closer to her brother and his growing family. She has gotten out of a bad relationship and on top of that, she has recently suffered the loss of her grandmother. She only had, apart from her brother, just her grandmother in her life which make them all the family she has in her life. When she gets to town, she ends up running into Galen. She is hard to trust people and let them into her life. Soon she finds Galen someone she likes and she slowly lets him into her life. They have this immediate and instant connection. I love the chemistry that flares between them. Galen is this sexy man who really is out to rock Sierra’s world- all in a good way of course. He’s admired Sierra from a distance and is thrilled to have a chance to make his move. Galen is this super genies and is in town to finish his medical residency. There is a lot going on in the story and the sexual heat does sort of backfire on Galen when he makes his move too fast. There are ups and downs during the story , twists and turns…I was all aflutter, waiting to see of Galen and Sierra would get that all important HEA. This is one fabulous story that does give swoonworthy moments. I enjoyed the heat, drama, angst , family and passion that is imparted in this story. I cannot wait to read more stories set in this world.
This was my first book by this author. I thought the writing was good, but the story felt a little slow in the beginning.
Sierra has quit her job to move closer to her brother and his growing family. She is just getting out of a bad relationship and is getting over the loss of her grandmother who, apart from her brother, was all the family she had. She is not quick to trust Galen, but when she does, she feels like she should regret it. Galen is a super genius with an amazing family and support system. He’s the type of person that jumps into any situation to help as much as he can. He’s admired Sierra from afar and finally has his opportunity to make his move.
Sierra and Galen have a great connection and several things in common. I like that they are both WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) type of people. They jumped into bed rather quickly (it backfires on Galen). They were explosive, combustible, hot, on fire together!
There is a chunk of a few months that I would have liked to read about while they were experiencing it. It was described in a little detail during the story but I would have liked a little more detail. Overall, I enjoyed the story and the writing.
This is a great book that I did not want to put down. Galen and Sierra have a chemistry that leaps of page. I enjoyed getting to know them and follow along on their journey. There were plenty of steamy scenes, twists that kept me trying to guess what would happen next, and all sorts of emotions. Definitely something for everyone to enjoy.
Sierra and Galen was a great book. I thought this couple was great together. The chemistry was great and I could not put it down. Really enjoyed this book.
Sierra hasn't had it easy of late. Her grandmother passed away, then she was screwed over by a man that she thought was into her, so now she's on her way home to help her beast-in-law & brother with a pregnancy to get a new start. But fate has her spending the night with Dr. Galen Christensen, which is the hottest night of her life, but she can't get past the age difference. And of course, by morning, he's gone, so she's back on her way home. Months later, he's back, but Sierra's walls are back up, so she's friend zoned him. However, Galen isn't giving up, because he knows that she's the one for him. Keep Me Close was a story that I couldn't put down if my life depended on it. I fell in love with Galen from the get go, and while I loved Sierra, her push & pull had me ready to pull my hair out, so I wanted to shake her until her teeth rattled more than once. They had wicked hot chemistry that led to steamy sexy times that lit the sheets on fire. And that cast of secondaries were full of crazy good, and a few crazy bad, so yeah, they added a lot to the story. Obviously, there were twists that allowed me the excuse to drop some crazy f-bombs because I never saw some things coming, which added a serious angst vibe to the mix. So in conclusion, this was a great story by the talented Cynthia P. O'Neill that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
**Note, while I have this book shelved in the bdsm category, it is very light. It's more along the lines of Galen needing control and tying Sierra up for her pleasure.**
When I first started this book I was a bit annoyed with Sierra's character. She had such a big hang up over the six year age difference between her and Galen, you would think that she was in her 50's going for the young Galen. However, putting her obsession with age aside, Sierra's overall character would rub me the wrong way at times. I don't understand why, even after her brother admitted to having issues with his wife, she still would take the verbal venom that spewed from her mouth and wouldn't tell her brother...or maybe she did and he wouldn't believe her (I don't know!) I honestly think the saving grace, for me at least, for this story was Galen and his determination to prove to Sierra that she was his destiny and fate had thrown them in each other's paths for a reason. Throughout the story Galen made it his mission to show Sierra how great she was and even though she believed everyone in her life only left her, he had to prove that he was there to stay.
Of course I'm biased since I'm the author. But I will say this was the most challenging book for me to write. This is my second standalone novel. This is the first time I tried an unlikely romance with a sexy British doctor and a slightly older woman. There's so much commonality between them, it was exciting to write - having them discover new things about one another. Of course those who are familiar with my writing know I can't keep away from chaos and I definitely put quite a bit in. Hopefully I'll have you shocked by the antagonist. Fingers crossed. For those who loved the Need Series and current Titan Security Series, you may enjoy the references to various characters. But you don't need to read either to be able to read this book. I just didn't want to create all new characters if I could avoid it. Here's hoping you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing this one.
I wasn't sure about this one at first. I was thinking it was slow but I quickly realized that it wasn't really slow just filled with a lot of background that is very important for the story to move along. The characters are wonderfully written. You fall in love with the good ones and feel the hate for the not so nice ones. The emotions pour from the book as it pulls you in deeper. You just want to reach in and give them all hugs. Sierra and Galen are wonderful and I love the push & pull that goes on with them. At first I wasn't sure about Galen but he was easy to swoon over. Sierra was a strong female character that really made the story. I loved feeling as I was part of the little community that the author created as the story unfolded and I cannot wait for this world to expand with more stories of these characters as the come along.
Keep Me Close is a story about letting walls down, and seeing beyond the hurt. The author was able to take a storyline that could be played out and make it twist with a way that brought suspense and allures you to keep reading all while keeping the focus on love and happiness. The characters in this book were very emotional and raw. Sierra had hang ups from her past, more so than she ever realized. Throughout the book Galen is patient, loving and kind with Sierra. Always going above and beyond to ensure her dreams come true. He is a dominant alpha when needed, a caring, emotionally in tuned lover.~A Wild About Romance Review
Keep Me Close was a quick, easy read. I loved the characters and the story that brought them together. It had the perfect fairy tale love story between Sierra and Galen. They were a perfect match for the other with many things in common. This book has just the right amounts of sweet and spicy. I would love to see if Sierra's brother and Galen sister get a book of their own. I enjoyed how each chapter and the epilogue began with a quote. One of my favorite quotes from this book is,
“The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring.” - Oscar Wilde
I am wanting to read more by this author in the future.
