When Rebecca moves to a new city, the single mom's main goal is to make a stable home for her daughter. Now that they're away from the darkness of their past, she also hopes to explore her longstanding attraction to women.
The moment Mandy spots Rebecca at the gay bar, she wants her. That is, she wants to set her up with a friend. Mandy's taking a break from dating and plans to play matchmaker instead - but Rebecca is difficult to resist, especially when the sexy stranger enrolls her daughter in the preschool where Mandy teaches.
Can Mandy really set her crush up with someone else? Or will Rebecca convince her they'd be perfect together?
This author pronoun swaps and publishes the same book twice. SHAMEFUL!
Original review below:
I didn't buy this relationship at all. There was zero chemistry, and the long separation was ridiculous.
Rant 1: Rafe was a complete douche to Marshall, ending their relationship because he once trusted his ex and was wrong, so how can he possibly trust Marshall? Um ... HUH? Cause that makes no sense. My ex was a dick so by extension you are too even though you're nothing like my ex and have shown yourself to be caring, selfless, and sweet. The icing on the cake? Rafe never really apologized.
Rant 2: Abby was possibly the most unrealistic toddler of all time. At age 2, she couldn't walk by herself and spoke gibberish, but a month later she was speaking in full sentences and getting involved in adult relationships. She went from making da-da sounds to saying "Marshall" in the blink of an eye. Nope. That is not how childhood development works.
Rant 3: Unearned HEA. The men barely talk for a year, and then they're kissing and getting married. WHAT?
Sorry, darlings, I'm in a terribly grumpy mood. That's all I got.
2 stars. Obvious M/M conversion is obvious. H.L. Logan seems like a hit or complete and utter miss for me. This one, unfortunately, was a miss. Flat characters, predictable plot, crass language. I couldn't find a thing that I enjoyed in this read.
It had such potential but ended up just being aggravating. I get being caught unaware by your exs actions but to ditch the one you supposedly love and stay gone? Then say he needed that time to evolve just no
I am sooooo tempted to cut and paste Dani's review into this space because we are of one brain when it comes to this wholly unimpressive book. And also the fuckery that DarienMoya has uncovered about this author's m/m and f/f titles. But that would be plagiarism, so instead I'll just encourage you to read her review.
I liked the start of the book, it was funny, but then when the couple is starting something.... there is marshall and his stupid "one year without dates" that clearly he is not carring out... And then hundred of different excuses to put them appart.... tiresome.
My fav character of the book is Charly xD I hope he was the main character... He´s the only one who speaks with sense.
Marshall meets Rafe at a bar one night and it completely drunk. He makes a total ass out of himself, but it’s OK because he doesn’t think he will ever see Rafe again. Then Rafe walks into the daycare where Marshall is a teacher—OOPS. Now, while I liked that they had an easiness with each other, Marshall was so unprofessional. There were inappropriate comments, they were kissing in the school, constant texting during the day, and no where were the bosses. It was always just Marshall and one other teacher, yet it felt like it was bigger school. How no one else was ever there was weird. For someone who loved his job so much, you would think he would have a few boundaries at work. These two annoyed me as an overall couple, especially during the “angsty” part.
I'm voluntarily reviewing a free advance reader copy I received from the author.
This is an okay read. I like Marshal a great deal and for a while this was chugging along but it lacked a certain emotionial connection for me though I did appreciate the time this romance took.
It just felt a not on point on some of the choices of the characters and then a bit too much of a fantasy soultion when the story had been dealing in realities.
Harper Logan also writes f/f romance as HL Logan. Every book is double published to fit pairing with the only difference being names and pronouns and sex scenes.
Fascinating, fantastic, romantic, sweet and spicy. The characters are captivating, Mandy and Rebecca are perfect together, no doubt. I enjoyed it from the first page to the last, love this author, and I definitely recommend it.
Sometimes you just got to trust your heart! Marshall needed change. He had fallen too hard too quickly for his last couple of boyfriends and it never worked out so he decided one year! He would give himself one year without a man, to change his diet and to start going to the gym so he could improve his body image, but that didnt stop him trying to get his best friend Charly a date! So they went out for a few drinks. Of course Marshall stayed off the alcohol so he was very sober when he spots the best looking man he had ever seen. He was hot hot hot!!! But Marshall wasn't looking so he tried to set up Charly. But this guy kept looking at Marshall. Rafe needed a night out and a little fun. He had just gained full custody of his daughter after finding out she was being neglecting. They had broken up when he found out she was cheating on him with his best friend. It had destroyed him for a while but now he knew he was better off without her. And Abby was doing so much better with him. Rafe had been attracted to men before and he just knew he would be happier dating a man so he decided to get a babysitter and go out. He was immediately attracted to Marshall even tho he was trying his hardest to set him up with his friend that didnt look impressed either. And what would you know When Rafe went to drop Abby at her new preschool it was Marshall who was going to be one of her teachers!! Was the universe trying to tell him something??? What would happen when they spend more time together, when they both weren't looking for a boyfriend. This was a great book, it was a slow burn but when they do get together woohoo fireworks. I really liked Rafe and Marshall, their banter and texts were super hot. I hated to see them struggle and my heart went out to Marshall who looks like his has all the confidence in the world but really he struggles with his self confidence. But my heart melted at the ending. A really enjoyable book to read! Super excited to see what Harper has in store for us next!

Harper Logan really knows how to tell a story. Being a Single Father is difficult enough, but adding a few stressors in the mix can make fatherhood overwhelming. Moving to a new city, where he knew no one, managing a budget that included day long child care, and reasonably priced housing on a nice neighborhood to stroller around with his daughter. Finding friends could be difficult. And finally exploring his sexuality was daunting.
Rafe loved his two year old daughter more than life itself. She made his day, his life worth living. He would do anything to give her the life she deserved, especially after the rocky start he'd had with her brother. Co-parenting turns out to be a disaster. The guilt over the treatment his baby girl suffered is crippling.
Marshall was in the process of evolving. Making himself a better man, physically by going to the gym, and eating right. Mentally through reading nonfiction books. Emotionally by not dating & being celibate. With his best friend Chris's help he is determined not to fail. That was until he met the man of his dreams and nothing was any longer set in stone.
It takes a lot to be a Preschool teacher: an understanding of the developmental stages of infants to pre-Kindergarteners, credentials & license to run a daycare center. Reputation to attract parents and have them entrust their young children to complete strangers. Patience is needed in enormous amounts to not only deal with squalling, homesick, bitey, not potty trained, and otherwise demanding toddlers.
When a relationship begins between the Preschool teacher and the parent, it is fraught with pitfalls. And it seems they stumble into each other. This story has a happily ever after, but it takes some doing, including being too surprised to make it there.
Recommend: For those that enjoy the newly bi guy who falls in love with his child's teacher.
Blurb: Rafe recently was awarded custody for his young daughter; Abby. Now he has to figure out how to raise a daughter on his own; combined with a move to a new town and a new job. Marshall meets Rafe at a bar and is instantly struck by how hot the man is. However, he swore off dating for a year too work on himself. Unbeknownest to Marshall, Rafe's daughter is going to be attending the school where he works. This only allows these men too get closer and both are hesitant with all the changes that have occured in their life.
Opinion: The story itself was not bad. It was written fine, but I was not hooked. I was also very confused because there was some logistical things that didn't work for me. For one, Abby is two years old. This is way too long to be attending preschool. The school is also called "playschool" and it is open from 9AM - 5PM, so this is seemingly more of a daycare then a preschool. So, it was odd how they kept on saying she was going to preschool. Even from the blurb I equate a preschooler to be 4 years old as they go the year before they enter kindergarten. Second, I also found it odd when Marshall offered Rafe to watch Abby if he never needed time for himself. Rafe felt uncomfortable letting Marshall do this. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Abby is with Marshall all day at the playschool in his care, but outside of the school he can't watch her. Not to mention Rafe hired some random babysitter and he obviously watched Abby multiple times and even Jamie the other school aide watched Abby. It was just odd. I probably wouldn't recommend this book to anyone because I wasn't too impressed with it.

This is a sweet, romantic and entertaining. It's an insta love story and a second chance love story. Rafe moved to Rosebridge to start over fresh after taking custody of his daughter. And to explore his attraction to men. Marshall is the preschool teacher who had tried to set up his best friend Charly with Rafe. Even though Marshall thought was hot, totally hot, he'd vowed to evolve himself for a year and rid himself of his bad habits with men and get healthier. Charly saw how Marshall reacted to Rafe, so he refused to be set up. Rafe was interested, but felt that what Marshall was doing was important, so he didn't push. They decided to just hang around as friends, but the more time they spent together, the harder it was. They did finally give in, but then Rafe's past intruded. He thought he'd known his ex and his best friend, but he had been so wrong, and he reacted to that by breaking things off with Marshall. Marshall was hurt and angry, he thought he had changed his habits, but then doubted it. They're both nice guys who had gotten burned, and needed to learn to trust in themselves again. The story is full of angst, joy and laughs.
Rafe moves to Rosebridge with his daughter, Abby for a new start, and to get away from Abbys mother. When Raffe meets Marshall there is electricity between them. Rafe is only interested in raising his daughter at this time and would like to have some friends. Marshall is taking a year off of dating because he always seems to get attached to the wrong person. Marshall just happens to be Abby's preschool teacher so they end up spending some time together. The More time Rafe and Marshall spend together the closer they get. Rafe gets a call that Abby's mother has died and he needs to attend the funeral. When Rafe returns he is upset and does not want to have a relationship with anyone because he can not trust anyone. Rafe breaks up with Marshall. Will Rafe find the peace he needs to move on? Will Rafe find the love of another person he can trust? Will Marshall find the love he is looking for?

Rafe relocates with his two year old daughter. Escaping a dark past is all that's important for heir safety. Perhaps when things settle, he wants to take a second look at the long suppressed desire for men...maybe. First stop, a local bar.
Marshall already has his sights on Rafe almost immediately. Also recovering from poor choices in relationships, he finds it difficult to resist the charm of this man. As luck would have it, his daughter is enrolled in the local school. Convenience and fate?
About to lose a good thing, Marshall isn't sure of Rafe is what he wishes to jump in head first for. Rafe is the opposite. Both really needed to overcome a few obstacles before meeting in the middle.
A perfectly low angst read.

Another great read from Harper Logan! I really enjoy her stories, I know roughly what I'll be getting; romance, a little angst and a HEA I love the characters of Rafe and Marshall. Both strong themselves but work so well together. I really liked the way that things evolved between them, even in the later part of the book. Not a way you see relationships go very often and the time lapses worked well with it. Rafe's daughter, Abby, is completely adorable but it's a shame he didn't have any other support in town, even after a while. Whereas Marshall has Charly and Jamie, both supportive and great friends. I'd definitely recommend to fans of Harper Logan and of MM romance. I received an ARC from the author and am happily giving a review.
Rafe has moved to another town in order to find a new life for his daughter and himself. Marshall is a preschool teacher who meets Rafe at a club and wants him for his friend...himself really. meeting again at the preschool, they gradually start a relationship with Rafe having difficulty admitting he is gay and Marshall's refusal to give up his year long sabbatical from sex and relationships. At times it seemed that the wheels of this story was grinding in order to keep a controversy going between the two men to keep the story going. Rafe even leaves Marshall at one point in a cruel fashion. There is definitely an HEA ending and it certainly was a good story...just it seemed a lot of work at times to keep the story going. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
This definitely isn’t the easiest love story ever written. Boy meets boy. Boy thinks friendship will be all he can give other boy. After a short stint as friends they decided to start a relationship. But after tragedy strikes boy thinks he might fr wrong about everything including letting other boy into his and his daughters life. This is definitely not the most easy going relationship. They have to fight tooth and nail to finally get there happy ending. I think the only thing I didn’t like about this book was a wanted a bit more at the end. But that being said it was still a pretty solid book and I’m excited to read more from this author

I totally enjoyed Baby Love. Marshall and Rafe are both in their early twenties and some of their choices definitely make sense for their age, because I shook my head a few times, but without tension, the story wouldn’t have been as interesting. I like that Marshall really did stick to his personal improvement plan for himself and no one else. I felt bad for Rafe and his very difficult situation where he questioned himself about everything. I like that the two figured out how to go forward. It was a sweet, cute romance and I would recommend this book.
This was a great read! Marshall and Rafe were great characters - especially Marshall. I loved the flirty banter between the two of them, especially when they were only ‘friends’. I couldn’t put the book down! I read it all in one sitting - took me about two hours so a nice quick and easy read! It could be classified as cliche and formulaic but it was written in such a way it was as if reading it for the first time. This was only my second novel by Harper Logan but I’ll definitely be adding the rest of her works to my TBR pile.
The story was well written. It had a nice steady pace to keep the story moving along. The characters were likable. Rafe and Marshall had great chemistry. The author pulled at a couple emotion through out the story. May it be you being mad at them, or crying along with Marshall, or smiling from happy moments. I was pulled into the story and could not stop reading till the end. Loved the story and hope to read more from the author.
Rafe & Marshall have an entertaining and fun first meeting at a bar. Marshall, who is not long into a year long non dating stint, finds himself crazy attracted to Rafe, who is also not too interested in dating and concentrating on raising his daughter. I enjoyed their banter & texts as they got to know each other, although some of their juvenile behaviour later in the book got a little frustrating for me.
Pretty good book but boy it also annoyed me. Rafe was such a jerk, I’m not sure he’s really redeemable. Or maybe it just feels that way because I prefer my characters to be super sweet. And the evolution, and pushing Rafe off on Charly continually got my goat too. I like a hard fought battle for love, so we have a winner there. For all my annoyance I read the book twice as I did really like it. It’s always a good thing when an author can elicit emotions from you.
A single parent decides to explore her feelings toward the opposite sex.
A young mother meets another young woman at the a local gay bar. The young woman is there with her childhood friend. The young mother later meets the young woman the next day at her daughter 's daycare. Through at agony of misguided thinking of the mother she almost failed getting to enjoy the benefits of another woman.
Well written with well developed characters, this book explores a single mother's first lesbian relationship. Both women are packing their own baggage, which takes its toll on the relationship. The pain reaches up from the pages and the angst is palpable. This book belongs on your must read list.
Marshall is determine to to take care of himself but he also promised himself he wouldn't date for a year so he could stop making the same mistakes. Rafe moved to Rosebridge with his daughter to get away from his past and start over. Marshall and Rafe meet and feel the attraction but Rafe has trust issues and Marshall breaks his promise to himself. I really enjoyed this book.
This lacked something now and then but I did like the slow romance between Marshall and Rafe, they were nice, gentle mc's, until 70% that is, then it all went to pot. I HATE what Rafe did, and I HATE the long long period that went by, just didn't jive for me, and I still cannot figure out exactly why he did it.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. This book was absolutely amazing! Harper Logan really out does it with every book. I loved the emotional roller coaster and of course add in an adorable child and I’m sold! Thank you for allowing me to read your work!
As with all of H.L. Logan's stories based in Rosebridge, there's a certain inherent sweetness to this tale about two women who fall in love with each other while both are not wanting to date anyone. This one is just a bit extra sweet.
