The Darkness
Book two of The Watcher series finds Ben, Valentina, and Jaime trying to survive in a world that has become a darkened shell of its former glory. They are joined by Ben's sister Lottie as they desperately try to flee those who wish to destroy any chance of the cure that only Valentina can provide. With everyone after them, will they be able to stay one step ahead?

The dark, abandoned city looms before them; quiet and otherworldly. No sounds of traffic or overhead aircraft break the inky stillness surrounding them. No sirens and flashing lights disturb the calm serenity of the city streets. There is only silence. “I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds,” he quotes quietly as he surveys the wreckage laid out in front of them. “Our reality is no longer a reality. It’s a dream we won’t wake from. What remains of humanity has been stripped down to its most basic level. They’re wallowing in the mud, nipping at each other’s ankles, communicating in growls and grunts.”
She hums in acknowledgment. “Pretty isn’t it?”
He turns to her with a wicked smirk. “Darkness suits you, kid.”
