When a retired assassin decides to go looking for love, he decides to trust the pros at a dating service and ends up finding a Deadly Match.
Almost dying puts some things in perspective for Reaper.
One, he is getting too old to be dodging bullets.
Two, who will mourn him when he is gone?
And three, he needs a legacy to inherit his collection of hockey cards.
Maybe it’s time to think of settling down, problem is, exactly where does a retired assassin meet a lady?
Charming Reaper Montgomery—the first--turns to a dating service to solve his problem, and finds himself intrigued by the owner, especially when his first date with her ends with bullets flying.
Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .
I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.
Bad Boys Inc book 3. Can be read as a stand-alone romance. A retired assassin looking for love doesn’t have much success from the dating agency until he meets the owner. Reaper is intrigued by Annique and he’s sure she hiding something. He has the skills to investigate and get to know her better at the same time. A win-win for him.
Twists and amusing dialogue. Dark professional topic but surface level without much spilled blood. Reaper and Annique spark off each other and the action is fast and suspenseful.
“She lied to him. She was not fine.” Excerpt: “Now he stood in front of her door, an assassin who was just a man, in front of a door, knocking for a woman who wouldn’t answer.” Excerpt from Deadly Match by Eve Langlais
Deadly Match is the third book in the Bad Boy Inc. series, but can be read as a standalone. I have not read the others in this series and didn't feel lost in the story at all. This story is about Reaper, an assassin who is toying with the idea of settling down after a near death experience, and Annique, the woman he employs to set him up with someone. What happens after that is unexpected for both of them.
This was fun, light, and a great way to read away an afternoon. Sure, it was silly, and sometimes didn't make sense, but in Eve's usual fashion, she wrote two fun characters and put them into some hilarious positions. This did have a little darker feel to it, but it never waded too far into that territory in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to checking out more of this series.
This one was just... ok. Fine, but not that interesting. He was pushy, she was busy being scared a lot (ok, rightfully so), and it was obvious who the shooter was going to turn out to be.
This was a fun book that didn't take long to read. Lots of LOL moments. I loved Reaper and Annique. They were perfect together. I'm looking forward to the next book.
Deadly Match is a short, sweet, fun read that kept me flipping pages as fast as I could. Charming “Reaper” Montgomery is an assassin who is in his early forties. Getting shot makes him think of slowing down and finding someone to come home to. The dating service sends him one woman after another but none of them works for him but the moment he meets the feisty owner Annique Darlington he is smitten. The only problem is she comes with baggage and isn’t interested. Reaper has a challenge on his hands but he needs to keep them both alive so he can convince her to be his. I love this quirky series. An older couple in a fun romp. Not your everyday romance.
DEADLY MATCH is book 3 in the Bad Boy Inc series by Eve Langlais. I purchased and listened to the audio version performed by Logan McAllister.
MY RATING GUIDE: 3 to3.5 Stars. This is a quick, very light, snarky read. 1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= This was okay/cute; 3.5= I enjoyed it; 4= I liked it a lot; 5= I Loved it, it was great! (I seldom give 5 Stars).
C Reaper Montgomery, 47, is an undercover operative for Bad Boy Inc. Bad Boys Inc accepts contracts dealing in the shadier aspects of life, avoiding jobs involving innocent women or children. When Reaper is severely injured on his last job, he begins reassessing various aspects of his life particularly his romantic interests. He locates a dating service which guarantees promising matches (not hook-ups) and registers. While describing himself, he claims to be a successful real estate agent which has actually been his cover story.
Anique, 41, is the founder of a successful matching service. When an affluent and handsome client fails to find a match among her female clients, Anique decides to meet him in person and attempt to assess the main difficulty. Little does Antique know that her personal interest in Reaper’s match will incredibly alter her life.
Comments ~ 1) I purchased DEADLY MATCH as a decompress “escape” read. I was looking for something slightly crazy and light to take me away from reality for awhile. DM delivered. I snickered and raised my eyebrows occasionally as I listened. 2) DM is basically an unrealistic, snarky read, highly improbable in parts. I recommend it only to readers looking for such a read. Readers hoping to find a realistic thriller novel will be disappointed. 3) Readers who don’t mind strong language and a bit of sexy times as well as murder and mayhem with tongue-in-cheek humor (while the MC character searches for “that special someone”) may enjoy DM. 4) DEADLY MATCH is bk #3 in the Bad Boys Inc series and can be read as a standalone title. I purchased the audio on a Sale; it wasn’t my favorite book by Langalais but it entertained me for a few hours. (I am glad I didn’t pay full audio price for this one). 5) The KILLER MOMS titles by Eve Langlais, bks #1-4, are similar in style - “crazy and outrageous “escape” reads.” I enjoyed a few of those more. 6) DM is performed by Logan McAlliister, who does a pretty good job with the farce setting.
READER CAUTION ~ Not recommended to YA readers or those who prefer Clean fiction. PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language is used frequently. VIOLENCE - Yes. Tongue-in-cheek humor with violence. SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. Detailed intimate scenes occur on several occasions.
This series keeps getting better! Charming Reaper Montgomery’s occupation is catching up with him – not the real estate agent one – and he’s starting to feel his age. After a mission goes terribly wrong, he has a lot of time to think about how nice it would be to have someone waiting at home for him. Someone to love him and spend time with him. But where is an assassin to go to meet eligible singles? Why not a dating service!
Annique Darlington runs Secret Match, a very successful matchmaking service. After a lot of dates with all different kinds of women, she just can’t seem to hook Reaper up successfully. So she decides to take matters into her own hands, and give him the benefit of her personal matchmaking talent. She is surprisingly good at finding perfect matches for others, despite her own horrific dating past. It just seems inevitable that the unmatchable man will match with the unwilling-to-be-matched woman.
Reaper has his work cut out for him in convincing Annie that she can take a chance on him. She is terrified of something, but won’t open up to him. All of his queries turn up dead ends. Who is this woman? What is she afraid of? And where can he find it so he can kill it for her?
A great addition to the Bad Boy Inc. series! I’ve loved all three books. Each one can stand alone without any problem. I do recommend reading them all in order so you get introduced to the crew members, but it is not essential. Full of humor, action, danger, and love – this book also shows that love has no age limit!
A semi retired assassin looking for love hires a match making service to help in his search for love. What he doesn’t bet on is the hot single owner who peaks his interest more than anyone has before.
A cynical bad boy assassin, finds an instinct to protect with a hot single lady in trouble. Annie and Reaper are a great couple, Annie is so strong emotionally and mentally, she’s been through hell and she’s still ready to do what she thinks needs to be done. Reaper is the bad boy we all want to tame, and Annique is the lucky lady he’s set his sights on.
I really enjoyed these two and this book. It was action packed right from the get go, like literally the first words of the book are action packed and involve a shooting. Another great story by Eve Langlais.
Wow it grabs your listeners ears by the first sentence. This story has you guessing what will happen till the end of the audio This is book 3 will need to grab the other 2. Hero and Heroine are in the same business. Wink wink taking care of nasty business. Reaper the hero gets a rude awakening when after a hit he gets hit on and bleeds almost to death. He then decides he needs a happy ending of his own but how do you go about it. Do you look for a female hit an in a dating site. Bow shoots at him. Grab it and find out. Does he find a mate. Meanwhile some is after his female counterpart. Is it the same person after both of them. Do you take care of the other person
Logan was great. He hit this narrator part right on He brought the listen to live
This is the third in the bad boy inc series. It's a standalone. I haven't read the others, and had no problems. I enjoyed this read. It spent a lot of time in Reaper's head and him dealing with his issues. He seems so grow in this book. I really like his character. Annie is a different story. For a adult woman on the run she is really naive and whiney. I wish she was a bit stronger or had more growth. There is a HEA, so no cliffhanger. Overall a good story. The narrator did a good job, but could have read a little faster and engaged more in the beginning. I haven't listened to this narrator before. He did a good job of having a different tone for different characters, which can be hard for narrators that have a deeper voice. A solid four star read.
DEADLY MATCH is the third in Eve Langlais’s Bad Boy Inc series. Professional assassin CR Montgomery comes to a realization that his life is missing something, and also that he is perhaps more ready to retire or at least pull back from putting all his energy into his work…. To that end, he concludes that he might be ready to invest some effort into finding someone to come home to…
Professional matchmaker Annique Darlington is keeping a secret that catches up to her as she’s helping the all too appealing Charming Reaper find his perfect match…
Love Eve Langlais’s continued balance of humor and genuine emotion works well for me, and Reaper and Annie make an enticing couple…
Annique Darlington is the owner of the service. She is running from someone. She would have this time if it weren't for Reaper. Annique and Reaper's chemistry is Hot, Hot, Hot! However, they have I will take care of you, I need to run method for most of the book that is a bit annoying. Though the author did a good job putting me their shoes and bringing connecting me with the characters.
The highlight of the book was the climax. And what a Climax! The only this I got to say is it was worth the back and forth of the characters. Totally Worth It.
This story is sooo good. It had everything in it that I love from this author. Plenty of humor and hot bed action as well. And action like hand to hand fighting and actual gun fights. The lead male role was drool worthy. I am actually sighing right now. I loved that he was complex and has a sweet side only shown to the female lead. I loved that the female lead had sass. She wasn't a pushover and had her own opinions. She had her own voice and used it. I loved discovering the sister's secret too. It was a doozy.
Oh these sexy assassins and fancy being called ‘Charming Reaper’ by your parents even if they are family names.
Bad Boy Inc rocks as do its employees - they are trained to be assassins and spies but not by a Govt and therefore they are not bound by any code of ethics - unless it is their own. But they don’t kill children.
Love it when the man is the one looking for love! Love it even more when he finds it, but has to convince a very stubborn women, she is the one for him. Reaper was awesome, partially because, once he thought of something, he would very quickly convince himself it was the right things for him. His lady? She took a bit more convincing, and even then, wasn’t sold on the idea completely. These two did a very entertaining dance around each other, all the while, they are in danger from, neither quite know!
I really liked the H. Upper 40s not a man h, looking to settle, funny. h on the run, hiding from the bad guy. I loved when these two finally got together. Twist at the end. I really really wish we could have seen more of the two of them together in a relationship.
4.5 stars... so far, the couple were better than the 2 previous books! Great story, nice twist of fate, too. Love that fact, the heroine was a more mature women with curves and the hero preferred it that way :D. Can't wait for the next book. And, for Jazzy's storyline, too!
It was ok. Narrator was so so. It was if i was listening to john Wayne narrate. That was my constant thought as i was listening. The first book was so much more.
