***This series was re-edited and reformatted in 2020 for a better reading experience.***

Most consider life to be the people you know and the choices you make, but for Maddison Miller life is the ongoing, uncontrollable force that happens all around her. If she had it her way, life would look more like the perfect one she has planned in her head. The recent years fresh out of college haven’t gone anything like she envisioned. In fact, nothing has. Not her love life, her career, her relationships, leaving her with some serious trust issues and too much time spent alone. So when her co-worker invites her to a coffee house for an open mic night, she convinces herself to go. Because although she’d rather stay home where it’s safe, she’s come to realize that if there is any hope for even a shadow of her picture-perfect future to come to pass, she is going to have to start making some changes even if it means getting hurt. Again. And sometimes, as Maddison is soon to discover, the best life is actually what happens after all of your plans have come crashing down. However, choosing to let go and actually doing so is the constant struggle she faces. But just when she thinks she’s back on the right path to achieving her optimum goals, life comes along and once again scatters her Mental Notes.

Elle (Leslie) Ann Brown is an Inspirational Romance writer residing in the great state of Texas--though she doesn't own a horse, cowboy gear, or listen to country music--who loves to love. She deeply loves her husband of twenty years, her four children, and her friends. She also loves to sing, play bass guitar & piano, lattes any time of the day, sweets and more sweets, summer nights, laughing until she cries, and food with more calories than the daily suggested limit.

Though she enjoyed writing through school and online blogs in short form, Elle didn't discover her love of reading until her early thirties. Since 2018, she has released six full-length novels, a novella, and two short stories. Though the exact genres may vary, the overall arc of her writing is sweet love stories wrapped in inspirational fiction.

**A note about my reviews. Once a cheerleader, always a cheerleader. I post reviews primarily to celebrate other authors and their accomplishments. As an author, I know how much work it takes to write a book and then do even more work to get it into readers’ hands. Because of this, I will rarely rate anything less than a 4-star. If you are looking for detailed reviews, you won’t find them from me, but don’t worry: they are all over the place from others. On behalf of authors everywhere, thank you for taking the time to review. It helps us more than you know!

If you're looking for a book to sit back and forget about your life, this is your ticket.

This review is bias because Elle is a writer friend of mine but this is a sweet story about a girl who questions her every move and dreams of her happily ever after. I think this type of protagonist represents many young women out there.

I loved tiny things about this book such as the Mental Notes that Maddison uses to remembers to do things & how candy sweet the main man Aaron is. I also enjoyed how Maddison, with the help of Aaron recaptures her identity back after a hard breakup.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and will certainly read more!
I finished book one, and immediately started the second book.
It took me just a few pages to get into the first person narrative, but overall I feel in lends to going on Maddison’s journey with her. By the end of the book you are feeling everything that Maddison is feeling.
In the infamous words of Larry the Cucumber - “I laughed, I cried, it moved me Bob”!

Hard to put into words. Although I knew something was coming, nothing prepared me for the way the book ended. Talk about heart breaking! Straight into the next book to see what happens....

LOVE THIS BOOK! I have read it twice now, and even though I knew exactly what was going to happen the second time around, I still bawled like a baby. I relate to Maddison’s character so much, which, I think is why I find myself re-reading the series and no doubt will reread it several more times throughout my life.
I encourage all readers, DO NOT STOP HERE! I promise Maddison’s story is one of redemption that you cannot help but love even more.

AMAZING!

Made me giggle like a school girl, made my heart melt, made me smile, made me laugh, made me cry, and made me angry and wish I could physically throw a tomato. BUT, I’m happy to have finished it and excited to see how Maddison will lean on the Lord to pull her out of this slump.
