Mike Carey was born in Liverpool in 1959. He worked as a teacher for fifteen years, before starting to write comics. When he started to receive regular commissions from DC Comics, he gave up the day job.

Since then, he has worked for both DC and Marvel Comics, writing storylines for some of the world's most iconic characters, including X-MEN, FANTASTIC FOUR, LUCIFER and HELLBLAZER. His original screenplay FROST FLOWERS is currently being filmed. Mike has also adapted Neil Gaiman's acclaimed NEVERWHERE into comics.

Somehow, Mike finds time amongst all of this to live with his wife and children in North London. You can read his blog at www.mikecarey.net.

The more this goes, the less I'm convinced this will be completed in only six issues. The main story probably will, but there's so much going on in this universe!! It's a real frustration to think of all the answers we're never gonna get. Here's hoping for more stories set in this world!

Demini's gentleness towards Moth is quite surprising. He follows the faith and the social rules to the point of personally whipping his only daughter, but he takes a mere slave to the capital so he can learn politics from the source and gives him a sword? I wonder if it's the house's magic that's pushing him in that direction, or if he has higher goals regarding Moth. Perhaps he's only looking into a replacement for Extat (dude failed to protect his master's family twice already), but he's definitely too tolerant of Moth's insolence to not be hiding something.

The Highest House, Mike Carey, Peter Gross.
A graphic novel that infuses all the elements that has made 'Game of Thrones' (A Song of Ice and Fire) a mammoth success. ****

#4 - Betrayal like in 'Dune' or 'Game of Thrones', "This house is ours. If our BLOOD should water any ground, let it be thus."

Superb. This just oozes quality.
Betrayals and, finally, magic! Also find out why Lace has a wooden foot. Moth makes an unexpected deal and improves his station even more.
Wonder what Mervyn Peake would think....

Like I said before, this series is part of large epic fantasy tapestry but each individual issue a satisfying complete chapter of its own. Mike Carey and Peter Gross are kicking ass. My favorite issue so far.
