Well, it was clear from the start that this would happen but it was well executed. Hopefully, the second arc isn't too long to come otherwise I'll be the one drifting away because of all the theories I have about the other characters' motives. Speaking of which, I'm pretty sure Nnende didn't tell Pyp all the truth. Cyrenic's last vision while drifting proves that it was at least a part of the truth, but her reaction was way too shocked for a mere "there's a pile of bones, but I don't know if it's good or bad news". She knows something bad is coming, or at the very least something important. And she thought it better not to inform Pyp, which means she either has some scheming of her own going on, or she thought it was the best way to protect her from her destiny. Whatever it is, I think Pyppenia should be as wary of her as she is of everyone else. They're all players in this world's tense politics.
In any case, this was an excellent first arc, and I can't wait for the second one.
I enjoyed this issue, but not nearly as much as last month’s. The pace was just much slower for me, once again. But there were several good developments this issue - and by “good” I really mean interesting and potentially leading up to outcomes PopppyxCyrenic fans (like myself) are hoping for. That being said, hopes should be tempered with a grain of salt because everyone’s motives are muddled and we really won’t know what’s what until September 2018 when Issue 7 comes out. Which leaves is plenty of time to reread everything and try to catch anymore clues we may have missed along the way.
I especially liked Rellen’s tiny role in this issue, and how she was depicted as now being firmly on Team Poppy - from my reading at least. For me it’s been really pleasant to see her personal arc and growth in the story.
Of course, my usual comments regarding the gorgeous design and detail of del Duca’s artwork remain. Sleepless is always a treat for the eyes. Looking forward to next issue and the start of arc two!
