This books is OK (for the OK-rating goodreads requires only two stars though). It's a short, introductory book for anyone to start a trading business based on algorithmic trading. It includes a good pros-and-cons analysis of using the automated trading systems, what they are all about, the testing proces and its pitfalls, as well as an overview of the most popular trading platforms. Although I am currently using MT4, TradeStation seems to be the preferred platform, so I will keep that in mind and maybe I will expand into or make a transition to this platform (and learn the EasyLanguage) in the future as well. However, until then I'm going to continue learning the MQL language and start the testing process.

An interesting intro to algo trading. I’ve recently started my algo trading journey and I found myself already following Kevin’s approach in several ways.
Once thing to note is the personality test, I actually failed the test but I’m still determined to become a pro through learning, I guess, on top of the potential financial incentives of trading, character building and acquiring skills are also very important for me

Good guidebook for beginners. Covers the basic knowledge for someone familiar with trading to enter the world of algo trading. Although the author uses one platform, he mentions others and suggests training on the one the trader chooses. He also encourages research to discover if the method suits the trader's personality.

Intro is not an understatement

I like the book. I like the writing style. I've been a stock broker for 20 years and it came across to me as basic. But if you've not had the background of being a trader or a broker, then this will be a great place to start.

Missing more examples

For beginners, this is good but you can search tradestation easy language introduction on YouTube and find all the information you need. It could be better if it has some more examples.

Great Intro to Algo Trading

Very realistic advice as he lists the exact same problems I ran into when first starting algo trading. I'd highly recommend this book for new algo traders.

Intro book to algo trading, as advertised. Too shallow and short. I would definitely go for Kevin's other book on algorithmic trading. It offers much more value, even if you are just a beginner.

Waste of time to read

It is too common sense. Not worth to read at all. Not teaching any algo trading techniques or skills at all.

Intriguing, but the title doesn't deliver. Simply answers why mechanical trading is better.
