Flawed Liberation: Socialism & Feminism

"Superbly researched & generally well written, this work complements nicely the recent book, Women & American Socialism, 1870-1920, by Mari Jo Buhle. Illustrations, bibliographic essay, detailed index & an appendix, "Women & the Social Problem," by socialist May Wood Simons, further enhance this volume. Recommended for four-year college & university libraries."

This is a collection of essays about the role of women in the American socialist movement edited by emerita professor S.M. Miller. In our own SPUSA this matter was of vital concern, the party dealing with the problem by provisionally requiring that half of all officers and delegates to national conventions be female--a common method of affirmative action successfully applied by many European socialist organizations.
