The story is interesting enough to want to read the next book. The characters are great. I just don't like the writing style. It kind of reminds me of a play or movie script.
2.75 stars - A good premise, but the plot meandered and character motivation was a bit lacklustre. Didn’t feel like a full story, but not interesting enough to make me want to read the sequels
This book is a promising comical urban fantasy with romantic elements. The prince of a new crossbreed of vampire and dragon meets a beautiful school teacher when she inadvertently interrupts a murder. The light and entertaining story made me laugh in parts. The heroine engages in humorous exchanges with her roommate. I needed that after reading the dystopian I finished the day before. More
Interesting twist on vampire and dragon lore, although Adam is both. Sarah is a teacher who comes across something she shouldn’t, Adam jumps in to save her and drags her into his world, but is seriously hurt as a result. What happens from there would seem destined but is fate working with them or against them??? Interesting read, and plot. The characters are good, some grammatical errors, nothing too bad. The story didn’t really grip me, I kept waiting for it to get going, and considering Adam is both Vampire and dragon, he comes across a bit weak throughout the book, until the end. Sarah is very understanding of the supernatural and a bit eager. Lots of angst, some fun banter, overall an interesting read, which will need to continue as this is a series.
First, I wouldn't consider this a romance. If anything, it was more a tepid flirtation. From the introduction, I was expecting passion and danger. what I got was two main characters with arrested development. In other words, both Adam and Sarah behave with shocking immaturity. He was in denial that he cared for her and she behaved like a teenager. It was Exhausting. Then too, I had trouble with the world building. The difference in this particular vampire incarnation was that Adam and his sister were both dragons and vampire. The rest of the mythos was pretty worn. I am tired of the whole vampires are evil thing and you can damage them by throwing holy water on them. Were it that easy to rid ourselves of evil. At any rate, I didn't find the characters fleshed out and the writing itself was a bit amateurish. It had such possibilities but the execution was faulty. Adam was unformed and the situation with Maeve was confusing. Did she have some sort of relationship with Adam and was she keeping something from him? Then there was Sarah who acted too dumb to live. I mean, the guy she likes is a blood dragon so--surprise the dude turns into a dragon and she's surprised. And last but most certainly least, there was Jenny whose sole purpose seemed to be to be bad comic relief. She was a throw away character, not necessary to the plot and not germaine to the action. I will not continue this series because I don't care what happens to any of them. They were tiresome.
I don't normally read romance, so this book might appeal to others more. I didn't find it very interesting. The book really needs editing! Mistakes slowed the pace for me. The character development was good, the settings okay too. The author makes changes to the vampire and dragon basics that I found annoying, though others might not care. The witch element seemed to be stuck in to facilitate moving the characters about quickly. I found the ending chopped off. Books are supposed to have a beginning and an end tying up threads. This ending cut off without resolutions just to draw in readers to the next book in the series. Overall, it's okay, but I won't read more.
This book has close to zero romance in it. It’s all world development and sexual tension and build up. That doesn’t mean this book isn’t good. I thought it was great, actually. This story is suspenseful, and packed full of action. It leaves you with equally as many questions and it does answers. The side characters are fantastic, and the mains are exactly what you want to read about. The ending hangs you off a cliff, and makes you really want to to read on. It sneaky, but I’ll bite, because I’m desperate to see where these characters go next.
I loved the storyline with the mixture of paranormal beings. As a lover of the paranormal, especially vampires and werewolves, I was drawn to read this book because of the promise of vampires. I wasn't sure if I'd be into the dragon idea, since I hadn't read any dragon shifter stories, however I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the mix of vampire/Dragon. Great read in my opinion.
First in a series. This story continues in the next book.
I like Sarah. She is brave, as she discovers Adam and his world of vampires, dragons and witches. Adam is one of two Blood Dragons. Together they must face the Saints, humans who wants to destroy vampires. Adam wants to protect Sarah from his dangerous world. She is determined to remain in it. I like how Sarah befriends Adam's teenaged sister.
This was a short and interesting read. I loved the idea of vampire/dragon. I even enjoyed throwing the human in the mix as part of the union, but I didn’t really feel the connection between them even though it showed Adam has the sense of needing to protect Sarah, and she was clearly attracted to him. Definitely will read more from this author.
I really enjoyed this first book of the series! A whole new style of dragons and vampires & a mix of the two! Sarah & Adams story Moves along very quickly, with a lot of unexpected twists and turns and a whole a lot of fun! Adam’s sister and their cousin add to the mix along with their very good friend who’s a Witch! I see great things coming in this series & am off to find #2!
Promising but editing issues destroyed the pacing and understanding for me. Several times, I had to back up and reread. The romance, as written, was never felt. The characters were a little underdeveloped and didn't garner any real emotion in me. Can't really recommend as is but a good editing would help
My first book from Mac Lynn and boy it won't be the last!
I have to get the rest of the books. I read too fast. I loved the characters. I liked the way the supernaturals were portrayed. Very interesting. Buy it you love it!
Not what I expected, but totally worth every moment. I can't wait to read more in this series. I expected the usual shifter romance, but the way the story unfolded was exceptional...a different perspective which I thoroughly enjoyed.
This book was interesting and not what i was expecting. We meet some interesting people and a different take on vampires and shifters. I cant wait to see what will happen with theses 6 next.
I enjoyed the story. I am interested in reading the rest of the series. However, I am frustrated by the poor editing work. Several errors and misspellings made it difficult to concentrate on the sentences at times.
Hummmmm and giggles love everything about this book excitement in page turn. Trusting yourself to be able to get help in a situation. Great amazing work and fun can't wait to read next book
The beginning was slow to grab my attention. Once I got into the meat of the story I was hooked. The characters and their story line within the book was well written. I am curious to see where the rest of the story goes.
This would be a good story: good premise and not bad story overall, but reads like an unedited first draft which made it difficult for me. I will likely not read more even though I was intrigued by some characters and subplots.
Normally, I am a fan of Mac Flynn’s work but this one leaves me cold. The story is too involved with many elements not yet revealed. Additionally, it is in need of an editor or proof reader. First book of 6.
Book was fabulous ,I love vampire books and this one was great, loved the romantic relationship with the two main characters ,would defo recommend this book
This was a free read. Although I enjoyed it there was to much going on ,I liked Sarah the human who was saved by Adam a vampire/ dragon. Will have to read the next to find out more.
