Cleona Rowan lives a straightforward life working double shifts at Sam’s Diner, feeding strangers passing through, in order to take care of her ailing mother as Parkinson’s steals her a piece at a time. She doesn’t have the luxury of indulging in fantasies, especially when they all center around one tall, muscular, motorcycle-loving man.
And her landlord.
Leander Braden, bike enthusiast, invested all the money he’d earned over the years restoring old Harleys into a quaint mobile home community tucked behind Sam’s Diner. All he wants is to remain comfortable in his anonymity…and maybe a few hot nights with the object of his most recent obsession, Cleona. If only he could resist the urge to fall head over heels in love with her without guaranteeing he would break her heart.
With neither Cleona nor Leander willing to make the first move, circumstance forces them to step into their destinies and seek out pasts they’d long thought buried. Will their reluctance to become who they’re destined to be and their headstrong desire to exert control over their mutual realities cost them precious time in the looming battle against hostile evil?
***This is a former Kindle Worlds novella. It is also a cliffhanger of sorts. While the romance resolves, there is an overall ARC spanning the entire four novellas.
USA Today Bestselling author Casey Hagen pens her stories from the salty air of Kennebunk, Maine. She's the author of over 30 books that would make your mama raise her eyebrows if she caught you reading them!
Captivating Her Warlock is the second book in the Wolves and Warlocks series, which should be read in order. Cleona works at a nearby diner, helping take care of her mother, and trying to avoid her feelings towards her landlord, Leander, when her so claimed sister bursts into her life. With a new legacy she must face, Cleona needs to figure out the truth of her past and face Leander. Will they form their bond and accept their fate before danger comes knocking on her door?
This series is getting more exciting! I loved that Cleona and Leander have a lot to face, in their lives and with each other. There’s new mysteries, more danger, lots of passion, and I loved that neither Cleona nor Leander knew about the legacies that they grew from and must face. Cleona is so loving and loyal, definitely one to roll with the punches that life throws her way, and I loved that she faced challenges head on. Leander was a little more hesitant to look into his past, but I loved the protectiveness he felt towards Cleona and her mother, even before they were thrust together. As mentioned before, there were some new information revealed that offered more questions than answered, and I’m so excited to keep reading in this series and see what will happen with the next sister and watch how they all will band together!
A short and entertaining paranormal read by Ms. Casey. Leander Braden is very interested in Cleona Rowan, the waitress who works at Sam’s Diner. Leander stops in daily and has made his interest in her evident, but Cleona has other things on her mind…like taking care of her mother and paying the bills. Leander is also her landlord and makes sure that she and her mother, who has Parkinson’s, are well. There are some unexpected paranormal events that will invade Cleona’s life as she and Leander will meet Cleona’s sister…a sister she knew nothing about! This is the second book in the Kindle Worlds, Wolves and Warlocks series about four sisters, who must find each other and along with their mates, fight the evil that enters their lives. If you are not sure about paranormal romance stories, please try this series as the paranormal elements are there but they add to, not detract from, the story line. You can read this second book without having read the first one (although I always recommend reading the first book of a series) as Ms. Casey provides enough background so you will not feel lost. I have read many of Ms. Casey’s books and she has become one of my favorite authors. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to give an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Cleona and Leander have been dancing around each other for a month but Cleona is holding back. After seeing Maeve and Orion in the restaurant where she works and being told what their shared history is, Cleona embraces what she is and goes to claim her warlock. Leander is untrained and proves to be a poor match for Belen when he possesses Cleona's adoptive mother. However Cleona saves him with help from Maeve and Orion. Reanne provides a clue with the name of the man who arranged for her to adopt Cleona. It was Leander's dad, Mylas, who he just found out what his name was thanks to Cleona finding it in his mother's things. Now it is the second time Belen lost and they are going to find the third sister. An interesting note is besides all sisters being alpha, Cleona is the carrier of memories for The Tetrad.
Cleona notices people watching her. She works at a diner. Then she burns her hand and her boss sends her home. Leander has bought some property and is the landline for Cleona. He goes to the diner every day to see her. On her 25th birthday, she meets Mauve and finds out some interesting things. She is a Wolf shifter and has to find her mate. He has to be a warlock. Leander finally finds out he is a warlock. Will Cleona and Leander figure out they are destined to be together? Will Cleona accept her new destiny?
I enjoyed the story for what it was, even though I want more of a story. It just seemed like a very rushed story that didn't give enough details. I wanted more information about how and why they ended up here.
