I just love the way these stories are put together in box sets , they give you something to really get your teeth into . All awesome books in their own right, this collection features some iconic characters and and Battles , Hero’s and heroine’s looking for their HEA’s .
I happily snagged this book off kindle unlimited because I adore ladies in distress and like the writer's work and was broke.
I was not disappointed.
This took longer to read than it normally would have because I was working a metric crapton of overtime at work and was exhausted.
So let's get out the bad stuff first. :)
-Every main male character is God's gift to England. -The characters tend to wax syrupy at times. That saccharine sweetness that dribbles on for several paragraphs while they swear their undying love to one another. It's a bit obnoxious at times. -For me at least, the stories started out with the best, dying down to almost uninteresting near the end, and then surging to a stronger finish with the last story that tried but failed to meet the strength of the first story. -Sometimes the characters reactions were a bit...extreme. Or confusing. -Her "evil" characters tend to be just that - pure evil with no redeeming qualities at all. Not all of them...but most of them. She makes up for this with her other characters though.
Now the good stuff! -Imagery and setting. The writer does medieval very, very well. It happens to be my favorite setting for romances, and I adore this author because of how well she sets her stories. -Her characters are beautiful. They almost (see complaint about evil characters above) always have virtues, weaknesses, and ...at times more negative traits. -Children in her stories. Now...let me confess...I generally dislike kids - except at a distance. They are messy, far too honest, way too active, and difficult for me to communicate with. In romances I read I regard kids with a wary eye. But this writer pulls them off and I adore the children in her stories. -Sheer pleasure. This is what I get reading these books. I just thoroughly enjoyed the stories. Even exhausted and working way too much overtime, I loved them. When I was at my most tired 2-3 hours before I got off work, these stories helped pull me through.
Got a few more books to go through, then plan on reading yet another book by this author:)
The Dark Lord, Gaston de Russe, has claimed the fortress at Mt. Holyoak after Guy Stonely, its lord, was imprisoned in the Tower for treason. His terribly abused wife, Remington, her sisters and son remain in residence. There is much, much death in this story, but the story is so beautiful and full of action and adventure you won't want to miss it. 84 Dragonblade is the excellent story of Toby and Tate. Tate de Lara comes to Cartingdon to raise support for young King Edward III. Edward's mother, Queen Isabella, and her lover, Roger Mortimer, are currently ruling as regents, and Mortimer is actively searching for young Edward to kill him. Elizabetha Cartingdon, called Toby, becomes enmeshed in the intrigue. Tate has storm cloud eyes which you will quickly discern, and whenever you see "vizier," think "brazier. " 44 Unending Love Adeline de Aston has returned home from her fostering. Her grandfather's knight, Maddoc du Bois, is on hand to greet her. Addie has been in love with Maddoc since she was a child. Several unwanted suitors track Addie to her home and refuse to take no for an answer. There is much adventure in this story. 25 Walls of Babylon Babylon Castle is seized by Kenton le Bec for King Henry and shortly after follows a six-day battle to hold it against Edward's forces. Lady Nicola and her three sons resent le Bec's occupation and resist his orders at every opportunity. I did not like Nicola. She was too quarrelsome and she refused to adapt to new situations. While this trait may be admirable to some, she should have been more focused on survival for the sake of her children. Nevertheless, Walls of Babylon is a great story. 18 The Legend Peyton and Ivy, 21 and 17, are contentedly running their prosperous ale business, an attractive prospect for suitors. Alec Summerlin, the Legend, is a knight with bullying, overbearing parents who are set on Alec marrying Peyton for her wealth. Alec and Peyton must travel a rocky road to reach their HEA. 58
If I could have awarded this collection with more than just five stars I definitely would! These are five phenomenal stories. I can't believe that the price was only $0.99. you are getting 5 full length novels. This collection will fulfill you with hours and hours of powerful stories.
I have read every single one of these medieval stories and they truly are worthy of more than five stars each.
I can soundly recommend these to you! This author creates an environment in your mind where you feel that you are part of the tale that is being told while filling your heart at the same time.
Again, I recommend that you pick up this collection, for you will be happy that you did! You are getting five medieval romance stories that are jam-packed of action, deep loyalties and great loves.
Feisty heroines and the mighty warriors that try to tame them
Never underestimate the power of a woman. These feisty heroines give the men who attempt to tame them, a run for their money. But it doesn't take long for the men to realize their hearts have already been captured by the feisty females. They are just reluctant to admit it.
As always, Kathryn Le Veque does not disappoint. Heroes that are strong and tender and heroines that are determined, passionate and as brave as their men. With twisting plots and surprising challenges to overcome, it it with great satisfaction that the happy ending arrives.
True Le Veque stories! I had read a couple of the stories, but the first one was new to me and a great tale! You never go wrong buying one of her books! Always great stories of realistic characters and a HEA ending! Great reading!!
I've been reading books for 35 years and this is by far my favorite. It's a collection of stories and they are so good you just can't put it down. I almost used a vacation day or two lol you definitely want to read this. Enjoy!
I read the whole box set straight through. I tried to put it down after each book but I just couldn't. I got very little sleep over t h e last coup has hit every of days and my husband has hit every fast food restaurant in a twenty miles radius. Lol.
Love the whole series. A way of escape from sometimes a humdrum life. Love the heroes but spunky women in a time when being submissive was the order of the day.
Her books are easy reading. I like the medieval subject matter. She keeps the story line intriguing. Just when you think it's finished there is another plot to unwind.
This is my second read of this book. I love Le Veque books and her medieval knights. Peyton and her sister Ivy were hilarious lively endearing characters. Their stories are captivating. A really good read!
I have read these books before but enjoyed them again. Things about each story and characters came back with new meaning, some things I didn’t even remember.I enjoyed each one over again.
Especially enjoyed the last take as it made me laugh numerous times and smile often at the adventures and predicaments of the 2 sisters and The legend with Ali and their banter. Brava! Patricia
