M. Malone is a NYT and USA TODAY bestselling author, a RITA® Award winner, and a member of RWA's Hall of Fame.
She lives with her husband and their two sons in the picturesque mountains of Northern Virginia even though she is afraid of insects, birds, butterflies and other humans.
Since starting her indie publishing journey she has sold over a million books and her titles have hit the NYT and USA Today bestseller lists more than a dozen times. She also holds a Master’s degree in Business from a prestigious college that would no doubt be scandalized at how she’s using her expensive education.
This book was just a super short prequel to the upcoming SIN DUET featuring Mathias. Who it turns out is a virgin. I'm not a fan of virgins. Especially virgin heroes, but I loved Mathias in previous books, plus he is British...so I am going with it.
This is the first book. A short novella to in the upcoming SIN DUET and it features Mathias. What we get is a look into his life and past, what shaped Mathias into who he is. We get answers about his childhood which finally explains on who really Mathias is and why, and clears up any questions about him and his past. This short prequel has me super excited for the full story when it comes out. I have been in love with Mathias since reading about him in previous books and I look forward to getting the rest of his story in the Sin duet.
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
The Force Duet Force Enforce - - Forceful (free prequel)
The Deep Duet Deep Deeper - - In Deep (free prequel)
The Sin Duet Before Sin (Book 0.5) Sin (Book 1) Sinful (Book 2)
Anyway, this prequel gives you the background that you can use to start getting to know more on Mathias. It is a heartbreaking read and now we know why Mathias is the way he is.
Knowing a little about Mathias before I picked this prequel up...what a way to hook interest! The flashbacks were a bit darker then I was expecting and sad. Yet the current day moments had me smiling at the closeness of the security group. And Mathias fighting a bad guy with a baby strapped to his chest... well, that’s close enough to Jason Statham kicking patootie while slinging the baby in the carrier to safety:)
I’ll definitely continue on because I want to know what happens!
It's Matthias' time to shine and shine does he in this short prequel to The Sin Duet. I've been intrigued by Matthias from day one. He's seemingly calm and brilliant, yet there have always been little nuggets of something serious going on underneath his facade. Here in Before Sin we finally get a smidgen of his backstory, and let me tell you, it IS. NOT. PRETTY! It's only barely alluded to, and yet there's so much foreboding in the short little snippets we're given, that I just know his full story is going to be the most intense, the most brutal of all the Blake Security badass alpha men. And I cannot wait to meet the heroine who will be his match.
Meanwhile, this will be me anxiously awaiting Sin!!!
Before Sin is super short prequel to the upcoming SIN DUET. And in this short prequel we get some Mathias back story. I loved Mathias in the previous books, and have waited patiently for his story. Looking forward to the rest of his story with the Sin duet.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
Before Sin is the prequel to The Sin Duet. So it is short and gives you a taste of what your in for when you move on to the next book, Sin.
They say love is all around. Year, for everyone but me. It sounds crazy, I know. Breaking News: Badass bodyguard for the nation's top security firm doesn't know how to talk to women. That's it folks. I have no game. Luckily my newfound family at Blake Security accepts me exactly as I am. But there are my things in my past, secrets, that I'd do anything to protect them from.
I am so happy to be back in to the world of Blake Security and even more happy that the gang is all here in this prequel. If you have read the Shameless Series you know all about Blake Security and you know who Matthias is. Now you get to find out more about the guy who is closed off and not as open as everyone else who is his "family" now. I assume this prequel is to explain Matthias past and it shocked me. Wow is this guy hiding some serious things. With that said your going to want to jump into Sin the second you close this prequel. Thank goodness the wait is not long until May 29. I can't wait to find out what is going to happen in this first book. It will be a nail biter for sure.
I have been waiting to get Matthias story from the previous books he has been one of my favorites.
I am happy he is getting his story and I look forward to the Sin Duet.
This is the prequel which gives us a good look at his background and what happened to make Matthias who he is now. I always had a few questions reading the other books but I got some answers in this one. However,, I now have even more questions!!! I am so excited to read what is next and look forward to finding out the whole story...until next time grab your copy of this prequel and get to know Matthias.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review for Rockstar Book Muse
Wow!! Before Sin is the the precursor to Sin, and begins to give you a bit of the background on Matthias Weller, Blake Security's hacker extraordinaire. We get a look into Matthias' past, which as we have glimpsed from the other Blake Security books is very mysterious and dark. We begin to learn about Matthias being raised in a community known only by the name The Family. Before Sin starts off at JJ and Jonas' wedding rehearsal and leaves us in suspense and ready to move onto Sin. Before Sin is a great novella which sets the stage for the bigger story in Sin. Oh, and since this is by Malone Squared you know there will be plenty of laughter and courageousness, even in a novella as short as Before Sin. Happy Reading!!!

Matthias story is here and ...OMG! This prequel gives us a taste of what made him the tight-lipped, capable, killing machine he is now.
Blake Security team and their families are his new family now. So when his past threatens his present then this family is his top priority.
M. Malone and Nana Malone are back with a new Blake Security story. Matthias storyline tho seems to be much more interesting and much more powerful because of his past. I always knew that he was someone special all along..
Read the prequel and then continue with Sin which is going to be released on May 29th...
The hotties of Blake Security are back, this time with Matthias. I've been waiting for the sexy Brit's secrets and this quick read gives us some backstory that definitely pulls at the heartstrings. We also get a peek at what's to come in the Sin Duet as well as a bit of this tough guy's softer side when he interacts with those closest to him. All in all, this prequel promises another great story for the family that makes up Blake Security.
For being a brief introduction to Sin, this boom was entertaining. Matthias was a bit of a mystery. With short glimpses into his past, this book hints at a much bigger adventure in Sin and I’m absolutely giddy. I just know that I’m going to LOVE Matthias by the end of his story. The guy is a total enigma. With a big heart and protective/caring personality...there’s a hint at just how dangerous he is and I can’t wait to find out.
Now here's something you don't see everyday. A bad *** virgin alpha hero. Mathias has made cameos in previous M squared books and he definitely makes an impression. The attitude, the accent and the hidden beast that lurks inside is worth waiting a bit longer to have the full story. Great teaser.
Keep in mind when you are reading that this is a super short prequel meant to entice us into delving into the lead character, Matthias' upcoming story, SIN. This book gives us much-needed insight into his background and totally accomplished the job of enticing me. I am looking forward to the finale, SIN.
A very short prequel to Sin. It focuses on Matthias and his past. You get a brief sense of who Matthias is and why he has that lone wolf thing going on. For it to be such a quick read, it is truly intense.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.
This is an excellent prelude to the Sin duet and illustrates how Matthius’ life is influenced by his early years living with the Family. Now working for Blake Securities, he is finding some measure of what a family truly means, while trying hard to hold the monster inside him at bay. This is a book that will not disappoint and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Growing up in the Family, Matthias tries to protect Sabine and Gigi. They were so young and innocent and he tries to keep them out of trouble and away from the things they shouldn’t see. Matthias’ mother tries hard to shield him, but it isn’t long before he accepts the harsh reality of what his mother has to do to secure their safety, prompting him to make a vow. Matthias mother had always told him to stay out of the way, stay hidden and don’t draw attention; he didn’t need to have Father’s attention. Matthias has a plan to get him and Gigi out; they were so close to escaping but it eventually ends in a promise Matthias cannot keep.
Years later and Matthias is now working for Blake Security. The bar is crowded, making Matthias feel uncomfortable; he had already tried to escape JJ and Jonas’ rehearsal dinner once, without success. Now Amber is showing an interest in him, but ignoring his subtle back-off signals. Matthias didn’t like to be touched and while Amber tries to entice him, he knows she is only going to be disappointed; the need to check his security system at home is more important. May be Matthias is just running away; what if he is, he would never admit it to anyone who asked, not ever. Living in the headquarters of an international security conglomerate, quiet wasn’t the norm, but with JJ and Jonas impending wedding, there were no active cases needing research. Everything is quiet until Matthias gets a call from Lucia asking for help; a stripper from their bachelorette party has stolen from them. Oskar retrieves their items and then warns the man against ever coming back; he had once been a thief himself and was sympathetic. As far as Matthias is concerned, it is another day and another crisis adverted and he is happy that the people he cares for are as safe as he can make them. It wasn’t the life he had ever expected to have, but it was better than he deserved; these people were his family now. Matthias secretly hoped that one day Lucia would see him as more than a friend, but that was before he saw the way she looked at Noah, a man who was like a big brother to him and someone he had looked up to forever; the fact Matthias feels a connection to their child Isabella is also unexpected. When Matthias take Isabella to her yoga class, he doesn’t expect to be a target or that Isabella would become collateral damage. Was this an order to kill or capture? Matthias relays a message back to Father. The Family were coming for him, but Matthias would do everything to protect the people in his life. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
WOW!!! A preview into Matthias' story, Before Sin gives you some background into the young, brilliant hacker and former assassin who's past has made him a monster that likes to watch people bleed, but who's present has him with a new "family", one that has taken him in and have trained him to help people as a member of Blake's Security. Yes, Noah and the gang are all here as they get ready for Jonah and JJ's wedding. A story that is very well written, as we have come to enjoy from Nana Malone, Before Sin will captivate you, hurt your heart, anger you more than you can believe and give you insight into what has made the "kid" of the team, the way he is. The gentle young man who doesn't like being touched, but will let his monster out when he is protecting those he cares about.
The characters, as always, are so very well written and developed. Matthias is a damaged man. His soul is tarnished, but his heart is in tact enough that he would lay down his life to protect those that he care about, especially little baby Izzy. That little one has everyone wrapped around her little bitty fingers. His darkness was born by his upbringing in the "Family". He watched as they killed the little girl he so desperately tried to save. The "Father" wanted him though and that's the only thing that kept them from killing him as well when they tried to escape. He had a talent for technology and was able to do some hacking for them. He was valuable, so he was spared. He had seen so much in his young life, so many things that ate away at his soul.
A short read that will give you a much needed insight into the workings of the mind of Blake Security's computer genius, you will read this quickly and want to jump right into his complete story. I highly recommend reading this prequel before jumping into Sin. It will be a definite eye opener.
Sweet Hollow Women is by Holly Tierney-Bedard. I am a little ambivalent about this book. I liked it and yet I didn’t. I know that only makes sense to someone who reads a lot. The story is about Maggie, her daughter, and her granddaughter and how they survived in Sweet Hollow in the 60’s. It was difficult for me to get into and to figure out who was who among the characters. It seemed that some of the events in the story were just added to create excitement but really didn’t have a good reason for being there. Maggie Haydel had nothing to do with her parents for a long time. She pulled away from the family when she was ten. On her birthday, her Father and Uncle robbed a bank. Even at ten, she strongly disagreed and began pulling away. She married and had a daughter, Rhonda, who got pregnant in high school, ended up with the father and lived a life of drudgery and poverty. Her daughter, Carasine, lived mainly with her grandmother, Maggie for years; but was finally dragged back into the family when she was a teen. Carasine ultimately began living with her maternal great grandparents. The circle swings back to include Uncle Wilson. Then you have the daughter of a wealthy man running off with a worker while her Father works to create a scheme to bringing in spiders to create a canopy of spider webs. As you can see, the plot twists and turns until you believe you have to set some things in motion to be able to understand the book. There are so many twists and turns that it is hard to keep up with. So, I am not sure if I really liked the book or not.
Before Sin The Sin Duet Book 1 by M. Malone, Nana Malone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ No matter what they writes it's a AWESOME Read. Nana and Minx Malone absolutely handle this book perfectly. Before Sin is a spectacular, amazing, fascinating and so exciting. I knew Mathis story would be a phenomenal read and I will admit to crying multiple times while reading this book. WOW it's more emotional and explosive than I thought it would be. But of course you will laugh out loud with the hangover scene. I don't know why I'm surprise these two ladies are a dynamic writing team they are awesome authors on their own so you just know their books they write together will absolutely ROCK YOUR WORLD. There is a perfect balance between the past and the present, and that alone is what made Before Sin is so spectacular. I have really enjoyed the continuation of this series ,and I have truly enjoyed this prequel of Sin, I'm so looking forward to reading the next books the Malone's has planned next. Because I know the next books in Sin will knock my socks off. If you want a book to WOW you this is it. I highly recommend this book and the series.
Ok, so this is a free prequel which is really a tease to interest you in the duet that is Sin and Sinful. You must read in order to get the full story of Matthias. I have read the other Blake Security books (and you probably want to too as they are delicious! Lol) and so I know all the guys already and they are easy to love. Matthias is like a little brother to Noah, but he has a dark side that no one knows about. He keeps it trapped deep inside, but when someone comes for him and those he loves what will his dark side do?
I enjoyed both the earlier books about Blake Security and was thrilled to finally get more insight into the quite yet deadly, Matthias. We finally know a bit about his past and why he is so shut off but what will happen when a threat breaks through his walls?
Before Sin by M. Malone and Nana Malone is the prequel in The Sin Duet, releasing on the 29th May. It is short and sweet, giving us a taste of what we can expect from Matthias character.
If you have read the Shameless Series, you will know about Matthias and the Blake Security. Matthias has always been the character closed off from most people and to an extent his ‘family’ but in this book and the following book, we will learn more about Matthias’s story. He certainly has his secrets that are coming back to haunt him and possibly create drama for his ‘family’.
One you have read Before Sin, you will want to jump right into Sin, the second book in the series, which releases on the 29th May. All, I can say is thank god we, or should I say you don’t have long to wait, me on the other hand, has already experienced Sin. Which I will be reviewing on the 29th, and its safe to say, Matthias is more complicated than anyone expected!!! :P
This short, quick read is a great beginning to the upcoming novel, Sin. This is Matthias' story from the Blake Security family and it's gonna be a good one.
It took me about an hour and a half to read. And the book ends at 54%, the rest of the book is a preview to Sin. That really bothers me; I know that no matter where it ends, I still get the whole story, but it's annoying to be invested and think you have so much left of the book and then it just ends before you were ready.
There's not much to say about this novella because of how short it is, but it does a really great job at setting up Matthias' story. We get to know his background and where he's from, which is going to make a great story in Sin.
I really enjoy the Blake Security family. I've only read Rafe's story, but when I'm not bogged down by arcs, I will definitely read the others.
Just WOW! This is the beginning of Matthias’ story and it is as explosive as he can be. Ever since the reader was introduced to this character, you just knew that sparks were going to fly when his story finally came to light. Matthias has been restraining himself from letting out the “monster” inside of him and would do anything to protect his new family at Blake Security but there is someone threatening everything and everyone he holds dear. Can he keep it together or will he lose himself to his past? This is one story that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. It does end in a cliffhanger but that just keeps you revving your engine for the next installment in this amazing series. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to read the next part of Matthias’ story. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
Holy God of the hot-sexy-British men! Before Sin by M. Malone & Nana Malone is a sinful way to start their new duet called The Sin Duet. This is a short prequel that will give you all the feels of Mathias's past. Who it happens to be a British. I have a soft spot for British heroes. So definitely this book is a free go for me.
This prequel is to easy you in Mathias's background, his childhood and all the things that made him the man he is. It will give you plenty of details of him. This is not only a way to introduce you to his world, this is a wonderful way to understand him.
I can't wait to read more about him! I am sure it's going to be an intense journey that will leave me and will leave you wanting more! All in this prequel promises another stunning story. Mathias is absolutely my kind of alpha book boyfriend hero.
This prequel blew my mind. I just thought I wanted to know Matthias’ back story. I knew it would be full of some hard to read stuff but nothing prepared me for this. I don’t know how Nana and Minx do it but they have definitely done it again. You will definitely want to read this prequel. Don’t worry all the other usual suspects are still accounted for. JJ and Lucia actually have an opportunity to get into a little trouble. Matthias has been working on some side projects (revenge) and it looks like they are trying to serve up some revenge of their own. You got to be prepared to deal with Matthias and his killer monster that has been dying to make an appearance. Can Matthias keep his family safe while letting his monster have a little fun? Stay tuned...
