Shortly after Irene and her family move into their new home in Evreux, Normandy, she is approached by a mysterious woman muttering about Irene's mother being in danger before she disappears. This is the first of several mysteries that Irene and her friends Sherlock Holmes and Arsene Lupin find themselves investigating.

When I first picked up this novel, I didn't realize that it's the fourth book in the Sherlock, Lupin, and Me series as told by Irene Adler. The concept of putting these three characters together before we "know" them is what attracted me right away. Of the three, I'm least familiar with Lupin. I knew going in that he's known as a gentleman thief, like Simon Templar from The Saint. (Has anyone else played the PC game Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis?) Overall, I liked the story and writing style, but at times I felt out of the loop. For example, Sherlock and Irene don't feel at all like the characters I know and love, or at least they don't yet. That's probably a sign I should read the first three books in the series.

C'est un véritable plaisir pour moi que de lire les aventures de nos jeunes enquêteurs en herbe car en plus d'apporter un vent de fraicheur après une lecture ardue, on sent déjà bien les différents caractères qui s'affinent.

Comme des bons fromages, ou du vin, nos jeunes amis mûrissent, prennent de l'étoffe et les futurs adultes qu'ils seront commencent à se dessiner.

Sans révolutionner le genre policier, sans être novateur, les aventures de nos jeunes amis sont toujours plaisantes à lire et font du bien à l'esprit, sans pour autant offrir du temps de cerveau à une célèbre boisson gazeuse.

Cette fois-ci, on quitte Londres et on retourne en France, dans la campagne, pour une enquête qui va les mener jusqu'à la ville lumière, qui sombre dans la famine, suite à la guerre franco-allemande de 1870.

Irene, de par son journal "intime", nous raconte sa vie – mais pas trop – et ses aventures de folie avec Lupin et Sherlock, et dans ce tome, nous en apprendrons un peu plus sur elle et sur ce qu'elle nous parle depuis le premier tome, c'est à dire sur ses parents.

Si le début est assez calme, ensuite, pas le temps de s'asseoir ou de boire un café car on va bouger, enquêter, faire des filatures, se faufiler dans des lieux mal famés, et faire des tas de déductions.

Une chose m'a surprise et sursauté : l'utilisation d'un mot wallon que j'utilise souvent "bardouchi" que je fais suivre par "de kermesse". Et oui, l'enquête aura quelques origines namuroises… Pour un français, ça ne comptera pas, mais pour une Belge qui vient du Sud (de la Belgique), ça compte.

Anybref, sans révolutionner le genre, cette série est bien fichue, agréable à lire, elle vous aère la tête en vous offrant du plaisir durant 250 pages, et, sans se prendre la tête, vous offre du suspense, du mystère, et un beau moment d'amitié.

A mystery that mostly takes place in war-torn Paris ... and is riddled with references to streets and sites that would warm any historian's heart. Interesting references to the famed French author Alexandre Dumas. More adventure than mystery here, since readers aren't given many clues or enough context to solve the problem. And (alas!) English-speaking readers are left hanging by the final revelation, which hints at more, because these first four books are the only ones that have been translated from the original Italian.

Cuarta aventura de este intrépido trío. Novela a novela vemos su crecimiento y evolución, cada obra es más "madura" que la anterior, dentro de su tono juvenil. Nos adentramos en los subterráneos de París en busca de una reliquia con, supuestamente, un gran poder. Sólo me ha faltado un poquito más de descripción de esos subterráneos, esas criptas. No obstante, entiendo que está destinado a un público juvenil y es importante el ritmo en la narración. Seguiré acompañando a este trío de oro en sus próximas aventuras :)

Toujours une très bonne lecture, j’aime toujours autant le style d’écriture comme si c’était écrit des années après.

Les crimes et leurs résolutions sont incroyables et très ingénieux. C’est hyper recherché et à chaque fois tout résulte d’une machination, j’adore ça.
Et les références à la littérature ou au contexte de l’époque sont incroyables et très subtiles

This was just the slightest bit better than Mystery of the Scarlet Rose, but it was decent! Not quite as much romance, and I also felt I just didn't get drawn into the story. Somehow the author managed to make pretty much all of the book boring, but the ending good?... Anyways, The Sopranos Last Song is still the best!

I love the relationship of Irene Adler, Arsene Lupin and Sherlock Holmes...

I love the suspense of it and the tumultuous adrenaline of the climax...

But was not my favorite...I am going to give Irene Adler's last 2 books a chance and see, especially since I'm such a Holmes fan, and I love the idea of a tween Irene Adler and her mysteries/adventures with a much younger Sherlock, as told by Irene...

If you like Sherlock Holmes, if you like Irene Adler, and if you like a mystery about a secret society plotting to restore order to a war-torn France, with romantic endeavour, plenty of action, a good sense of humor, street-smarts and as devoted a friendship as Harry, Ron and Hermione (of Hogwarts fame), this is for you!

My name is Irene, and I've discovered a piece of a map. I don't know what it's about, but two men attacked me trying to get their hands on it. I wrote letters to my good friends in London, Arsene Lupin and Sherlock Holmes, and they've both arrived here in France to help. Sherlock is the one who figured out the map is of an area of Paris, and we now find ourselves there searching for clues. We've discovered the man behind the thieves is called the Grand Master of Paris, but we have no idea of his true identity. Our search for the truth will take us into the countryside, to Paris itself, and even under the city.

This book is a young reader's version of the classic Sherlock Holmes mysteries, and it's the fourth one in a series. The author provided clues to help readers solve the problem, but the resolution still included surprises. It was nice to see a female protagonist being assisted by two talented boys. The kids formed a tight-knit "family". The boys provided brains and "muscle", but Irene was the leader. Each character contributed unique abilities, and Irene didn't fit the stereotype of a young girl. She was inquisitive, rebellious, and took chances. Maybe even stretched the truth a bit. Overall, an entertaining book that will appeal to young lovers of mysteries.

La cosa che più mi secca è che finalmente Irene incontra la sua vera madre ma non sceglie di non dire nulla in questo volume. Lei dice di non ricordare altro e per questo sorvola sull'incontro, anche se continua con il suo racconto. L'ho trovata una presa in giro colossale!

Però la storia si fa leggere e i personaggi sono piacevoli. Questa volta si prendono di mira quelle strane sette che cercano di riportare l'ordine sociale aspirando a un ritorno al passato. E vi faccio notare che siamo in pieno 1871 - Comune di Parigi e tutte quelle cose lì.

Adesso tocca aspettare fino a venerdì per continuare. Mi sa che creano dipendenza questi libretti!!

This one had a tone of melancholy throughout the whole thing which led itself to the setting very well. I hope the next one in the series gets translated soon. I need to find out more about Irene's family.

Nel salottino londinese di Briony Lodge, troviamo riuniti nella notte di Natale, i giovani Sherlock Holmes, Arsène Lupin, Irene Adle, Mila Adler e Billy Gutsby.

La cena è stata consumata, bisogna attendere solo lo scambio dei regali allo scoccare della mezzanotte ma se non fosse per un pacchettino misterioso, l'asettico Sherlock Holmes, si sarebbe sicuramente ritirato già nelle sue stanze. L'attesa della mezzanotte però è l'occasione perfetta per raccontare delle storie.
Ecco quindi i nostri giovani ragazzi narrare cinque casi, apparentemente complicati e irrisolvibili, che ognuno di loro, con astuzia e intelligenza, è riuscito a risolvere.

Ad aprire le danze è Mila Adler che giovanissima viene inviatata dalla sorellastra a partecipare alla festa di Natale realizzata da suo padre, lo Zar. Qui assisterà al furto del gioiello preziosissimo della contessa Drachmatova.
Arriva il turno di Irene Adler che ci narra di quando fu inviata a Norfolk per indagare per conto dei servizi segreti di Sua Maestà.
Arsenio Lupin invece ci racconta di quando mentre si trovava a Parigi con la figlia, "magicamente" il Louvre venne violato per ben due volte. Il testimone poi passa a Billy Gutsby, il giovanissimo maggiordomo tuttofare, che in una Londra confusionaria, assiste alla sparizione di un baule molto importante.
A terminare la serie di racconti c'è un giovanissimo Sherlock Holmes, che ci condurrà al Nord, a Leeds, per indagare su ben due casi.

Tutti i racconti sono terminati, è arrivato il momento di scoprire cosa si cela dietro il regalo misterioso, da chi sarà stato inviato e perchè? I nostri ragazzi si ritroveranno forse in presenza di un altro caso da risolvere?

Cinque misteri per Natale scritto con lo pseudonimo Irene M. Adler, il personaggio letterario di un racconto di Sir Arthur Conan Doyle che vede come protagonista proprio Sherlock Holmes, è un libro accattivante, divertente e intrigante.
All'interno del libro infatti, troverete cinque piccole storie investigative, adatte soprattutto ai piccoli lettori che si stanno avvicinando al "mondo" del giallo.
Per i più grandi invece sarà un piacere ritrovare, uno degli investigatori più amati della storia, Sherlock Holmes, nelle vesti di un astuto ragazzino.

Buku ini salah satu buku yang diambil anakku dari salah satu rak di toko buku Gramedia. Kalau aku sudah kehabisan buku, dan malas membuka segel tumpukan bukuku yang belum kubaca, aku akan membaca buku-buku anakku. Buku ini salah satunya.

Buku ini memakai pov orang pertama, yaitu Irene Adler sendiri, yang mengalami petualangan bersama dua sahabatnya. Sherlock si pemikir, dan Lupin si pemberani. Setting kejadian adalah masa perang di Eropa, yaitu dimulai saat keluarga Irene pindah ke sebuah villa di perdesaan untuk mencari udara segar bagi ibu Irene yang sakit-sakitan.

Di villa itulah secara misterius, Irene menemukan sebuah amplop di belakang salah satu lukisan. Isinya adalah potongan kertas yang berisi garis-garis, titik, yang tidak jelas. Irene merasa perlu menghubungi kedua sahabatnya Sherlock dan Lupin, karena peristiwa yang membuatnya menemukan amplop tersebut sangat ganjil dan mencurigakan.

Singkat cerita, kedua teman Irene datang berkunjung. Sherlocklah yang pertama menyadari bahwa kertas dalam amplop itu adalah sebuah sobekan peta Kota Paris, Perancis.

Kejadian demi kejadian membawa ketiga sahabat itu menuju Perancis dan menemukan rahasia apa di balik sobekan peta. Apalagi mereka mengetahui bahwa sobekan peta itu ada delapan buah yang jika disatukan akan membentuk satu peta utuh menuju ruang rahasia tempat harta pusaka kuno yang konon tak ternilai harganya.

Nah, berhasilkah mereka menemukan harta pusaka tersebut, mengingat banyak pihak juga menginginkannya? Nah, baca sendiri lanjutannya ya, aku nggak mau spoiler.

Yang jelas, buku ini enak dibaca karena cara menuturkannya seperti orang sedang bercerita. Thanks to Tanti Susilawati sebagai pengalih bahasanya. Mirip gaya bertutur novel-novel terjemahan yang settingnya di pedesaan Inggris, misalnya novel-novel karya Agatha Christie. Yang jelas untuk penggemar novel detektif, buku ini bisa menjadi satu pilihan.**

Une lecture bonbon terminée le jour d'Halloween. C'est toujours une joie de me plonger dans une enquête jeunesse autour de ce trio ultra attachant sous la houlette de la flamboyante Irene. Pendant que la Commune fait rage à Paris, les Adler se réfugient dans une demeure bien mystérieuse à Evreux. Loin de la ville et de ses deux compères, Irene s'ennuie. Mais un mystère bien plus grand que tout ceux qu'ils ont eu à élucider va bientôt pointé le bout de son nez. Sur fond de société secrète, d'escroquerie de haut vol et de relique légendaire, les trois amis vont se retrouver au coeur du tumulte parisien.
Encore une fois, j'aime aimé le rythme, les personnages qui évoluent doucement mais sûrement. On en apprend plus sur la mystérieuse ascendance d'Irene. L'humour enfantin distillé justement prête à sourire souvent, tant il rend les personnages touchants. Une série que je recommande si vous avez envie de vous détendre en lisant une petite enquête classique et surtout aux jeunes lecteurs qui souhaitent s'initier au genre.

Un peu plus déçue par ce tome, je dois bien l’avouer. Je l’ai trouvé plus brouillon, voire parfois mal construit au niveau de l’intrigue, comparé aux trois premiers. J’ai eu l’impression que certaines portes étaient ouvertes sans jamais être complètement refermées, ou que certaines explications sortaient un peu de nulle part, voire frôlaient l’absurde et ca m’a un peu dérangée dans ma lecture.

Heureusement, la dynamique entre nos trois protagonistes reste toujours aussi plaisante à suivre et conserve cette alchimie qui fait le charme de la série. Le fil rouge autour d’Irène s’ouvre enfin un peu plus, et malgré mes réserves, j’ai tout de même hâte d’en découvrir davantage dans la suite.

Les clins d’œil à Dumas père et fils sont d'ailleurs plutôt sympa !

Un tome en demi-teinte donc, avec quelques maladresses, mais qui parvient tout de même à garder mon intérêt pour la suite de l’aventure.

En esta historia, nos vemos sumergidos en la familia Adler, Irene y su familia se ven obligados a volver a Francia a una casita en el campo, la salud de la señora Adler nos es de las mejores debido al humo de la ciudad de londres. Es ahí en este lugar alejado donde muy pronto Irene se verá metida en una nueva aventura, una que está vez tendrá grandes repercusiones en su vida y que al final nos revelara, la respuesta a un misterio que se venía planteando desde hace ya mucho tiempo.

Con la ayuda de sus más grandes amigos, Sherlock y Lupin, Irene llegará hasta el fondo de una conspiración de un mapa secreto, con un tesoro escondido en lo más profundo de Francia

when I read the first in the series, I was obsessed I wanted to have the whole thing, thinking it will get only better starting that point, but I was disappointed, the idea of it building and building the mystery and them suddenly rushed, trying to make a back story of the main chr, their dilemma with their families just highlight their age, the so called wit , is not sadly that funny..
I don't know if it cos am reading in a translated version, and this fourth, I am no longer upset that we don't have more untranslated, that turned to be a kind excuse not to follow up with it any more.
saying that I will read any new translation, but am not holding my breath for it...

Cuarto libro de la saga de Sherlock, Lupin y yo, y cuarto libro que es super entretenido, rápido de leer y muy entrañable. Es un placer acompañar en sus aventuras a Sherlock, Arsène e Irene, estas están repletas de acción, información, amistad, cierta dosis de peligro y abundante misterio y en esta ocasión no iba a ser menos.. El final, aunque cierra la trama principal, deja con ganas de más y alguna que otra pregunta por responder. En cuanto a personajes, nuestro trio protagonista es una delicia, cada uno con su personalidad y forma de ser, tan únicas todas, que se complementan a la perfección y forman un grupo al que es imposible no querer.

Un altro libro di questa serie concluso. Mi è piaciuto molto come del resto i precedenti ❤ nonostante siano storie destinate ad un pubblico giovane a me coinvolgono tantissimo, sono storie avvincenti e geniali e il loro punto di forza sono i tre protagonisti che non puoi fare a meno di amare. Già mi mancano un sacco e appena ne avrò la possibilità recupereró gli altri libri della serie, potrei leggerli in ebook ma io ci tengo tantissimo ad avere tutti i libri cartacei poiché ormai è diventata una delle mie serie preferite ❤📚

Come i primi racconti parte triste e fumoso sulla guerra e la trista condizione della protagonista. Però quando inizia l'avventura questa è scritta bene, carpisce l'attenzione e ti trascina verso la fine.
