Fast paced read.

Nox was something else. Just meeting Maeve and asking her to hook up in a kinky way. Wow bold and out there! He is sexy as hell though. Some parts were a tad of a step but the story was good and it didn’t really matter.

Lots of action and sex....great combination. I didn’t love the first two books but each one keeps getting better then the next.

Good series will read more!

Although Nox has been featured in the previous three books of the Black Star Security series, not a lot was revealed about this very intriguing man. I did know he enjoyed sex, a lot, but there were no real feelings for any of the woman as his emotions were definitely not involved. But in his own personal story, a client comes to the security company where he works, and a dramatic event occurs in his life that he never thought would happen. Cynthia Rayne takes Nox on a journey where he experiences some surprising circumstances for the first time. BLACK AS NIGHT is heatedly scorching with passionate encounters, plus also suspenseful as dangerous exploits play out.

After her father died, Maeve Kent became the CEO of his business, and she takes her new duties seriously. This leaves her little time for anything else in her life. But when her sister disappears, she comes to realize that getting Black Star Security to help may be the only way to locate her sibling. The man selected to take her case is Logan Knoxville, a former Army Ranger. He is known for getting any task completed, and also has a reputation for having sex with a variety of women between assignments. Yet from the instant Maeve and Nox meet, their responses to the other are unlike anything either has ever felt before.

When the behavior of a character is not normal for them and leaves the person confused, I enjoy watching them go through a wide range of emotions. How Maeve and Nox react to one another at times leaves them feeling conflicted and wondering just what is going on. I especially liked seeing the man who likes to satisfy a woman and then move on questioning his next move. Cynthia Rayne had this couple repeatedly exploring what was between them, and these situations are filled with insightful details. There was certainly plenty of moments that left them sexually gratified, and Nox’s imagination took Maeve to new heights of pleasure. But sometimes these two just talked, and those instances in BLACK AS NIGHT were equally compelling.

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of Maeve’s sister is enthralling, and the race to find the truth kept me engaged as new clues became known. The author gave some vital information about two other Black Star Security team members in this book, and I am really eager to ready their upcoming stories.

I was given an ARC for a frank and honest review.
I have been rather fascinated by Nox since starting this series as he has always seemed the weirdest and most interesting of the men at Black Star security. He doesn't disappoint.
The story is fast paced, exciting and believable, with plenty to keep you riveted right up to the end. It is great to see him meet his match and find some happiness.
If you are a fan of Cynthia Rayne, you won't be disappointed. If you have never read any of her books, you are missing out and I suggest you give them a try.

Love each of the Black Star Security book. They are all unique in their own way and this one is awesome. Nox was a sniper in the army and carries a lot of baggage from this. Maeve is the CEO of her late father’s company who hires Nox to help locate her missing sister Amy. Together they work together to find her and in doing so....fireworks !

I enjoyed this book a lot. Nox is brought out as a character so much compared to the previous stories. You do not need to read the previous books but i would recommend it as previous characters are brought in throughout the story.

Ok, this one is my favorite of the series so far!! Nox is one hot man! I'm going to make it my life's mission to track down Black Star's HQ (I don't care if it's not real - I'll find it!), purposely get my self in some deep trouble, and call Nox for help!

Logan "Nox" Knoxville is never wanting for a woman. No-strings, no follow-ups, no sleep overs - that's the way he likes it - and he doesn't lie about it. As a trained sniper, he learned to detach himself from his targets, but in the process he's detached himself from everyone. Until her. When she walks in to HQ, needing help in locating her missing sister, all bets are off. Sure, he'll help her, and he'll tie up this case in no time. But, that's not all he wants to tie up. Now that the line between business and pleasure is blurred, will he be able to let her go once her sister is found?

Maeve Kent is on the edge of losing it all. Her sister is missing. Her business is showing signs of failure, and the board is ready to give her the axe. Nox is arrogant, cocky and downright annoying, but she's trusting him to the business of finding Amy. But, his blunt, and personal proposal has set her world on fire. All too soon, it's not just her body craving him - it's her heart. When this case is over, will she be able to walk away from him?

This series has been just amazing! I love the southern drawl the boys have - so sexy. The women are strong-willed and give the men a run for their money. Even the alphas need to be put in their place now and again, right? There are still a couple of main players that yet to have their story - Storm, the ex-CIA operative, and Mack, a former FBI hostage negotiator. I can't wait to see what this author has in store for them!!

A beautiful blending of fragility and the masterful...

Every privilege, every advantage, money to spare doesn’t count for a blessed thing when your sister has gone missing… and there seems to be no clues or help available. This is what Maeve is facing. it’s not until the Black Star team and Nox in particular set about to uncover more than what the eye can see.

Both characters have their strengths and weaknesses, quirky and tender, shades of light and dark that together create a perfect melding between two souls.

While this story in the Black Star Security series has serious tones… there is a whole load of in your face sexy, honesty and upfront attitude that makes you laugh. We have meet Nox in previous books (you need to read them!!)… oh YES… HE DELIVERS!! No beating around the bush for that man… tells it like it is. You’re either on board or left way behind on his ride. While there are those light moments… there is the always present, serious under tones of a nefarious plot out to decimate Maeve and all she holds dear.

Good character development in a continuing series. It doesn’t matter what you have, or what you own, how much money you make… emotions are ever there. Hurt, sadness, despair, strength, grittiness, resolve, and it helps having someone on your side, to keep you grounded... even when they question why!

Drama, intrigue, and suspense run high are this investigation unfolds.

Cynthia weaves another beautiful story with BLACK AS NIGHT. Again… she teases you with little hints of stories to come. This series is highly recommended for those that love that military/security environment, blending emotions, romance and danger all into one. Always wonderful to see past characters but this time slightly different in a good way.

If you haven’t already started this series… I’m not sure what you’re waiting for. While each story could be read as a stand alone book… a better reading experience and understanding will be had if you go back to the beginning. You will want to immerse yourself in Black Star Security.

Nox’s story is every bit as naughty as we’d hoped it would be!

Maeve is a leader among men, the CEO of her father’s company and a woman who is always in control. Until her sister goes missing. After exhausting all other avenues, she turns to Black Star Security for help. Nox is assigned to her intake interview, and right from the start he recognizes that Maeve is the kind of woman he prefers – one who is always in charge, yet willing to cede that control to him in his bed. He makes it perfectly clear right from the start what he wants from her, but he’s also completely dedicated to finding her sister and bringing her home safely.

This case is mostly worked by Nox and Storm, though we do see the other Black Star staff and family from time to time. Nox’s friendship with Storm was a revelation, one that I hope to see more of in future books. Nox prides himself on always being in control, so his ever-growing feelings for Maeve – especially in the midst of this investigation – take him by surprise and just about turn him inside out. Maeve is his match in every sense, even though from the outside it would look as though they have nothing in common.

Both Nox and Maeve have a long way to go in their personal journeys before they can participate in a real relationship, and the author did an amazing job of showing their emotional growth at every step. Knowing Nox as we do from the previous books, there’s no way to tell his story or explore his emotions without plenty of sheet-clenching, rafter-shaking, keep-the-neighbors-awake-all-night sex marathons, but there’s plenty of emotional depth as well. It’s very well done, and I look forward to reading more in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Take Charge, No Filters Nox is our Hero!!

Each Black Star Security story is terrific – this book is no exception. Nox was a sniper when he was an Army Ranger. He had to distance himself from his feelings to excel at this role. Maeve had to take over the family business when her father passed away. It is an overwhelming task, and the board may soon call a special session to question her reign. Her younger sister Amy has not been the help she hoped; while still in college, Amy could still take some smaller tasks off Maeve’s shoulders.

Now Amy has disappeared. Has the party girl become even more irresponsible, or has something terrible happened?
Maeve hires Black Start Security to find Amy and is faced with an obnoxious man who is also totally tempting;

This time, she unconsciously raised a hand, ready to strike. His nostrils flared. “Go ahead, do it.
Slap me.” Oh, she wanted to hit him, slap him right across his smug face. And then she wanted
to kiss him. Clearly, I’ve lost my mind.

The entire team is great, but Nox in particular has played a “comic relief” aspect with his casual attitude in his personal life. This story reveals the history behind how he became who he is; and how suddenly everything changes for him with the introduction of Maeve.

Danger, intrigue, tension, team, family, romance and more. This is a thrilling read!!

Knox Will Tie You In Knots and Leave You Breathless💕💕

OMG!!!! I've loved Knox with his who gives a sh#t attitude since book one. One thing is clear he's been hurt emotionally and with the things he's seen and done as an ex Army Ranger, his attitude is a way to protect himself. He is blunt to the point in so aspects of his life even with the women he hooks up with, until he meets Maeve Kent. Maeve and Knox both have alpha personalities and neither let's anyone close to them. Maeve is CEO of her late father's company, Kent Bourbon, and I'd on the verge of losing everything, then her sister becomes missing. When Knox bluntly offers Maeve an experience to lose control and just be, Maeve is shocked but she is also excited. When has the lines become blurred between no strings to actually falling is hard to define but It scares the crap out of them both. Finding Maeve's sister is top priority but where do they go from there after finding her??? I love the books in Black Star Security and have to give Cynthia Rayne lots of stars for the way she writes on touchy subjects and puts a positive soon on them, everybody needs a hero or two. Highly recommend this book as a MUST read for everyone who loves a hot alpha male and a strong willed woman who will take him to his knees and give him her heart!!! Already ordered the next book in the series where Storm gets his story!!!

I have been waiting for Nox's story since we were first introduced to him as there was just something about him that draws your interest. I have to say that his story was so much more than I thought it would be Nox and Maeve burn up your kindle. We are taken on a journey with Nox and Maeve who both have different flaws that really make you feel for and root for them.Can they let themselves be their true selves or will they keep running that's the true beauty of the gift that Ms.Rayne has for writing beautifully flawed characters that you can't help falling for and investing in. She showed this gift in her previous series The Four Horsemen MC which I love and have re-read several times as well as The Lone Star Mafia series which I hated to see end as I was fully invested in those characters. Now we have The Black Star Security series and these characters are phenomenal!! Each book is better than the last and keeps you wanting more. If you haven't already make sure you read this AMAZING series you won't be disappointed and if youre new to Ms.Rayne check out her previous series that I mentioned you CAN'T go wrong with any book by Ms.Rayne. The enigmatic, elusive and downright kinky Nox finally gets his turn in the limelight!

He is the king of flavour of the night, never mind week! He veers towards the kinky side but always seems to have women lined up, wanting what he can give them. But how will he react when he takes the lead on a case and realises that the buttoned p, always in control Maeve is the woman that he really wants to get to know, inside and out and for more than a night?!

Maeve became CEO when her father died. Her sister is a wild child but she has disappeared ad Maeve is frantic. She also has problems with a possible takeover of the board to contend with. Add in Nox, who gets her all fired up and she is left wanting more!

Nox grows throughout the book and Maeve unbuttons a little and lets her hair down, big time. I loved the way that although Alpha to the core, Nox partners with Maeve, he doesn't take over unless her safety is compromised. The sex scenes are out of this world hot but the scenes with just Nox and Maeve talking are just as intimate, even more so probably.

Logan Knoxville is ex-Army Ranger who now works for Black Star Security. Nox has vowed to never fall in love and is not sure he even knows or understands what that is. He does know he loves “sleeping” with women and lots of them.

Maeve Kent is a high-powered CEO of her family’s business. She is trying to live up to her father’s legacy and along the way she has forgotten her connection with her sister, Amy. When Amy goes missing, Maeve hires Black Star Security to find Amy. Logan is assigned to the case and things explode between the two of them in ways they never imagined possible.

This story is another great addition to this series. It is a bit darker than the others, with a very nail-biting plot with some really bad guys doing bad things. I loved watching the changes in Nox, as he really didn’t know what hit him. He and Maeve were a perfect match who made life better for one another. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Cynthia Rayne has sexy badass men down pat. Two thumbs up and then some. This book was sexy and suspenseful, Seeing thing you didn't even know that was coming. I loved it.
Logan "Nox" Knoxville loves all women and has never pretended otherwise and is a kinky bastard. He knew the moment he saw the new client Maeve Kent he wanted her sexually because that is what he does. A different woman every night.
Maeve had to find her sister but the police weren't taking her seriously - she turned to Black Star but was expecting the likes of someone like Nox. She was the head of Corporation responsible for so much.
The chemistry between her and Nox are explosive but is she willing to relinquish control and play his kinky games, can Mr. Man a night really have a feeling for someone you have read this incredible book. It is so worth the read. Black Star Security Series is awesome.

Logan "Nox" Knoxville is a lover of women and doesn’t hide this fact and on top of this, he is one kinky fellow. He knew the moment he saw client Maeve Kent that he wanted her under him because well she was a woman and that he how he rolls. Maeve came to Black Star Security because her sister was missing and no one was taking her serious that 1) she was missing and 2) that she could be in danger so she came to Black Star to hire them to help her find her sister but wasn’t expecting someone like Nox. The chemistry between them was explosive and steamy. The storyline is a bit darker than previous books which is ok by me. I enjoyed reading and the character building was fantastic. I was hooked from start to finish. I also enjoyed the secondary characters introduced and I hope to read some of their stories later on. This was an intense, sizzling, sexy read .

Maeve has become CEO of her father’s company after he passed away and it is a responsibility that she takes seriously. Although her sister is in college some support would have been helpful but to make matters worse her sister is now missing, and the police haven’t been any help, so she has approached Black Star Security for their help.

Nox is the ex-Army Sniper who has been tasked with her case. He is very attracted to the self-sufficient uptight persona she presents, and he is looking forward to seeing what she is like when she unwinds.

The adventure to find her sister is filled with suspense, twists and a lot of heat. These two are perfect for each other as they both have strong personalities and have a talent for challenging each other which leads to some fiery interactions. I am enjoying this series and I am looking forward to the next installment. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

If you have enjoyed the previous books in the Black Star Security series this one will not disappoint. This is Nox and Mauve’s story. In the previous books in the series we got a few snips of the character Nox. I have to say given those previous snips I was surprised there were not more explicit scenes in this story, yet not disappointed. The balance of keeping the plot moving yet exploring some of the more sexual aspects of Nox’s character were well played out. If you didn’t get enough of the latter there is a short story called Nox to meet that need. The author also continues to give little hints into the other characters of Black Star Security whose story has not yet been told.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author to review. It’s a great addition to the series yet can also be read as a stand-alone.

Cynthia Rayne does not disappoint with this book. I had been waiting for Nox's story and this exceeded my expectations! It definitely had swagger, sexiness and so much more!

Character development is one of the author's strong points. Cynthia Rayne gave such incredible depth to Nox and Maeve that they both felt real. As always, she also continued character development for secondary characters and has me hooked waiting for more. The world building is solid and the author paints vivid pictures even during cringe-worthy moments.

The storyline was perfectly intense with excellent suspense. Cynthia Rayne manages to skillfully weave interplay between characters with a gripping plot that kept me thoroughly engrossed. With the twists thrown in, it couldn't have been better.

5 stars for an intense, sexy, and thrilling read! Highly recommend!

Wow, this book has likeable characters, hot sex, and a twist at the end. Black Star Security is hired to find Amy, Maeve’s sister. Nox is assigned to the case and immediately tells Maeve what he wants to do with her (think hot sex). Both Maeve and Nox are emotionally unavailable and use the opposite sex for no strings attached sex. The best part of the book, in my opinion, is the slow unraveling of Nox’s heart and Maeve’s total surrender and trust in Nox. This isn’t an insta love book, but rather a “crap, I think I like you” book. There is an HEA but you know that there will be bumps in the road, kind of like real life. The book touches on a the subject of human trafficking. I am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series.

What a fun, hot, suspenseful, kinky book!!

I really liked Nox in this book. He is the kinky sniper of the Black Star Security team. Everyone know that Nox likes it loud and crazy in the bedroom but he isn't one to do feelings and relationship. I loved reading about the growing up that Nox does in this book. These pesky feelings like protecting and comforting and jealousy is new to him and it was fun to watch him go through this.

Maeve was an amazing female character to read. She is this strong take charge kind of person but yet when she lets her guard down and trust the other person, she doesn't need to be in charge all the time and can be vulnerable.

I really like this series and this books was an amazing addition to it.

Oh my gosh, this series is so yummy and just keeps getting better with each book! Nox...I really wondered how Ms. Rayne would write his story. In previous books he was the one keeping everyone awake at night with his crazy hookups and constantly walked around the house naked. He is totally unconventional, seemingly unfeeling and unapologetic about it...until Maeve walks in. Maeve needs Black Star’s help finding her sister and luckily for us she gets stuck with Nox. Loved this book, extremely sexy, exciting and humorous. Love that the characters from previous books are all on hand too. Can’t wait to read Storm’s story and hope that Mack gets her happily ever after soon...John Doe has definitely captured my attention. Great book and excellent series!

Ok so I am one of the fortunate to have the opportunity to read this book early and review. I really do love this author. This new black series is a great story line. I know these are stand alone books but to get Ms rayne’s full creative story it helps to read the series.
This book reminds me of characters from her other series the horsemen and mafia. I have been curious about Nox since the beginning of the series. I love the straight to the point characters and humor.
The only constructive criticism I would leave for future readers and ms. Rayne is there are some grammar corrections missed and if as a reader this is a problem this might be a deterrent. I ask for it not to be because I was so wrapped up in the story I could over look them. The story is worth the read.

This series just gets better and better. This story focuses on Nox, former sniper, sexual deviant and something of a loner within the team, if that’s possible.

He’s always been the brash, in-your-face one of the team, frank about his sexual preferences but still keeping others at arms length. Until Maeve comes along and makes him wonder if he wants more.

The background story to their romance is hard-hitting. Human trafficking, selling girls as sex slaves, isn’t the most palatable of subject but provides an interesting dichotomy to the last hurrah of Nox the playboy. Maeve, who hires the team to find her sister, may just be the other half he needs to feel complete.

A really enjoyable, challenging read in an even better series.

Absolutely hands down my favorite book in this series!! And this book is hawt!🔥🔥 Nox is an amazing character - he is a sexy talking, hot as hell, alpha man! But he is never does relationships. That was until he met Mauve. Mauve isn’t your typical rich girl. She is CEO to a company she inherited. Disciplined and in control. And at the moment she doesn’t have time for a relationship. But when her sister, Amy, goes missing she drops it all to find her.

When Mauve turns to Black Star Security to help her find her sister, she wasn’t expecting Nox. But the sparks flew and Nox was what she needed and wanted - someone to take control. But when he and his team find Amy, can he keep them both from danger long enough for him to have his happily ever after? Loved this book!

Nox and Maeve

I have loved Nox since the first book in the Black Star Security series, Black and Blue. This did not disappoint. Made me fall in love with him even more.
Maeve's sister, Amy, goes missing, she hires Black Star Security to find her. Nox comes into the meeting and decides that he will have Maeve. He'll find her sister, but she is his.
He likes a little kink and can tell she will too.
When they discover Amy was kidnapped, they stop at nothing to find her and find the people responsible.
I really like this series and always look forward to the next edition.
If you haven't read her other series-Four Horsemen MC and Lone Star Mafia, do it now. Great reads.

All I can say is wow! I was totally mesmerized by this fast-paced suspenseful romance and just couldn't put the book down from the first word to the last. I loved the complex characters especially sexy ex-Army Ranger sniper Logan "Nox" Knoxville and his off-the-charts chemistry and toe-curling romance with Maeve Kent, CEO of Kent Bourbon, who hires Black Star Security to find her sister, Amy. Ms. Rayne never disappoints and I can hardly wait to see what she has for us in the next Black Star Security read. When you put together two people with alpha personalities, you get an explosive hot story. Nox is that and more, and when he meets up with Maeve to help save her sister, the sparks fly like the 4th of July. The story is a page turner with a flow that keeps the reader guessing and interested. Filled with drama, grit, suspense, and romance, there is a HEA for Nox and Maeve. A stand alone read that is well written, I could not put it down, and look forward to reading more of the 'Black Star Security'. I would like to thank the author for gifting me " Black as Night". Wow!! Nox - he sees, he wants, he doesn’t mess around. Great way to start the book, just dove right in. As the case progresses for Nox trying to find Maeve’s sister, so do their feelings for each and it was awesome watch as both come to realize that they can care and love and be as kinky as they want. Both had intentionally avoided any personal commitments because of how they were raised. I loved that they were each other’s first boyfriend and girlfriend in essence. Soulmates are out there just waiting.

Sexy, suspenseful and romantic. This series never lets you down. Each book is great. Nox is always in control in the bedroom. Maeve is always in control of her life except when her sister disappears. Nox is assigned to find and bring her sister back. Maeve is tempted by Nox, to leave control in the bedroom to him. What will happen if and when her sister is found? Is there a future for Nox and Maeve who live such different lives? Strong alpha men and women. Love this series. Can't put it down once you start reading.

A very enjoyable read.
Nox has been a bit of an enigma in the previous books.
I felt he was using sex as a crutch for something, as he seemed more robotic about it than if he was enjoying it.
When we find out more about his past one understands why he has shut down emotionally.
Maeve has been one directional in her life until her younger sister goes missing.
When these two meet they gravitate towards each other but neither will admit there is more to their relationship than kinky sex.
I really enjoyed the story of the sisters kidnapping.
