"THE RISE OF THE GRAND ADMIRAL" CONTINUES! Thrawn's rise in the Imperial Empire continues at a trajectory one can only dream of. Meanwhile, Eli Vanto is still stuck in the same position as when he graduated – Thrawn's aide. But will Thrawn's obsession and pursuit of the mysterious crimelord "Nightswan" lead both Imperials to success in the Emperor's eyes? Help comes from mysterious places in the Empire…
Thrawn get his and Eli the long overdue respect. We also see Thrawn's brutal side in the pursuit of victory. No lives lost but livelihoods collateral damage. Now Thrawn burns his new good will to do things his way.
We’re almost done with the Thrawn adaptation. The novelty of seeing the characters in comic form has worn off, though I’m still enjoying the series on the whole. If nothing else it’s a fantastic refresher for when the sequel comes out – which is very soon! If you haven’t read Thrawn but want to read Alliances, then this would probably be enough to get you going. I’d still recommend reading the book first, but it’s certainly better than nothing.
Star Wars: Thrawn (by Jody Houser, illustrated by Luke Ross)
You’ll see exciting space battles, old war machines from the Clone Wars, and secret missions. Thrawn may seem quiet, but when he says things like “I'm on the road to power now,” you know he has big plans. This book shows how thinking differently—and staying calm—can be a real superpower.
#4 - "Come now. Don't you recognise an invitation when you see one?"
The artwork was pretty good in this issue. I agree with previous reviews about the consistency of whether Thrawn has pupils or not. I think the addition of pupils helps with his expression and expands his humanity.
Excellent short read about Thrawn's continued success and the beginning of his rivalry with Governor Pryce. I'm not sure which book in the Thrawn Trilogy this covers but the comics are great to read if you're short on time.
Overall this was a fun issue. They are getting a bit more consistent with whether or not Thrawn has pupils. The art is decent, and the story continues to be well adapted.
Really enjoyed and it's making like Thrawn and Eli Vanto even more, even despite the fact that Thrawn is scary. The introduction of the Chimaera was cool, too.
[#4/6] ELI PROMOTION ERA FINALLY <333 also loveee how this sets up the problem with the empire favoring speed and reputation (pride?!) over careful precision like exactly thrawn call them out
