I’ve been enjoying these books for years but I’m starting to flag. The characters change from good to bad and back again, but because the author wants them to for a specific series of events, not through organic development. Liam is a calm hero one book, then the political enemy in the next, and all the detail that could make it believable happens off screen between books. Anderson is the calm voice of reason for many books, then he is Alice’s enemy instantly. The enemies swap from one genius leader to another, and every advantage the heroes get is nullified immediately by the enemy, before they get to benefit. It is crisis of the day, with no sense of progress. The size of Haven fleet grows but you just keep finding the enemy to be bigger and bigger. One book you know everything about the amazing training Alice gets, the next book all the rest of the fleet is run by incompetents, but don’t worry Alice just screams at everyone and it’s all fixed. I’ve bought 12 of these books, but I don’t see any end in sight, and I don’t want to read an endless series of crises.
Great installment in the series. A good setup for a lot of coming action. Editing was much tighter than in the previous book, there were a few typos, but quite a bit fewer awkward phrases and such. The story did feel a bit disjointed occasionally and you wonder, what happened in several places, "how'd we get here", but overall, very enjoyable read, eagerly awaiting the next installment that comes out this year.
Hanging on the edge of the seat for the next one!!
Awesome book. Can’t wait for the next! Shame they are only small books. Could of put a couple together for a full book, but then again...couldn’t charge x mount for each one...!
This series of books is more exciting, more addictive than the most popular current TV series. Randolph Lalonde keeps the personal moral story interest on the edge of your seat. The Starship combat is you walking through the hole in your hull, facing open space one second, seeing energy weapons coming your way, then turning around and heading back into collapsed corridors filled with sparking power cables and deadly AI, and Framework Knights. All of that excitement is wrapped around the personal stories of Jessica, Ayan, Jacob and Alice.
Another great read, I can't wait for the next book. Loved to see Alice show more of her to people. Yes there were a few shocks for some of the people around Alice but she is still growing and starting to understand the new person she is becoming. It was interesting to see Theo working with Alice, helping each other out when needed. It was also good to see some real happiness for Jake and Ayan as they start to build a new family
Randolph Lalonde does not disappoint once again. I had a hard time putting this book down but i had to so i didn't read it too fast. Alice and her crew were amazing. I can't wait for the next book. Thank you again Randolph Lalonde.
Another excellent addition to the world of Spinward Fringe, its focus is more heavy on Alice and you do really need to read Carnie's Tale to fully appreciate this one.
I love, that's LOVE this series. I feel like I am watching a space show and each book is a season. I love the characters and they only get better. Can't wait to read the next book. Going to download it now!
One of the best in the series, with Alice finally showing her true depth of fierce talent and character. Well written and spell binding. Read the series in order, so you won’t missvv CB out on the flow.
As the title says best book ever, that is all needs to be said. Getting ready and enjoy but start from the 1st book , then join us in the facebook group
Really looking forward to continuing this series and seeing where it goes. Definitely an attention grabber and good storyline. A few typos but didn't distract.
Another excellent storyline in the epic saga that is the Spinward Fringe series. Enjoyable story and continuing character buikding. Looking forward to the next instalment
Excellent development of the story. Watch Alice grow and feel her two sides, the experienced one and the new young framework-less one. Lots of story lines deepened and connected. You really should read Carnie's Tale: A Spinward Fringe Story to appreciate this one to the fullest.
Really captivating book, this one is the largest in the series (I think) but I finished it the quickest. Eagerly awaiting the next one!
Just gets better and better ! Another addictive masterpiece. Once I started reading I just couldn't put it down, the trouble is, after binge reading the whole Spinward Fringe series I am finding that other SF books just haven't got the same draw. I have been spoiled for life! Just can't wait for the next one.
Often felt like the calm before the storm, which was nice. Alice's actions seemed to come out of nowhere in a couple spots, somewhat explained after the fact, but it didn't feel like anything had built to that explanation.
I have been reading this series since the beginning and have loved every single page. Jake Valent, Min Chuck Bu, Alice, Oz and the rest of the characters in this series. I cheer for them all and hiss at the Order of Eve. Randolph Lalonde keep up this great series because each and every chapter grabs me, I can't read any of these slow, I burn right through them.
