This little recipe book has some nice recipes in it, quite a few vegetarian and vegan along with those with meat or fish. I bought this as I have a fatty liver which is enlarged at the moment and need to lose some weight and get it healthier.

The reason it only gets 3 stars is because it has minimal photos and none are in colour. It also doesn’t have the nutritional value of each meal that a lot of healthy eating books do. That matters to me as I’m type 2 diabetic and on low carb, low sugar eating. To know the breakdown I’m having to put each item in a good tracker app (MyFitnessPal).

It’s not a big book and another let down of it is I bought 3 recipe books for fatty liver and liver cleansing recipes and they all have a lot of the same or very similar recipes. So, one book would have done the job.

Most recipes use a fair few ingredients including spices, herbs etc. So expect to do a shopping list in order to have those in the cupboard for making some recipes (mind you if you like many recipes and make them often the herbs if in a container and spices will last ages.)

The preparation time on many recipes are very minimal but you’d definitely need to have a grocery list for what you need. Online shopping for ingredients would be faster and easier.

There are nice juice and smoothie recipes, soups, salads, sweet treats, some desserts and meals. If you don’t like a lot of healthy salad, vegetables or have bland tastes these recipes won’t be for you. Personally, none of them would put me off as I like those foods and open to new things.

I’ve got a smoothie maker/small bullet machine which is fine for the smoothies or dressings/sauces. Luckily I’ve got a soup maker too which I highly recommend having if you like soup. Soup cooking times in here using pot and stove are up to 45 mins but my soup maker does either chunky or smooth soups in half that are faster.

I was already going to buy a good juicer as I did Dr Sandra Cabot’s Liver Cleansing Diet years ago and loved the juices to kick off the day and lost loads of weight on it. A good juicer that masticates is best as then you don’t lose the goodness from the whole fruit or vegetable.

TIP! It’s proven that on waking before you eat or drink have a glass of room temperature water with fresh lemon juice squeezed in or from the lemon juice (100% fresh) bottles you can get. It’s proven to give your liver a kick start for processing all it needs to for the day ahead.

Instead of buying this book and others I could just hop on the internet for recipes which are in colour plus can find the nutritional values for free. Then print them out. But if you like to have an an actual recipe book then this is fine.

So, all in all some interesting and unusual recipes plus more but lacking in the areas I’ve mentioned. 2.5-3 stars.

Tiny, thin little book that doesn't even give you a caloric total per serving on any recipe. There aren't a lot of pictures and the ones it does have are in grey scale. There's a couple of recipes with ingredients I have no idea where I would get them from, kinda living in the boonies here. lol Fresh herbs appear in some of the recipes, which is fine, but the author doesn't cover how to go about subbing in freeze dried or whatever if fresh isn't readily available.

The book covers a few juice, smoothie, soup, salad, health(ier) treats, and main courses. A lot of these recipes scream of the Mediterranean diet (to me), and I think you would probably get more bang for your buck if you go grab one of the cookbooks for that diet. I hope you like tomatoes a lot more than I do because a lot of recipes call for them in some capacity. Also, I don't have a juicer so those recipes are wasted on me.

I think I took a picture of two recipes and that's it.

Borrow from your public library. Don't bother buying it. Not worth it.
