Ghosts, Egyptian gods, and Aliens. What do these things have in common? They’re all things Egyptologist Dr. Rachel Conner assumed were myth until she came face to face with them. Rachel thought the most exciting part of her week would be speaking at the Ancient Civilizations symposium. Little did she know an adventure like she’d never imagined was about to begin. Rachel and her friends find themselves transported to a foreign place surrounded by beings twice their size, but bearing familiar names. Will they get home safely?
M.E. Ellison lives in Northern California with her wonderful husband. She's a CSU, Chico graduate with a B.A. in Theatre Arts. She's an avid reader who enjoys all genres but mostly writes Sci-Fi/Fantasy/YA/NA.
If you like Egypt mythology you might like this one. The story begins in a flight and ends in flight. Its an okay plot but some parts are dragging, but you can't skip pages because you will wonder what happen.
3 stars for leaving questions to my head and for the regret of not knowing what happen to the book in the book.
I enjoyed this book immensely. The details and imagery are beautiful. I feel like I didn’t read this, but watched it in my head like a movie. The characters are lifelike and interesting, I enjoyed their interaction with each other.
Ellison achieved a lot in this story filled with likeable characters and smoothly paced plot. Dr. Rachel Conner is incredibly relatable in her lead role and makes this a book that’s tough to put down.
This book was AMAZING!! I could hardly put it down. I even dreamed about the story. The characters came to life for me. I hope there are many more adventures to come!
Reading “Rachel and the Mighty Arm that Built Egypt” is like visiting a modern art gallery and enjoying the creativity of the artists. The adventures of Dr. Rachel Conner are a truly original and unique story that is carefully crafted from the imagination of M.E. Ellison. I was surprised by how easily I was drawn into this book full of so much imagination.
The characters come to life from the very beginning and with each turn of the page continue to develop and grow. The diverse characters have a chemistry between one another that causes readers to forget their unconventional pairing. Each character, especially Rachel, comes to life throughout the book. Readers can relate to the emotions of the characters as they find themselves in strange unfamiliar places, as they struggle with their fears and insecurities, question their feelings of love, and are challenged to break free of their comfort zones.
Through beautifully written detail, the author creates imagery that brings every moment to life. Every location and everything within it seem very real. It’s clear each page was written with thoughtful intent and extreme care. The writing style demonstrates the author cares about the reader as well as the story she is telling.
This entertaining story has a bit of something for everyone. I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys daydreaming of ancient civilizations and going on far away adventures. It’s an ideal book for a parent and teenager to read at the same time to discuss over dinner. It’s a wonderful book to take with you while lounging by the pool or beach. Simply put, it’s a work of fiction that is an absolute pleasure to read.
Rachel Connor, an Egyptologist who writes textbooks on the subject and holds a Ph.D in the subject is invited to a conference in Austin, Texas. During the flight from Chicago to Austin, she meets an octogenarian Hester. When she meets Hester again at the conference, she is surprised but soon comes to know that along with Liam, she and Hester (who Rachel discovers is the author of this book that she is reading " the Mighty Arm that Built Egypt") are recipients of literary awards. As the award recipients pose for photos, everything goes black and the trio of award winners find themselves in a strange environment.
Their adventures in the strange place that they have been transported to form the content of this enthralling, brilliant, exceptional adventure that keeps the reader engrossed in the book till the end. A lot of questions arise in the mind of the reader that are hopefully answered in a sequel. I will eagerly wait for the sequel to come out Ms. Ellison!
A huge thank you to the author for a totally different kind of a totally enjoyable book!
The heroine is supposed to be a respected Egyptologist, but has the mental and emotional sophistication of an 8 year old. The storyline has potential, but as rendered here, it is simplistic and boring...and the conversations are pathetic. i couldn't finish reading it.
