A mountain that will challenge your technical climbing skills, your sanity and your fortitude.
A place where only a few succeed at making it to the top and many die trying.
Kai and Annika—complete strangers—find themselves ascending a mountain they've both considered to be their nemesis for most of their lives. Kai intends to make it to the summit. Only a few things will force him to turn back, but unfavorable weather and exhaustion aren't among them. Annika plans to make her mark on the peak in one way or another.
They climb.
They challenge one another more than the mountain tests them.
And soon they both realize that their true intentions for being on K2 are far more complicated than either will ever understand.
This is a mountaineering story. This is a love story. This is a story you will never forget.

I have been craving a mountain climbing romance and this gave me everything I was craving with a mountain story. Our characters are climbing K2 and it's a tough climb. We get a lot of background about the mountain, tragedies that have happened, and the dangerous path our characters take to get to the summit. People do die on page and there are a lot of hear-pumping moments where you don't know if/how certain characters are going to survive. Kai and Annika meet when Annika is brought in to lead Kai's group up the mountain. There is quite the cast of characters in this group and I really enjoyed getting to know all of them as Kai and Annika immediately butt heads and do not get along.
While I loved the climbing atmosphere and plot of the book, the romance wasn't necessarily my favorite for the entire book. I wasn't a fan of the crude way Kai would talk about Annika or the mountain (he used some sexual metaphors to describe the mountain). After he got to know Annika, though, his comments slowed down and I did enjoy the growth of their romances from hate to love. I also wasn't a huge fan of how the more intimate scenes were written. They were pretty over the top and took me more out of the story than anything. Other than that, though, I did warm up to Annika and Kai's relationship, especially with what happened near the end of their climb.
Overall, I loved the atmosphere and suspense of this book. While the romance wasn't perfect, I still enjoyed the hate to love romance and how Kia and Annika had to learn to trust each other. I can't wait to find more mountain climbing romances like this one!
The Climb. O-M-G! It grabbed me right away. Not the writer isn't a rock star or anything. *wink* Kai, Anni - I loved how the characters unfolded in my head, my imagination. Never would I have ever thought I would enjoy a book about mountain climbers. Never. But this? Is a work of art. I was on the mountain with them. I was cold and frightened and falling in love. And I couldn't put it down. Thank you Daya for pulling me out of my book slump. Screw you TV! I don't like going into a book blind. I'm always looking for THAT review, the one that tells me what I'm in for. TRUST me. This is a book that will take you by the hand and lead you, every step of the way and pet and cuddle you after. The way a good story should. 5 HUGE ice ax stars!!!!
Ever since I read THE ISLAND by Daya Daniels, I wanted to read her novel: THE CLIMB. The mountain is called K2 and the second highest peak in the world, and maybe the most challenging plus dangerous. Few ever make it to the top, but many have died trying. It takes a really experienced climber to even try to ascend.
Kai and Annika are complete strangers who both have very different reasons for putting their lives on the line to make it to the top of this mountain. They challenge each other just as much as the mountain challenges them. Before their party even starts the climb, two of the porters have died in addition to their lead guide getting injured. This is not a good omen. Maybe God or the mountain itself is warning them not to go.
The author must be a climber herself or just have studied the technique of mountain climbing thoroughly. It takes a certain breed of person, man or woman, to put themselves through this grueling and life threatening experience. I stayed up to 2:30 in the morning to see if they made it to the top. I never guessed the twist and turns this story would take. I was tired, but couldn't put the book down.

An incredible adventure on, in & about the murderous mistress that is K2—the most deadly mountain on the earth. Its emotional, agonizing, entertaining, heartbreaking, sexy & revealing all at the same time, weaving a story of conquering the giant & the ghosts with complex & challenged characters, human in their flawed & failing dysfunctionality, gives a deep, layered intriguing & captivating tale that touches the senses & spirit.

Daya Daniels never seems tonsuprise me anymore. A romance story while climbing a mountain? Yep! She outdid herself with a beautiful and crazy way to depict love at its finest.
At first, this was hard to get through. The amount of knowledge displayed through the pages was sometimes difficult to understand. However, I will say that Kai & Annika were explosive separately and together. The amount of chemistry was off the charts between these two. It was hard and difficult for them but they were able to overcome the mountain and each other. The supportive charachters were just as awesome and It really let you see a totally different side to a love story.
As a reader you find books that you enjoy and then sometimes you come across a book that you just simply fall in love with. I find it hard to explain in words on how to describe how much I loved this book. It sucked me in from the beginning. This story is so well written that you capture the characters feeling, thoughts and emotions. One of the things I love best about Daya's books is that they are never the same and she never cease to amaze me. This book has everything from adventure, loss, hurt, romance, spice and true beauty. If you're looking for a great read, then The Climb is a must read.
My first book by this author and what a book it is. This story is an romance and an action - romance while climbing a mountain - crazy good. The beginning was a little difficult to get through and it read a bit slow for me. It bogged down the reader with almost too much information which explains my 4 star rating, but once the romance start to blossom between strangers - climbers Kai & Annika I couldn’t put it down. This is one story is one where I will say the secondary characters were a delight to read. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book and purchased a copy as well

I went into this book with little expectations and unfortunately they still weren’t low enough. I found that this book drung on so long and it was incredibly boring. I did manage to push myself to finish it though. So I guess that’s a plus. I felt as though the ending was a way to rush the book to a finish and I still don’t really know how I feel about it to be honest. The fact that the author made the biomother of the child gave the kid to the main female felt very forced. I know she was trying to make it sweet but it was to much in my opinion. I understand that this is a book built off fantasy but no, just no.
I read the first few chapters of this book because they were included at the end of The Island and it didn’t take long before I was hooked. The setting was unique and although I didn’t connect with the main characters at first, they definitely grew on me. I also love books with a twist. This one has a twist and then a TWIST! 4.5 stars!
I recently finished The Island (also 5 stars) and wanted to read something else by this author. Wow. Was not disappointed. This book was amazing and I could not put it down. Rich storytelling with a surprising underlying twist. Daya Daniels has a unique way of setting up the characters to a point where you think you know them and that's all there is to know. But, just wait. 5 stars!
I really liked this book. It was written beautifully, I learned a lot about climbing and I loved the maturing and personal growth that the hero- Kai went through a d the healing of Annika. I would not call this one of my favorite books or best books by this author but it was an amazingly written story. She is very talented. Loved Winston.
What a fab story .. loved how in depth it was and not just a typical story about love .. lots of great characters . A real page turner with a couple of twists I didn’t see coming.
I really wanted to like this book so I forced myself to keep reading but Kai was too much of a jerk and in the end I just didn’t care what was gonna happen next to him and Annika. Since I didn’t finish the book I can at least still pray she pushed him off the mountain...
at the beginning, it was slow and the story starts to become more thrilling. i enjoyed it but the ending was a bit of a meh for me. mind u , i read this book back when i haven’t started my finals so im just putting what i can rmb for now! 😂
Very interesting read that combines a melancholy but sexy love story with all kinds of scary climbing details. The twist at the end is pretty impressive - no peaking!
Wow. 5 stars. I just finished this so I need to get my thoughts together but this was so unique and heartbreaking and such a compelling story and I’m very glad I read this.
1.5 "for the intense descriptions of that harrowing journey on that mountain" stars
I don't know how this could be so intense and yet so boring but I also could never write anything about anything related to climbing K2 so good on Daya Daniels. Not so good was that ludicrous ending. Actually, the last 25% of this book really—pardon my French—fell off a cliff. We did not make it through all of that crazy weather, loss of appendages, and death to be left with that. No.
