I've already read a few showbiz/entertainment danmei, but what I loved about this one is how engaging all the films the MC acted in. The author didn't just simply narrate the plot of the script but she wrote it in a way that makes the readers felt like they are reading short novels within this novel. I really had so much fun the whole time.
As for the romance, this might be a love at first sight trope, or rather the ML activated his fanboy heart at first sight, but I can say that the relationship progress between the MC and ML is quite slow burn so the romance didn't feel sudden. The ML might be the one who fell in love at first sight, but he's a patient man. The MC is also decisive about his feelings. When he started to like the ML, he's not confuse and in denial. He's quite aware of his own feelings and he has the higher EQ in the relationship. He's never hesitant and is quite bold at times. I loved their dynamic so much. It's funny as well, especially when the ML is such a poker face and cold in the surface, but there so much going on in his lovesick head.
This has the same author as Rebirth of a Supermodel and the MLs in both danmei have the same formula of being the number 1 fanboys of their MC, even creating their own side account to post their fanboy moments, which is always so entertaining to see. I also loved the balance between the romance and the characters' career in this novel. This also has a few face-slapping moments, but not as much as the other showbiz danmei I've read before, focusing more on the career growth than facing idiotic cannon fodders.

Instead of face slapping, karmic revenge it leans more on the showbiz, personal growth and wholesome drama which I prefer more and hence why I like Superstar Aspirations more than Rebirth of Supermodel. I enjoy dog food and the netizen comment drama so much in showbiz danmei and I wasn't disappointed. 😌 Love when the partners are their SO's closeted fan leaders, adds so much of humor.

A story about a re-birthed superstar climbing the ladder from a small supporting character to a superstar actor who gets three international movie awards (including Oscar) in one year. It's plot-heavy, while the romance is rather light and very sweet.
The love interest (he's called the ML/male lead in Chinese, while the MC is the MC) is also a superstar. He's very cold and dignified outside, but very silly inside. One thing I love the most from this story is when the ML made an anonymous social media account to fangirl the MC. He's like the number one fan of the MC, posting three times a day to praise the MC, giving millions when the MC's fanclub was having a fundraising for charity, and buying hundreds of cinema tickets when the MC's movie came out.

I feel like this is really petty of me but all my good feelings about this book went up in flames when I got to the extra chapters. All the way upto extra #2 (I think) I loved SA. Rong Xu and Qin Cheng were really lovely together and I have no issues with OP characters, so having 95% of Rong Xu's problems be solved in a couple of chapters didn't bother me. I liked all the stories for the movies/TV shows within the book (though I will say I wouldn't have been able to handle being a Rong Xu stan--barely any of his characters made it to the end alive and I'm not that much of a masochist) and there were some 'movies' that I wish were actual novels--hopefully with better endings though. I didn't mind that there were a few loose ends that didn't really get tied up (or if they did, I didn't notice because MTL)
All the online comments and the way the fans interacted with each other was so funny. The way the fans rallied around their stars and supported them was lowkey unrealistic (stan twitter hasn't been that wholesome ever I think) but it was still really really cute. And Qin Cheng being supreme leader of all dorks and calling himself Baby all the time was just so fucking adorable, genuinely if the book had ended with that livestreaming extra, I'd have given this 4.5 stars with my eyes closed.
Unfortunately, the Lin Xuan + Hollywood director whose name kept getting butchered in the MTL extras exist and those just pissed me off and brought my enjoyment level down to a low 3-something. I didn't mind the fact that the author chose to give LX an extra dimension in the extras (it was a little ??? but whatever) and okay, they made it 100x more angsty than the previous ~170 chapters combined (also very ???) but the content was just ... not for me. It was too much fat-shaming and too much overlooking of rape because ~feelings~ and too much absolute bullshit like where the fuck did that guy get off thinking he had the right to even try to win LX back after everything he did (he left LX there!!!! alone and fucking bleeding fucking dickhead I will end you) and what was all that random hospital nonsense and the open ending was RIDICULOUS and the most ridiculous thing of all is that IT FUCKING ENDED THERE.
Look I put up with multiple chapters of random way-too-melodramatic extras solely because I expected the book to end with RX and QC being adorable and dorky and horny together. That's what I'd spent a week reading and falling in love with and I'm sad/angry that my most recent memory of SA is that rapey disgusting bullshit. So what, that director is hugely popular and rakes in the cash so obviously he's arrogant and the whole time he was secretly in love with LX so it's okay that he was basically walking trash and continued to be walking trash right up until the second he realised that LX knew French and understood his whole pig rant (god that scene made me physically ill) and therefore couldn't pretend he hadn't been supremely shitty to and about LX? And this is the guy we're supposed to root for? We should be happy that LX gave him a chance? After all the soothing fluff we had with RX and QC? Fuck no.
(And yeah, I get that their history was hinted at when LX visited RX in the States when he was shooting that movie with the director but genuinely I do not give a fuck; LX was likeable enough but the director was introduced as scum, he kept being scum, he ended the story as scum and he spent all the flashbacks being scum. I do not want to read about irredeemable scum getting happy endings. Especially without prior warning of scum characters getting happy endings.)
So yeah, if I ever read this again, I'm going to quit after the second extra. The rest shouldn't exist. Instead we should've gotten more with Qin Cheng's alt account and how he maybe found Rong Xu's alt account--maybe there could've been an online love story about how these two fan accounts fell in love and made the whole community jealous. So much more wholesome--and more in line with the rest of the book--than that very poorly titled set of extras.
(If I sound bitter, it's because it took me almost a week to finish this and I feel cheated. More ChengRong, less whatever else.)

หรงสวี่มากองถ่ายอำพราง แสดงบทจอมพลน้อยฮั่วซี เป็นละครรายสัปดาห์ พระเอกของเรื่องหานหยางเฮ่าเป็นคนที่มีปัญหามากที่สุด แต่เพราะมีคนสนับสนุนการลงทุนให้ทำให้ทีมงานทำอะไรไม่ได้ เป็นคนที่ทำตัวเลวร้าย ปรับบทของหรงสวี่ให้น้อยลง ทั้งกองถ่ายไม่มีใครชอบ จนถึงขนาดคิดจะเอาหรงสวี่ออก หรงสวี่ก็ไม่ใช่คนที่ใครจะรังแกง่ายๆ สามารถทำให้ผู้ช่วยผู้กำกับระดมทุนได้ และในเวลานี้ฉินเฉิงที่ถ่ายละครเสร็จปิดกล้องก็หาเรื่องมาเยี่ยมกอง โดยอ้างว่าแม่ฝากมา ทำให้รู้เรื่องและจะให้หวาเซี่ย เอนเตอร์เทนเมนต์ลงทุน พอรู้ว่าระดมทุนเรียบร้อย ทั้งจงอี้ที่มาเยี่ยมกองบอกว่ามาเยี่ยมหรงสวี่ก็จะแย่งบทของหรงสวี่ ทำเอาฉินเฉิงหมายหัวจัดการ พร้อมกับหานหยางเฮ่า ที่จะเปลี่ยนออกแต่หรงสวี่พูดไว้ จากนั้นการถ่ายทำก็ไม่เหมือนเดิมอีกต่อไป ฉินเฉิงยังได้พักอยู่กับหรงสวี่หนึ่งคืน แถมยังหน้านิ่งถามว่ามาเวยป๋อไหม จะกดติดตาม หวงสวี่เลยได้กดติดตามด้วย เป็นที่ดีใจของแฟนคลับฉินจริงๆ
ปิดกล้องละครแฟนคลับฉินก็แอบสมัครเวบป๋อเอาไว้เพื่อโพสต์เป็นแฟนคลับหรงสวี่โดยเฉพาะใช้ชื่อขนมไหว้พระจันทร์ไส้เม็ดบัวรสส้ม ทั้งหลงรักฮั่วซี รักโม่ฉีเหยา แล้วก็จะดูละครของหรงสวี่ตามเวลา ดูย้อนหลายรอบทุกวันอย่างมีความสุข
หรงสวี่ได้ไปรายการวาไรตี้เพื่อแนะนำละครศึกชิงบัลลังก์ แต่เพราะเป็นดาราหน้าใหม่ทำให้ได้สคริปที่บอกว่าต้องทำอะไร เขียนว่าต้องเหม่อลอย ถังเมิ่งหลันนอกบทโดยการให้หรงสวี่ร้องเพลงประกอบด้วยกัน ทำเอาดังไปอีก และภาพยนตร์เรื่องเมฆาพยับก็ให้มาเทสต์หน้ากล้อง หรงสวี่แสดงเป็นหลิงเซียว และเพราะหรงสวี่แสดงเรื่องนี้ฉินเฉิงที่บอกว่าตัวเองไม่ว่างก็ว่างขึ้นมาทันทีจะแสดงเรื่องนี้เหมือนกัน

หรงสวี่มากองถ่ายอำพราง แสดงบทจอมพลน้อยฮั่วซี เป็นละครรายสัปดาห์ พระเอกของเรื่องหานหยางเฮ่าเป็นคนที่มีปัญหามากที่สุด แต่เพราะมีคนสนับสนุนการลงทุนให้ทำให้ทีมงานทำอะไรไม่ได้ เป็นคนที่ทำตัวเลวร้าย ปรับบทของหรงสวี่ให้น้อยลง ทั้งกองถ่ายไม่มีใครชอบ จนถึงขนาดคิดจะเอาหรงสวี่ออก หรงสวี่ก็ไม่ใช่คนที่ใครจะรังแกง่ายๆ สามารถทำให้ผู้ช่วยผู้กำกับระดมทุนได้ และในเวลานี้ฉินเฉิงที่ถ่ายละครเสร็จปิดกล้องก็หาเรื่องมาเยี่ยมกอง โดยอ้างว่าแม่ฝากมา ทำให้รู้เรื่องและจะให้หวาเซี่ย เอนเตอร์เทนเมนต์ลงทุน พอรู้ว่าระดมทุนเรียบร้อย ทั้งจงอี้ที่มาเยี่ยมกองบอกว่ามาเยี่ยมหรงสวี่ก็จะแย่งบทของหรงสวี่ ทำเอาฉินเฉิงหมายหัวจัดการ พร้อมกับหานหยางเฮ่า ที่จะเปลี่ยนออกแต่หรงสวี่พูดไว้ จากนั้นการถ่ายทำก็ไม่เหมือนเดิมอีกต่อไป ฉินเฉิงยังได้พักอยู่กับหรงสวี่หนึ่งคืน แถมยังหน้านิ่งถามว่ามาเวยป๋อไหม จะกดติดตาม หวงสวี่เลยได้กดติดตามด้วย เป็นที่ดีใจของแฟนคลับฉินจริงๆ

หรงสวี่ได้ไปรายการวาไรตี้เพื่อแนะนำละครศึกชิงบัลลังก์ แต่เพราะเป็นดาราหน้าใหม่ทำให้ได้สคริปที่บอกว่าต้องทำอะไร เขียนว่าต้องเหม่อลอย ถังเมิ่งหลันนอกบทโดยการให้หรงสวี่ร้องเพลงประกอบด้วยกัน ทำเอาดังไปอีก และภาพยนตร์เรื่องเมฆาพยับก็ให้มาเทสต์หน้ากล้อง หรงสวี่แสดงเป็นหลิงเซียว และเพราะหรงสวี่แสดงเรื่องนี้ฉินเฉิงที่บอกว่าตัวเองไม่ว่างก็ว่างขึ้นมาทันทีจะแสดงเรื่องนี้เหมือนกัน

Hmmm... I really like Rebirth of a Supermodel. Apparently this novel and Rebirth of a Supermodel is the exact same genre/ plot. Just in different industries. BUT the novel is a whopping 30% longer, and the effect of it was apparent on me. I felt that the novel was a little too lengthy with too much filler?
Growth... There are novels where MC slowly learns the skills and tips to be an actor. But for this MC? He was already a Film Emperor in his previous life, he just brought the skill sets over and applied it to this life. Not to mention that he can even hop over to the music industry. Was that necessary...?
Face-slapping? it was pretty much one antagonist per work. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy face-slapping. The comeuppance the respective antagonist get was pretty much perfect. There were 2 self-entitled, delulu antagonists and for one of them, reading about their just dessert was *chef kiss*. For the other, he just disappeared like that. WTF. I understand that he was not as heartless/ malicious as that particular antagonist in Rebirth of a Supermodel, but I wished he could have been grounded into dust more.
Shared universe wise, it's just the names of the Magazines/ Fashion brands that crossed over - Muse, Ji Heya and Rosalind. So you can say the 2 books do not have any links at all.
ML was pretty much obvious about his feelings early in the novel (to readers). He has an unexpected side to his personality which was pretty endearing. I love that author explained why this side wasn't public revealed.
However, I felt that there were also some unclosed/ unresolved plots... Like what happened to the Rong legacy or even Uncle Duan/ the mansion? Tbh I felt that the steward secretly supported MC more than the others.
I liked how author really delved into each filming work and it felt more explored and in-depth than some QT novels. But for 1 of the work, I think author got bored and didn't expand it that much. I'm grateful because ML wasn't in it and there were no antagonist but it was quite obvious.
I saw some reviews regarding the extras/ side CP and I have to agree with it. I think the gong of the side CP got away with it too easily, considering how much trauma he caused. It was downright disgusting. The duration from the event to discovering it was just terrible. I mean coming from a "scion", your resources kinda suck and also because he was arrogant, he probably didn't give a fk. Tbh, I felt that the wife chasing crematorium could have been more dog blooded or emotionally heavy. The written scene was pretty much... predictable. The shou was just too forgiving, but it did mention that he could not hate him. Ahhhh... the stupidity of people in love.
While it seem as if that I have a few complaints about the novel, I did enjoy reading it (even though it surprisingly took 4 days). The interaction between MC and ML was super sweet and cute, especially how gentle and loving ML was. Also the smut scenes, though only about 3/4, were eheheheh ;). There were more mentions of it but weren't expanded on. MC fans were also genius, dedicated and supportive AF.

3.5 score. Overall, worth watching for the romance. Absolutely, skip the bloody extras chapters. The romance between the lead couple was the best part of this novel. The bloody extras chapters were the worse being completely unnecessary and tainted a good slow burn BL romance.
The lead characters were likable. There was enough depth of the lead and their close secondary characters provided by the author. The two male leads’ exquisite beauty, poise and other godly characteristics are standard cliches in Chinese novels where white jade skin men and women dominate as lead characters. This novel was no different and may be more excessive. These characters are famous celebrities and are expected to have flawless top tier specifications.
The storyline was average and felt monotonous near the end. I liked the fluffy parts. But, the author spent too much time detailing each movie/television project. They started to feel like fillers. It took a third of the novel before they acknowledged their relationship. I wanted more fluffy time between the main characters. They could have acknowledged their relationship sooner. Plus, they would have more chapters where they build on the relationship while overcoming obstacles instead of several paragraphs on flying to/from set locations, camera angles and how Godly perfect the main characters performed in auditions and filming. More romantic scenes would be more enjoyable than knowing all the movie settings details and the intentions of a secondary director character.
The author included too many listings of Weibo comments. Some were funny in the beginning and helped the plot. They gave an insight into the impact of Chinese social media on mainland China and the power it has to make or break a celebrity especially with the acceptance of water armies. Then, they got stale, repetitive and started to feel like a cheap way to add paragraphs to a novel.

(1-6+เล่มพิเศษ) ไม่รู้ว่าเรื่องนี้กับกลับมาเกิดใหม่เป็นซุปเปอร์โมเดล คนเขียนเขียนเรื่องไหนก่อน แต่เหมือนกันจนอ่านแล้วรู้เลยว่าคนเขียนคนเดียวกัน(ถ้าไม่ใช่คนเขียนคนเดียวกันก็คือก๊อปงานแล้วอะ) เปลี่ยนแค่จากนายแบบเป็นนักแสดง จากนักแสดงเป็นนายแบบ แม้แต่ตำแหน่งของพระเอกนายเอกก็เหมือนกันไปหมด เรื่องคือลอกกันมาแบบเป๊ะๆ แม้แต่การมีแอคลับไว้คอยหวีดแฟน หรือคู่รองของเรื่องก็เหมือนกันมาก คือรู้เลยว่าคนนี้เป็นตัวละครไหนในอีกเรื่อง แต่ถามว่าชอบเรื่องไหนมากกว่ากลับเป็นเรื่องนี้ ทั้งๆที่บางอย่างปมก็ยังไม่เคลียร์ เช่น บทสรุปของตระกูลหรงเป็นยังไง คุณปู่กับคุณย่าของฉิงเฉิงเป็นยังไงหลังจากที่ได้รู้ความจริง ฯลฯ แต่ก็ถือว่าจบในตัวของมันเองดีอยู่แล้ว 4.5

Estoy entre darle un 3.5 por los extras o un 3.7.
Había empezado a leer la novela porque una de mis dos novelas favoritas está escrita por este autor. Bueno, la pareja es raramente divertida, no siento los matices de la otra novela, pero esto no significa que no sea entretenida. Esperaba encontrar otros dos personajes de vientre negro pero me topé con pura comida para perros. La novela no tiene casi drama y todo va muy tranquilo.
Creo que lo que más me gustó es el detalle de cada historia que van a actuar, realmente me siento con ganas de ver cada película o serie que detalla, tristemente no existen y solo me queda imaginar el escenario.

Haber ha sido divertido ver cómo se forma la pareja y como lo hacen público, pero el resto se le podría decir que es una novela china pasable, con una trama sencilla y normalita. Lo resumo en un sin más.

probably the most satisfying showbiz danmei I've read. we see Rong Xu's slow development in the entertainment industry as he gains more recognition as well as a sweet romance on the side.
the reason why this is probably my fav showbiz novel is how interesting the plots of the movies/shows were!! like I was genuinely invested and at times found myself wishing they were real wuwuwu... definitely didn't cry for some of the plot lines...
I will be honest and say 70% of the book I stopped reading and started to skip chapters until they're relationship became public purely because the translation after chapter 106 is genuinely horrendous and difficult to enjoy. asides from that small gripe, this novel was perfect.
I'm glad the shitty family was barely given any attention (I legit forgot they existed) and we focused on Rong Cu and Qin Sheng instead. DEFINITELY appreciated the lack of a third person adding drama to their relationship, these two know they love each other and won't let anything come between that 😭💞
will probably reread once I find a better translation or if we're lucky gets an official translation
