Another showbiz chinese bl web novel with a Gary Stu super OP MC that I just can't stop reading. I actually liked this more than the others because it really focused on the life and work of a supermodel, although I don't think this is accurate to the actual life of models in real life it was still entertaining to read about. I loved both the MC and LI they fit each other and were hilarious together. To be honest, when I started to read this book, I just wanted some mindless reading, and I expected it to be cliche (it was) but I didn't expect to get really attached to the characters. I actually got a little bit teary-eyed after finishing this because it was actually good, and I was sad that I won'tget to read anymore about the main characters along with the side characters. I felt like it wasn't rushed, and it ended in a good place. What a surprisingly nice read!

This was a very enjoyable story. I really liked both protagonists and found their chemistry to be off the charts. The only down side is that the story felt too dragging. It's unnecessarily long, there was a lot of repeated plot points which made me bored on more than one occasion but I held on due to my love of Ming Yu and Xi Ze. The ending was well done and very satisfying ❤️.

It had a few moments I didn't enjoy towards the end, and I'm never going to be in love with the the "one of the couple has to be a wife" joke, but the plot is really good and the relationship doesn't fall into a lot of the worse danmei novel tropes. I liked it a lot!

Bom, essa novel foi uma surpresa muito agradável. Confesso que quando comecei, não tinha muita esperança, tenho um histórico ruim com novels muito compridas (mais tempo para os autores estragarem), e quando iniciei a leitura minha expectativa continuou baixa, já que começou bem lenta e sem graça. Mas tudo mudou radicalmente depois de alguns capítulos, eu não conseguia largar. Li dia e noite, cada minuto livre gasto nessa novel, porque era MUITO interessante. Como alguém que adora moda, se tornou ainda melhor para mim. A química entre os principais é ABSURDA, eu sai convenciada que Ming Yu e Xi Ze foram absolutamente feitos um para o outro e nunca vão se separar, as interações deles são cheias de provocação e carinho, eles tem uma comunicação muito própria que eles realmente só utilizam um com o outro, um relacionamento assim tão dinâmico e de certa forma realista, é raro de se ver em novels. Os personagens secundários são bem construídos, em especial eu gostei das mulheres top models escritas, a autora teve uma grande oportunidade, que muitas outras agarrariam e agarraram, de transformar elas em rivais românticas dos protagonistas, e preferiu não. Ela criou mulheres fortes e cheias de personalidades próprias, envolvidas na trama mas não de forma clichê e estereotipada de sempre. Amei. Agora sobre a temática moda: Eu gostei da proposta de trazer a indústria da moda em uma novel, gostei de toda a vibe dos bastidores, a escolha de estilos e maquiagem, a descrição das capas de revista e desfiles, amei tudo isso. Mas quanto as roupas, acho que faltou uma busca mais aprofundada da autora por inspirações, as roupas descritas por ela muitas vezes tinham vários elementos que nunca funcionariam juntos, e algumas características específicas foram muito repetidas, as roupas descritas por ela como maravilhosas eram sempre basicamente a mesma coisa. Para uma novel na indústria da moda, isso é uma falta que conta. A linha temporal da história também é muito confusa, eu realmente me perdi. Adorei as interações entre eles e os fãs, gostei dos conflitos maiores da história serem sobre escândalos boatos e etc, a autora foi condizente com o tema principal da novel até o fim. Isso é um BL, mas acima de tudo é sobre o renascimento e ascenção de um modelo. Sobre os vilões, o "boss" (se é que dá pra chamar ele disso) era fraco e foi derrotado muito rápido, o mesmo sobre os outros, em alguns casos o Xi Ze exagerou até demais nas punições dos antagonistas. Teve um ponto em que o Xi Ze parecia mais um mafioso que supermodel. Agora por fim, o final...o vestido de noiva...a exposição dos perfis secundário deles...MARAVILHOSO, DIVERTIDO, PERFEITO. FECHOU COM CHAVE DE OURO. Me diverti muito, valeu muito meu tempo, gostaria de mais. 😭💞

Dnf'ed cz it was so long, detailed and boring. Too much of netizens' talks and 10 paragraphs descriptions of things which will never be mentioned again in future...

Here is an example of a suit description which was on MC during fashion show.


Yes, Sixin's fashion show might be for ready to wear clothing but there was one high-end outfit, while was the last casual suit that Ming Yu showed the audience.

This suit was made of the finest cashmere and the gold threading of the outline pattern was specifically ordered from France.

The black background colour was the favourite of each high-end suit. Ming Yu's frame wasn't as burley as Westerners but the suit was tailored very closely to his body, looking elegant and refined.

The first-class workmanship and finest materials made the youth's noble temperament stand out even more. In addition, the vine-like patterns on the right side of the outfit were like stars in the night sky, making this outfit calmer.

Fei Sixin's biggest breakthrough with this suit was the series of broken diamond designs at the collar.

The right side fabric had a light gold pattern while the left side of the collar was a mosaic made of many tiny diamonds. The diamonds reflected in the bright light. The upper part was round and the lower part thin, with the ends hidden at the end of the collar. It was a mysterious and beautiful as the Milky Way.

Moreover, once this outfit was worn by Ming Yu, it gave off a calm and fascinating atmosphere. Otherwise, Duan Yusong wouldn't have been so captivated in the audience. He was directly attracted by the youth who looked like this and didn't recover in the end.

This outfit was really too wasted on the first show of an original brand.

There wouldn't be anyone who had doubts if this outfit was placed in the high-end shows of top luxury brands!

Of course, that was when it was worn on Ming Yu's body. As the top master argued, not every supermodel in the world could wear it.

And that's it, he never wear it again after that. Why would you need such a detailed description of it? And there are many other examples of similar unnecessary long descriptions.

Just before that i read I Have Amnesia, Don't Be Noisy!, which also have an insiders story of entertainment industry, with "work romance" and a lot of face slapping but even though i did not rate it that high it is much much better and funnier!

After dying from a serious illness and shocked to be suddenly reborn into a 17-years-old boy's body who bears the same name as his who apparently is a no-name model under a well-known modelling agency at that, Ming Yu was surprised to find himself in a more brilliant & well-advanced world where fashion industry grown in way bigger scale at the centre of a country that happens to be a complete opposite to his previous life's, a country where its cultural development was particularly prosperous to its extreme best named Huaxia. And in this better world, on a more vigorous and brilliant stage, Ming Yu tries to reproduce the glory of another world, where the stakes are higher and unexpectedly found an unforgettable companion along the way.

I've only started reading danmei this year, and I still haven't read a lot of titles, but to perfectly sums up Rebirth of A Supermodel, this particular book is nothing short of being excellently refreshing in a sense it lack frustrating tone throughout, and both main characters are simply my ideal characters that I've been dreading to read & love. The rebirth-themed plot could be extremely boring because the MC is always ahead of others due to having lived once and often written as perfect & distant where you couldn't detect any emotion within them, but Ming Yu was slightly different, I think?He is still as level-headed as ever, beyond mature & smart compared to his new body's age, but it was his principles where he didn't pretend to be a saint that makes his character more charming that I love the most. Having been worked to death to reach his status on his previous life eventually structured him to be a man who knows how to appreciate kindness and at the same repay the evil deeds people are doing to destroy him 10 times more ruthless. He's gentle yet aloof, calm yet cold-hearted. Badass is simply an understatement, really. Not too mention, he's freaking good at his job.

And there's his relationship with Xi Ze. They're officially one of the best couple I've read along with He Zhao & Xie Yu in Fake Slackers, hands down. I love how these two are written as equal as they are similar in a lot of sense. In this foreign world, Xi Ze was known as the chief designer of Ji and Ya, one of the most well-known brand in the world and seated as the first place on the World Supermodel Rankings at the same time. He's a major shareholder of the company where Ming Yu is under, a cold-hearted man who has an extreme obsession of cleanliness, who only cares about his own-being, and strives to not hurt anyone as long as anyone doesn't do anything close to harmful to him and later his precious person.

Both Ming Yu & Xi Ze were particularly smart and they weren't afraid of doing morally questionable things based on their own principle. Their relationship was steady & mature, and welp quite childish & shameless at times because we're talking about two person who were the very people who would be very unlikely to be involved into such a solid romantic relationship as they bear natural inclination to be deprived of such thing due to their strong personality. Because of the very same trait, seeing these two falling into a relationship that turns out deeper than everyone's expectation is never boring in the slightest bit. Even when they're officially together, the amount of sexual tension didn't lessen, and their possesive trait for each other were just equally as bad. For two person who have experienced being a very high place in a long time and let the harshness of it carved into their soul, both Xi Ze and Ming Yu is just...perfect for each other. I wouldn't call their relationship completely healthy, but they weren't overwhelmingly toxic at the same time. They're just being themselves, and it's everything and beyond.

Not only them, the supporting characters were written well too. To the models in the industry, Zhao Rui & Luo Ruo, even Ding Bo who keeps getting harassed by his devil boss a.k.a Xi Ze lol. Each of them have their own portion & personality to be alive between the pages. I also like Song Chuchi & Luo Cheng's small bits on the extra story!Even the fans & netizens comments put in this book was pretty entertaining too, although it did turn repetitive in the end. A lot of things indeed turned repetitive in a span of over 200 chapters but I could say it wasn't to the point I got bored of reading. It handled the pace a bit better instead, because the first 100 chapters didn't feel slow for me, that I could simply committed reading the rest of it. If there's anything I was slightly uncomfortable with, is how the writer depicted Huaxia as the new 'China' in a different world with so much glamorization that it kinda turned me off. It's almost like overpraising the country nonstop, I even got confused where this writer was bribed into writing this lol since it was pretty extreme. But then again, it's a C-Novel, so...yeah.

In the end, what I'm truly satisfied the most with is how Xi Ze came to know Ming Yu's previous life and witnessed it so vividly how the love of his life lived and came to his death on the story extras. I think that was a right move where I feel all the rebirth & transmigration danmei should have had included where both characters have nothing to hide in front of each other. Both Xi Ze & Ming Yu are written in the most inhumanely way possible. They're powerful & tactful to protect what's theirs, ruthlessly cold when they want to, seemingly perfect on the surface. These extras story where Xi Ze went into sleep and see how Ming Yu lived his life dilligently just to fell ill in such a young age, and how he broke down in tears watching the other slowly dying is just...plain raw & heartbreaking. And then the chapter 236 wrapped everything up with Ming Yu opening up to Xi Ze about his previous life, and how he realized that their relationship has progressed in a way they have claimed the other as part of them was so beautiful. I couldn't think of a better ending than this and I'm so happy the writer made the right decision to end it this way knowing these two will live a different outcome together forever.

Honestly I'd love to to see this getting adapted into drama in the future because it perfectly suited to be one with all aspects considered. Rebirth of a Supermodel feels superficial in a positive sense as it perfectly delivers what it tries to tell. In a world where such materialistic theme as fashion industry was taken into the core plot seamlessly, I doubt there's anything much to be done to make this better than it already was. I'd definitely want to reread this again because both Ming Yu & Xi Ze is the very definition of power couple I've been looking for, and it's just been a fun read witnessing Ming Yu's journey of seizing the top once again!

This was my second attempt to read this book and I can firmly say this one is just not working for me. I cannot understand how this story could possibly be 200 some chapters. Well, okay, I can, because it's dragging on FOREVER but there is literally no conflict in it. Ming Yu was a supermodel at the pinnacle of the world before he was paralyzed and then died, transmigrating into the body of a 16 year old Ming Yu from an alternate universe essentially. He decides to once more become the best supermodel ever and I don't even know why because I would be bored out of my mind with how easily everything happens for him. He is the most perfect model ever and every photographer he meets absolutely loves him and no one compares to him except his ML, who--in the 115 chapters I actually read covering a span of, I think, almost a year--never seems to actually model but is still somehow, the #1 supermodel in the whole wide world. The two goals Ming Yu establishes for himself from the start, 1) become the best supermodel and 2) ruin the dead!Ming Yu's scum not-boyfriend Cheng Su, don't even really seem to be goals. They're inevitabilities. He's rising up from the bottom, sure, and the novel wants me to believe he's working hard at his rise up and not taking the easy way out (which true, he does have an easier option than what he's doing) but also, it's hard to believe that anything is actually difficult for him because he's just so perfect and capable. It's just... boring. Even his supposed flaws, like being a shit terrible actor and can't cook are things that make him endearing and oh, there's this one specific role that a director needs him for and if he can't do it, the role won't exist because he's the most perfect person for it.
It's blowing my mind that an author who wrote something as creative, thoughtful, and fascinating as The Earth is Online somehow churned this never ending snoozefest out. I didn't outright hate this book. There's nothing in it that made me want to throw it at a wall or rage about, but I am annoyed at how much it felt like a slog because you're just rinsing and repeating the exact same scenarios over and over again, just with different people, and I did not expect that I was going to spend most of my time lamenting over picking it up again.

This novel might not be for everyone since it can upset a lot of people because it definitely has some upsetting topics. Trigger warnings: xenophobia, homophobia, racism and such. But personally I was hooked with the story itself from beginning to end.

This has the best face slapping and revenge moments and those moments definitely weren't the best for those parties against the MC and ML. Both of them are not saint and they can be considered as a black-bellied characters. ML is ruthless and cold when dealing with people who provoked his lover. MC is a 'little bit' merciful than the ML but those people who tried to fucked him up, no one will be left untouched. He wanted to handle them on his own as much as possible rather than seeking help from his lover. He's quite independent and I loved that about him. He's not the typical 'damsel in distress' who would always be saved by his 'knight'.

I loved that they're equally powerful in every aspects. Though they bicker a lot (which I find so adorable and funny at the same time), they respect each other so much. They're each other's beloved and strongest opponent at the same time. Their relationship is definitely not toxic which I admire. I also found it hilarious when the ML created a side account just to flaunt his fanboy version. He spent SO MUCH buying every products his lover endorsed without his lover knowing (imagine, 10,000+ copies of a single magazine and more similar situations), even bought a separate villa just for his collections LMAO I say yes for him being a supportive, devoted and doting lover!!

I personally recommend this novel, but I still want to say that read this at your own discretion!!

essa é definitivamente minha comfort novel, mesmo que eu tenha lido poucas, rebirth of a supermodel conseguiu me animar nos meus dias mais difíceis e eu nunca vou superar essa história.
ming yu é, sem duvida nenhuma, um dos melhores protagonistas que eu já encontrei em livros. a personalidade dele me encantou demais e a forma dele lidar com cada problema que surgia só me fez ter mais certeza do quão maravilhoso ele é! eu adorei acompanhar a evolução dele, ver ele realizar o último desejo do original e ainda superar tudo e todos (ate mesmo o xi ze) como ele sempre quis. esse definitivamente foi o ponto mais positivo pra mim de toda a história.
xi ze foi um co-protagonista perfeito. eu queria que a autora tivesse se aprofundado mais no passado e nos reais sentimentos dele (alem do lado romântico), mas isso não me deixou menos apegada ao rei.
o romance foi construído de uma maneira incrível. a parceria e a confiança deles desde o início me conquistou de cara, mas o jeito que evoluiu com os dois demonstrando o amor por meio de ações me deixou de coração quentinho.
eu amei o jeito que o mundo da moda foi mostrado. os desfiles, as roupas, os ensaios fotográficos, tudo foi bem descritivo e me deixou muito presa no livro.
o final foi perfeito e me deixou querendo mais (mesmo a novel sendo enorme).

I read Rebirth of a Supermodel over the summer and since then I have been rereading it over and over again. It has a good plot to me and the romance is something you wouldn't expect in the beginning. Personally I thought the romance would be between Ming Yu and Cheng Su but it was actually between Ming Yu and Xi Ze. I really liked how it gave all these adventures for Ming Yu and showed every step on how we got to the top. Personally I didn't find anything wrong with this book, it was beautifully written and done perfectually.
My favorite character out of the whole thing was Xi Ze. Xi Ze was my favorite character since he really good character development. As the story went on, I got to learn his story and why he acted that way and it was really nice to see how and why he became that character. I also really loved how he was very patient with Ming Yu and oftenly showered Ming Yu with his love for him. Whenever Ming Yu got into a situation, Xi Ze came to the rescue even though sometimes Ming Yu didn´t want to it. Even before they where dating, Xi Ze showed his support and always helped Ming Yu out. This book has moved into one of my favorites along with The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and Heaven´s official blessing.

No hay conflicto. Hasta la mitad de la novela es interesante, pero luego es más y más de lo mismo. No existe un problema real nunca.

Y la pareja principal... El autor usó muchísimas elipsis en el transcurso en que la pareja se conocía, entonces de repente ya nomás nos dicen que son muy amigos y más adelante, que de hecho son más que amigos. ¿Cómo sucedió eso? No lo sabemos, porque el autor en vez de demostrarnos que los personajes tienen una charla agradable en el que demuestran que tienen una conexión, prefiere hacer una elipsis diciendo "estuvieron hasta muy tarde charlando".

Y el mundo alternativo del autor... Es exactamente el mismo al nuestro, pero con la diferencia de que Huaxia (China) es una potencia mundial en todos los niveles. Lo noté un poco muy pesado al autor con este tema. Una y otra vez. Cuando no suma nada a la trama.

Entonces, cuando no hay trama real, no está ambientado en un mundo interesante y tampoco hay un buen CP, para mí no queda nada más en una historia que valga la pena. Por lo que me aburrió muchísimo de la mitad hasta el final de la historia.

Sinceramente, no la recomiendo. Hay muchas otras historias mejores que esta. No pierda su tiempo, compa.

Honestly, I wanted to give this 3.5 stars because it was enjoyable but insanely repetitive (like many of the other novels I rated 3.5 stars) but the sheer amount of xenophobia/propaganda was just too much. In TEIO (by the same author) I could ignore these underlying themes because they didn't really impact the story and only appeared near the end, but in this one, they were clearly running throughout the entire story without even an attempt of concealment.

Now, I'm using xenophobia as a lack for a better word but the message the author wants to engrave in our brains is 'China (huaxia) is the best country in the world, the puny countries of the west cannot compete with our vast amount of history and culture.' This may just sound patriotic, but not when throughout the entire story, the author brands all Americans and Europeans as blond-haired, blue-eyed villains and Korea and Japan are just inferior versions of China. And yes, only America, Europe (or should I say the UK (only England), France and Italy because literally no other European countries are mentioned) and East Asia appear in this story.

I was tempted to give it only two stars.
The story was way too long for what it had to say. At some point, keeping reading was almost a real torture... The pattern is the same with every arc: hero does thing, a new villain arrives and becomes jealous, the villain then attempts to suppress the hero, but he ends up full of regrets.
Once would be all right: it's the hero, we need to feel his power.
Twice would be tolerable: it would be seen as a funny repeat of events.
Three time was already too much.
So by the 6th time and more that this pattern happens, I was ready to scream....
Coupled with a translation full of grammatical mistakes and typos, with very hazardous sentences.... As well as highly stereotypical characters and an even worse relationship between the main love interest and the hero.....

Indeed, if not for the fact that I did laugh at times reading this, I would give it a two stars rating. But since I'm honest: 3 stars for the humour. I won't recommend it however...

This is the story of Ming Yu who died at the height of his modeling career and transmigrated in the body of a 3rd rate model in another world.

This has an okay plot. I love the main couple because they are not the typical goody two shoes characters. It is also interesting that the modeling industry is the main theme of the book. I have read some books with a similar premise like this one but usually it centered on the acting industry.

There are lots of cute and funny parts in the book that made my reading great. But also there are lots of slow parts and too much details on the clothes and appearances of the models. It was a bit repetitive sometimes.

It was a light and fun read.👍

Loved this story. Ming Yu was a fantastic protagonist, likeable, intelligent, proactive, and only retaliates against those who try to mess with him first.

The only thing I disliked was some of the strong internalised misogyny in terms of enforced gender roles in a same-sex relationship, and how Xi Ze kept lying about 'next time' or taking 'revenge' for being jealous, rather than the two of them being the mature adults they otherwise are. (If the author really has such a strong preference for enforced gender roles, just have the characters prefer it naturally? Rather than having them in a 'fight' that the protag can literally never win?)

First modeling industry book I've read, most of the time its the entertainment industry. Overall its solid. I quite like Both the MC and ML. Though I think the thing I personally liked the most were the Authors little notes in the middle of the stories. like the times where theyd' say to give someone a moment of silence then say "alright times up. Don't waste more time on them. They don't deserve it" I don't know why but these little additions really made it more enjoyable somehow.

The one star was removed because the story was definitely dragged on for longer than it should be and the actual descriptions of some of the outfits didn't really suit the high fashion scene at the time.

Serei sincero, essa novel é desnecessariamente longa.

O ponto positivo nisso daqui é que é um casal abertamente romântico e mesmo sob ameaça de censura a autora faz deles muito íntimos durante toda a novel.

No inicio o ambiente de supermodels, passarelas, celebridades, etc, é muito divertido e legal de acompanhar mas depois de 100 capítulos a autora só repete as coisas com um tom de narrativa diferente. As reviravoltas são bem chatinhas e não tem muita história de fundo.

Se tivesse 80 capítulos, até 120, eu daria uma nota maior, mas não vejo necessidade pra 244 capítulos, mais de 700mil palavras pra absolutamente nada.

Necesitaba algo tranquilo para leer y definitivamente esta novela cumplió con su misión y además me enamoró. El protagonista simplemente es llamativo, es perspicaz, inteligente y adorable cuando es necesario. Me agrada la independencia que busca previamente antes de estar finalmente con Xi Ze. La pareja es muy única, ninguno es bueno, pero tampoco son malos, simplemente colocan sus intereses y regresan lo que les pasa.

It’s good okay but it’s not what I’m looking for. I dropped this 25% in because I felt the story progress won’t work for me. I was looking for character growth and the main character IS growing but there were no emotional steps leading to the main character current self.

I adore this danmei. It was so cute. I loved how hardworking the MC was and how supportive the ML was. They made eachother better and their relationship was adorable. I enjoyed reading it. It was a very light read and slice of life.
