I write action/adventure fiction with a definite proclivity towards Sword & Sorcery. I like magicians, but I'm less partial to unicorns, dragons, elves and dwarves. But give me a hero with a magic sword and I'll make him sing... Wait, I already have!

I've published a number of works under the CasiePress imprint and there are more to come.

I'm an older guy (Guy!), married and all my kids have grown up and given me grandkids to dote over. I've read thousands of books and found that in most cases, I'd rather write than read.

Enjoyed it but there are some issues

I enjoyed the book and the series as a whole, although book 1 started off as being "rushed" book 2 and 3 came out nicely with a good pace. But the last book had too many unnecessary plot twists and events that just made the entire book seem rushed.

And Ricky's character seemed to get more naive as the book goes on. Spoilers ahead. In this book he kept over using his powers or lets himself lose all his powers multiple times. You would think he would learn from his lessons.

Anyway overall still a good book but I wish the author took some time to concentrate on the main arc of the story so that there is more flesh instead of bones.

They story concludes

I enjoyed Ricky’s journey but I felt book 5 was rushed and at times I felt as though I was reading a fleshed out outline or storyboard. I got a little tired of the constant references to Ricky being Pira’s “knight”. Despite these negatives Book 5 was a good read. I look forward to the authors next series.

Awesome ending to a first rate series! I can't begin to say enough good things about this book and the author. His Power of Poses series, Disinherited Prince series, Warstone Quartet series and the latest Song of Sorcery series are all well worth reading for any lover of fantasy. Highly recommended book but you should definitely read the previous books in the series first.

Great Fantasy series

Thoroughly enjoyed this series. I have seen some of the other reviews about predictableness in the story, and perhaps there is some, but as a whole very entertaining series.

Very much a YA series. The MC is 14 when the story starts. It is well written and has a good magic theory system. Mr Antibes has written many different series and like many authors they are very similar. This is much like a Modesti series as very similar tendencies in other sereies.

Ricky is the op MC but...

I get wanting to put your MC through his paces, but what's the point of an MC who's overpowered if he conveniently loses his op-ness at the beginning of every battle of every book. That being said, it's still an extremely fun read.

This was a rather abrupt ending to a fun series. Even though Ricky was the unlikeliest of teenagers, it was a fun read.

Same

Same old issues I have with the series. It has great concepts but they are executed poorly. Things build quickly and then are resolved in a sentence or two.

Loved the series

I really liked the character list. I wonder how long it took to come up with all the names of the people and towns.

Excellent

Good finish! Very good story, enjoyable. 14 more words? I don't like writing reviews, they are something required in addition to the ten dollars a month.

Third Reading

Got a bit overdosed on troop movement and battle strategy *smile*. A delightful twist when Ricky gives himself and ear full. *grin*

I'm ready to enjoy more of Antibes. But, to enter this brief review, I had to leave the page of the description of the book I was considering reading next. And, I've too much gray hair to recall the name. *blush, sigh*

I like the diversion these type of books allow. Overall I enjoyed Ricky's journey. I thought the books were well written and I was kept interested in what was going on. One thing that kind of bugged me in the last book was the constant patter between Pira and Ricky. There were many times when it felt forced and somewhat glib. Other than that I thought the ending was rushed and though it could be fleshed out a little more. All that said, I did enjoy the diversion and I do recommend it.
