The first book in this series was a fun tale of a guy who finds himself trapped in a nearly realistic VR world he is beta testing for his new tech job. It did a decent job of mixing action, humor, erotica, and a tad of romance. The main character was not the most likeable guy ever but he was OK. The main strength was that everything was hilarious. Unfortunately A.J.Markam failed to repeat that formula and this turned out to be a fairly abysmal sequel as a result of those failures!
Ian was annoying in the first book and a tad self absorbed at times but still managed to be mostly likeable. That was gone in this instalment. He was a bullying self-absorbed asshole 24/7. That definitely hurt the story.
The humor, which was the best thing about the 1st instalment of the series, absolutely bombed 90% of the time. I've no idea how Markam went from funny to awful so fast in this regard but sadly he managed it!
The other big negative was the fact that this book was all erotica with no romance, very little action, and even less plot. That ruined the balance for me and made the story a little dull. Though it definitely did not help that a lot of the sex scenes sucked and were a bit cringe-worthy. One of the early ones almost made me DNF on the spot with its questionable consent and general awfulness!
On the whole I think Markam made a total arse of this sequel. Too much wish-fulfilment fantasy sex scenes and not enough of anything else. Such a pity as the first book was fairly fun. I doubt I'll other with the third book as I got a 25 minute sample of the 3rd book tacked onto this audio and it felt like it was going to be a continuation of what book 2 had to offer rather than more of what the first book in the series delivered.

I am setting spoilers because I need to explain what I disliked and why, and invokes a specific part of the plot. I couldn’t finish this book. I loved the first book. The teasing between the MC and his Succubus. The actual growth of the MC. The hilarious Imp. They all worked to make an enjoyable book. It took me a while to understand why I couldn’t keep reading this book. I would continue to try and found myself not wanting to continue. The writing is still good. All the same characters are there, so why was I not enjoying it. Then it hit me. This is a harem story(even if it’s just the MC and his Succubus). I like harem stories; they are a guilty pleasure of mine. I don’t read harem stories to hear the woman complain she wants an open relationship while the guy vehemently says he doesn’t want to share her. Open any harem story and there is a guy(or girl if reverse harem) being loved by many woman who are ok with it and wouldn’t dream of being with any other guy. I realize this is a male fantasy, duh, why do you think guys read them. Just had to share that, because before I finally was able to understand why I was disliking this story, I was struggling to force myself to continue.

The sequel to SUCCUBUS is the story of a virtual reality World of Warcraft-esque video game tester man who hires a badly done parody of Han Solo to take him to hijack a demon-filled pirate ship run by a lesbian warlock who kidnapped his girlfriend. This results in him going to Not-Northrend in Azeroth to kill the misogynist king of the ice elves. He eventually resolves the problem with the power of his junk and a couple of orgies. Your enjoyment of this book will directly depend on how much the above intrigues or repulses you. There's probably not going to be a middle ground here. It's a sex-comedy and it's fun but it's a little more sex and a lot less comedy this time around.

Unlike the first book which had actual character development mixed in with fun RPG elements, this book had very little of that. Most of it was 'haha my dick big'. Not a fan.

Wow that went off the rails really quickly.
World: Standard LitRPG fare with genre archetypes and cliches. Nothing really special here.
Story: Wow this book devolved to it's lowest common denominator really quickly. Last book I felt there was some surprised and content in the story of the slaves and the turn it took. Here, it's just male wish fulfillment and that's about it wow.
Characters: The banter is still kinda fun and the Star Wars part with the characters was interesting and I'll be honest the humor with the penis monster was hilarious but the book really quickly devolved into male wish fulfillment really quickly and the characters didn't really get any depth after that.
Wow that devolved quickly.
Onward to the next book!

The story is okay, except for 2 things that KEEP annoying me.
That the MC keeps surrendering whenever the girl is is threatened, even when there is no hint that she would stay dead, even when the girl herself tells him otherwise. It magically worked itself out, but rather than showing that the MC cared, it showed that he's a moron.
The MC's mind, with regards sex as requested by the girl, is all fked up. I understand, and even personally agree with wanting to be monogamous, but he keeps overanalyzing things, and oh dear god did it get annoying quickly.

Great Writing
“Blood Elves” as a popular term in gaming, only exist on Azeroth. Great sequel to a great book. Protagonist has inner & outer conflicts that drive him through a heroic story arc. However, would be better with more accurate Dungeons & Dragons and Lovecraftian lore.
“The Old Gods” are the former pre historic rulers of whatever worlds they are being described. The come from the space between universes/realities instead of haaving their own. Everything created first by HP Lovecraft is public domain. There are other writiers who have added to the lore but, depending on the author and topic, may not be public
If a writer is going to include mythos & fantasy species from specific other franchises the may want to make the lore more common than just having the same name. It breaks immersion for any reader who already knows the supposedly borrowed lore, think do I.
Yet, as said, it is a very satisfying story to read. What more should a reader truly expect…?…
Hopefully the author explores other shocking scenarios. Maybe one of the Frost Elves gets pregnant…?… The author can easily write it in such a way as to enhance the plot further. Wealth, wet nurses, et cetera solve a lot of the believability of a positive impact on the story.
Why is the protagonist so afraid of being a ‘part’ of government? Separation of Powers is a wonderful concept that has been working comparatively very well IRL.
The source of what the protagonist mentions in book 1 is a constitutional republic instead of a democracy. Purely democratic governments are like statist ones in that all known historical examples have eventually failed on a long enough timeline. There is little need to get into the bytes, but maybe be realistic…?…

Probably would have enjoyed this more when I was younger. Nothing wrong with the grammar or the story but I think one book would have been enough for me.
If I had to pick at anything it’s probably that the author seems to forget his universes rules. Gamelit gives you options but it also restricts an author. Somehow a level 70 character isn’t insta wiping another 50 levels below him. By his own universes rules he shouldn’t be able to adjust the power of the attack and yet he does.
Similarly it’s revealed that the adult portion of the game was a mistake and the mc only has access to it due to his immersion error in the first book. This makes no sense as one of the other testers mentions that he too is enjoying the adult delights in the game.
Tiny tiny things but you notice. And truth be told I think I only really let it bother me because I was kinda done with it all after the first book. It’s honestly nit picking stupid stuff that can be easily ignored.
If your a fan of the series I don’t think this review is for you because there’s plenty of good stuff you see in the first volume. That being said if your on the fence about picking up number 2, perhaps this will be relevant to you.

One Thing Always Sells...
Ian powers up a bit. Introduce Dorp, another comic relief demon. Think Jar-Jar Binks, and you'll pretty much have it.
Stig somehow gets a bit more interesting, as he self-identifies as an alcoholic.
The pirate ship scenes were fun and the freeing of the pirate crew and negotiating passage with them was kinda cool. What would an air-ship crewed by demons be like?
Alaria and Ian really amp things up. This book might also be titled "50 Shades of Red and Blue". A big increase in explicit adult situations.
And when your big climactic battle revolves around taunting the big bad guy over the size of his junk....*sigh*.

Definitely skips the sophomore slump.
Succubus 2 is a fantastic followup to the first boom in this series, filled with more of everything that made the first book great. We get to delve deeper into the burgeoning relationship between the MC Ian and his sexy succubus Alaria, and explore the intricacies of their contrasting natures in sexuality. While the focus of the first book was on moral quandaries of slavery within the video game trappings of OtherWorld, this time the main focus is on the dichotomy between polygamy and monogamy and how insecurity can create major issues. While the erotica is hit as ever, the book still does much to provoke thought. Probably one of if not the best entry in the series.

If you've read the first volume, you know what to expect. In general I did like this book, but there's plenty that just needs to be glossed over. It's obvious that potential female readers weren't even considered, the "relationship lessons" just make you groan, some of the content that was meant to be funny doesn't even get close, comparisons often draw on references which won't connect with everyone, just to name a few criticisms. I felt also that plot-wise there's a bigger disconnect between the game and the "real" world, to the point where the second could just not exist. Luckily these books read very fast, otherwise it would get really tiresome.

As funny as book one and that makes me want to read book three
I really enjoyed the first Succubus, it was funny and a bit filthy. My decision was based on DM Guay's recommendation.
As in the first book, the story is good enough to keep you reading and it does go into solid erotica at times, but you expect that with the title. It doesn't detract from the quality of the writing and if you don't like that, don't read this.
There's enough humour and sarcasm in here for me and I'm going to carry on with the rest of the series.
All in all, good clean (except when it isn't) escapist fun.

An Action Filled Romp
An enjoyable action-filled comic romp filled with humor, sex, action, and snark. Interestingly, it is also filled with some very thoughtful topics, drama, love, and bits of darkness. At least as interesting as book one, book two also redefined and expands the characters, not only making the story more interesting, but the characters as well. Recommended for adults.

An entertaining and erotic litrpg
I have enjoyed the series so far.I'm a huge fan of fantasy fiction with angels or demons so it was a no brainer for me. If you don't like demons as friends and allies, or are offended by fantasy religion in general I'd recommend skipping the series. The same advice applies if you don't like explicit sex scenes, which the book does contain. I'm interested to see what aspects of the setting the author develops next.

Now this was very close to my low expectation I had set for the first book, which exceeded them, and I am not very happy of it. Pacing was off, half of the book was just crap.
While I did not care for the hornybrain mc, from the first at least it had some sort of buildup. This had none of it and erotic scenes were too numerous and took too long. And the Jealous Mc wasn't interesting to read. Granted it did have some fun moments.

Okay for what it is. I thought the first book was much better. The adventuring parts weren't as good and the porn parts weren't as good. However, most people are probably not expecting a epic tale of adventure mixed with quality lusty situations. They are expecting raunchy serviceable adventure that you consume like chips and forget the next day. This is a bag of chips and sometimes you can't eat just one.

This is only the second LitRPG story I've ever read, so I don't believe I'm qualified to comment on the RPG bits. Never played an RPG game, either (Yes, I'm an old guy!), but I do appreciate fun fantasy -- and a bit of sex (which the series has a lot of, but it isn't as overwhelming as it could be).
Credibility gets stretched with coincidences and 'just in the nick of time' occurrences, but then, the story is set in a game universe.
Looking forwards to the next book in the series!

How A Mind Is Changed
Ian is back, Alaria is asking for help yet continues to tease him sexually. Ian wants only Alaria, however, what is a guy to do when an army of beautiful women are thrust in his face. Sexuality abounds as Ian and crew work at taking down one of Alaria's former masters. I like the action, humor and lust/love. I look forward to the next book.

More of the same, just lots more
If you liked the first book you'll probably really enjoy this one. There's lots more homages and parodies, and the author even points out its lazy writing on their part. Not much improved about the video game aspects of the story telling and very little world building.

Good, interesting, different,
Interesting book. Not sure how to explain it. Generally left me wanting to know what would happen next. More sex than I usually prefer but it was not just sex. It fit into the story, just out there enough to push the boundaries but not so much that it over took our ruined the story.

Dude I so wish this was real
Okay if you're not familiar with the series it's an adult series. And no angsty vampires, no power man well not very many power-mad magicians. It's a very well written story, even to the point I wanted to reach through the screen and slap the main character give it a shot I enjoyed the story immensely

Actually 2.5 stars.
It wasn't bad, I think it was slightly worse than the first one, but I just got tired of all the sex scenes, as in this book, there were much more sex than in the previous.
If I'm going to read the next book, It won't be in the near future for sure.
Time to pass to some quality fantasy.

Love this series, couldn't recommend it enough! Just mind you that it got some quite graphic sexual encounters. Not for everyone, but Wow, what an amazing ride.

Fun and hot
Sometimes you don't need anything more than that. This book is for those times when you don't need complex plots and high art, just a good fun romp through the snow with some friends.

Much better
This book is 10 times better than the first book. I started off imaging the main character as Woody Allen, which helped in the first book,but didn't last as I got to the fun times. A much better book looking forward to the third.

More humour, more titillation, more of everything.
The highlight has to be the lusty female elves though. Honesty, the writing is absolutely ingenious when we meet them. If you enjoyed the first book, this to me seems a much more polished read. Loved it.

Oh my! Since the characters were developed in the first book, it seems that the focus of this book were many sexual encounters. Again, the story for this second book in the series was well thought out. Of course, the sexy parts of the story were fun and arousing. It is a good summer read.
