Sardonic, sometimes lewd and filled with obscenities, #relatable is the writing debut of American author Marquita Norwood. This book is a brief collection of witticisms and observations that can connect to the cheeky cynic in all of us. Marquita explores dating, sex, mental illness and many aspects of day-to-day living with her unique, comedic voice. Finding humor in life and the things we despise, often makes it that much richer.
Whenever I am feeling down or completely pissed at the state of the world, I pull up Marquita Norwood's Instagram and I instantly feel better. This world is a better place with her in it and this book is another way to delight in her fierce, funny perspective. She has taught me to be unapologetic in what I love, to make every moment a ritual - even if it is just preparing a snack plate, and to ask for exactly what I want in life. Buy her art, subscribe to her Substack, or any other way you can support her because she is a gift.
I had one of the worst weeks of my life but this book, this anthology of prose and wisdom brought me back up and I am so grateful I had the chance to read it. It's certainly relatable and I'm floored at how many screenshots I added to my snap chat cause little quirks in her writing made me laugh and chuckle. It's a great light read and it's easy to return to whatever passage you need to get through a rough millennial day.
This gem was sent to me by a good friend as a gift. It is my first official read of the year and I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Norwood's banter and wit. It is the first book of its kind that I've personally read and it only took me 2 days to read it! I would like to see more of Ms. Norwood's pen and I'm anxious to learn her thoughts following the events of 2020 lol. Keep writing and I will keep reading!
#relatable by Marquita Norwood is a brief observation of witticisms, and just something to read when you need a bit of humour in your life but you don't want to read a book from cover to cover.
This is definitely a book that is meant to be dipped into rather than reading from cover to cover. This isn't a book that you need to read all in one go, this is a book you can take your time with, let it settle on your GoodReads Currently Reading section for as long as you want because... it's that kind of book that you don't need to stress over to finish it, because it's not that intense and it's so good.
Should everyone buy this book? Maybe, possibly, I would say if you have a sense of humour and you enjoy books that don't have a real point but are simply just funny, this is a book to go for, this is a book you will delve into from time to time. I would also say that this is a book that I feel that people need to buy the paperback rather than the eBook because it's a dip in and out type of book, and that kind of book has to be a physical book. To me at least.
