It's been awhile since I read the first volume in this series but it comes back to you pretty quick due to the fact that it's a pretty different take on the isekai and dungeon management genres it makes it memorable. The book is an enjoyable read taking only a few hours though honestly it's not as good as the first one. The major conflict in the book is a deadline that you already know the main character is going to overcome so the stakes are pretty low making it mostly a slice of life. There is a little action and it actually has one of the best action scenes I've read in awhile even if it only lasts for a few paragraphs. The primary secondary character seems to have taken more of a backseat in this one to focus more on the new female character, she is still around a lot but this volume makes her feel a little 2d despite the main character constantly realizing how important she is. Overall it's a good read and a nice contribution to the series. Sadly there is no real conclusion to the overall story and I don't expect one since the author hasn't published a new volume in 3 years in it's native language so while I look forward to more my hopes are low. I still recommend it if you like the genre though.

Overall I enjoyed this book. A lot of the elements from the first book are here, and they continue through this volume. We finally get to see the labyrinth being built, and find out just how their management system works, which I found pretty interesting. We also get to see a fair amount of character development along the way for the side characters, which I quite enjoyed.

The biggest development was the female night as she is hired into our protagonist's group/"harem" (as it is) and how she fits in. Though it felt a little like it was playing towards the more 'adult' side of things, her development was fun to watch and it was nice to delve into her evolution of her being a human having to fight humans, as well as where her loyalties lie. I have to say, what becomes of her was unexpected, and I am curious to see where it leads.

That said, this novel does follow a lot of what the first one set down, and in doing so does have both a sense of familiarity and with that, disinterest to a degree. As we have seen a lot of the same beats in the first novel, seeing them again in this book does take the excitement down a notch. But as mentioned, this is offset by the familiarity which makes it easier reading when compared to other light novels.

Overall, I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one. I am looking forward to the next release in the series. If you are looking for a different sort of isekai that doesn't involve being hit by a truck, this would be the one for you!

The first book is WAAAAY better. With that said. I did like this book. The thing I don't like about this character is that he's tooooo indecisive with the people around him. However, when it comes to doing his "job", he's top notch. This is quickly becoming a book where I read it more for the side characters than I do the main character. He's quickly becoming the regular cardboard character where everyone around him pulls their weight plus his. If anything, the MC reminds me more of the MC of "In another world with my smart phone" due to how everyone else seems to pull his ass out of the fire when it's crunch time. With all those things said. I still enjoyed the book (mostly because of the side characters though.) So if you plan on reading this book, keep that in mind.

Flaky release schedules aside (i think it's been over a year since I read the first vol), Strongest Gamer is quite a decent read in the 'isekai dungeon master' genre.

This volume showcases the addition of Mary, the MC's 2nd 'family' (or employee) who joins him after being beaten in the previous volume and taken hostage. To repay her ransom, she now works as Aoi's labyrinth boss in order to successfully pass through an upcoming company inspection.

The unique selling points here are more or less the 'corporate' environment of the labyrinth setups, with oblique references to Amazon, Elder Scrolls, MMORPG's and many other games.

That said, the major problem with this series is the lack of a overarching plot for the time being, with series still fully in "prologue" mode at the moment. The setting also definitely has quite a bit to work with to iron some incongruities in it, but it is probably potential future plot points.

Translation-wise, it reads and flows very smoothly, albeit with certain points where the dialogue feels quite messy.

So the daughter of the Demon Lord in charge of the company and managing all of the Dungeons in this alternate reality world (isekai), botched up and did not give the main character, Aoi Kousaka any support, manuals, training, advisers or money and yet, Aoi, succeeded, thanks to his vast game experience and knowledge, and his partner, Ann, a Kobold that fell from the sky.
This second volume is as good as the first, in my opinion, this series should be more popular and well known. Maybe because it only has 2 volumes??
Anyways, Aoi is being audited by the Dungeon company, he urgently needs to construct his Dungeon from scratch, in less than six months, with little or no help, and he comes up with a certain strategy.
My question is, I know it is a Dungeon light novel series, but wouldn't it have been a lot easier, to bring the village market down to where the "dungeon" was supposed to be, to get the "hunter" and adventurer numbers required, without having to spend all that money on actually making a "real Dungeon"? If they would have made the village market, they could have placed stalls, for potions, for vegetables, for restaurants and varied foods, and this market would have attracted more visits than the "real Dungeon" itself. Would have made more money, and would have not needed to spend so much on it, like the "Dungeon" that the author created in his story.
I tried to find out why only the 2 volumes, but did not find any information. The author doesn't have any other light novel series either. So maybe he ran out of time, or never really spent enough time on this series to make it succeed as it should have...Because it was originally written in 2014, I don't think it has anything to do with Sol Press closing down in 2021.

I liked the first volume a lot, I brought it with me when I was out camping and it contributed to some very pleasant evenings. The second volume, on the other hand, felt a bit weak. It wasn't bad per se, but not that exciting either, but since this is just a two book series and I'm a bit of a completionist, I still wanted to finish it.

Remarkable just remarkable

This is one awesome read. I just loved the characters and the interaction between them. Mary is so cute and let's not forget Ann how adorable can she be. All the female characters are pretty amazing but then again I enjoyed the male characters too. Please continue to write more. Thanks for the great time I had reading this.

I read the original when it was first released but years past I didn't see another volume until this last month, and then it was a pain because I couldn't get it in print, but I read it and I am pleased. Now, author-san, please don't make me wait another 5 years for the next one!
