Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Winter Travers is a devoted wife, mother, and aunt turned author who was born and raised in Wisconsin. After a brief stint in South Carolina following her heart to chase the man who is now her hubby, they retreated back up North to the changing seasons, and to the place they now call home. Winter spends her days writing happily ever afters, and her nights being a karate mom hauling her son to practices and tournaments. She also has an addiction to anything MC related, puppies, and baking.
Burndown was the first book in the Nitro Crew series by Winter Travers.
We met Remy in the first book of the Devil’s Knights MC series as the sixteen year old son of Meg. He was now twenty six and worked on the pit crew for a top five team on the NHRA racing circuit. It was his dream career.
Harlyn Krinston was raised by her mother. Her father chose his career over his family but she was giving him a second chance after her mother died. She took a job and moved to be near him as they worked on their relationship.
I really enjoyed both Remy and Harlyn. They were a perfect mix of sexy and fun. I also enjoyed the storyline. Travers took us through the initial meeting and then the developing relationship without much drama - the drama came from the racing crew dynamics while Travers set the stage for the series.
Travers also reintroduced Remy’s family, the Devil’s Knights MC, as support cast. It was entertaining to catch up on their fun brand of crazy. Additionally, Remy’s roommates and fellow pit crew consisted of Frankie and Jay, two supporting characters from Travers’ Skid Row Kings series. I expect we’ll see more from them as the series progresses. It wasn’t necessary to read either series in order to fully comprehend and enjoy Burndown.
Lastly, there were quite a few editing errors, but overall, it was a quick, fun and enjoyable read. Travers left us with a teaser for Frankie’s story next in Holeshot and it has promise to be explosive and exciting.
We are really enjoying this author's stories and I have to say we really enjoyed her Nitro Crew Series. The series itself was pure enjoyment and brought us tons of laughs.
One thing we are loving about this series is its character's and I have to say that we have never really read any sport romance reads before so this was a refreshing change we really enjoyed.
I loved both of the main character's Remy and Harlyn. Remy was a hoot he made me laugh time and time again ."I pictured him having one of those sexy swaggers lol!"
Harlyn she was just a sweetheart and sweet ,kind, funny, vibrant and beautiful and loving and anyone meeting her for the first time could not help but love her.
Remy was sexy as sin, funny, sweet, aggressive, possessive and he had this larger than life personality that we so loved so much
I love a story like this with a little bit of a twist as it makes it more fun to read where the couple starts out dating without realizing that they will have more in common then they even realize which turns in to surprising them both and complicating matters between them.I will say from the moment we meet Haryln I new I was going to love her as she was just going to make us laugh time and time again as I just got the feeling she was going to be one of those gals who tells it like it is and then some.
I love this author but, I have to say that I had not read a lot of sports romance reads but, I am really glad that I gave this series a chance because it was really a lot of fun and I loved the first installment as it just drew us in and gave of the ins and outs of being a pit grew for a drag racer but, most of all the wonderful friendships that developed being part of that crew.
The romance between both Remy and Harlyn was sweet and affectionate and the chemistry was definitely there. These two made a really great couple and complimented one another as they were pretty much one in the same. One thing about the men is this series and Jay himself is when the men fall they fall hard and quick. The man take what the want and claim their women quickly."My kind of guy."
I really enjoyed the plot and the story as well as all the amazing character's like Meg,Frankie,Harlyn these character's make you laugh out loud the entire story. The story made us laugh and be sad in the fact Harlyn struggled with her upbringing and had some drama and a few surprises to keep us engrossed and turning the pages from beginning to end."We loved it!"
If you have been reading Winter's Travers's books, then you know who Remy is. Remy we met in Loving Lo and his crazy mamma is the president of the Devils Knights women. Remy is working on getting his dream job working as a mechanic for the NHRA pic crew. Harlyn is freaking awesome. Just like Meg but with a bit more of a filter. She moved to town to help her dad out and when she and Remy met you just knew that this was the real thing. You could just feel the attraction between them. Everything about this book is classic from this author. You get all the feels. The laughter, the craziness, but what you always feel when you finish her books is complete. Beautifully written and keeps you captivated from the start to the end making you wish the book wasn't finished.
I can't wait for more of this series, it is going to be a freaking hit
This author always has likable characters that are fun to read about. I wanted a little more from Remy since he grew up in the previous series I read from this author, but I think that happens a lot with me. I expect too much going in and I get let down. It wasn't the authors fault they can't read my brain and what I want, darn it.
This book was kickass from the start. Not only did I find a new to me author, but an author who is writing a series that is about drag racing. I was born and raised around drag racing my whole life, so to find an author that is writing a series on it mixed with romance is like hitting the jackpot.
I loved the writing style, characters, and the accuracy was so on point with drag racing. I was totally blown away. I've read racing books before and I have never found one that was as accurate as this one. Well Done Winter Travers!!!
I have fallen in love with Remy and Harlyn along with the rest of the characters. I knew that I was going to love these two when they first met when her car broke down. This book is not only full of hotness, but full of laugh out loud moments. Remy and Harlyn's story was just really starting to heat up at the end and I am so looking forward to seeing these two race to the finish line of forever with each other.
This is really a great start to a series for sure and can not wait to get more of Remy and Harlyn's story along with the other characters.
I have since learned that there are other series with some of the same characters in them from this author. Now I know what I'll be doing while waiting for the next book in the series to come out.
This is the first book in a new series from this extremely talented author, and what an introduction it is! Remy is working hard for his dream job as a mechanic for the NHRA pit crew. Harley is the new girl in town who is there to help her father out. The chemistry between these two is explosive. This is a beautifully written story, which is filled with humour, and had me totally captivated throughout, by this must read page turner. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all readers, and cannot wait to read the next book in this amazing series.
I love Winters books and Burndown is going to be amazing new series. I feel in love with Remy and Harlyn story.. if you read her series Devil's Knights and Skid Row Kings your going to love the Nitro Crew.
Burndown was a really good story that had me hooked from the start with amazing characters and story plus the author is one of my favs . This can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend Winters other books along with this one .
I have read several of Winter Travers books and they never disappoint. Harlan and Remy were everything you need in this book!! It was sweet and sexy! And it also brings in the laughs!! Love love love Burndown!!
Remy and Harlyn are a match you can't deny. The had me turning the pages faster than ever. Easy read that left me breathless for more. Can't wait to read Frankie's story and get into Jay's.
As you head down the quarter mile with this book, inhaling the smell of burning rubber and racing fuel, feeling the vibration from the big block engines right through to your core you will be on a complete high. Remy and Harlyn's story will have you staging deep and lighting up the Christmas tree. This first book in the Nitro Crew Series is a must read for all rev head romance lovers. Anyone who is a big Winter Travers fan will be head over heels with this first book with appearances by some of our favourites from other series. Burndown is packed full of drama, hilarious moments, romance, secrets and the passion, heat and steam radiates from the pages like flames shooting out of the headers on a top fuel drag car. You will fall in love with Remy (if you weren't already) and Harlyn from the start. Their story will grip you like the sticky rubber on a drag racing slick after a huge burnout. Bring on book 2 because I am totally addicted to this series.
Holy moly, Winter you have did it again. Burndown is your best book yet. I loved Remy while he was growing up in Loving Lo and all the Devil Knights series. But oh boy to read him in his own book, I’m speechless. You had me on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next and Meg in this book, well that was just the best ever. I freaking love Meg and everything that flies out of her mouth, she is simply awesome. Now when it comes to Harlyn Krinston, I just knew she was going to be someone I loved as much as Meg. You did fantastic with her, she is perfect for Remy. She says things just like Meg. Remy and Harlyn are GREAT. I didn’t think I would ever love a couple more than Lo and Meg, but you proved me wrong with Remy and Harlyn. This book just flows so well. Burndown is one of those books that you will not be able to put down, the writing of these 2 is just perfect. I didn’t want to put it down, I couldn’t stop turning the pages and when it ended I was like NO, I need more of them. I can’t wait to get more about these two. This book is full of everything a great romance should have in it. A few little surprises along the way and a ending that will have you screaming at Winter, but she loves to leave is guessing what the next book will be. Burndown is NOT a cliffhanger for Remy & Harlyn but Winter does leave you hanging about the next book to n the series. That’s what she does to us, Winter drops a big book bomb on us after giving us the HEA of the current couple and makes me cuss her every freaking time. Grab this book folks and make sure you have nothing to do the next day, cause you will not be able to put it down to go to sleep or do anything else. You will LOVE it. I know I did!!! I highly recommend you guys be click and get started. Winter Travers you my friend have written a freaking fabulous book, it’s way more than a five star read, I wish I could give Burndown 1000 stars!!!! You deserve it. So people instead of reading my review, stop wasting your time on it and just go get Burndown and start reading it. Love love love Burndown thank you so much Winter!!!! Until next time. Xoxo
LOVED IT! I remember Remy from LOVING LO and I am so happy that he is getting his own book. And what a book it was. Remy has definitely grown up and shown that he is like his mother, without the crazy .
Remy put in his time in the garage and now he is on his way to his dream. Now part of an NHRA crew, he is determined to succeed, even if it feels like his crew chief hates him. But he is his mother’s son and Lo did help to show what a real man is, so he is not giving up. And the icing on the cake for him was meeting Harlyn and how he just fit into his life. Both of them knew there was a connection and neither was willing to give it up. But then exactly who Harlyn is comes to light and can bring about the end of a dream or she can be its salvation. Read the book and find out which way the wind blows!
Harlyn reminds me a touch of Meg, but with a filter. She is sweet and funny, but man can she explode like dynamite! But she and Remy balance each other so well. Remy can be very focused, to which he showed through the pages, and she allows him to tone that down. He can be himself with her and she as well can let down the walls that she has built. But there story is not going to be the smoothest road, but they definitely traversed the fast lane well.
I was really happy to see other characters from Winter’s other series appear within this one and it made me remember just why I like her writing so much. She can spin a tale that pulls me in and brings me along for the ride. The characters are wonderful and the writing is very enthralling. I feel the hurts and the pains, the happiness and the love as the characters do. To me that is the way a truly wonderful book is. I am definitely looking forward to more from the Nitro crew, because I think the next book is going to be even more explosive than this one!
This is new to me to read a story about drag racing. I know nothing about this but Winter did an excellent job of writing the story and I did not feel lost while reading it.
Remy is Meg's son. We first met him in Winter's Devil's Knights series. Now he is all grown and out on his own. Even though he's a little bit away from home, his mom still interjects her crazy in his life. Remy grew into a strong loyal honest young man. He is working towards his dream of being a valuable pit crew teammate. His buddies, Frankie and Jay are all going for their goals and helping each other out. Remy's good heart and morals have him stopping to help Harlyn. That one encounter has him knowing that this woman will change his life for the better.
Harlyn is doing her father a favor. Coming to help him but secretly hoping to rebuild a fragile relationship. Unknowingly she meets Remy who will take her heart and hold it captive. Harlyn is a fun, quirky character. I like how she stood up for herself against her father.
We do get to meet some past characters of Winter's with Meg and the crew. The meeting was hilarious and had me laughing hysterically.
We also meet Frankie and Jay, Remy's crewmates and friends. The camaraderie is strong and you can see the loyalty they have for each other. Together the three of them can overcome anything.
Roc is the manager and he has it out for Remy. I would really like to know his story and why he's got a burr up his butt.
There is some angst and young aged drama, but overall this story was a lighthearted good read. While Harlyn and Remy's HEA is perfect for them, the story ends with you wanting more. Winter knows how to leave you hanging. I give this story 5 Pointe Shoes on the dragstrip.
OMG, what a f-ing amazing book. I was so happy to see that some the secondary and background characters are from the Devil's Knights series and the Skid Row series, which are also written by Winter Travers. Of course Remy himself, who is the main male character, is from the Devil's Knights series, he is Meg's son and he is now 27. We get to have a little of Meg's crazy in this book also. Don't worry it's not necessary that you read those two series' before reading this book. Of course I suggest you read all of Winter Travers' books because they are all freakin' fabulous.
Okay, on with the review for this book. Remy is working with an NHRA racing team working under the hood and trying to earn a lead spot on the team. He's pretty sure Roc, the crew chief hates him, but he's working hard to prove himself. Harlyn is the new girl in town and it seems that her and Remy are quite taken with each other. Harlyn moved to town to help out her father who she really doesn't see to often and she is hoping to have a better relationship with once she settles in and hopefully gets to spend more time with him. This story is wonderful and it is beautifully written. I love all the characters from the crazy to the self-absorbed. It's a definite must read and I am totally looking forward to the next book in this series. My favorite line in this book is when Remy asks what his mom whispered to Harlyn. Harlyn tells him, "She said to balance my crazy and classy but to make sure you always know my crazy is there." That is such a great line and you'll have to read the book to understand why it is so important and hilarious.
Christ on a cracker! This was such a good read! I love Harlyn as much as her future mother-in-law!
Remy is your hard working, crazy immune, car loving man! Born into a family that gave him a rough childhood, but was raised by a biker man who loved his mom in a way that made him realize what real love is like. Not your typical broken family scorned man, he’s got his shit together and his dream job. His life was changed one night while driving his friends back home from a night out before the racing season began.
Harlyn is a business educated woman who lost her mom a year ago to cancer. Her relationship with her dad needs some work but deep down, she loves him cause he’s her dad. He called and needed her home to help out the business and she went home to try to mend the relationship between a father and a daughter. Living her life with a guard on her heart until she rolls back home and meets the man who will turn her world upside down...literally no thanks to his mom!
Their love story is sweet and funny and uplifting. After a kidnapping of Harlyn, no thanks to Meg and hiding the relationship from Remy’s boss, it was nice to see a man stand in his own two feet and use his life lessons to prove his point and not bow down to a choice. When love is real, there is no choosing. Love always wins!

Remy finally has his dream job with Brooks Cummings Race Team, two great roommates and his workmates Jay and Frankie. His only problem is Roc ,he seema to have a beef with Remy at every turn. With a break for the evening Remy never knew he would meet the most interesting woman ever broken down at the side of the road. Harlyn is on her way to Leeds Square to begin her new life and new job with her dad ,when her car decides to break down on her by the side of the road.Dark and scary out she could walk the 13 miles to Leeds or just stay put. Then lights of a car bounce off of her car she's not sure if she's about to die by the hands of a serial killer. Remy approaches the car knocks on the window but Harlyn has worked her self into a panic.Remy convinces her he's not a killer and he and Frankie get to work on her car.Giving her a boost and they will follow her back to town, but not before Remy talks her into her phone number. Remy and Harlyn start texting and talking on the phone while Remy is away for a Race, when he returns they start to see each other more and more. When they both discover they work for Brooks, that could only mean one thing Roc is Harlyns father and he hates Remy. How can they navigate through this and stay together.
What a awesome start to a new series Winter!! You had me from page one when I realized Lo was talking about Meg (my favorite of the Devil's Knights MC series) being mom to Remy. Remy is working as pit crew for Cummings Racing Team, a top five NHRA team. The crew chief is Roc. Remy meets Harlyn when her car is stalled on the side of a dark road after midnight. He jumps her off and follows her home to be sure she made it. There is a definate attraction between Remy and Harlyn. I knew I liked Harlyn with her reaction to Remy and how she is vocal with her thoughts! She gave me many chuckles and laughs! Remy and and Harlyn start seeing each other and decide to keep quite about it. Did I mention Roc is Harlyn's dad....stir the pot! The romance gets scorching hot🔥. Another touch I loved was tying in Luke from the Skid Row Kings to Frankie, the car chief on the pit crew. I highly recommend this series. I can't wait to read Frankie's story!
Burndown is the first book in the Nitro Crew series and we start with Remington Grains story.
I loved Remy. He’s hard working, dedicated to his job and determined. His boss hates him even though he doesn’t know why. His two friends are constantly bickering with him left to try and keep the peace between them. He’s pretty much all work and no play. Until he stops to rescue a damsel in distress at the side of the road.
Harlyn is moving to Leeds Square to work with her dad and hopefully work on their relationship. Breaking down just outside of town wasn’t in her plans. Neither was the instant reaction to the gorgeous stranger who stops to help her.
I loved the romance between Remy and Harlyn. Rather than rush in head first, these two spend time making their relationship more than just physical. Harlyn is adorable. I couldn’t help but like her, even in all her awkward glory. With Remys mum turning up and bringing chaos with her, this is a sweet but entertaining read. I can’t wait to read more from the Nitro Crew.
What a freakin awesome start to this new series!!! This is the story of Remy and Harlyn. Remy is all grown up and is working his dream job as a mechanic for a NHRA racing team. He and his friends Jay and Frankie are trying to make a name for themselves but its hard being the low man on the totem pole so to speak. Remy meets Harlyn broke down on the side of the road. There were immediate sparks for the both of them. Remy knew that there was a definite connection between the two of them and is very interested in seeing where this could go. Luckily for him Harlyn feels the same too. They were so good for each other. It was so awesome to see my man Lo and Meg and the rest of the Devil Knights MC. Of course not everything is smooth sailing especially when Remy's boss which happens to be Harlyn's dad finds out about the relationship, but like anything in life love is worth fighting for. I absolutely loved everything about their book and I can't wait for the next book in the series to be here. This is a must read and I highly recommend it to everyone. Well done!!!!
Finally we get to see Remy doing his thing. If you have read Travers Devil's Knights Series than you know who Remy is.. he is Meg's son. Burndown is his story, he is all grown up and is living life away from Meg and Lo. He finds his lady in Harlyn a funny, sweet wild girl who I absolutely love!!! Travers brings two worlds together with this story..a few famous characters from her Skid Row Kings series also make an appearances or may have leading role in this story. Absolutely love Travers idea of bringing a secondary character from one of her series into a entire new story while still incorporating some of the characters from the orginial series. I would not say this is a spin off but I enjoyed this story more knowing Remy's background. For me Harlyn stole this story and she is now one of my favorite female leads from Travers. I highly recommend this story with or without reading anything else by Winter Travers. You will not be disappointed!! Happy Reading!!
I love a series that comes full circle. If you read Loving Lo, you met Remy as a teenage boy going through the steps of his parents divorce as well as the shuffle back and forth between the both. Let’s just say if you were pleasantly divulged in Meg and Lo’s story, you’ll love Remy and Harlyn’s story.
Both Remy and Harlyn have searched for one or both of their parents’ approval, and as they should both have received it, they both have suffered disappointment when it comes to their fathers.
Harlyn searches for a while to develop a resemblance of a relationship with her never around father, but ends up developing a much more meaningful relationship with Remy.
You want a story about unexpectedly falling in love with the boss’ daughter or having your girlfriend kidnapped by your Looney tunes mother (nothing psychotic involved just good old Meg), this book is for you.
The story is told in dual POV and you get all the supporting characters that bring humor and drama to the story.
The brilliant Winter Travers has done it again! This time she's started a new, and highly original series about drag racing. See, Remy is doing whatever it takes to become a mechanic for a NHRA pit crew, even though it means starting at the very bottom. It's no easy task, but he's working hard. He meets the new girl in town, Harlyn, who's there to help her father out, and there's a huge attraction. And that's all I'm coming off of, so if you want more, you know what you have to do. I freakin' LOVED this story that a bit of everything in it. There's hilarious moments, special brand of crazy, drama, twists to let the f-bombs dropping, and super hot chemistry. Remy & Harlyn are a fantastic hero & heroine that I couldn't love more if I tried, and I'll never get enough of them. Plus the colorful cast of secondaries only added more to the story. Once again, I was fully captivated cover to cover with another fantastically written story by Ms. Winters, and CANNOT WAIT for more of this addictive new series! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Sweet! The first book of Winter’s that I read for Loving Lo and have read everything since, she is by far one of my favorite authors. We first met Remy in Loving Lo and he was a teen who loved his mom and all her crazy. In this book we get to see Remy all grown up into a man. From his first meeting with Harlyn you can see he is hooked on her, their love story is just so sweet. He doesn’t push her, he lets things develop naturally. Then we get the surprise of Lo and Meg and the gang of character’s we grew to love in her Devil’s Knights series along with all the crazy that goes with it. Then back to just Remy and Harlyn and how their story moves forward just made my heart happy. Sometimes you forget these are only books because you get so wrapped up in their lives. The next 2 books in this series are also going to let us visit with kids we met as teen’s in her other series Skid Row Kings and I can’t wait. Thank you Winter for your story telling, it is great!
Was so excited when I heard that Mrs. Travers was having a new series coming out. And now it’s finally here. I have to say I almost devoured this in one night. I wanted to keep on reading and forget about sleeping.
We finally get Remy’s story. If you don’t know who Remy is or don’t remember, well he’s Meg’s son. And he’s not that same young man that he was back in the Devil’s Knights series. He’s all grown up and doing his own thing.
I liked Harlyn. I thought she was sweet, nice, caring.
I have to say that Mrs. Travers did a awesome job of bringing this racing world together. It was nice to see appearances from some of the Devils Knights and of course Meg’s crazy. I mean really what would this book be without some of Meg’s crazy. Also there’s some people from the Skid Row series who are in this series.
I’m giving this book 4 Stars out of 5 and can’t wait for Frankie’s book!!!!
This was a wonderful start to a new series and you are also able to catch up with some of the characters from Winter’s Devils Knights MC series because Remy is Meg’s son. Remy is working as part of a pit crew for the Cummings Racing Team and he meets Harlyn late at night when she is having car trouble. There is an attraction between Remy and Harlyn from the very beginning and want to see where the relationship could possibly go but after some time they find out that Harlyn’s dad Roc is also Remy’s boss who is always giving him a hard time. They decide to keep their relationship a secret for the time being which in turn to leads to major problems for the couple to overcome together. The romance between the couple is very hot. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I would also recommend this author.
"On the way home from a night out with friends, Remy stops to help someone who is broken down. He is immediately attracted to his damsel in distress and gets her phone number so he can talk to her again.
Harlyn is coming home to work for Dad who she has never spent much time with. She is not sure how it is going to go, but meeting Remy definitely has things looking up.
I really enjoyed this new book by Winter Travers. It was nice to get to see characters from past books and seeing the younger characters in this story.
I loved this book and can’t wait for Frankie’s story when it comes out! " ~Natalie
Remy and Harlyn had chemistry that was off the charts hot, but the sweetness and caring nature of Remy really did me in. This book had it all. Lots of fast cars, love and a bit of angst. Plus meddling parents. Enjoyable read! ~Jen
